I just had a similar experience. Bass Pro had them at $369 but Costco had them at $229. I was on the fence about paying for the XL or the oven, but I got this one and don't regret it one bit. It'll still cook a whole chicken just fine. I completely ignore the Ninja cooking guide. CJ has been right on the money so far.

I've had my Wood Fire Grill now for about three weeks, and I'm loving it. My husband actually used it first, smoking a Boston Butt (he's a Traeger guy. :) The result was pretty fabulous. The BEST tip I gleaned from your videos is how it's possible to cook with the lid up. I searched everywhere to find how to best use the griddle, and didn't find anything at all, even on the Ninja website. Thanks, CJ. I'm looking forward to many hours of fabulous food on my Wood Fire!

I am also delighted to find you blessed us with lots of cooks/grills as well, I'll be checking those out as well. Our complex outlawed grills last year and my fiance is ready to destroy heaven and earth because she loves grilled food. This seems like a great option. The price is steep but I think my sanity is worth at least that much.

Someone posted on Reddit a picture of their chicken wings, saying they were smoked then air fried. I was intrigued and have done a ton of research in just 2 days and purchased mine online through Walmart of all places. They had the cheapest price. It will arrive tomorrow and I'm ahead of the game just by watching several of your videos. Reviewing them beforehand has been a huge help and I will feel more confident to use it. I've learned how to use it, clean it, and cook with the top open. Thanks and glad I found your channel.

CJ great video as always. You’re the reason why I bought the outdoor grill and I love it! I bought it for my camper but during the winter I’ve been using it in the backyard. You mentioned the indoor grill, do you like it as much as the outdoor grill? If not all of the pellets get used in the pellet box do you just add more for your next smoke session or discard them? 👍🙏👏🇺🇸

Thank you for your great content. My # 1 tip is to purchase the Ninja Flat Top Griddle Plate accessory !!! The reason why is because of the SUPER EASY clean up. If you are not grilling, but smoking, air frying, roasting, etc. (and not need grill marks) the flat top griddle is so easy to clean the smooth surface. I use a simple wire baking rack to keep the protein off of the heat of the flat top, and let the drippings etc. just drop onto the surface which wipes / rinses off easily and not have to contend with the regular grill plates peaks and valleys. I use my Ninja grill about 3 or 4 times a week and the easy clean up between uses makes it a pleasure. So far so good that I have no scratches from the simple wire baking rack resting on the tough nonstick surface.

Here's my #1 tip for grilling: Since it's way too inefficient to wait for the pellet ignition and pre-heating to finish before adding the food, I add it right from the beginning, so the food is exposed to as much smoke as possible and it can start cooking during the pre-heat. I've made burgers that turned out perfectly (if anything, a bit overcooked) before the pre-heat had even finished.
Waiting for the ignition and pre-heating to finish before adding the food wastes valuable smoke-infusion time, IMO. My strategy has been working well with burgers and steaks so far, and I can definitely tell the difference in smoke flavor compared with waiting to add them after the pre-heat.
Anyway, to each their own, but that's my 2 cents.

    Adding more pellets:
I've had success with adding small amounts frequently. If I was filling more than half, they wouldn't catch. I didn't know the hold for 3 seconds part though because I didn't read the manual. I will need to try that.

I've just placed my brisket on based off your previous video. Fingers crossed.
Tip for northern users. I kept my pellets outside in Temps below 40 degrees. I thought my grill was broken because they wouldn't ignite. After measuring, I placed them in a glass bowl, microwaved for 30 seconds and the problem was solved.
Side note, dehydrate with smoke makes a great smoked cheese. Not many videos on this but I parlayed wood smoker recipes for use with this grill and it came out very well. 1hr was more than enough smoke.
    Enjoy the grill.

I JUST BOUGHT THE Woodfire and it is coming in 2 days. Thx for the suggestions. I am an experienced air fryer cooker so I don’t expect a large surface. I do look forward to grilling without waiting for the coals to get the right color. I can’t wait to try your recipes. I never use the cookbooks that come with machines.

have had the woodfire grill for about 6 months and use it all the time , so convenient and cooks very fast. food comes out juicy and delicious.. have a smoker and a gas grill but usually use the ninja woodfire grill... hard to do better than the woodfire grill overall.

This vid is a few months old but I noticed that Doug (here on YT) is using Royal Oak charcoal pellets quite a bit and loves them. Just ordered a bag myself. I just picked my NWFG up last night and was having 2nd thoughts until I watched some of your vids and some others here. Thanks much! Off to buy your E-Cookbook.

I started using charcoal pellets last week. No luck at all using Ninja pellets; acrid creosote covered food.
2 out of 3 cooks so far were successes, the failure was too smokey.
These are Macleans brand pellets from HD in Canada. Looking at the pellets there seems to be some raw wood mixed in as they are not completely black.
Good flavor when theres not too much of it.
I may be putting the protein in too early as I never see a guideline on that beyond 'when the white smoke goes away'. Mine seems to be white smoke untill all pellets are burned to ash.

Thanks CJ - very appreciated! After lots of youtube research (your channel and a few others), I bought the Woodfire and like it a lot better than decrepit cheapass gas grill it replaced. Love the smoke, but my results are more like pancooked over a woodfire rather than flame grilled. I do miss the flame kiss a little. I was diehard charcoal griller until the latest small apartment said no way, and this seems a pretty great solution over another dinky gas grill. I've only used it twice, so still very inexperienced but pretty happy with results both times. Thanks for all your work and help with my decision!! Suscribed for recipies - you rock 🤘

CJ thanks for your videos - Big Help, especially the "Tips & Tricks" on the Woodfire. Was looking into getting it, but I do my research before buying also anything - good, bad, & ugly. Wish I could get your "Tips Tricks" in hard copy that I could keep with my grilling stuff, so I could reference it while I get used to this one. I'm not a pro and usually follow the regular instructions. What you said made a lot of sense, and I would like to follow your experience instead.

I returned a Traeger a couple of years ago. I didn't want everything smoked and frankly, I don't like things that will be expensive to repair. I recently, like today, received my Ninja Wood fired grill from Costco, $229.99 delivered. Oh yeah! Tomorrow I will plug it in to my little Honda generator just to see if this multi tool will run on that power source when our power goes out here in the boonies. Thank you for the info!

My wife bought me one for Xmas. I’m enjoying your videos for tips and tricks. I usually smoke my meat on the ninja 80% or 90% of the way and then finish it on the grill to get some grill marks on it.

Thank you for providing your expertise and letting us know the Real information. After spending over $450 on a grill I don’t want to try out and ruin another $400 in meat to find how to Really do it right. Being Retired Military (recently 100% disabled and retired) I’ve never been, nor had the time, to become Good at Grilling. So your expertise is Greatly Appreciated.

I just set my woodfire grill up over the weekend & I've used it a few times now. One thing I have noticed is the food is getting really dark. I thought I would go by the recipes in the book, to get used to using it & then start using my own. But going by their "guide" you smoke a whole chicken at 375...I haven't seen heat that high in any smoking recipe & I was really surprised. But, I did it anyway, & yes, after only 30 minutes, it was a very dark bird. But now I've listened to your video & the first thing you suggested is to toss their recipe book aside & that's exactly what I'm doing. Thanks CJ for all the tips, I will forever listen to you & not Ninja! Lol :)

I just never let the fire go out!
It's simple to just add about 8 or nine pieces at a time to control how much smoke you would like. I stop adding pellets whenever I want to..
I have used charcoal pellets from Lowe's and you need to use less of them. So just add as needed it really tastes great. Royal oak charcoal pellets in lowes. $20 large bag.❤

I just got my XL pro connect over the weekend. You are right that convection fan makes it cook a bit too fast but evenly. My beef ribs hit temp of 160 (before wrap) set at 250 under an hour... Gotta take that fast cooking into consideration when smoking on this thing.

It would just go under the lid. No special place for it. Look into the TempSpike wireless Bluetooth thermometer I linked in the video description. Works great.

About charcoal pellets, I always add them. I ue Smoke Daddy charcoal pellets, but each to their own. In my experience I have learned to moderate the amount of charcoal pellets to about 1/8 of the pellet mix. As a side note, I stop adding pellets about 2/3 way through the cook. Imho you've got the right amount of smoke by then due to the small space as you pointed out. Great content man.

The 3in1 has Grill, Smoke, and AirFry. The 7in1 has the same plus Bake, Roast, Dehydrate, and Broil. So it depends if you think you'll use the other functions. What you have has the core functions.
