Best one yet, I think I speak for many when I say we would like to return to this station down the road to see how they're doing.
They already done a Station Saturday on station 45, I doubt they would do another for a while
@@unknown.unknowingly I see you can't read
Likewise lad "I doubt they would do another for a while"
Calm down ladies.
@@Code3NEPA lad this was 2 weeks ago, we're calm 🤣
Not sure if it's been done yet, but "A Day in the Life" of a Hazmat or Heavy Rescue driver would be epic. Thank you SMFR for always helping the community & educating people about the Fire Service.
Thanks for watching and sharing your suggestion!
20 YEARS , THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. What a fantastic driver/operator and what a good working crew.
20 YEARS , THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
It never occured to me that Fire Rescue personnel would need rappel/climbing training but that makes so much sense! The number of hats worn by fire rescue heros is so amazing. Keep up the hard work.
theres alotta excessive bravoda here .
@@culbyj3665who’s gonna help the person that’s hanging out of a window during a fire ?
Great video boys look forward to seeing you all again , take care and stay safe everyone.
Another great video! Being a chauffeur for a department here in central PA, we run a fairly dangerous stretch of interstate, and it’s unbelievable how people react when the heat and see the fire apparatus behind them. It’s like the motorists brains turn to mush.
It is always interesting watching your videos, there is so much that this job entails and every one of these require lots of training and practice to maintain efficiency. This has quickly become one of my favorite channels to watch as I always learn something new each episode. Thanks for sharing. That breakfast looked amazing as well.
The fire hydrant table is awesome.
8:00 that table is so cool. Using hydrants and a hose for the support. lol
this was awesome I really do like the Day in the Life series
Best Audio I’ve heard out of all the videos you guys post love the ride alongs!
Thanks for your feedback!
Awesome as usual. But for real can we talk about that sunglass save at 19:20

Thank you south metro fire rescue for doing a video like this with a day in the life these were the videos that I was talking about that the next video after this one should be a ambulance engineer i just wanted to suggest this for the next video but great job starting new a day in the life videos just keep going with the new a day in the life videos
This was a good video of an tower engineer keep up the awesome work 💪🏾😎
LOVE THIS VIDEO! the tower is so fun to watch and learn about!

What a fantastic driver/operator and what a good working crew
That Balch Springs fire was wild! I work Private ems in that city and man it was an experience!
It looked intense! SMFR and I'm sure many other FD's have been using that scenario for training.
Yall should do a day in the life of a rescue/dive firefighter, I know my job is pretty cool and I'm sure smfr is just as awesome
I think you could also call this a day in the life of Aaron Crossett as well haha. Another great video!
Love the pierce apparatus!!

Your videos inspired me to go down the firefighter/emt. path that I’m pursuing, you guys are awesome and love what you guys do
That's awesome!! Thanks for watching!
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO do you guys do ride alongs for citizens ?
Thank you for the video and explaining things as you did. It was very informative and interesting.
Having no paid fire stations in our entire county, means we don't see paid fire stations daily life. It is great to see.
Thanks again. Take care and may God Bless you and yours.
Thanks for watching, we're happy you enjoyed it!
DUDE!! How do you even do this?!?! It´s just incredible!! Your hacks and trick ACTUALLY work!!

@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO is there any website or anything where you can buy a house shirt from Tower 45?
We run the same Truck in our department, though we are volunteers. So we do a Monthly truck check but I love it, making sure the rig is in tip top shape.
Such a good group of firefighters would love to see a return of these
This was awesome. Bluetooth communication has to be a huge help
Love how they watch videos of fires in their spare time, I like to imagine they do this all the time haha!
G’day from Australia!

Great video
I got to admit these teach me how to use certain parts of a engine one of my local department use the exact Pearce velocity pumpers and a Pearce tower ladder with hidden steps that come out with u open the door
Would love to see day in the life of Community Risk Reduction as it is an emerging field of the fire service that gives civilians an opportunity to become a part of an amazing fire family!
Thanks for your suggestion!
it would be so cool if they did a day in the life of each station
man that beat at 13 minutes goes hard.
Love the Black over Red paint scheme. I'm in Aurora... you guys are in my neck of the woods.
Thank you!
Awesome!
It’s nice to see a insight of the fleet that fixes Fire trucks I personally work for one and they don’t get enough recognition
Without Fleet, we walk! If you haven't already had an opportunity to see it, check out this in depth video about them! th-cam.com/video/IadGyxbmUnE/w-d-xo.html
I like this page and these fire stations. I Hope I Will be able tó Go there. One firefighter from Hungary
Hey Hero’s next door is in Colorado and said they would visit one of your stations all they need is a invite, a lot of requests for them to come
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll see if there's a collaboration opportunity in the future!
Hey Erik and the rest of the PIO squad, You should see about doing a collaboration with Mike Borrello and "Heroes Next Door." He was in Colorado recently checking out some of Denver Fire and Adams County Fire stations and rigs. I think it would be neat to show him, his crew, and his viewers, what SMFR viewers get to see regularly and how vast in roles, specialties, and personalities, SMFR is.
Thanks for your suggestion, we've been talking with Mike and there might be a collaboration in the future!

They don't have a Tiller atm, they have one on order but at the very least it won't be here until the end of next year.
Thank you Kim Connor erica and Lauren from your friend in Springfield Missouri kyle can’t wait for the day in a life
after the rope rescue practice “are you ok?” My first thought was totally “ better give him a sternum rub to be sure” 😂
Is it possible to see a fleet Friday on your Advanced Medic Resource?
Yall should do a "Day in the Life" for Connor's job title and 1 for dispatch supervisor
Love this! Whats the introduction music? Just wondering..
"Rough and Tumble" by Will Harrison
thanks Eric for the live ♥️❤️❤️🤟🏻❤️🤟🏻❤️🤟🏻❤️🤟🏻
10 year Quint Engineer. A little jealous of the dedicated tower life but OK with being the jack of all trades crew!
If only fire trucks were more conspicuous. You know, bright red paint, lots of flashing lights. Oh and a really loud horn and sirens. They’re just so hard to see, especially at night😉
I like the way they use live dummies for their aerial rescues.😁
We need a day in the life of someone in the Fire Prevention Department!!
What does he request at 24:16? I can't get it neither the answer from dispatch. Thanks! Keep it up with the ride along comms! :D
The Lt. asked Dispatch for the next available ER. Metro Denver hospitals have a web based system that lets Dispatch know when they're on divert, close to capacity etc. When several hospitals have that occurring at once the system goes to "load leveling" where non-emergent transports are evenly distributed to hospitals across the geographic area, rather than always transporting to the closest facility. The goal is evenly distribute patients as much as possible so more serious or critical ones can be taken to the closest hospitals without overwhelming them too much.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Oh wow, sounds like a great coordination tool. It would’ve taken at least 4 attempts to get that precise information over here… 😅
When are more day in the life videos coming back?
Can you guys do a day in the life for hazmat team or tech rescue teams
SMFR's Hazmat and Tech Rescue units are cross-staffed by the Engine or Tower at those stations because those type of incidents don't happen very often. Because of that, it's challenging to show those specialty calls while riding along.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO ok
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO are you guys able to see if you can do a training or stage call
When is the vlog’s and fleet Friday coming back?
When I am 18 I am going to join SMFR
Good luck keep Tyler
That Bluetooth mask is insane. That’s the worst in a fire you can barley hear you can’t see it’s crazy, this makes life so much easier
I learned to always unlock the passenger door - that way if you break something, the car is still drivable.
P.S. (Happy Veterans day!!) Whats the intro song?
What type of radios do y’all use thinking abt getting one since I’m a volunteer fire fighter
South Metro currently uses the Motorola APX series radio. We operate them on a statewide digital trunked radio system on the 700/800MHz bands.
If you guys are buying a tiller truck, what cab are you guys thinking? One for seating capacity or extra tool storage?
The tiller will likely have a Pierce Velocity cab with seating for 5. Once SMFR receives drawings from Pierce Engineering we'll share them in a vlog.
should always go in through the passenger side when doing a lockout so if the does get messed up they can still use the car
Be safe
I want see day in the life Lieutenant on engine 41 my favorite rig also this why I pick engine 41 carry thousands gallon water
Why do the dispatch a tower rig for vehicle wrecks??
Great video but how come, Collapse 45 isn’t based out of this station? Will it move when the Tiller arrives at the other station?
9:00 It is having work done to it, it is normally at Station 45
Cool thx
Thank you! Usually Collapse 45 is at Station 45 but on this day it was being worked on at Fleet. There's a Ford F-250 in the Collapse Rescue bay with some equipment for immediate response and if the Collapse rig is needed, someone will go to Fleet and respond with it.
Nice crew!
Wow cool awesome life saving mask you guys are angels thanks😇💙🙏🚒🧡🔥
24:57 Ohhh he said the Q word....haha!
whst is the difference between a Tower( or truck same difference... different fd's just have different names for the same thing )vs a quint? one difference i see is a truck/tower has 2 axles in the rear vs a quint i noticed has just 1
South Metro defines a "Tower" as an aerial with a platform and a "Ladder" as an aerial without a platform. Technically both are classified as quints since they have a water tank, pump, hose, ground ladders and an aerial ladder.
Are South Metro’s tower units BLS only? Just curious
They have a LP15 in the cab so I would assume they are ALS
@@brandonberger9082 Seems like a lot of them are ff/medic
SMFR's Towers don't have any dedicated ALS staffing, but some personnel assigned to the apparatus could be Paramedics and perform the ALS functions.
Honestly if i could reroll life, US firefighter would be a great character option.
Being a driver isn’t t for everyone. Personally I hated it. But for the guys that love it, they are truly the best at it. The rig is their baby and they know everything it can do.
@@ftlnatp4924 if the weather is that harsh, why doesn't FDNY spec their engines with pump controls inside the cab (some northern FDs use them)?
@@ftlnatp4924 sorry, it's the strange psychological effect that people are more likely to remember the last part of information they received. I saw FDNY, and my brain automatically excluded the "not" thing.
Also I recalled my experience of being near 911 monument (the pools) in winter, it was miserable (cold + wind + high humidity), I genuinely felt for the police officers, that were patrolling there (they were wearing lots of warm clothes and still looked to be extremely cold), I believe a fire pump operator has a similar experience in winter.
As for ability of FDNY to use enclosed pumper panel, I believe, it is possible if they would slightly step off traditions. Besides engineer comfort enclosed controls allow one more benefit - space for additional storage on the sides of the engine (no need for control panel on a pump house, so additional compartments can be added above the inlets/discharges). Basically put inlets/discharges behind rollup shutters and put removable shells above them. And here comes stepping off traditions: instead of using extremely deep hosebeds they could use German style hose carry racks th-cam.com/video/SnuIaJajTjc/w-d-xo.html they seem to be great for highrise firefighting. As for the cab layout, they could use something like this th-cam.com/video/uf5dg-HrAls/w-d-xo.html 2 man in front and 5 at the back.
Of course there is also Rosenbauer RTX with space for 8, compact and extremely manurable, and with ability to control pump form the tablet, but 1.2 million is a steep price. Or maybe something based on Freightliner (Mercedes) Iconic, with the ability to have 4 people in the front row.
Yes the guy from Tower 45s fleet Friday
Still waiting for the day in a life for the heavy rescue crew 😂
Ya they said that those vids are hard because they are special ops and don’t happen often
Can we have more day in a life?
What happens if you get a call while the ladder is fully extended?
The crew will bed the ladder and pick up as quickly as possible. Usually the unit is placed on a 3-minute delay in the dispatch computer which may result in a neighboring Engine or Ladder being dispatched instead.
24:57 HE SAID THE Q WORD!
I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THE SAME THING
How can we get one of those cool tower 45 shirts???
Station shirts are only available to employees right now but we're working on community versions.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO that would be awesome. Thank y’all for your service and love the videos
The way I’m use to it it Alpha is the officer Bravo is behind him, Delta is driver Charlie is behind him
Very interesting! Most of the fire departments in the Denver, Colorado area use Alpha as the officer and Bravo as the driver.
And he dropped the Q word
How would that work when you’re at a fire and have multiple ppl tlking ?? Do you hear them all breathing at once?
Great question! The mics inside the mask only transmit to other masks when the individual presses the push to talk button on the radio. It's not like the intercom system in the trucks which are live all the time for everyone.
Does Joey Always work on tower 45
No, not always.
How?! He said the forbidden word! How’d they sleep all night?!
Like he said, sometimes it be like that, and sometimes it's not.
so, Tower/Ladder/Aerial are the same things?
At South Metro we use Tower to define a platform aerial and Ladder to define a straight stick aerial.
The aerial is the device itself, while the tower refers to a ladder truck with a bucket platform at the end. A ladder is simply a long ladder with no platform. They are all trucks by definition, as opposed to pumpers/engines, which may carry ground ladders but have no aerial device.
What kind of gloves is he wearing ?
Can he still talk three the portibale even tho the bluetooth is connected to the mask
Does Joey work every B shift
