I'm a big Skoda Fabia fan, though I wouldn't contemplate an auto box (in fairness I've not much interest in any automatic transmission car). Terrific value for money, highly durable, good in the city, comfortable on the long motorway journeys. The current model looks good as well. Skoda all day for me.
I am hiring a Seat Ibiza Xcellent. I am very impressed ( not easily impressed- my car is a Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0). The Seat is comfortable, quiet, nice interior, reasonably quick and brilliant handling. The steering is really direct and go cart like).
Fact-check time. There was a lot in the video that is not true. Firstly, you can easily add the adjustable boot floor in all 3 cars, so the Skoda Fabia can have that. Secondly, I advise you to watch some POV drives of these cars. As far as the Fabia is concerned, when you are driving at 85 mph, the revs are exactly the same. So, when you drive the 5-speed 95bhp model, or the 6-speed 110bhp model, or the 7-speed DSG automatic 110bhp model, at 85 mph the revs are 3000rpm for all the engine/gearbox combinations. So why is this? Well, the 5-speed has a very long 4th and 5th gear. 1st, 2nd and 3rd are quite peppy and the car is quick enough. The turbo and peak torque is available between 1600 and 3500 rpm. I had a look at the VW Polo on TH-cam on a POV drive and the 5-speed was the same as the Fabia at 85 mph. So this seems to be a standard on all three cars. However, when I saw the 6-speed Audi A1 110bhp, the engine did seem to be a little less busy at 85mph. But of course it is an Audi, so horrendously expensive and not any more reliable than the VW. And not too well-equipped either. For the VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia, The 110bhp 6-speed manual has its torque from 2000-3000 rpm, a much narrower band. So the 6-speed has 6 shorter gear ratios. Obviously, the DSG 7-speed has something similar, but as far as motorway cruising are concerned, then the engine is doing the same number of revs. Worth bearing in mind is that the 95 TSI has 175nm torque and the 110bhp has 200nm, not a huge difference. But the biggest difference is price. the 95tsi costs less than the 110bhp 6-speed, and a lot less than the DSG. There are long waiting lists now for the DSG due to semiconductor chips. But if you want a manual it should only be 2 to 3 months if you order the car. To sum up, the 95 tsi is the cheapest and the most economical. For most people, it will be enough. I drive a 59bhp Skoda Citigo, so for sure the 60% increase in torque is enough. I would buy a Skoda. I have had 2, no problems. They are cheaper, well built and somehow more reliable than Audi, Seat or VW. Don't know what they are doing in the factory in Mlada Boleslav, perhaps just screwing them more tightly together:) yes, I know that's not true but anyway...
In Mlada Boleslav they are using normal people in the production process carefully selected by real requirements for the job and not using diversity, progressive, feminist and liberal rules. Also they do not use emigrants or stoners like in the BMW factories where someone could forget to screw the door sometimes. Anyways this will change in the distant future so enjoy the quality while you can.
I have a 2016 Polo with 6 manual gears and a 115hp engine, having that there’s no way I’d downgrade to 5 gears/95hp engine in the new polo, and pay the huge premium for it. I’d be the Seat for me, to me it looks even better too.
Correct me if I'm wrong but do you have a more powerful 1.2 TSI version? If you have the 1.2 TSI do you think that your car has worked perfectly with the higher tune? I have thought about ECU flashing my car to get it to around 120hp. I have the 105hp/6 gear version.
@@MartinA-xh9ck true, but the Octavia is a different type of hatchback, where the scala is more close in style to the golf and Leon plus has similar dimensions and boot space. The Octavia is a much bigger car in length and boot space.

I've owned 4 Skodas in the last 21 years. I'd be leaning towards the Skoda, even before I looked at or drove the others... I can't imagine what the issue was with the DSG box in the Fabia. The one I had in the Golf I had was excellent, with very smooth and quick changes. I could change the driver profile in my Golf though, with the option of Normal, Eco, Sport or the remaining one you could programme yourself... You could of course select gears yourself with the DSG if you wished, using it as a clutch-less manual box. The Sport option hung onto the gears too long for my liking... I stuck with Normal, and just let it get on with the job.
As for the VW Group I always found the brands to be like this: Skoda: Practical. Seat: Sporty. Audi: Luxury. Volkswagen: Mixture of Sporty, Practical and Luxury.
The Polo has the most equipment, and if you spec the others to that level they actually get more expensive than the Polo. I like the way the Polo looks, so that’s the one I’d pick
Tbh the Polo would be my last pick. I strongly disagree with your 2 main argues in its favor which are quality inside and feeling of a big car. I have been in the 3 of them and both the Ibiza and the Fabia looks bigger from the outside and give more space while inside. About the quality, imo the Polo have some premium parts and some very cheap. It did not gave me a higher quality feeling than the others 2. The Fabia is the obvious winner here. Cheapest, best looking inside and out, most spacious, most comfortable drive, plus Škoda always outranks both Seat and VW in terms of reliability. Škoda has become the best European car brand nowadays
I just went from a Leon mark 3 too a golf mark 7 and was surprised how different these feel. The golf feels a lot plusher thanks to some detailing like metal trim. It rides better at low speed, steering is much lighter. Sport was like the normal mode of the Leon. There's a decent difference between them then. Leon definitely felt sportier, golf more comfy. That adaptive cruise control is really good and the main reason I swapped brand as not available on the Leon. For everyday use golf is definitely better car, for a hoon I'd probably go for the seat. So it sounds quite similar to the superminis. The days of being able to get Skoda's for much less seem to have gone. 2nd hand Octavia estates were more than the Leon and similar price to golf with the right spec. Admittedly it is a bigger car but even so. Skoda now seems to major on practicality rather than price.
The reason 2nd hand Octavias are more expensive than Golf or Leon is probably because they are a lot more reliable. It's the same reason why used Toyotas and Hondas keep their value so well
@@TheEmperorOfTheWorld they should be fairly even as they share nearly all the same mechanicals although Skoda definitely has the better reputation for customer service. Reliability differences may well be more about who buys the cars, expectations and how they are used. Plus possibly some differences with electronics. No reason why an Octavia should be any more reliable than a Leon ST. The extra tech on the golf could cause more issues.
I have the polo 95bhp auto. I absolutely love it. You have to learn to put your foot down slightly more than you’d expect to get the gears where you need them but once you’ve got the knack of it, it’s a hoot to drive. It does feel bigger than it is. Had a Polo Style 2022 with 95BHP and 5 gears, and 17in wheels, for almost a year and 14,000 miles. It has plenty enough power on all roads, drives well, is comfortable and drives like a bigger car. I see a lot of reviews that say the VW is expensive and the Skoda cheap but this is not the case. If you spec-up a Skoda to the same as a Polo Style it will cost you quite a bit more, as will the Seat. I did compare the Fabia but they had a weird combination of extras - eg if you wanted one thing you had to pay for other extras you did not want. The VW IQ-lights are fabulous and I would definitely recommend them. Fuel consumption varies from around 52MPG to 59MPG depending on the journey and the weather.
Is an Ibiza XCellence (without sport chassis) still less comfortable than the 2 others ? I wish I could associate the sporty look with a much comfortable ride

Fantastic review. I've seen good reviews for the Fabia and was towards the top of my list but now I can see the value in the Polo. But I'd get the beefier turbo or even the GTI.

The VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Skoda Fabia are all good cars but after 25 years of owning VW Polos I'm taking delivery of a 4 month old 2024 Polo Style and looking forward to it.
Seemed a bit skewed to me. Big car feel without having more interior space than the others is just self-deception. These models didn’t appear to be at the same price-point. Wouldn’t it make sense to either have three cars with most similar specs (and compare the prices and performance etc) or three at the same price-point to compare specs and performance etc?
When I connect my phone with android or ios operating system to this 8.25-inch multimedia system, a black unusable bar appears on the left side of the screen. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? It is very annoying.
If you buy the seat fr from 20/21 you get it all. They downgraded the car, to good. The new polo r line is exactly like a seat ibiza 20/21 inside but 12.000€ more...?
I'm confused how is the Seat Ibiza Latin flare? Geography isn't my strongest subject but doesn't Latin mean Italian not Spanish. Also Ibiza is a Spanish island, where is the Latin flare?
Both the Polo and Fabia are much bigger than their predecessors. I had a first generation Skoda Fabia and am considering a mark v VW Polo as its replacement.
I drove both, the Polo and the Fabia. While the Fabia is comfortable and silent the Polo is incredible noisy. Sorry Volkswagen, but Skoda can do it much better!
Wouldn't buy any of these. Long term TSI engines can be troublesome. for example excessive oil consumption, ignition coil failures and faulty oxygen sensors to name a few. You might get an owner reporting that they have not suffered any reliability issues with TSI engines but they have just been lucky. The issues that I have mentioned are well documented and are known in the trade.
I wonder, why they correctly pronounce Ibiza but škoda, that should be pronounced like "shkoda" like a first letter in "SHY" or "SHAME" it is correctly pronounced "Shkoda"
Skoda for me. VW quality is just perceived. I cannot see why people would want a Polo, costing more for a car thats basically nit as good lookijg nor as well ewuipped as the fabia. The seat looks too old here, so that rules that out.
But Indians🇮🇳 not have the choice to buy this three fantastic and super build quality cars ........😭😭😭😭 VW has announced seat will enter the Indian car market and VW will launch polo and his another brother Fabia but till now VW not taken a small step ..... ....... I am waiting 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Compared to the current Clio and 208, these three look so stodgy and outdated. VW Group have really underwhelmed with their designs of late, totally under-exploiting Seat's potential in particular, I find.
Maybe with the 208 but comparing with the Clio on the Polo you have Wireless android auto, Digital display and basically you are buying a VW with all the three models here instesd of a French car.
I think this review is comparing Apples, Pears, and uh Oranges! At least pick the vehicles that are of similar specs. You can't compare a 5 speed manual gearbox car (Polo) with a 7 DSG model (Skoda).
The Polo is miles ahead in looks, and build quality you pay for what you get, and how could anyone drive a Skoda they were so bad in the 70's, and the Seat will probably have a lot of rattles and noises I had a self drive for a while and it was crap
I don't think there is a build quality difference, since probably all three are build in the same factory (I don't know exactly for the Skoda, but the polo is produced in Spain)
I'd go with the Skoda... they seem to have this magical ability to somehow build reliable vehicles with VW components.
And it looks more polo than polo

The Fabia can have a variable boot floor as an optional extra as part of the Comfort packages. I stopped watching this review at that point.
Ibiza the best of three
A very late correction the Polo has 351 litres, not 335 litres with the seats up.
Seat the best looking, but Škoda is probably the best choice..
so how does polo have big car feeling when all these share the same base or at least are very similar in size?
seat ibiza fr 1,5cc 150hp dsg7
Seemed a bit skewed to me. Big car feel without having more interior space than the others is just self-deception. These models didn’t appear to be at the same price-point. Wouldn’t it make sense to either have three cars with most similar specs (and compare the prices and performance etc) or three at the same price-point to compare specs and performance etc?
I don't believe the reviewer was referring to the interior room, rather its interior quality and refinement on the road.
Ibiza is my choice
I also prefer Fabia for the space.
Hi Rebecca, Great review. Slightly O/T but do you any good estates that sell Ferraris where I can also graze my pet newt?
This size of car deserves a manual gearbox. Fabia the best car here
All the same underneath. Which one would you pick ?
When I connect my phone with android or ios operating system to this 8.25-inch multimedia system, a black unusable bar appears on the left side of the screen.
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
It is very annoying.
not in the car manual?
If you buy the seat fr from 20/21 you get it all. They downgraded the car, to good. The new polo r line is exactly like a seat ibiza 20/21 inside but 12.000€ more...?
I'm confused how is the Seat Ibiza Latin flare?
Geography isn't my strongest subject but doesn't Latin mean Italian not Spanish. Also Ibiza is a Spanish island, where is the Latin flare?
Latin=Italian,Spanish,Portughese,Romanian,Catalan.
Skoda the best by far
🧢
Dear Team, the video is good and informative but the background is too loud!
Both the Polo and Fabia are much bigger than their predecessors. I had a first generation Skoda Fabia and am considering a mark v VW Polo as its replacement.
Seat Ibiza for me I will be getting my 3rd car in 2024.
I take Seat Ibiza very sporty car
I wonder, why they correctly pronounce Ibiza but škoda, that should be pronounced like "shkoda" like a first letter in "SHY" or "SHAME" it is correctly pronounced "Shkoda"
Why do you pronounce ibiza like that? z's too hard to pronounce or are you mike tysons long lost daughter?
And while we’re there, it’s Fabia, not Farbia
British people always say ibi-tha instead of Ibi-za. It’s just a thing.
@@dj_efk The Czechs say Fabia so I'll stick with that pronunciation 😄
@@oliverstemp9132in Spanish z is pronounced as th, we go to ibitha on holiday not ibeeza
I'm cheap & practical, I would go for Dacia Sandero/Sandero Stebway
Skoda Fabia 1.5 TSI, 150 ps, DSG7, 50lt-tank outperforms all.
Lol that would be way to pricy
Seat ibiza cupra.. 170 hp stock.
A bit of badge snobbery going on here big time. Skoda every day .
Drove a Skoda Fabia when I was traveling to Europe and it felt very flimsy with poor handling. I can compare it to Kia Forte in the US.
Kia Forte is a big car....and Fabia is a supermini...One could write about Fabia being slow compared to Porsche...
Skoda for me. VW quality is just perceived. I cannot see why people would want a Polo, costing more for a car thats basically nit as good lookijg nor as well ewuipped as the fabia. The seat looks too old here, so that rules that out.
Skoda fabia is my number one pick as I have been in so many Skoda cars...Octavia Fabia and Superb.
Extremely reliable comfortable and practical
Skoda, especially now with the equipment. TSI SE-L 95
Latin flair? Sorry but Seat a Spanish manufacturer 😆 I'd take the fabia
All 3 are as big as a MK4 golf, and more practical
I'd say the New Ibiza is the best Looking car of all 3
The Polo is not even in the running. Have had 2 Ibizas and a Fabia over the years; liked the Skoda but loved the Seat.
…. The not so distant cousin….. the Audi A1..?
'Farbia' or Fabia? After all, we don't say 'farbulous'.
Exactly! Same as graaarss and baaaarth and Paarthhhh. There is no R in Fabia or bath or path. And only one in grass .
But Indians🇮🇳 not have the choice to buy this three fantastic and super build quality cars ........😭😭😭😭 VW has announced seat will enter the Indian car market and VW will launch polo and his another brother Fabia but till now VW not taken a small step ..... ....... I am waiting 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
in short, there is no reason to buy polo. ibiza is for the drivers, skoda is for families
So the result is exactly what we knew already
I would go with ibiza
Compared to the current Clio and 208, these three look so stodgy and outdated. VW Group have really underwhelmed with their designs of late, totally under-exploiting Seat's potential in particular, I find.
There’s no way the new Fabia looks outdated when it’s brand new and stunningly gorgeous.
Maybe with the 208 but comparing with the Clio on the Polo you have Wireless android auto, Digital display and basically you are buying a VW with all the three models here instesd of a French car.
VW Group cars are far superior to the offerings from France. Mon Dieu!
@@RiminiVirage I mean, not necessarily at all, and they really don't rank very highly on consumer satisfaction surveys.
True but Clio and 208 have 1.2 Pute Tech, a disaster of an engine.
Vw messed up the Polos looks with this facelift
Defo the Fabia for ride comfort and value.
on some fabia model you get more things, so fabia its soo great.
SEAT FR 1.5 for me....
Did anyone notice that the Polo looks like a dud with the Facelift?
I think this review is comparing Apples, Pears, and uh Oranges! At least pick the vehicles that are of similar specs. You can't compare a 5 speed manual gearbox car (Polo) with a 7 DSG model (Skoda).
its closer contest between skoda fabia and volkswagen polo
Dacia Sandero comfort bi -fuel. Brilliant car
Seat every time!
Wtf so bad in 70's has to do with 2020?🤣🤣🤣 what shtty arguement, polo is trash you only get 3 culinder 110hp for 25k what a shame
all that extra equipment? since when did VW give you that, you mean extra options list lol
