  • This week we go over how to smoke a pork butt (pulled pork) on the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. Follow for more Ninja Wood Fired Outdoor Grill recipes!
    7.5 Lbs, 6 Hours, 1 Dry rub - Its that easy! Remove excess fat from pork shoulder and score the fat cap for a tasty bite sized appetizer. Lather with a binder for your rub, (I use mustard, but you can get crazy with it) then apply your favorite pork rub and coat on all sides. Once unit has preheated, place pork butt fat side up on the grill grates and close. Check the temp after 4 hours, and mop the pork every hour and a half with a vinegar based mixture. (I use 1/4th Apple Cider Vinegar, 3/4 water and add the dry rub that I used for the pork).
    Once your temp reaches between 194-203F, you can remove from smoker. Let rest for at least 10 minutes, then using heat resistant gloves, pull pork apart with hands. Dip in your favorite bbq sauce and enjoy!

    I was a complete electric grill skeptic but this video (and Costco’s sale) convinced me to try. I made a 7 pound pork shoulder exactly like you did in the video and this is hands down the easiest and most amazing thing I’ve have ever made. The only thing I did different was add additional pellets to keep it under smoke for the first 1.5 hour. This little grill is amazing! Ps. Yes yes yes to scoring and sample the “bark bites” during the cook.

    if you want a smoke ring you need to do about 3 or 4 smoke cycles. refill the pellet hopper every 45 minutes or so and hold the woodfire tech button about 3 secs to reignite the pellets if needed.

    Looking to getting one of these. When I smoke a butt on my stick burner, once the butt reaches 160-ish stall temp, I wrap it until it hit 203* and then let it rest wrapped in a cooler for about an hour before pulling it apart. Practically falls through my fingers. This video made me hungry.

      definitely! You can see our full review here (th-cam.com/video/qiGIFVVlb0I/w-d-xo.html) with all the pros and cons, but the more I use it, the more I love it. We just took it to the beach this weekend and smoked/grilled all sorts of seafood.

    What does wrapping mean? I have just seen your channel for the first time I’m not experienced with smoking, but I’m gonna buy this device. Would love to know more about how to wrap it and when to wrap it.

    • @KennasKitchen
      @KennasKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people wrap when you just cant get anymore smoke on your meat. I like to wrap midway through a Pork Butt, because it helps the internal temperature through the stall, keeps juices inside, and moistens up my exterior. I use butcher paper when I wrap, because it is more permeable than tin foil, which can sometimes overcook your meat.

    The smoker function on this thing sucks. The smoke box only lasts an hour and if you want to add more you have to unplug the machine and plug it back in and put it on smoke so the smoke box heater turns back on again. I should of bought a real pellet grill

    • @KennasKitchen
      @KennasKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you catch it before it goes out, you don't have to unplug the unit, it will just continue to burn. That being said, this is a very introductory level grill/smoker, that makes it convenient for even the most amateur smoker and griller to get in on the game!

    Shy $400! Ninja got greedy, I can do everything same of this. Can't smoke, and I saw other videos, not good. The pellet box, too small. Smokes for a little bit. Not a couple hours? I'm not paying for it.

    • @KennasKitchen
      @KennasKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, $400 is a lot compared to other grills that have much larger cooking surfaces. However it is a great unit for people who may live in apartments, or travel often and want a small unit that can do it all.
      As far as the pellet box, it is small but you can refill it during cooks if you want too. One box full lasts roughly 1 hour.

      Personally, I'm planning on only using Ninja pellets in mine until the warranty period is over. I don't want to void the warranty by using another brand of pellets. From what I've read, the Ninja pellets are designed for smoke only not heat, like traditional pellets.
