Balls. Newly washed jeans sucks. As long as they don't get dirty/sweaty/stinky over the course of a few weeks there is nothing wrong in wearing a pair for that amount of time.

I love seagate drives. I still have raptor drives from 4-5 years ago. My friends said they wouldn't last because they spin so fast. I also love WD Blue/Black and seagate barracuda drives.

the moment he said something about the NAS rack and said some terms, I blanked out, I like to think I know my fair share about tech, but man do I have a lot to learn.
downside is its seagate, its just another drive waiting to fail ;)
Please stop putting too much weight behind the test done by BackBlaze. They scavenge for drives from things like USB enclosures and then toss them in a datacenter enviroment. It has absolutely nothing to do with the quality or reliability of a drive purchased from Hitachi, Seagate, or Western Digital as used in it's intended use environment.
Patrik Manni i was refering to my own experience, i have had 4 seagates 3 got the click of deth (they were inside a pc no shock or anything) and 1 died with no warning thanks to shit firmware the only drives i trust now are hgst, hitatchi, wd and fujitsu
HGST is Western Digital, Hitachi is partially Western Digital and partially Toshiba, Western Digital is also Western Digital, and Fuijitsu HardDrives is Toshiba. Samsung/Maxtor/LaCie are all Seagate.
Toshiba, WD, and Seagate are the only platter manufacturers still around. And all of them have produced lines of drives with bad failure rates, both recently and historically. While all having about the same overall failure rates.
What you need to do is pay more attention to the specific product you're buying, and things like platter count, or drive line branding. Which can be difficult, because stuff like 'Deskstar' and 'Barracuda', or WD's list of colors don't really mean that much, while Toshiba suffers from a serious lack of naming their drives anything at all.
ictdude1 FYI, HGST is Hitachi. Also HGST(Hitachi) and WD are all the same company now. HGST(Hitachi) are owned by WD.
I only get HGST drives myself too. And WD if I need to.
PimpTwzt i know that hgst is hitatchi and wd together ;) just saying i would buy their drives they are good ;) and i also love my wd blue and black drives
Not nearly as excited about the thunderbolt stack assignment, for a similar price (and market segment) you can get into something like a synlology their larger rack mount products (RS3614) for example can get up to a similar drive count with their external drive shelves but support a wide variety of drives, cache to SSD and other options. Has direct 10GBe support, external SAS support and has their rich protocol support over Ethernet (NFS,CIFS,ISCSI) I would almost certainly go that direction for the small size storage deployment (Leaning more traditional EMC or Netapp in certain cases)

Those data server racks look sexy. Full and with all those lights.. Definitely want to set up one of those should I ever get a house built. Going to pull all the lines to one spot and set up a rack with a big storage array and a home server.

It probably is a booth that not many Tubers will go to so I'm glad that you did. I', interested in those cloud drives as i would like a way to back-up the house in some way shape or form as I think most people have more than 1 PC and would like a centralized back-up for all the data, so its good that company's are pushing alternatives to owning a "true server". I do have to say at the end #LinuschatupTips

Hey Seagate, I'm disappointed that the 3tb backup plus for Mac isn't an aluminum housing even though it looks like it. That said, it's nice that it isn't glossy black plastic like WD's.
