    The interior door handles in my experience are also atrocious in my experience. Driver side door handle snapped off, took way too long to replace and is a pain to line up the window rails if you accidentally take the bolts out too much. Few weeks after replacing the drivers handle, the passenger failed as well. There is a tiny little plastic connection which effectively stabilises the door handle which can snap.
    Not that big of a deal, but i did get an advisory on my MOT for the door handle.

    The 5 speed manual (made by VW) has internal bearing failure issues well known by gearbox re-building specialists. I know this as my daughters 1.4 Ibiza gearbox failed and cost £1100 to re-build (this price included new clutch and VAT).

    Don’t forget to mention the Positioning Motor (V68) for Temperature Flap on cars with Climatronic. In time, the grease on the inside of the motor will go trough the whole body and dirty the contacts. Symptoms: no temperature regulation of the climatronic. Solution: take out the complete dashboard and clean the damn thing on the inside… Full day of work for just a quick clean with a q-tip.

    Turbo went on mine at 120k, got it out and refurbed. Cheap internal drivers door pull made of plastic required replacement, pig to do. Also had two injectors go over 140k, and the EGR went as you said they do (got mine mapped out instead). Also like you said is common, power steering pump and module died at 9 years/140k. Now after 13 years I need to replace the driver door lock, or perhaps just the micro switch. I'm not looking forward to doing that tbh,

    Maybe not a common problem, might have made a blunders due to my lack of knowledge but for new or 1st time car buyers, yeah you want a car with low mileage, but make sure it makes sense! - Mine was sat on a driveway most of the time before being sold to me so it was doing around 3-4k miles a year,
    Bought a 20156j 1.4NA with around 44k miles as my first car 3 months ago and just been slapped by a hefty repair bill for corrosion under the car due to what the mechanics assume is underuse and bad climate,
    Please make sure to check under the car before buying, if the exhaust is rusty, something else probably is too🫡

      DSGs are the only non-e gears that are remotely close to e-gears in terms of gear changing. I drove in one most recent Caddy, I was gobsmacked to the point, I was like WTF, this is the best auto-gear I have ever driven in. 😂

      17 reg with 24k miles for £6.5k?? That's a great price. But my guess is probably got problems or something like a Cat S

      @@hc7140 i understand, but listings are listings. You won't know unless you're in person inspecting the vehicle and a mechanic with you. Do a full history check, some websites like autotrader and eBay include full history checks, an MOT history check etc. go see it in person, test drive it. Don't get me wrong it's a great price, but sounds a little too good to be true for no issues whatsoever. I've been in the market for automatic transmissions for a friend, examples around 2010 & 2011 Ibiza's with 64-72k miles around £4800-£5600

      @@hc7140 I’m looking at Ibiza’s for my son now and he saw one that was going for £4,900 (2014, 34k miles). No issues mentioned on the listing so I spent £9 on totalcarcheck and glad I did.
      Turned out the car is listed as having Cat S damage when sold at a Salvage Auction (report shows photos of the damage etc).
      In short, doing these full HPI checks are absolutely necessary as not all dealers are upfront and honest.

    I'm planning on buying a 1.2 tsi one, early 2017 so one of the last ones made for this gen. Just under 40k miles on the clock, will probably double that during my ownership. Should I be concerned about potential chain issues?

    • @RJCO-OP
      @RJCO-OP ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a 1.2tsi Fr made in April 2017 and its got a timing belt so no chain to be concerned about. I did however have a fuel leak around the 40k. It was caused by 4 bolts holding down the fuel rail. 2 had broken oddly enough and the fuel injectors popped out slightly pouring out fuel. No issues with the car other than that and it's been 5 years. Just get those fuel rail bolts checked as it's an issue for other people on forums 👍
