Hello Dr. Grande, thank you for your informative analysis on this case. It truly is sad for his kids and family. As always a chuckle now and then is much appreciated 😊
Divorce ... the American "f*ck you" answer to every marital problem. Or they could resolve their issues like adults without destroying their own family
Because they don't want to be humiliated and financially destroyed. In this case, it seems that Ryan wanted to start a new life, with a fresh beginning. You don't get that after a divorce. You still have bills, unwanted attachments and entanglements, and continuing responsibilities. Society never lets either partner just leave and go free. You can either try to get that freedom by killing your family or by faking your death and forging a new identity, but not with a divorce.
@@jaytee2642 Why the shaming language? Lots of fathers, and even more mothers, file for divorce, which automatically breaks up the family and hurts the children. This guy running away also broke up the family and hurt the children. I personally don't approve of either choice. I'm just responding to a question of why the guy ran away instead of filing for divorce. I also think that divorce laws in the US need to be massively overhauled, but that's another topic.
I feel for his wife and kids that has gone through a roller coaster of emotions. It must also already be humiliating but even more so that this is news.
I believe that the sheriff is probably trying to get Ryan to come back in order to file charges in addition to encouraging reconciliation. The sheriff is also aware of more about this case than we are.
"The closest he will get to fishing is reeling in a boat load of regret." He is a man in need of redemption and it will begin with a hard look at himself.
Does this man know he's an adult, it's not like he had to escape the law. He could have just said yo I'm outtie and left to the other country without the elaborate fake death...
Your commentary at the end is so true, and well said. But it could be dangerous for him to come back, because next time he might act out violently. Am I the only one who thinks he was catfished?
As a wife and mother, I couldn't imagine a reconciliation with my husband after he did such a thing. I would forgive him, but the relationship would not be restored. He'd have to work together restore trust with our children.
@Ariadne76-k3d of course forgiving would not be easy, but I believe I would be able to in time. Forgivibg doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. I know that people do incredibly destructive things in their selfishness. I know ppl in their distortions and delusions believe they're doing what is best. He thought that leaving them $325,000 would be better. It seems he is depressed or ashamed, I don't know. If this were me, I would not force my children to trust their father, I said that he would have to work to reconcile with them. My children would be aware of my decisions. I personally have the experience of forgiving a parent after abandonment. But I have faith in a loving and merciful God who strengthens me to do beyond what I believe I can. He has been so good, and he would carry me through a betrayal like this if I were to experience it.
In Britain, we have a true life story that was made into a film. John Darwin had a hobby: canoeing. He went on the water one day and disappeared. His wife declared him dead and she got his life insurance. He reappeared 5 years later and pretended he had amnesia. Plot twist: he was living next door to his wife who knew all about it. They have two sons and I worked with one of their wives when John Darwin was still missing. His sons knew nothing about it and they hated their parents for a long time. Mrs Darwin was imprisoned as well but her sons do talk to her now.
There was also the case of John Stonehouse, an English MP and former cabinet minister, who faked his death by drowning off the coast of Florida in 1974, and was found in Australia later the same year.
I think the image Dr. G presents at the end-a journey into and back out of a dark forest-is very helpful. As he said, we all make major mistakes in life, and part of recovering from the consequences of bad decisions (either your own decisions or those of people who have hurt you) is to enter a process of seeking redemption. I don’t always agree with Dr. G, but the more I watch his videos, the more I think he is a good source of wisdom for life’s problems.
Put everything aside, not for a minute ..he considered the children? No body has a right to encourage his wife to take him back. No matter how you cut it, he went through all of this to get away from his family. I would be very very bitter if my father did this and because he was found out.. that my mom would take him back. Let the kids heal.
I'm sure for awhile his wife will stress and feel awful, but once she realizes he wanted to be GONE BOY, she will respectfully hate him and divorce him and not let him ever see his kids again, not harsh because he didn't want them anyways.
I not sure about that, he could be thinking of his family and trying to reduce their pain. Might not be easy to recover money from a loser like Ryan, may not be economically or legally viable.
First place I saw any update form him after leaving. Interesting. I saw speculation that maybe his organs were harvested or maybe he was kidnapped. He doesn’t look too happy.
Look up the video of this creep by Baylee Boomhower. She has a camera and was giving free advice on the beach. He is on his ebike. He asks her if he should go to Uzbekistan! You must check it out his weird conversation.
Very insightful analysis. You can run away from yourself but you can't really hide. If I were his wife I wouldn't want him home unless he agrees to intensive psychological counseling. I couldn't put my kids through a roller coaster ride of emotions with him. This man is a coward who has no problem solving skills. This move wasn't the best thing for his family. It was the best thing for him in his mind. I guess he never really bonded with his children. I get not being in love with his wife anymore but what he did to his kids was shameful. Maybe the cops are afraid he might commit suicide in this foreign country so they want him home. He should face some kind of charges for this too. Thank God he didn't kill his family.
Hopefully he will be brought to justice for the fraud that he committed, at the great expense of his family, public resources, and the insurance company. I suppose that he left his wife deep in debt, as people as narcissistic and as erratic as he are typically deep in debt. She should find a more honorable man.
In a case like this it almost feels like it would be worse to tell the kids their dad really is alive. He just didn't love his family and abandoned them to think he's dead... 😫
I always think it's more than just funny and interesting that people who let/get their lives so messed up that they want to re-start also think the same person who messed their lives up in the first place is gonna be able to pull off a scheme this .. talk about the dunning/ kruger effect!
They're called runners, and they don't all leave the country or fake an untimely departure. I know plenty of people who have screwed up, disappear for a while and come back around in a year or 3, 4, 5 (after having done the lather, rinse, repeat) and want to "reconcile". They never want to be confronted by the past or the reality they create/d and seek a free pass to forgiveness & the future like the prodigal son. Far too many people live like this.
It’s harder on kids when their father is alive and simply wants nothing to do with them, rather them a father that loved them and passed away. Kids are forgotten , dismissed, overlooked when they’re “father” is alive and doesn’t want to see them, but the kids whose father dies.. everyone is soooo sorry, showers them with love.. They’ve lost their dad, *but* they go to sleep knowing they were loved and are loved and cared for.
I really liked this video because you analyzed and considered the whole situation and gave your impressions of different perspectives. I especially appreciated that it wasn't making moral judgements about so and so being a self-centered, inconsiderate, demanding person with a sense of entitlement.
His wife and children means nothing to him to be able to do such faking death to get away from them and be with the woman he just met online. If I were the wife, why would I still plead to him to comeback for Christmas?
@@cadillacdeville5828 I don't believe that. He had to care a lil to try to leave them the life insurance money. Also, he didn't destroy them, like others have, just to start over. I totally agree with what you said at the end about redemption. There is redemption for everybody sometimes we get to work on it while we're still here and sometimes it's after we cross over. Really. People die. Don't make it all about YOU. I certainly miss my parents but I haven't made it my soap opera. Get over it.

Hello Dr. Grande, thank you for your informative analysis on this case. It truly is sad for his kids and family. As always a chuckle now and then is much appreciated 😊
I'm sure the his wife is brainstorming all the red flags about his behavior she missed in the past.
Heartbreaking for her if she still loves him.
The problem with that is..she never stopped loving him.. now the hard part begins..you have to learn to hate him🫣
@@bluesky6681 There's a thin line between love and hate.
I will never understand why people don’t just ask for a divorce
Right?
Divorce ... the American "f*ck you" answer to every marital problem.
@@victoriajohnson4420
Exactly!!
This man-child wanted freedom and a clean slate.
Divorce with kids involved, does NOT give you that.
Yeah, I'm sure she knew very well that he was NEVER worth all this spotlight.
Never a stellar spectacle
In this day and age its pretty much impossible to fake your death and start a new life.
I believe that the sheriff is probably trying to get Ryan to come back in order to file charges in addition to encouraging reconciliation. The sheriff is also aware of more about this case than we are.
Unless the dumb dad is a victim of a scam and a self-kidnapping
Love ❤ Dr G’s final thoughts……”the story of every person’s life, without exception, is one of redemption….” Amen !
You’re so kind, Dr. Grande, for saying we all are on a path to redemption. I’m sure, like me, most of us believe we are completely on or own.
"Redemption" is earned AFTER the offense is followed by sincere "restitution" from the offender.
"The closest he will get to fishing is reeling in a boat load of regret." He is a man in need of redemption and it will begin with a hard look at himself.
Excellent closing thoughts
Poor kids, they will always have to live with the fact that their Dad faked his own death to leave his family 😢
I wouldn't forgive him. How is this forgivable? And the children should not be taught to trust and untrustworthy person.
Imagine this being your dad 😂 the group chat would be wild
I was hoping you'd cover this. Green Lake is about a half hour away from where I live so I've been following this closely.
Same. I’m in Oshkosh
Holy crap, really?! What year was this? Anything videos on this case?
There was also the case of John Stonehouse, an English MP and former cabinet minister, who faked his death by drowning off the coast of Florida in 1974, and was found in Australia later the same year.

If my husband went to these measures to get away from me and our children I wouldn’t want him back.
He is a selfish, self-centered coward. Period.
Yes!
The problem with running away from yourself is that when you get somewhere else, there you are again.
imagine his walk of shame back into the house lol
😂
Put everything aside, not for a minute ..he considered the children? No body has a right to encourage his wife to take him back. No matter how you cut it, he went through all of this to get away from his family. I would be very very bitter if my father did this and because he was found out.. that my mom would take him back. Let the kids heal.
I'm sure for awhile his wife will stress and feel awful, but once she realizes he wanted to be GONE BOY, she will respectfully hate him and divorce him and not let him ever see his kids again, not harsh because he didn't want them anyways.
"Hey dad remembered you pretended to drown in a lake good times" 😂
Please do a video on the ‘Death Island’ murders of Koh Tao, Thailand!!
Dang, youre fast to cover very recent cases. Youre awesome
I think the sheriff is BS him just to get him to return with minimal effort.
I not sure about that, he could be thinking of his family and trying to reduce their pain. Might not be easy to recover money from a loser like Ryan, may not be economically or legally viable.
@ cops are interested in laws, not families. They want accountability, not reconciliation.
Liked the "DARK FOREST" analogy; so true.
It’s not him
@@meliss9536 Nancy Grace played the clip. I think it is him. Same voice, bike, asks her if he should go. Says he may not tell his family.
Let him stay there. !!
Yes, that will be as bad as jail. Maybe the police will get to him.
I agree about the sheriff. I just hope he is speaking in the families best interest.
I always think it's more than just funny and interesting that people who let/get their lives so messed up that they want to re-start also think the same person who messed their lives up in the first place is gonna be able to pull off a scheme this .. talk about the dunning/ kruger effect!
Why are people so weird. They do peculiar things.
It’s called losers!
Well said, all anyone can do is take responsibility.
THE LENGTH these people go to only to avoid getting divorced...
I really liked the descriptive words at the end of the video. Some of those thoughts really spoke to me
Ryan is a disgraceful example of a father and husband and a son. It's all about Ryan what a selfish man
Yes!
Stay there, Ryan. I’m sure the community whose opinions you were so worried about is fully embracing your ex and your kids. America doesn’t need that.
Absolutely 100%... He did not care whatsoever about the ramifications or heartache he caused his children let alone his wife..
@@cadillacdeville5828
I don't believe that.
He had to care a lil to try to leave them the life insurance money.
Also, he didn't destroy them, like others have, just to start over.
Thinking your family will never survive without you is the most narcissistic excuse to off your family I've ever heard!
At least he didn't go down that road!

So environmentally friendly he caused a major search to happen that involves intense usage of fossil fuels etc. Wasn't a big picture thinker obviously.
I totally agree with what you said at the end about redemption. There is redemption for everybody sometimes we get to work on it while we're still here and sometimes it's after we cross over. Deepak Chopra said you can pay your debt as far as karma you can transcend it or you can transmute it. I believe that's all part of redemption I practice HoOponopono. Doesn't matter if I was the one that was wrong or not but it has restored lost relationships in my life beautifully. There is redemption. You just got to get rid of ego and put it aside
