    I can remember 70 years ago in N. Florida we set fires almost every year because we knew what would happen if we didn't. The fuel available for wildfires was kept to a minimum. Now, government entities have, for the most part, has taken control of that activity, and you see the result. That practice, by the way, started centuries ago, and had nothing to do with climate. Just an observation.

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The levels of droughts, freak floods, and frequency of wildfires happening worldwide far exceed what was the case 70 years ago. Statistically, they can't and haven't been accounted for by arson either, in case that comes to mind.
      Controlled burns (or not) to prevent larger wildfires also don't account for the substantial increase either.
      Extreme weather events are increasing, and the climate and environment are responding to our interference is the statistical probability. We both know it.
      Mental gymnastics doesn't and won't change that, I'm afraid.

      Did you see th videos of power line poles from Aug 8th? Reminded me of PG and E in CA. I still think you cannot rule out arson.
      The idea of blocking out sunlight! We have had that already, it was a huge volcano around 1816? A terrible idea.

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pantameowmeow.s.1149 definitely not ruling out arson attacks, as per Hawaii at this stage - but statistically, again arson does not account for the increases in frequency of worldwide wildfires.
      And it's not blocking out sunlight that is the MEER proposal. It's reflecting it back into space, via widespread specialist mirror deployment across land areas.

    • @normanwoodham3860
      @normanwoodham3860 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just said that we reduced fuel, plain and simple, without regard to any discussion about climate whatsoever. There's no mental gymnastic in that.

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mcm7518 with respect, kindly take a look at worldwide statistics, and come back to me.
      Climate deniers have historically tried to cherry pick and disregard widespread data they find inconvenient, as you are likely aware.
      I don't claim that reduction in controlled brush burns might not have an impact, including in the US, as Heller highlights. There are combinationa of factors in most things. But to put that as the sole factor is stretching credibility past breaking point.
      As the people of Northwest Canada may also argue, and the people of Australia, and the people of Southern Europe... I could go on.

    Why do I get stabbing back pain when I eat grains? Oats especially and usually within the hour...

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you have some kind of leaky gut, and or allergy/sensitivity that could be one possible cause (back and lower torso are obviously close to the intestines here).
      There's obviously alternatives to oats and different starch sources are available. Mary's Mini (see McDougall website and Newsletters) might be the smart way to go here.
      Falling that, medical examination and/or a medically supervised fast. Medical examination might be worthwhile anyway, just to rule out any obvious physical cause.
      Might also want to try organic grains - some people have reactions to glyphosates used on spraying oats and other grains, and have reported relief through going organic.
      Good luck.

    • @thinkinoutloud.1
      @thinkinoutloud.1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe because all grains these days are crossed hybrids which give bigger yeilds. This increases gluten content as well because their are more chromosomes in wheat than a hundred years ago. Then there's added herbacides/pesticides which can change your microbiome and cause leaky gut due to the shikamite pathway being affected by the glyphosate in 'Round up' that is sprayed on all our plants. Oats have a high concentration of glyphosate.

      @scoobydadog246 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@retrospiel Oh my dog.. don't get me started. Yes, you can argue with data, and yes; you should! Well, perhaps not argue, but certainly question. Certainly for anything published after the 70s. One huge issue is that 99% of the public does not go look at the original data - actually read papers, attend conferences (where you have a lot of sharing), contact real experts, etc. etc. That is a big problem b/c ppl often get their 'data/info' from a third hand source. I see this constantly, and for just about any topic. Some loose online site will post an article about a study, and it will have a dramatic headline .. here's a real life example I came across. "Dogs given mushroom supplement for Cancer live longer and have slower tumor growth". I'm paraphrasing of course, but that was the gist. The writer then goes on to say that according to said study, a certain dose (the highest) worked the best. It all sounds very wonderful, and they reference a University study; and a particular brand for the supplement (which is very expensive). I then see this info repeated and circulating through the webosphere by bloggers and into every 'dog' website, and even places related to veterinary services - which gives it credibility. Just basically a copy of the original writer's interpretation - a writer who did not understand the study at all (and probably didn't really read it).
      First thing I do is go to the original paper. I found: 1. this was a pilot study that looked at 12 dogs 2. 4 - only 4, in 3 groups, each given a different dose 3. NO CONTROL group - that is huge, so you have no idea if any did better than if nothing was given! That is a big red flag and if you read pharma funded studies, you need to be careful to look for that. .. which brings up a most imp point - always follow the money. Who funded it. In this case - it was the company that made the mushroom supplement. Go figure. And - if you really looked at the data - you would see that while they reported average life span, they were all over the place. The dog that lived the longest had the lowest dose, there was a dog in the hi dose group that died right away. i.e. what they didn't report was the standard deviation , and the range. - your average might be 10, but you can get that from 11 & 12; or 0 and 20. Anyway, bottom line when you really looked at the study all you could really say was that "maybe this would help" and the lower dose (much less $) could be just as effective". so there was promise, but it needed further study - and a much larger study group. Which is the purpose of pilot studies - to see if something was worth studying, not give answers.
      So - it is magnified with an issue like "climate" - which is driven by political and other agendas. You have the media and politicians and so many confounding factors that you really have to dig deep to get at the truth. Which is always less exciting and dramatic those trying to profit off of it will make it seem.
      "Science" is not a person that cares or not. I don't like to use that word in today's climate b/c it has been so weaponized. Of course you should have an opinion. Just be willing to change it as you learn more information. That is wisdom.
