First of all this was the FIRST TIME I had ever tried to cook or bake anything. The reason I wanted to try it is because it was also my late mother's recipe and she used to make it for my birthday. She has been gone for 16 years and this year I wanted to taste this cake again. Found this video on you tube and what a GREAT help it was to me making it the first time and today! YOU are wonderful and I just followed you all through the video. Very easy to follow and I love your humor. Thank you so much for posting this and for helping a NON baker and cook to make this delicious pound cake!!!

Growing up with my grandma, we didn't have a stand mixer, she used her hands or her hand mixer if she remembered. I poured the ingredients while she mixed. This was her way of showing me how to patiently blend everything. Thanks for the recipe.

I never seen you do nothing other than canning or outside. I enjoyed watching you make this cake. I use to buy baker's joy, but I make my own cake release. 1 cup of oil, 1 cup of Crisco, and 1 cup of flour. Mix very well. There you go. Thank you for sharing.

I have made this cake 3 times, once with vanilla ice cream n one with a cream cheese icing and love both. I always use the spoon method to mix as my grandmother did it that way 70 years ago. I also love lemon pound cake.
