What I found living in Tennessee. Take your shirt off, dunk it in a bucket of water and put it back on. It keeps your body temperature cooler so you don't get as much fatigue and a lot less heat sickness after the fact.

I grew up here in Texas (111 degrees often ish) and I’m still here. I’ve got my family’s ranch that I work on so the heat isn’t an issue to much. But I’m doing welding after high school so this video is a good refresher on what I should be doing if I can’t hop in the truck from time to time.

I work in an aluminum smelter as a maintenance mechanic . Its 450 degrees F on the running aluminum pots . But in my past I was a pipe welder and boiker tube welder and CWI . So I did the traveling construction / outage lifestyle . Lots of water , beach umbrella for shade when possible or a tarp ( emergency space blankets are awsome ). Acclimation to heat is key.

50-75 *C No:5 Blast furnace reline Australia, gas monitor would go off and you got out for 10 mins or so every couple of hours .
I think that was the hottest.
Working inside a ships hold on a 40 *C day and it was 44 *C inside the hold sucked, 12 hr shifts.
But i worked with good people and it was a good learning experience.

145 degrees in a power plant scrubber, a few hours after the plant was shut down.. Working as a laborer, cleaning out the ash so that the boilermakers could weld. Experiences like that are just one of the many reasons I’m getting into welding. I’d much rather be a fitter and be semi-comfortable than be the first one in a boiler cleaning and sandblasting it, and then afterwards listen to the boilermakers complain about how dirty their job is. But honestly all the credit goes to them; Watching them brother-in-law water wall and weld with a mirror really inspired me. I’ve watched some insanely skilled boilermakers and fitters, but from what I’ve seen, fitters have a brighter future.

Summer '05 Vegas, South Point Casino, the ballroom/showroom no air movement was about 129 F inside there. It had it's own cloud from the vapor of every one's sweat, humidity was pretty high in there. So working on fan coils it was miserable up there in a scissor lift.

About 110 in a Dallas Spud warehouse processing plant ( All Aircon ventilation was off being serviced ), But the biggest savior was having 3M Speedglas 9100X FX Welding Helmet Hood With an Adflo Filtering Respirator, This set up blows filtered air down across your face , Adflo also do a hood with a vortex compressed air cooling system, you connect compressed air to the unit ( these in can get cold enough too freeze water ) , and it ducts that super cooled air to your helmet and down over your face, I would say look into them but they are spendy

Rained slightly on and off during the day for about 5 minutes at a time creating the humidity.
