Ya, the Civil Defense really come a long way. I remember during the 60~70s Kampong days, the CD was formed by villager volunteers on duty, with backets of sands and water and fire bells .....I don't remember there are water hoses. Now we have the motorbikes, ambulance, the fire engine at different parts of Singapore. Still we all must do our part to prevent unnecessary fire break out !

Singaporeans never like to think about what worse can happen to them, but think the worse about others, especially those different than themselves ... Yet do they self-reflect about how the highest these ladders can go (90m?) but still build taller and taller until the people high up can't be reached (puns intended)...

It says 500kg weight limit. At 90m reach, that’s some serious steel. I won’t be surprised it cost a few million dollars. Of coz wind loads are considered in the design and have some safety factor to spare. Scania truck frames are the strongest in the truck industry. Scadanavian steel is naturally superior

There needs to be firefighting facilities @ newer high rise HDB buildings that can reach up to over 30 or even 50 storeys high. Lacking firefighting facilities or even booster pumps to boost & increase water flow capacity for putting out fire at such tall buildings only puts safety @ risk.
