  • Learn to tie a deadly effective fishing rig for beach fishing! We wanna help you catch more fish. This beach fishing rig (Paternoster Rig, a sort of High Low Rig) is used around the world, and is tied with 2 hooks, doubling the chance to catch a fish. Often times 2 fish are caught at once! Start tying rigs and save yourself some MONEY$. Buying pre tied rigs is convenient, but expensive! What will happen if you run out of rigs on the beach? Will you know how to tie up more and keep fishing?

Senko Skipper hy, i'm from indonesia "a little country in south east asia". I love your channel.
When erin say that catching small fish for bait "if it legal", in my country everything is legal (sadly). (Except fishing with a bomb or poisoning fish with chemical of course)..
You can catch fish as many as you want no matter how small or how big it is. There is no rules from the goverment. Everyone can do almost everything, spear fishing, bow fishing, catch and release, casting jingging popping, using a net, its all legal.
Maybe that's the reason why the fish is getting small and smaller every years. Especially for land based or surf fishing.

Hey Skipper! I've been fishing for a very long time. Thank you for this wonderful service you are providing. I use a surgeon's knot for everything. I always catch fish. But now I see the importance of learning different knots. I practice them all the time. Also, now, after so many years, I know the difference of these hooks. Thanks to you.

Another great video. I use the same rig from the surf and bottom fishing from a boat. I use a single hook when fishing the jetty for tog. If I'm live lining, I'll use a rig similar to a Carolina rig.

Great video y’all! Quick question, what do you use to store the extra rigs in?
I tend to use the Carolina/fish finder rig for most of my beach fishing.
For storing my pretied rigs I use either old pill bottles or one of my Plano boxes. I’ve been kicking around the idea of finding one of them single cd wallet binder to use.
As far as knots go, I use the polymer, unit to uni for joining two lines together, and the snell knot.
There’s a few more I may use on occasion but it’s rare.

  • @Cwnidog
    @Cwnidog 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I've seen a rig very similar to this. The difference is that instead of using a pair of dropper or spider loops. the tag ends of the top and bottom terminal loops are left long and the hooks are attached to that single strand with a crimp. I probably would have used a snell knot instead, but that just goes to show that there's more than one way to get the job done. It was a pompano rig, so it also had the beads and floats in the usual locations.

Thanks for the video, I will never buy Picker Rig again! Now I will make my own. There I am from in Canada on Lake Erie we use Pickerel Rigs. They are basically the same as your rig but a tiny bit different. It has two hooks about 8 inches apart and a sinker at the bottom. But now I will just tie my rigs at home!! Thanks.

We like using bigger Bates like 1/4 mackerel on each hook for strippers and many people use 9/0 hooks and I've used as small as 1/0 hooks for strippers with shrimp or bloodwormes with success. I use the same rig and it's not bad at all very versatile and simple to make.

That's an easy fix to set up 👍. I know it's fine for most people. But there is a better one for casting heavy wieghts.
If you use a main leader of heavy mono, say 50lb you are less likely to break off the wieghts on a hard cast. Just tie a pair of circle 8 knots a few inches apart in tye leader. Two places, or more of you want three hook rigs. Then make snoods with lighter lines, 15 or 20 lb about 6-12" long with a loop knot on the ends, and attach them to the leader between the knots putting the hook through the loop around the line. The hook snoods can be easily changed. If they get cut off, or bad

personally whenever i use any rigs but especially with the dropper rig i like to use circle hooks instead of those 'J' style hooks mostly because wen the fish swallows a 'j' hook its a serious pain in the ass to unhook but with circle hooks always gets them at the corner of the mouth.

Today was my first day fishing the pacific from Japans shores. I set up my rig with all the bells and whistles. I had a swivel at the top and two hooks with r knots and floats. At the bottom was a snap swivel and a sinker. I cast out my line for the first time and not 5 minutes in the tip was bending down and the drag was singing. I rush to my pole and start reeling only to feel nothing on the other end. I reel it in to find my entire rig gone and the leader like looked like it had been shaved in several places. There was little strands of monofilament hanging off. I guess the fish took it against some rocks.

I’m tying the loops on 12 pound mono. They keep breaking when I’m testing them. Not sure if I’m putting too my pressure.
