It would have been perfectly reasonable if every tile wasnt a pokemon encounter square. If they'd made a path maybe out if shallow water or something that was clear of pokemon like the paths on land it would have been much more pleasant.

I agree, I just hate how it's all at the end of the game, making using ground or rock types almost unusable for the 7th and 8th gyms. If the water was more evenly distributed, I'd probably love it

8:06 The problem with this is that Pokemon and moves are often renamed in English. Your example of Infernape learning Inferno makes sense in English, but in Japanese, Inferno is called Purgatory. So it doesn't work.
In addition, Japanese Pokémon names are almost entirely different to their English names. for example, the Japanese name for Incineroar is Gaogaen, which does not contain the word "roar" at all.

Here's my Hot Take:
Gen 5 didn't have quantity over quality. The pokemon look perfectly fine and don't look any worse in comparison to previous or even future generations. You just don't like the idea of pokemon being based off of objects despite that being Gen 5's main theme.
How does that relate to the post game
Gen 1 had PLENTY of pokemon based on objects too, a lot of gens do. We have a rock with a face, toxic waste puddles, six eggs, a poke ball with a face, and a bunch of magnets. Also some just look like regular animals. Charizard, Pikachu, Eevee, Mewtwo, the legendary birds, Alakazam, and Rhydon are awesome pokemon as much as I think Haxorus, Elektross (Needs nerf but I still like it), Zekrom Reshirham, Zororark and Scolipede are. I also like Lucario, Entei, Rayquaza, Incineroar, Greninja and Zamazenta. I like ALL gens. But if you disagree, I respect your opinion. I don't have a problem with opinions of Genwunners, or any extremists, I only have problems with people bashing other people's opinions.

There's no use giving baby forms to Pokemon that are already extremely weak with a BST of under 300, but there's no use giving Mega Evolutions for Pokemon that are already absurdly overpowered with a BST of 500 or over either.
A BST of 500 isn't and never was "absurdly overpowered".

Baby forms were never included for stats. They’re mostly for people who quite reasonably look at Jynx or Mr. Mime and think, “Wow I wish this Pokémon were less hideous.” People play Pokémon for all sorts of reasons, including gushing over how cute some of them are, as we’ve seen with Snom and Goomy.
gamefreak plays favorites and always will, they care more about the brand than the content.

To be fair, the reason why people dislike Frustration is because there’s literally no way to use the move at max power since almost everything you do raises a Pokémon’s friendship, not because they’re actively trying to make the move bad

Exactly. You may use various methods to lower a Pokémon's friendship to 0, but then you walk around for a little, and the friendship value increases again. It's a pain to achieve max friendship, but it's also a pain to maintain minimum friendship.
If you’re not using it in a playthrough, just in battle, you can basically feed them a bunch of herbs then let them get knocked out, then fly to the Pokémon Center and box them immediately.

I shouldn’t have to bother feeding my Pokemon bitter medicine to use a move. Even Pokemon that are annoying to get to max friendship like legendaries don’t take long if you give then a Soothe Bell and start performing friendship raising actions.
To be honest, I think that the Ultra Beasts were actually well designed, seeing how they weren't supposed to be designed as pokemon, but alien pokemon. I mean sure, Xurcitree (thats probaly how you spell it) is just wires, but hey, you never know what you might get from an alien species, its umpredictable (plus i love Xurcitree).

Hot take: galarian yamask's evolution was unique and i liked it, we need more evolution methods that aren't just levelling up your pokemon or using an item, maybe not as crazy as galarian yamask but still original
I like the concept of the evolution method, BUT if theyre going to do stuff like that they need to actually hint at it with the dex entry and put some runes on the archway you need to walk through

Here's another hot take: I like the "Use a certain move a certain number of times to evolve it" evolution method a lot. I'm including it as a common evolution method for the regional Pokedex for my new, self-made Pokémon region

I don’t care if this video came out a while ago but. Hot Take:
The gen 5 designs aren’t bad. People go insane because ice cream and garbage pokemon but ignore grimer, magnemite and voltorb completely. And unova has some really cool designs. Think: Scolipede, Leavanny, Krookodile, Sigilyph, Scrafty, Volcarona, Hydreigon, Beartic, Archeops, Braviary, Durant heck even Pokemon that you never see anyone talk about like accelgor or crustle.
I think generation 2 has much worse Pokémon than gen 5. A lot of them just seem either less creative and forgettable: Ledian, Ariados, Igglybuff, Cleffa, Sunflora, Magcargo, etc. or placeholders for better Pokémon: Gligar, Girafarig, Quilfish, Sneasel, piloswine, etc and the only reason why people don’t criticize them is because of nostalgia.

Hot take: Bipedal starters aren’t inherently bad, as long as it is necessary for their origins. Imagine a regular cat trying to be a heel or a regular rabbit kicking flaming balls, it would look awkward as hell. That’s why Samurott doesn’t work for me, seeing it carrying a giant shell blade while still on all fours just doesn’t work at all
Scorbunny is already bipedal anyways unlike Litten. I believe Samurott can walk on two legs it it can. Just watch the BW anime (tell me if I’m wrong)...
The one pokemon they should've made bipedal. Imo its not even a bad design, it just doesn't seem like it belongs as the final form of oshawott.

Samurott isn´t bipedal though. That´s like saying that a dog is bipedal just because it stands on its hind legs for a moment.
I think the bipedal complains are not about bipedal pokemon in general, I think it's more like the pokemon that look human like, and the fact that every single fire starter is bipedal in it's last stage (Typhlosion is a weird case since most of the time it's standing on it's 2 legs rather than on all 4).
Cinderace makes sense, since Scorbunny and Raboot were humanoid to begin with, and the athletic theme is seen throughout the entire line, so it's a good transition into a soccer rabbit. The thing with Incineroar though is it comes out of nowhere. It makes no sense that we randomly get a humanoid tiger wrestler from two quadrapedal cats. At least with Delphox, we had Braixen to bridge the gap between it and Fennekin, and got the message across that it would be a mage. Nothing about Litten or Torracat screams wrestler. Not to mention it's the only time a Starter has completely changed the kind of stat spread they have in the final evolution. Litten and Torracat are speedy attackers, but then become bulky and slow as Incineroar. It just makes it seem more forced.
Hot take: Chicorita isn’t bad, Johto just bullies grass types.

Chikorita is literally my favorite. It's probably the weakest starter objectively, but I love them anyway. :)
The grass type had its time to shine in Kanto because it had most of the types that grass was good against and since Johto didn’t repeat any gym types, most of the gyms were hard for grass types

Actual facts
My first SM playthrough was with a popplio, and I've gotta say it was the most fun out of the three. The slowness of them all is terrible, but primarina has the bulk and STAB to win in the end. Basically nothing can take a combination of Sparkling Aria, Moonblast, and Energy Ball.
I solo'd the entire elite four in that game with basically just moonblast and sometimes sparkly aria.
I almost picked popplio but I have literally never picked anything but the water type in all the games, so I went with rowlet. Ngl I kinda regret it now.
When he showed the best starters, I disagreed with all of them except froakie and I thought of what my favourites were for each generation and for the worst one, HE PUT ALL OF MY FAVOURITES EXCEPT HOENN STARTER
Same here buddy, five out of eight pokemons are my favs in his worst starters, and in his best starters, five out of two was my least favorites! Just to let you know Litten and Cyndaquil aren't bad, but Tricko, Charmander and Snyvie...

In my opinion, Delphox is overhated. It may not be my favorite fire type starter Pokemon ever, but I don't think there's anything inherently "wrong" about it in particular, so much as people nitpicking it's bad qualities. I also think that by extension, Braixen is overrated; I personally think that the final evolution of a starter Pokemon is it's most important, and I personally don't like the idea of not fully evolving your starter, either

I really liked the Zarude movie. Maybe it’s because it takes inspiration from Tarzan, a super good story, but the characters are interesting, the plot is heartfelt, and it managed to make an ecosystem with Pokémon seem real. Anything with Billy Kametz can’t be bad honestly.

I don’t mind Pokémon being humanoid as long as they stay close to their origins. Incineroar makes sense to me because tigers are incredibly muscular but Pheromosa looks uncanny to me because it’s too humanoid and not enough “bug”
@@noodlesandeggs1512 Could be intentional since Pheromosa is an Ultra Beast, which are supposed to be unsettling. Compare to Buzzwole, another UB of the same typing that also appears especially humanoid.
@@danielleanderson6371 Well yeah I get that it’s an ultra beast it’s just that I feel like it’s “anthropomorphism” could of been played out better. I think it’s the face. Buzzwole has a humanoid body but has 4 legs and a insect face and looks great.
It’s always fascinating to see what Pokémon the fandom decides to hate. Ever since they decided to choose violence against Gen V I’ve stayed away from most of the angrier parts of the fandom, but every now and then I’ll learn that some random Pokémon I absolutely love is completely reviled by the loudest, angriest part of the community. Blacephalon is a great example. It’s design is fantastic, especially as an Ultra Beast. It really fits in with other faceless horrors like Nihilego, Xurkitree, and Kartana. Another good example is Vanillite. People talk about how much they love the simple Gen I designs, and Vanillite is an excellent example of a later take on that aesthetic. Really the only thing that bothers me about its evolution line is they didn’t get the Fairy typing.
the elemental monkeys are very hated... but I like them and idk if I just have bad taste or whatever--makes me kinda sad tbh
7:44 Frustration is a horrible move to use in an actual game because the more you use a pokemon, the more friendship it gets so basically the more you use that pokemon, the weaker frustration gets. Although on the other side, if you use return instead of frustration, it gets stronger the more you use that pokemon.
Few things:
* piplup is good but the rest of his line ruins it for him
*blacephalon is weird but thats ok cause ultra beasts are meant to be weird
* i dont mind pokemon being objects

The most pointless pokemon in existence is phione

Frustration is great for “hardcore” type rulesets or romhacks, since you lose so many times trying to beat certain trainers. Sure, you can reset, but even then a party member is pretty much guaranteed to die in the end.

3 of the Pokemon he put in "the worst starters for that gen" were actually the best for that region. Bulbasuar is the best for Kanto, Tepig is the best for Unova and Popplio is the best for Alola

Late take, but I feel that pokemon who HAD moves signature to them should get their own signature ANIMATIONS. I feel that would be fair and allow pokemon like kartana who should learn leaf blade still have it

@@metageek7878 oh i didnt relize darkest lariat and sparkling aria had signature animations. But i know leafblade, hydro cannon, and waterfall (ya that was signature at one point) don’t.
Crash is never going to be part of Smash because he is literally a mix between Sonic and Mario. An anthropomorphic creature (like sonic), red and blue colored (like Mario) that jumps on boxes (also like Mario), fights againts an evil scientist (like Sonic) and collects gems (also like Sonic).
Also as far as I can see it:
Legendaries: They´re literal forces of nature that helped to shape the world and/or heroes for humanity or for all pokemon/an entire region.
Mythical pokemon: They are really powerful pokemon with unique abilities that are so uncommon to be seen that people in the pokemon world even doubts of their existence to some extend. In the past, they were sometimes considered almost like minor deities for specific towns and cities but their main trait is that they are literal representations of certain myths from the real world (like muses, aliens, time travelers, cyborgs, etc).
Ultra beast: They´re basically pokemon from another dimension. Not legendaries. The share a lot of traits with legendaries (like being genderless, having scripted encounters and being part of the undiscovered group, etc) but this is due to their whole concept as extradimensional unidentified creatures.
You're telling me the game that constantly gets memed for adding characters that are similar to ones we already have isn't gonna add a character that has some similarities to characters we already have
Honestly I always just interpreted Ultra Beasts as a Pokemon from THAT dimension, like here it isn't common at all because extra dimensional but maybe there it is everywhere (especially Buzzwhole those plants are everywhere in his dimension) Guzzlord is probably and exception

The sun is made of 99% nitrogen so steel still doesnt make sense

It's still boring and doesn't immediately make sense to the average person seeing as the Sun is commonly associated with fire (see Sunny Day of how its weather effects certain move types).

My hot take is:
Black and whites animated sprites aren’t as great as people say. Their movement feels a bit weird and perhaps TOO smooth, somehow. and the pixels can look awkward when the sprites are zoomed in during battles.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still impressive they animated the sprites for all of the Pokémon at the time, but imo they don’t look that great.
My hot take: Pokémon Sun and Moon Anime Series is really overhated as f and it is really a good show

There is a difference between animation style and character design. The animation in the show is dynamic, fluid and expressive. The character design was simplified for smooth movement .

Frontier is good. People don't like it just because it's different from the previous Digimon series. It's the same case as Pokemon Sun and Moon. Pokemon Sword and Shield, however, isn't really good.

About hacking: totally agree. My biggest hot take has to be that cheating is perfectly fine so long as it isn't negatively impacting the experience of other players and everyone is aware of it. Who am I to dictate how other people have fun if it isn't even affecting me?
If you and your friend want to have a private battle with hacked movesets knock yourselves out, just make sure you're not dragging unwitting participants into it or using these pokemon in competitions.

In regards to the whole "no need for a dolphin Pokemon" thing, we kinda technically already have one via Kyogre. I know it's based on the Leviathan, but design wise it shares some similar features with orcas, which are members of the dolphin family.

Pokémon is fun. I don’t care what you think, but there is not a Pokémon game that isn’t somewhat fun. The people at game freak put their heart and soul into these games and I think it’s time to stop being whiny little brats and just enjoy Pokémon games for what they are.
Yea, im totally fine with people criticizing the games for technical or graphical issues, but when people say its because “the developers are lazy” its annoying because they clearly put a lot of heart into making the games and having fun with it. If they were just going through the motions then there wouldnt be nearly as many modern pokemon who’s designs are incredibly rooted in real life myths and animals

Here's my hot take, HGSS are the most overrated Pokémon games. Yeah they are pretty good but they have flaws that if those issues were in the modern Pokémon games people would always point them out but since HGSS is a older game not many people point out it's issues as much, such as having an awful level curve and level balance, having a limited regional dex, having one of the worst plots in any Pokémon game, etc. Sure going to Kanto and having the Battle Frontier and having Pokémon follow you is good and all, but there is way more to Pokémon then just that, a good post game doesn't need Kanto as we've seen Multiple times with other games, and there are other good things in a Pokémon post game besides a Battle Frontier, also Pokémon Amie/Refresh is better then Pokémon just simply following you.
HGSS is second place, I finished platinum the other day and it’s nowhere near as good as people say it is. Let alone the best.

Hot Take: Generally, I don't have a problem with people hacking in Pokemon, unless they're hacking in shinies. It feels lazy to me, and it doesn't help that a lot of the people I've met who do that are sooooo obnoxious about it.

The power of us movie was actually pretty good, it really showed how the anime could be way more interesting if they had more protagonists than just "dumb, naive, excited boy". Its one of the only pokemon movies that I would actually be willing to sit through more than once

Hot take: Goh is overhated mainly because he’s doing what the franchise’s slogan says, “Gotta Catch ‘em All!”. His Pokéballs acting like Master Balls is annoying sometimes, but honestly, he shouldn’t really be hated solely cause of that cause if Ash did what he does in previous generations, would people hate him? I don’t love Goh or anything cause he’s definitely flawed, I think he’s alright as a character, but hating him solely because he’s doing what Ash didn’t do for the past seven generations seems a bit unfair to me, although the concept of Goh’s goal does show why Ash catching every Pokémon he sees is a bad idea since he’d either have to rotate his team a lot or just not use most of his catches at all, which could anger a lot of fans

-I don't like Infernape, its whole evolution line kinda sucks. Though they aren't bad designs, I just don't like them

-Gen 7 was good (this shouldn't be a hot take, but yet it is)
-Island trials and totem pokemon were better than gyms
-Hoenn's starters are the least interesting
-There aren't really any bad pokemon designs, the inspirations might be dumb, but the designs aren't (except Electrode)
-Sinnoh is a bad region. It's designed to slow you down (as if the games weren't already slow enough) with things like fog and snow. Also, all of its routes (except the snowy ones) look nearly indistinguishable. It's not fun to traverse

i consider gen 8 to have the the least interesting starters, when the starter final evolutions were spread all over the internet, i didn't even know who to pick because they all were kinda dumb to me, i just picked grookey because rillaboom had an afro thingy
Here is my take on what you just said:
1) Infernape is one of my favorite evolution lines of sll time but it ain't my favorite
2) Chikorita is my 5th least favorite starter of sll time and I hate it.
3) most middle evolutions are stupid or awkward. Just look at prinplup and combusken.
4) gen 7 is one of my least favorite gens of all time. Here's why: the island trials are condescendingly easy, it's laughable, z moves are the worst generational gimmick, unskippable cutscenes, it's too linear, the handholding is bad, the kanto pandering is somehow much worse than kalos. Most unique z moves are given to gen 1 pokemon, all the alola forms are gen 1 and there is yet another gen 1 remake which btw are some of the worst pokemon games.
4) Island trials are too easy and are a commendable but poor attempt at changing gyms. Why introduce a nuke button that can ohko everything alongside a boss pokemon with only slight increases to stats? I ohko'd most totem pokemon with Z moves. Kahunas are too easy too.
5) this is subjective so I'll just say that I disagree.
6) nah, just look at goth girl and plague doctor dancer.
7) and this is what I disagree with the most. How is it not fun to travel? It has the best route music, the routes have a optional location philosophy which I love, the hike up Mt. Coronet felt awesome and the cities and routes are much more interesting then boring alola. Alola is just too linear and boring too.
