      One word: utility. Dodge offers one of the most versatile minivans on the market (with a lot of close seconds from the Japanese). VW needs to not only equal that, but surpass it in some unique and distinctive way. Not just for the interior, but accelerating, braking, and handling. From what I can see, its not even close.

    the 5 seater version will sell like hot cakes, the passenger row seats folded height wont be any issue as they or many companies will make a camping pod to match it, so you then have usable camping bed platform... with under neath slide out ply box housing your stuff (to include cooking equipment / solar, mains, UPS, leisure battery's).

    I owned one of the new Beetles back in 1998. People were very excited over it back then. I have to say this new ID. Buzz is giving me similar vibes again. It's almost perfect except for a few things. Wish the rear seats folded flat so you could sleep back there while camping. VW needs to add lighting to the volume and climate controls. Also, hope that VW puts in a larger battery, say 100 kWh.

      The concept car version of the ID Buzz of around 4 or 5 years ago had an ingenious rail system embedded in the floor… allowing you to move / remove seats at will. Really sad that this didn’t make it to the production vehicle. Maybe it’ll make the cut in the longer wheel-base editions that are expected to debut next year.

    I just sold my T6 kombi and loved the versatility as a day van but I used to store the single seat in the garage most of the time fto allow for easier access to the rear and to load surfboards and longer items inside easier. Cows and pigs are k.... for food, and what about their skin? Throw it in trash? Landfills?

    • @michaelmcgavin7106
      @michaelmcgavin7106 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The solution is not breed animals at all and not use them for food or for leather. The real waste happens when you have to grow 10x more crops just to feed farm animals. It's a waste of land, water, and food, and it creates a lot of habitat destruction and greenhouse gases. There's no point driving green electric cars if we just eat away our future instead. Plant-based diets is what EAT-Lancet and United Nations are recommending to keep the human race alive beyond 2050.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
      In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
      The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html
      Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
      For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
      In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html
      Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

The van was good for off-road use to go fishing or hunting because it had the ground clearance...with the stock 15" tires. Hopefully you DID NOT LOWER IT because they are useless as highway vehicles. Underpowered. My dad drove manual transmission 4 speed in all of them. It also was his WORK TRUCK, his weekend camper, It could take 2 motorcycles INSIDE IT. I am not sold on the CHEAP BLING OF ELECTRONICS ON IT. I watched how it is put together on another video, (basically glued together.) This is better than spot welding? A couple of HEAD ON CRASHES SHOULD TELL YOU. [I WAS DOING 60mph AND THEY WERE DOING 80mph IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. I LIVED AND SO DID THEY. NO SEAT BELT.
    But the spare tire bolted to the front helped a lot in that collision and was 100 yards off to the side of the road.

    I’ve got a Volkswagen electric transporter which all the professional reviews on TH-cam by car journalist said was fantastic, the reality is the Volkswagen electric transporter is by far the worst van in the world. There is over a 50% performance difference from +10° and to below 10°, absolutely shocking performance from the battery. If you’re using a super charge it will cost you £16.50 to get less than 50 miles electric charge out of these Volkswagen electric vehicles absolutely shocking performance and then Volkswagen will lie to you. When you try to raise it as an issue Volkswagen will tell you that unless there is a technical fault then everything is as it should be. Watch out for the watchdog report on Volkswagen.

    Give us some options other than ELECTRIC. Electric vehicles are VERY TOXIC, not green at all, and the media loves to hide that fact. Batteries are very toxic, and not recyclable.

    Also car manufacturers in 2022 : We need less chips because we only have a screen now instead of 100 buttons but now are removing basic illuminating functions.
    Also car manufacturers in 2025 : Here is a torch in case you need to activate some functions while driving at night....

    VW has had some very similar experiences with different VW models in the past, which VW wanted to reanimate, for example the Beetle, which was optical very near to the legendary VW Käfer.. All these attempts have failed miserably!

    It is a great mini bus for families. It is good, except interior design. The interior looks really cheap and looks very plastic. I did not like the id3-4 for that. However, skoda owned by volkswagen and interior is great.

    VW needs to speed up its timeline of getting their EV long campers into full distribution throughout the U.S. Any delays will result in loss of customer base as other companies are going to launch into the camper van EV space sooner. Fire the executives responsible for the delays and replace them with execs focused on ramping up distribution within the year instead of 3 years which is simply preposterous.

    I think VW have now confirmed that the 6 seater (2/2/2) version will use the same short wheelbase. The longer wheelbase will house the 7 seat (2/3/2) version.

    I would like a reviewer to cover the current sensors in the id.buzz what it adds to driving assist and parking (check out other manufacturers, top down parking view). I glimpsed sensors in the roof line, are they sensors? Or were they adapters for roof Euro Rails? All these videos are rehashed VW news room points if interest.

    The vw cargo van would be perfect for the single or couple, its more versatile for camping, or whatever and I like the color, blue/white, only no specks were given, so I gather they’re the same as id, the question is what’s the approx charging times, and is this model available in the US…

    Would rather have gasoline engine in the rear, and also, would rather have driver's seat OVER the front wheels, so the driving sensation is like the classic bus had.
