This reminds me of one of my best friends’ murder in 2012. She had just started a position as director of childhood education at a church in DE. She was working late one evening when the janitor decided to kidnap and kill her. She did not know the janitor. But the janitor did have ties to the church. He was the son of the office manager. She had gotten him a job there but neither had disclosed that he was a registered s*x offender. When the church found out, he was let go. But they gave him two weeks notice to leave. They never let any of the staff know that a registered s*x offender was still working there. The day my friend was kidnapped was the janitor’s last day at the job. He took her over the border to MD to dispose of her body in a swamp. A hiker happened to come across her body within a few hours of her murder. If he hadn’t, her body would have eventually disappeared into the swamp and no one would ever have known what happened to her. The janitor finally confessed in order not to receive the death penalty. One thing, there are ultraconservative mennonites, conservative mennonites, and "liberal" mennonites. "Liberal" mennonites live pretty normal lives, no different than a conservative Christian of any denomination (ie they attend public schools, watch TV and movies, nothing makes them stand out as being Mennonite etc.) The conservative mennonites will often have a TV, but only watch news or certain videos they will interact in their larger community pretty normally. Then there are the ultraconservative, living in very insular communities and very similar to the Amish. Mennonites and Amish are breakaway groups from the Swiss Brethren, so they have very similar theological beliefs.
I live 3 miles from Canada's largest conservative Mennonite community. As was commented the levels of conservatism is complex. Here our malls have hitching posts and small corrals because the community still uses the black buggies and black horses for transport. For lifetimes they have had incredible farms outside the city limits with no power. Strange to drive through at might and everything is pitch black, and suddenly a horse and biggy emerges. Now asthe younger men can't but farmland, there are commercial farms down the road where pigs are raised and harvested. In to2n are more modern Mennonite they use cars but still dress differently, not in the long dresses but a knee length black dress with knit stocking osprcsome with summer knee socks. Men in suspenders and white shirts. Then there are Mennonite assembly churches where the attendees look no different in clothing to anyone else in the community. Sadly our government is removing "greenbelt" protection around cities that allows for rural .if close to small cities etc. So developers will be hot fir that farmland to house condos etc for all the economic refugees. Very sad.
That poor girl. He AND his brothers are trouble. It's a shame we have to wait for his brothers to do something sick like this in order to join him. Mate, you're responsible for your own bitterness and working through it. Her family - her parents - must be devastated. She was well educated by them too. Actually quite tearful for them. And his parents must just be crushed. Mark is a consummate coward. Thanks Dr G - well summed up.
I agree that this killer was thinking about murder for some time and targeted a female member of the Mennonite due to some deep seated resentment towards that religious community. He also likely perceived the Mennonite females to be easy targets. it seemed also that he must have known this would have had a strong impact in the community at large, given the peaceful nature of the Mennonites. Can't help but wonder if this was also something he sought -- something that would shock and gain attention in the media.
Peace to you, sister.I might not agree with your theology, but you did not deserve what that - person - did to you. Thank you for covering this, Dr. Grande. You did it with sensitivity and insight.
Great analysis! I agree...also on Forensic Files they said he viewed his Mennonite upbringing as abusively oppressing ...he hated Mennonites and apparently so did his brother
Terrible case; this must be one of the most pointless murders ever. But I'm really impressed that investigators were able to identify the one single cell phone that happened to be present in the same locations at the same time as Sasha's phone.
He was in an area that would have few to zero people there. Her phone and his in the same area would stand out. It wouldn't work in a busy city, but out in the desert is a different story.
Most us rebel against the religion we were raised with by listening to heavy metal and saying all the naughty words they told us not to. But this guy just had to be extra about it 🙄
all 3 brothers developed strong hate for the church. im guessing the father was abusing them in some way and using the church as some kind of excuse or get out clause. there is also a bit of an urban myth, or common speculation in society about policemen, which is that they often come from homes with abusive/a-hole fathers. and join the police as a way to be powerful and protected.
Law enforcement agencies should be given a standing ovation for catching this guy. It took them two months, but they succeeded in getting Gooch off the street. I believe that it goes without saying that he would have killed again.
The light really did collide with the darkness in this senseless murder. That lovely young lady came face to face with a demon. So glad he was brought to justice . This shows that nobody is safe anywhere.

I never heard anything but good things. I've never heard of anyone being angry with them or their beliefs. Is the way the brother felt about them common? What a horrible shame.
I feel this was one of your most compassionate analysis videos, Dr. Grande. I have been following you for some time now and you have clearly showed your dislike for Kamala Harris, Hunter Biden and the Garden State of New Jersey, but you rarely show the more compassionate side of yourself. In this case, I sensed some compassion for the victim and the crime. This murder was senseless and the victim appeared to be a kind and innocent individual. The perpetrator received the correct sentence for his crime and I took comfort in your commentary.

Love your videos man. I would love to see how you would explain Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. His mental state is left ambiguous but i feel like the way you can explain it would be really amazing. Keep making great content!
Narcissist; thats 100%. (mirror and camera sex scenes, morning routine). Maybe suffering delusions due to internal conflict. Probably high iq and high in macavellianism due to his job title/education. Parasitic lifestyle (only pretends to work). Sensation seeking is seen in the film too (prostitutes, coke). Glib charm: his shallow riffs about musicians and faux concerns for world peace. So as per the title Bateman is a psychopath. But we don't know in the film whether his many crimes are real or delusions. However I am not diagnosing anybody in this case, merely speculating as to what Dr Grande may say.
Women and children assault victims deserve better than what our justice system provides in terms of the punishment levied against their perpetrators. It's truly sickening to see that the convicted are treated far better than they "treated" their victims. Cruel and unusual acts upon women and children should be met with cruel and unusual punishment upon their perpetrators.
I was in the Air Force 24 years, it was fun from age 17-30, should have got out while I was ahead. After basic training in 1983 I got assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Middle of nowhere, that's for sure. My 2nd week we got in a new guy, he was handsome, charming, ended up terrorizing the base and local community. He got promoted early, easy day job, his wife worked at the Base Exchange, she would sell returned VCR's to other airmen for $50. They divorced, he knocked up a local high school girl and then later threw his newborn baby against a wall for crying too much. He was such a psycho he could deny and deny everything to your face while looking straight in your eye. He got an expensive lawyer, fought his case for 2 years and only got a 10 year sentence. Another guy in my dorm was a sex addict, his new wife was scared of him so that's why he wasn't living with her..he ended up forcing himself on her and got thrown in jail. My first roommate got kicked out for smoking pot. 4 airmen died in a drunk driving crash a mile from the gate on DD(well known in the local area). Another guy in my shop arrived at the base already with a dui on record, he'd have me drive his Chevy S-10 because his license was suspended. Then he figured he could put his truck in the back bed of a much bigger truck and on the weekends they'd pile in and drink/drive around the college town, the cops couldn't do anything about it. The college town was 12 miles away, whenever we went up there one airman insisted we drop by the bowling alley so he could throw up all over the bathroom. This went on, 20-30 times over 6 months it even made the local newspapers. He didn't ever get caught but a guy who copied him did. Some guys I knew would go spotlight/shoot deer at the local state park, the deer started gathering around the Game Warden's building, their best chance to survive. Certain times of the year we couldn't sleep in our dorm rooms because it had to be over a certain temp 3 days in a row before they activated the A/C. we'd sleep outside or in the hallways. The commander came by to scold us, stepping over sleeping airmen down the hallway. That was just my first base 83-85. The next 12 assignments over 22 years were even more crazy.
@@blk5124 Yeah it's beyond crazy it's full of underachievers from high school that are up to no good. I kept on going to different bases to see if it would get any better. Staying overseas was the best option, still crazy but more fun and guys were less likely to go completely nuts as they have different prisons. Still, my coworker in Turkey stole his roommates checks, I ended up visiting him in the jail on base as he awaited to be xferred to jail in the U.S. Another co-worker committed suicide by ramming his car into the "Welcome To Panama" sign..his wife was driving him crazy. the picture was on the front page of the Panama newspaper 31 Aug, 1994. That's the thing about joining the military out of high school. You might not die in war but there's a lot other ways to die, usually car or motorcycle accidents. I estimate I have around 250 stories I don't want to put it in a book that nobody will read. I might do a YT channel where I narrate them but it will piss a lot of people off.

The Wing Commander who insisted on flying the first brand new C-17 that arrived on his base! You can probably google that one, it's UNBELIEVABLE!!! Can you imagine telling hundreds of REAL stories of AIr Force shennigans? No holds barred? Basically criminal behavior where some didn't get caught. I don't think it's been done before. There was a guy on YT who revealed tons of insider info as a prison guard of the nations most secure prison. He got death threats from ex cons. He got threats from ex coworkers. He finally took his channel down but his mistake was he showed his face. I can YT my stories I just have to make sure I dot my I's and cross my T's b/c if I make one mistake it will be a disaster. I don't want to make a big production out of it, you know with stock pictures/video clips, music etc. I have one idea I might go through with, for at least my first 5-10 stories -- based on the reaction/comments see if I want to continue further. Honestly I bet somehow the AIr Force would convince YT to shut it down.
The rule is never let a criminal take you from crime scene 1 to crime scene 2, because your odds of survival drop to close to zero at crime scene 2. Sanford Strong wrote a book "Strong on Defense" and he said you should try to run away in a zig zag fashion or cause a car accident to avoid being taken to crime scene 2.
he hated the community so much that he want them to punish them or he was observing her for some time unable to get closer to her, he might have thought she would "purify" him or something like that.
It was either A&E or 48hrs , I’m sure you True Crime fans have seen the episode. Cellphone data , is mostly how people get caught. Law enforcement relative , helped the army dude .
Hi Dr. Grande, long time fan. What's your thoughts on the Fells Acres case concerning the guilt or innocence of Gerald Amirault? It's a case concerning the day care panic of the 1980s. I watched a documentary on HBO Max about it, but came away from it not knowing what to think about Amirault's guilt in actuality; however, I definitely think there was reasonable doubt. The investigation seemed to be based solely on the testimony of young children whom were subjected to interviews that were rife with leading questions and bias. You could also use the case to explore the psychological phenomenons present in the day care panic as a whole during the 80s and 90s.
The quiet resilience of Sachas community is my strongest impression from this sad case. I recommend Dave Lemons(?) channel for the trial. As for the murderer, not everyone is a fitt for a strict and insular way of life like that, thats fore sure, but thats such a gross failur to cope with life I don't know...
I understand the idea of wanting to live a life committed to not being violent, but there is a difference between picking a fight and defending yourself in a life or death situation. I don't God would have frowned upon that young lady fighting back to try and save herself.
Some religious teachings have priceless value, some teachings are pointless, and some are downright destructive. Poor girl. She was taught compliance to the point of death. I agree God does not fault self-defense. Speaking quite candidly, I loathe headcoverings because it seems to attract violent men - they don't necessarily commit murder but they see women who wear headcoverings as people they can control and abuse. It's like putting a target on your back. I know that's not what the women intend but it is an outcome for some. I'd never allow headcoverings in my household.

So I don't understand why his hatred would fuel him to do this. I know people who have left the rules of a structured upbringing and aren't violent or angry at their old church groups so I don't understand this. Just leave in peace. There's no reason that anyone needs to get hurt. May she rest in peace.

What did his brothers do?
@@jeniferjoseph9200 Dr. Grande describes their actions in the video
😢 this case is so sad. she didn’t deserve this
I agree that this killer was thinking about murder for some time and targeted a female member of the Mennonite due to some deep seated resentment towards that religious community.
Very familiar with this case, what a senseless, brutal act. Looking forward to your analysis.
Thanks, Doc!
a terrible story - these people are devils Sasha is with the Father now in his Glorious Heaven.
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 Whatever.
Just a reminder, I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating why mennonites Don't kidnap airmen in reversal of a situation like this.
Good evening Dr Grande, excellent analysis. What a frightening, self serving case. Glad Mark got life without parol.
Have a great evening
Great analysis! I agree...also on Forensic Files they said he viewed his Mennonite upbringing as abusively oppressing ...he hated Mennonites and apparently so did his brother
Terrible case; this must be one of the most pointless murders ever. But I'm really impressed that investigators were able to identify the one single cell phone that happened to be present in the same locations at the same time as Sasha's phone.
He was in an area that would have few to zero people there. Her phone and his in the same area would stand out. It wouldn't work in a busy city, but out in the desert is a different story.
@@sugarspice7768 True, but I believe they found it correlated in multiple locations, not just after he got way out in the desert.
Should this not have been charged as a hate crime??
Law enforcement agencies should be given a standing ovation for catching this guy. It took them two months, but they succeeded in getting Gooch off the street. I believe that it goes without saying that he would have killed again.
She was born in Temple, Texas not too far from where I live. I know some Mennonite people, they're nice people.
I need to get a Dr. grande mental health cactus
She was found 2 miles from my house. It was a scary moment.
He’s committed to non violence, that’s why he joined the military.😅
Thank goodness for cell phone tracking & surveillance cameras. Such a terrible guy, poor Sasha. Great points again. Thanks Dr G😊🤍🤍
Very sad. I find it incredible that this hatred runs through the entire family. RIP dear Sasha. ❤
The light really did collide with the darkness in this senseless murder. That lovely young lady came face to face with a demon. So glad he was brought to justice . This shows that nobody is safe anywhere.
We appreciate how detailed this analysis is. Dr Grande is certainly the best at what he does.

How cruel a death for such a beautiful young woman. Who deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life. Dr Grande I smashed the like button first before I start watching any post.. because I am certain I will like it.
My ancestors were Mennonites. Their morals of truthfulness, pacifism and self responsibility as well as everyone being able to speak their voice and preach still resonate with me. What a piece of shit to attack a so kind hearted woman.
I never heard anything but good things. I've never heard of anyone being angry with them or their beliefs. Is the way the brother felt about them common? What a horrible shame.
evil always hates innocence.
If Mark thought the Mennonite community was harsh and strict, he's going to have a rude awakening on how prison life is.
Thank you Dr. Grande, for describing Sasha as the light.
Hard to get your head around why some people are so evil and you just have to ask why???? To snuff the life out of a innocent peaceful woman like Sasha 😢😢😢
What a monster. Even his brother sounds subhuman.
He should have been charged with a hate crime. But justice was served and he will never see outside again.
Thanks you for the analysis, Dr. Grande.
Another example of how much more needs to be done in mental health to figure out and cure or at least help people control their homicidal behavior. Sasha was innocent, thank you Dr. Grande for showing us her goodness!
❤ I knew Colorado would coming up soon..it's been awhile..Bless her soul..
How anyone can believe he didn’t do it amazes me. Even if this was my child, with that much evidence, I’d have to know he did it.
She WAS the light and he was the darkness. Perfectly worded. Evil DOES exist.
Poor Sasha😢
So very sad.
Thank you, Dr.Grande!
Long time listener first time caller. Love the show!
Insightful analysis as always! If i may bring to your attention on the recent 2nd time escapee fugitive from a Warren County jail in PA. Previous military and a “survivalist.” I am from PA, and would appreciate your analysis of his case
Farmington? That’s home for us. The Mennonites I see are disapproving and they will not smile back. Poor Sasha, there’s a lot of harshness here. She had a tough little life. Kind treatment, Dr. Grande, she deserves that, thank you
Poor Sasha. A creepy conflicted guy abducts her then kills her! For what?
Poor sacha 😢 she was minding her own bussiness hurting absoutely no one 😢 this man is so mean and heartless
This is a sick, cruel world😢
Poor Sasha. Good police work netting 3 sub humans
I took lessons via their mail program and I remember seeing a page about her on the website, it was so sad and disturbing to me, and memorable for that reason I guess, that I immediately recognized the case from the thumbnail. So, so very sad.
However I am not diagnosing anybody in this case, merely speculating as to what Dr Grande may say.
that would be more an explanation of Reaganomics and the excess of the 80s. Bateman was a classic narcissist
GPS and cellular network data are a blessing when it comes to criminal prosecution.
Always interesting
Thank you
Peace 💕🇺🇲
Poor girl. Atheism and religious hatred go hand an hand
Wow! In the past I thought I should've joined the military. I maybe glad I didn't! 😉😆 You could probably write a book. 😊
@@SladeBling good luck with whatever you decide. People are always interested in stories. There's always an audience somewhere but I can understand there'd be a handful of folks who wouldn't be happy - change their names and tell the stories anyway. 😉👍
@@blk5124 Thanks for the encouraging words. I want to do the stories justice as their a huge part of my life.
I didn't think Dr. Grande ideas on this would get as deep as it ended up getting
Horay...my routine is saved!
Yeah, well she was a pacifist first and foremost.
Calm and insightful analysis !!!👍
Good job dr Grande 🙏
he hated the community so much that he want them to punish them or he was observing her for some time unable to get closer to her, he might have thought she would "purify" him or something like that.
It was either A&E or 48hrs , I’m sure you True Crime fans have seen the episode. Cellphone data , is mostly how people get caught. Law enforcement relative , helped the army dude .
Can you analyze the case of Matthew Mannix? Thank you for this video; very interesting!
I prefer the brick background to the black drapery look.
Just so sad...😢
Always really appreciate your videos and opinions.
All i say is god will have a place for him so tragic case
Thanks for covering the story.
I thought about joining the Mennonites a long time ago. I didn't know anything about their theology other than that they were pacifists.
Such a wonderful person. Such a crime. Why? In the name of good why. 😢. Evil lives among us. Someone did this. I say he did it. Location location location. 🤷🏼.
It really is incredible that a person could harbor that much hatred toward a harmless person; such a sad commentary.
How could Gooch be committed to non-violence and be in the Air Force?? That's contradictory.
I don't think anyone said he was committed to non-violence, did they?
@@eadweard. I heard Grande say that Gooch has supporters who believe that he was committed to non violence so is not guilty.
@@charlesiragui2473 Oh I see yes thanks for explaining.
@@charlesiragui2473There are plenty of people who will say anything, no matter how illogical, to try to "prove" their own or in this case, someone else's, innocence. They don't care about truth. Fortunately, the supporters claims were disproven by actual evidence.

Why can't we perceive threat in these killers eyes and avoid them?
Hello Dr. Your awesomeness brightens my day❤

This is really so sad. In highschool some people from the Mennonite church would come to my highschools youth for peace group. I grew up pentecostal so we have tech but still very strict, it was nice to meet a similar culture, faith group, but the people were very kind. From the outside looking in you might assume some of these religions don't like outsiders, but they were very kind, welcoming and didn't make any harsh assumptions, at least not out loud. So I don't understand why his hatred would fuel him to do this. I know people who have left the rules of a structured upbringing and aren't violent or angry at their old church groups so I don't understand this. Just leave in peace. There's no reason that anyone needs to get hurt. May she rest in peace.
What a nice trio of brothers
this story is upsetting. To take sum1s life like that. Mark is very cold and cruel . May Sasha rip
Defending a member of a military by declaring their pacifism is a bit weird idea...
