    I am so happy I found this recipe! I baked one yesterday for the Fourth of July and my family bragged about how good it was. They said it was like my grandma’s pound cake. She was known for her cakes. It was the best compliment I could have gotten. Awesome sis!! Thanks for sharing!

    So I made this cake tonight thinking it would not come out like yours BUT hon-nay....this is the absolute best cake I have ever made. It is moist, tender and simply delicious. That crust on top just took it over the top!!! Thanks for sharing and for giving such detailed instructions!

    I needed this! I baked a lemon pound cake last night and I think I cooked it too long. I will cut it later to see if it's completely ruined. I'm going to bake another one tonight...trying to perfect it! Thanks for this step-by-step video!

    I want to thank you so much for mentioning use butter flavoring not butter exact because that is what I have used in the past and it didn’t give me what I was looking for. I am going to go get me some butter flavoring ASAP

      Your best most important tip was not to over mix it once the flower is added. It will be tougher and crack all over the top! Very true. Glad u mentioned that! Good to see u used lots of butter! Yum

      Thank youuu!!! 🥰 the butter flavoring I found in Walmart! In the baking section! Watkins Butter Vanilla Flavoring! Cuppies will bake from 15-18 minutes but STAY CLOSE after 15 minutes! 🥳

    I have a question. Since my daughter is allergic to dairy and wheat gluten, what flour would you suggest that i use in place! I was thinking millet flour, since that was the grain of choice before wheat was introduced to this country! Maybe a blend of millet and rice flour? I have to go through all my recipes and change the flour! They will still taste heavenly! That way my daughter can enjoy some of the Christmas yummies!!

    Well, I made this today it is delicious and EXTREMELY moist! Only problem is that I needed it today and couldn't let it set and I should've let it cool more before I turned it. :( But it's ghudd!!!!

      You absolutely can! My grandmother uses a combination of butter and shortening in her pound cakes and it has a more smooth texture than this version!

    This cake is soooo good. I did two things different and that's only because I didn't have exactly what the recipe called for. I used salted butter and almond extract. This cake is super moist and delicious. Please try it and you can thank me later : )

    Watkins does not make vanilla butter flavoring anymore. Do you offer any substitutions?

      Yes!! I like going to a craft store’s baking section OR Walmart’s baking section for their butter flavoring. They’re generic but they have the same effect as Watkins! ☺️

      Hey there!! 🤩I’ve heard this also, but I do it anyway! My grandma sifts cake flour like her life DEPENDS on it!!! 😂 To me, sifting slightly changes the texture and the outcome of the cake. It’s just a personal preference. 🥰 Hope this helps!!

      Hey there!!! Normally, I’ll take my buttermilk out in the morning to bake in the afternoon. If you’re short on time, put it in the microwave for 10 - 20 seconds.

      Any vanilla is perfectly fine! I used to use McCormick before making my own. But the butter vanilla flavoring is Watkins! 💕 hope that helps!!

      One big difference is extract has alcohol and the flavoring doesn’t. The flavoring is used as a substitute for butter. It’s only found in specialty stores and Walmart. I started using it in my frosting recipe but made it a staple in my cakes to boost the smell and amplify the butter taste. :) hope this helps!!!

      Yes! Butter should be at room temperature. I don’t use sour cream in THIS recipe. Instead, I added an additional stick of butter to add more fat content. ☺️ let me know if you try it!!

      @@barbra429 I think a cake sinks when the structure isn't built up enough in the creaming process, the oven was opened too soon, too much leavening (baking powder or baking soda). Just in my experience.
