I’d defo retail that for £3995 with the hope of getting between £3500-3900. It cleaned up really well and had a great spec. I reckon it would be gone in a few weeks. You’ve done as much as anyone should expect a used car dealer to do for that price: full MOT with no advisories, service including gearbox service (which I’ve never heard of a used car dealer EVER doing that voluntarily!) and dents repaired were possible. That should make somebody a really nice runaround. Let’s us know the outcome 👍🏻

I've spent around 15 years around the SEAT brand as an admin of an owners club, I've had two MK2 Leon's as well. That car is a MK2 Facelift model, it has a few "rare" extras on it such as the armrest and the door sill guards with "SEAT Sport" on them. In today's market worth 3k all day long with all the maintenance done. My old 2010 MK2 Cupra R had a dent on the door in that sport and the local guy managed to get it out.

Love this car, the colour on this one is also really nice. I have one from the same year, 2010. It's a 1.4TSI manual and it's running smoothly as ever. Bought it 3 years ago with 146.000km on the clock. Today it has 234.000km on the clock. I love driving this thing as you can see and living in the Netherlands we took it for a trip to Germany and France quite often. Serviced every 15.000km and it pays me back every time I'm taking it for a drive. The only complaint I would have is the interior of this generation has a lot of hard plastics. These type of automatics are, I think, quite rare & given that I have at least 3 friends who couldn't pass their test in a manual but managed to do so in an automatic, there could be a market for this vehicle out there. That 7 speed DSG has a dry clutch. Thus the clutch wear doesn’t contaminate the oil. It doesn’t need a service any more than any manual gearbox and in my experience they’re fairly reliable. The thing to watch out for is the clutch, because it’s right at the torque limit with the 1.6 tdi. I’d be careful if it’s a car with this drivetrain + a tow bar and/or a remap

Great video as always Matt :) Leon has scrubbed up well and nice colour too :) I used to have an A3 as a Company car with that same drive train (1.6 TDi & DQ 200 7 speed dry clutch DSG) It got driven fairly hard for 4 years / 100k and never has any issues with the box at all. I have same gearbox now in my Mk 3 Leon 1.8 Petrol and also fine but only 12k on that car so far. Its not the strongest DSG as someone already said and its torque limited to 250NM so only ever goes in the VAG cars with engines under 2 litres. From doing my own research I found 2 common failure points mentioned a lot, mechatronics unit failure & clutch packs wearing out, the latter of course will depend on how its been driven, i.e. letting car creep with foot half on brake will cause clutch wear on these gearboxes as they use a more traditional style clutch and not a torque converter, so maybe confirm costs with your gearbox people and weight it up from there based on worse case scenario....

With proper servicing the DSG boxes are great. I’ve had several without problems. My current one is on 192k, but I change the DSG fluid and filter every 35-38k.

    Hello Matt.
100% retail, this car deserves a forecourt spot for sure. Your reputation and honest videos, would surely ensure all buyers you are selling in good faith that the car is strong....
For the money this is a great car and with things as they are right now, if someone offered you 1000 cars in the same condition for the same initial trade in value with a little prep and financial outley..... you'd have a good start to the year and you'd sell a lot of these older, high mileage but still strong cars.... Mix these cars in with some newer higher valued stock and I'm sure you'd have a recipe for success.
As always great video and assessment of cars....
Keep up the great work Matt and get this car on the forecourt 👍
Muchas Gracias y Feliz Ano Nuevo para usted!

Nice Golfs these, it should be easily retailed with today's market trends.
What I never got with Seat is what exactly was/is VW group thinking; Skoda = 'cheap' VW (although they messed that up too), Audi = premium VW,.. Seat is supposed to be the 'youthful', in-between-VW and Skoda option but since they already overlap like 90%, is it worth holding up a whole car lineup just for the Spanish market...🙄

£3495 with a three month warranty Matt, think that’s as far as you can go with one that age.My mate had one be wary of a injector failure, Seat wanted£500 for the injector alone, put a can of cleaner through it and hopefully ok.

Great videos Matt keep it up. Those leons where a great car in their day. General rule of thumb on DSGs any of the lower powered cars will always use this the 7-speed dry gearbox. These are the ones that can be jerky and give issues. In fact they dont even have a service interval. VW will tell you they are sealed for life.
The 6 speed wet clutch (which is what you would find in the 2.0 diesel) is a much more robust unit. They have a service interval of every 40k.

    • @rejoicerone3176
      @rejoicerone3176 ปีที่แล้ว

Yaa that's the trouble with the DQ200, I wonder if it's cuz it's dry clutch, that's the reason VW doesn't want the oil changed cuz essentially it's a manual box with dry clutches and a mechatronic computer unit to control it and I don't hear manual gearbox oils being changed often do u

I,d retail it , as it will make an ideal family runabout for £2,500-£2,750. Its news to me that second hand car dealers now have to give guarantees on gear boxes, especially semi automatic ones. Back in the day you,d get a sour bowl of plums if the gearbox went pear shaped under 3 months down the line from any car dealer.

I Remember convincing my parents I need the top of the range one (apart from FR so I can have the xenon and rear LED lights) as it’ll be easy to see on country roads 😂 what a con but it worked! Many many many miles in this thing loved it. Unfortunately it got wrote off by a drunk driver (I still have a sore neck) NX12 VFU it was I miss it so much wonder where it is now 😀

Great video as always, personally I wouldn't trust those VW/Audi group autos as far as I could throw them, along with the ford powershift boxes. Id trade it, make a tidy few hundred quid's profit and be done with it. If you sell it off the forecourt at that mileage something will break, gearbox or otherwise, and then you are the one who has to pay to fix it, just my opinion.

Only serviced every 4000 miles. Mk2 have their issues (door locks leak water electrical issues there’s a list) but for a grand that’s a steel. No worth 4 maybe 3 tops when you can get an Fr for 3.5.

I have one of these. A 2012 1.4 TSI with a manual, similar mileage, and I had it from new.
When I bought it, I wanted a manual turbo VW golf. A manual because of reliability concerns. The only option was the GTI and it was too much money.
I must say, after that long, and that many miles, it still drives same as new, minus the carbon buildup on the valves I have yet to address, and shows itself as lack of power in low rpm.

Spot on spec, (as yourself not a auto box fan, also prefer 2.0TDI’s), good condition for age and mechanical seems good. A £4k Ono forecourt car…….don’t know why because of that value or age dealers avoid selling unless a £8-13k minimum level car’s dealer just don’t seem to want to get involved.

Consider doing a video on retailing used cars in England. Here in the US a used car is taxed on the total sale price, most states vary but 500 miles or 15 days is the minimum warranty some dealers give more and there are aftermarket warranty companies but their coverage only kicks in after the dealers warranty expires.
You mention MOT while some states here have a safety inspection, some have emissions and some have both however with dealer plates we can test drive anything even if safety or emissions is expired.
Now most states have basic requirements like good tires and working lights and speedometer some states really don't enforce it.
Also discuss what shop labor rates are, it seems your shop labor is cheap here in the US labor is $100-150/hr

DSG is faster accelerating than a manual box, and way more efficient than a traditional automatic. If they make it to 60k then thenusually last a long time. My daily is a 54 plate MK5 Golf TDI DSG and it drives great. Manual is more likely to need a flywheel as it's driven by a human!
