This is y i don't use light tackle... i know it's more fun but I'd rather land the fish than get spooled or broken off. Usually 4000+ reels and 20 lb minimum (usually braid) line.
Yea, I tried fishing the bay from a pier for the first time and got snagged 2x last night. LOL I usually fish freshwater and wanted to try saltwater. I didn't catch anything but I did have some nice nibbles on my line. I think I saw baby snook deep in the water down below. I used some rubber swim baits and believe it or not something was nibbling at my chicken heart I put on my hook. LOL Was fun even though I didn't catch anything. My first experience and it can only get better. I also learned that it's better to fish during the week, the weekends are way too busy with everyone fishing. Thanks for the video!!
That setup on the piers down here Texas is definitely a trout slayer here too. Artificial or a well hooked dead shrimp with a popping cork is like the ice cream truck song to redfish here maybe you can try that.
Hey John, hey, Bob. hey, Dave. hey Skip. Hey Pete, hey Sam. All youtubers same pier! Every pier or jetty i fish i see guys with helmet cams now. Took awhile to get used to people talking to themselves
Man I luv u guys! I've been watching for a few yrs now n I've never gotten bored not once. This is a great Technique and I can't wait to go out and try it thanks. THUMBS UP !!!!
I loved that method! I'm definitely gonna try it here in Brazil! Awesome videos, I've found your channel this week and I can't stop watching the videos! It's inspiring!
My old 92 Grand Prix with the 3.1... 60 degree V6, never really had a serious issue. Alternator went out once, and the ignition pack. Other issues were not engine related, but electrical stuff and some vacuum hoses, but ran great until like 2012 when I sold it, it had over 200K on the odo.
I had that hard run happen to me recently. Probably a barracuda. No way to slow it down and it was under a dock to boot. The braid almost cut into me when I tried to cup the spool for additional drag. Never saw the fish but will never forget it. Also a shrimp for bait. Nice video.
Hi hey skipper can I ask I'm a one big viewer of your videos and my hobbies to is fishing like you.can I ask where can I purchase this kind of floater or bobber thanks for your answer.Godbless!!! From Canada
Good video!! We fish the Minnesota & Wisconsin waters and are amazed at the variety of fish you land. We'd appreciate one or two sentences per fish so that when we have an opportunity to fish your area we'd be better prepared. Thank you.
This technique is not working over here in San Diego pier.. Noone sell live shrimp and super expensive if they do... Ocean wave is very heavy and strong as well as lack of fish available here.. How much does a live shrimp cost? And how do you set the bobber stopper for proper depth? That's difficult for me.. Great video and your wife did very well.. Certified fisherman.. Thank you
They are called bobber stoopers, its string on a small black plastic tube, put it on first with a small bead second. Slide string off tube and tighten by pulling tag ends. The knot can move up and down line by force. Watch Capt Dave. He's been doing this for 30 years. Called the float rig.
Instead of using a locking bead at the top. Use a sliding stop knot. That way you can adjust the depth of the float to 'any' length with ut being 2 ft or 200ft and still be able to cast
Woot, love those artist rendering 😎 I always want something big to take a WHOLE shrimp, and not get peck off by pin fish or small fish With that being said , how do you get your shrimp to the right depth without the tiny pin fish shredding and taking your whole shrimp , BEFORE the big fish get the chance to get to your bait I like how other anglers come to your aid to land (net) the big ones, I haven’t seen that type of help up here in the north... in the NORTH..
For the issue of fish getting your shrimp, I would honestly try switching to a minnow or mullet to weed through the smaller fish and get a big one. I think it’s interesting what you said about people helping out on the pier. I think people are generally friendlier down in the south but also these guys are all my friends
You can put a whole shrimp on a smaller hook. You can catch a big fish on smaller hook. I know you were asking him but just to let you know. I put a sinker on bottom bobber on the middle on top the hook with the shrimp. 🤷 Works
I have a question I don't like using floating bobbers when I go pier fishing I just rig a Texas rig for a jig had with a swim bait is there a difference why that I can rig without a floating bobber so that my bait floats what oz weight do you recommend for Pier fishing with a medium action spinning combo with a Lt 4000-c spinning combo
Hi I love your videos and thank you for your efforts. I planned to have a trip to US fishing. I am in Vancouver. Could I know where the bridge or pier is so it might be in my trip as a love to go here. Also, I appreciate if you may recommend some places and spots. Thank you
I think its Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier. A huge chunk of it is closed due to hurricane a few years ago. Still a good place. Try Vilano Beach. Thats good too.

Man I wish you guys could do a video on the Oregon coast, I'd love to see what you catch in my neck of the woods.
Thanks homie for your info and videos I'm hooked 🤣
I use this rig on Jetty. It’s good at catching surf perch. But hard to cast for a good distance when the weather is rough.
You just gave me the idea of crossing a high low rig and a float rig
By him giving you the idea you gave me the idea to cross both of those rigs

I fish at Jax Beach too. 2 questions: What made you choose that particular spot on the pier? What depth did you end up making your bait?

Strike...strike...strike 🎣🎣🎣
Do you use a bobber stopper above your float from up towards your fishing rod?
nice technic !thx sir !!!
I really want to try the float fishing.
How do you set the bead stopper once you have determined the correct length.
That extra line you get from Penn reels makes the difference.
Good job
