      It sounded like a normal intense drunk night with a boyfriend to me. Not saying that’s ideal, but she felt comfortable still being aggressive in her fight to stay in his apartment. She’s still hollering as her voice becomes muffled by being on the other side of the door. She then did what any stubborn drunk girl would do (and I speak with confidence born of experience, which im neither proud of nor ashamed of), which is try to climb down. He went to let her cool off so they could continue arguing when he let her back in, and she fell trying to get off the balcony while drunk.

I'm heartbroken that this is normal first date stuff now. Please, if you are in a violent relationship or know somebody who is please get help. We need to stop normalizing domestic violence.
      I don't care who did what when. She was begging and pleading to leave with a gut wrenching voice. For his own safety if she was being so aggressive, why not let her go? It sounded honestly like he was getting off on watching her beg. Instead he held her hostage.

      If you listen to the entire audio (also: don't. It'll haunt you) It sounds like he put her on the outside of the balcony so she was trying to climb back onto the balcony as she screamed in terror. If she was on the inside of the balcony she would have been pounding on the glass ranch slider yelling to be let back in.
      Other girls that he took to that apartment had previously been freaked out by him picking them up and 'pretending' to put them over the balcony; he had also asked on the bodybuilders forum how long people thought a woman would be able to hold onto a glass balcony wall before losing their grip; and he had also taken a photo from the balcony on his phone and drawn a pretend chalk outline of a fallen body.

      Just because she screams in horror doesn’t mean he murdered her. He restrained her because she was the one taunting if you listened to full audio you’d know that she was being crazy. The door to the patio was opened I’m not saying it was right to put her out there but he clearly shuts and locks patio door to keep her from his apartment. She chose what she chose and earlier was having orgasms thinking about jumping off the balcony to go to sleep! Whether she jumped or was trying to climb to balcony below regardless it was her drunk decision to do so!

    I listened to the recording a few years ago, and the thing that sticks in my mind is how scared she sounded as she repeated "no no no". We only have Tostee's word for it that he was locking her out onto the balcony at that moment. The recording sounds more sinister to me.
    All we get from the recording is that she's slurring, she's angry at him, and then she's scared of him. Everything else is from his retelling of events.

    • @EmRebJac
      @EmRebJac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Yes! It seems so obvious to me when listening to the whole recording that in those moments when she's screaming no, he is... trying to force her. She keeps screaming please, NO, you said I could go home etc. He says " I did, but now you've been a bad girl." WHAT MAN SAYS THAT WHEN FEARING FOR HIS LIFE?! She goes from being belligerent and demanding her phone back to terrified and screaming no, to "silence" (choking sounds) to saying she's sorry (as he yells at her to get the fuck up) and begging to go again. He was holding her down doing *something* while she screamed NO 33 times, then silent? Then saying sorry and begging to leave? IT MAKES NO SENSE unless he was doing something that terrified her from that moment on. And that's when he locks her on the balcony. I just can't believe he got away with everything. I firmly believe he knew where her phone was because he hid it. She didn't want to be there and so he hid her phone to get her to stay/be trapped. She gets angry and does the rock throwing thing. He knows he's recording himself so he pretends to be passive and helpful until she pisses him off too much and he loses it. He was choking her. She feared for her life after those moments. This is all so horrifying.

    - Towards the end of the recording, he "finds" her phone in his pocket. That's why it was "missing." She wanted to leave, but he took her phone so she couldn't and she was unable to call for help, too.
    - He states that he forced her onto the balcony, but he can be heard in the car with his dad saying she walked onto the balcony, which obviously wasn't true... He hadn't gotten his story straight yet.

      Right...but the end of the recording you can hear him take her to the balcony and close the door. You can hear her voice muffle as shes the other side of the door and his breathing clear as he's inside.
      You continue to hear her muffled and away from him. Then after her screem you hear him walking over and opening the door. He clearly didn't throw or push her.

    • @lachlanstanding7386
      @lachlanstanding7386 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    • @lachlanstanding7386
      @lachlanstanding7386 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @Llama Treee in many cases it is and the scenario which you described definitely is one of those cases. They hit me first isn't actually a legal defence for assault. I just want you to know that so you don't use someone else's perceived misbehaviour as an excuse to grievously injure or murder that person.

    • @lachlanstanding7386
      @lachlanstanding7386 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Llama Treee I'm not talking about his actions, I'm talking about your actions. You're proposing that he should have beat her unconscious (implying that's what you would do in that situation) and unless she posed a current threat to his safety (and if he was able to push her out on the balcony then she did not) he's not allowed to beat her and the defence would not stand up in court.
      I want you to understand that so that when you get your feelings hurt and you want to take your rage out on someone then you understand that the legal standard for a self defence claim is actually pretty high. She started it and was a 'trashcan' isn't going to cut the mustard. So when you do enact that sad little power fantasy you're clearly cooking up over there on someone, just know that no-one in the legal system will have your back and you will go to prison.
      If people are hitting you, call the police. People aren't allowed to hit you, but you're not allowed to hit them either. Do you see how that's fair?

    Considering the fact he knew the events as they happened were being recorded he very well “staged” what he said to her whilst doing the opposite. She refused to leave accusing him of taking her phone ( he had previous convictions) so he stole her phone hence the fight.
    The main issue that perhaps has been missed is her 31 “No’s”so why was she calling or yelling out “No, No…….” so many times? I consider this the biggest clue to what he was really doing to her & he avoided saying anything knowing it was being recorded. Perhaps she grabbed hold of the telescope not to hit him with it but to grab onto something as she fought him, knowing what he was going to do. Sounds pretty clear to me he was either dragging or carrying her out to the balcony then threw or hoisted her over the balcony, (previously threatened by him) closing the door behind him, muffling her screams which came a bit later as she probably clung to the railing before letting go. Think about it, the 31 times she called out “No” is clear evidence he committed the crime, she pleaded to go home but he ignored her, his story of the nearest door being the balcony door makes no sense considering his size & size of the apartment, being a body builder probably using steroids, his hatred for women is demonstrated by his lifestyle & inability to be in a loving relationship. He was cunning in staging his words & actions knowing it was being recorded, had no need to call an ambulance as he knew she would have died & needed time to figure out his story hence the call to his lawyer & refusal to talk to police. If he had been innocent then he would have had no reason not to ring an ambulance, ring his lawyer or stay silent with the police. He bought time & even owned up in the phone call to his Dad saying he was “……..ed” another admission of guilt, why would an innocent person say that. His actions after the murder speak louder than his staged words.

      Absolutely agree! I felt so sad and sick listening to the recording of her screaming no and just hearing the absolute fear and desperation in her voice 💔with that audio and the witness account of how she was positioned hanging off the balcony he obvious hoisted her over…so sad when she asked to just go home and he said “I would but you’ve been a bad girl”…also they way he kept telling his dad he didn’t cause it or throw her off or push her…screams guilty to me. I hope one day he can be charged with something regarding this crime. Such an avoidable and tragic murder

    I heard the recording he made that night. Its chilling as they seem to be having a "good" time and then he turns off the music and things instantly get sinister. Its apparent his victim wanted to leave but he'd hidden her keys, purse and phone and wouldn't give them back. He'd also refused to untie her - when she threatens him she threatens to break his jaw she then demanded to be untied, indicating he was falsely imprisoning her, and the threat was empty. When he's saying certain things its contrived probably because he knows he's recording. I'm convinced he put her on the balcony on the outside of the railings and deliberatley watched her fall- you can here he's breathing hightened at the point were she falls. He'd even threatened to throw her off the balcony when things take a siniater tone. If he genuinely thought she was getting aggressive and out of control he would have not withheld her phone and purse and he would have put her out off his front door not locked her on the balcony. He murdered her and got away with it.

    You are my favorite podcaster on the internet. So objective, scientific, and funny! I feel that based on what I heard on the tape, that he suspended her on the balcony and she couldn’t hang on. The neighbor saw her hanging with her feet outward, which is a position she wouldn’t be in had she climbed down on her own. Somehow she managed to wriggle around and grab on, which is when she fell. He wasn’t surprised at all that she had fallen off. I would have expected him to run out into the balcony in horror but he didn’t do that. He called his lawyer within 30 seconds and immediately left the premises. He later called her phone (which was in his pocket) to make it appear he was trying to get a hold of her even though he knew she was dead. I do think he should have been convicted. Thanks so much for making this video! I asked so many times and probably annoyed you! 😂❤️

      How? Tostee was on the other side of a closed door when she fell.
      Are you saying Tostee physically lifted Wright over the railing and left her there? Why didn't she climb back over the railing? If she thought Tostee was dangerous, why didn't she leave before that?
      "The neighbor saw her hanging with her feet outward, which is a position she wouldn’t be in had she climbed down on her own."
      Did the neighbor see Tostee on the balcony at the same time? No? Then what exactly did Tostee do?

    There were other cases involving this individual afterwards, (I guess his tinder use was quite successful) in one case he was staying with a woman and her 12 year old daughter at a hotel - this woman was threatening to jump 10 stories - her daughter called the police and this man apparently tried to stop her mother from jumping. She was taken to a hospital for mental health assessment.
    Another woman was also taken to a mental hospital after a date with him.

    • @BeckBeckGo
      @BeckBeckGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That’s not entirely accurate. Alcohol does actually start to impair the brain, one level of complexity at a time.
      Lots of people do things drunk that their sober selves would consider a bad idea.
      I think what you’re saying is that alcohol brings out the stupidest parts of your unique personality. Which is more accurate. But without alcohol, it’s fair to assume you’d have control over them. And alcohol certainly doesn’t help anything.

      @Master _E yes, I've listened to the full 3 hours. Seen all the cctv footage. Social media selfies, all was fine between them til they got back to his place. Which happened fairly quickly. He admits they had sex, but he hurt her during the act and they either had to stop or she was just really angry with him for doing it. There is so much more info out there. She was, from all ive seen, an inexperienced naive youth being fed too much alcohol she hadn't tried becore and had no idea what the affect would be.
      He on the other hand, had this home brew style booze at hand. Fed it to her even after the first flare up. Has other violence on women incidents, and showed zero concern or remorse.

    • @LoziPop
      @LoziPop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Master _E looking for a one night hook up, casual sex date, isnt the best idea, but it doesnt equate to killing someone. Over intoxicating them, inviting them. back to your home, choking them, restraining them and choosing to lock them on a balcony instead of taking them out the front door. She was clearly foolish with the choices she made. He was too, but his actions, and lack of response, or concern for anything but himself, is sinister.
      Don't misunderstand me. I'm not a "believe all women" or "all men are wrong" types.
