This is the best video on the thinkware dash cam I have seen! Excellent and very informative! Mine is being delivered today and this is very helpful. Thanks so much!
Triple M Thank you for taking the time to show in depth your Dash cam video. it was precise and to the point not to fast and not to slow but just right. I bought this system complete Think-ware U1000 4K with a 152gb sd, rear cam & radar for the bumps and such. you sir got a thumbs up and a push on the subscribe from me in Lakewood, CA :)
I wish I saw this video earlier. I got confused over what is the "hotspot" and how to use it. I got really screwed up trying to use it without a mobile modem/hotspot. Needed in the end to reset my camera a couple of times. I then found your video and better understand this feature.
Great video! Very informative. I just purchased 1 from BBMC. I am replacing my Blackvue dr 650 gw 2ch. I am so sick of the SD card issues causing it to restart constantly and the overheating issues. I hope Thinkware's product is better. Does Thinkware's U1000 require a Power Magic Pro or is that just a Blackvue thing? Does it come with something similar or is it built in?
Grrrr. I so want to believe you are really a great stand up person... theres always doubt right? ....Dammit I think you really are ! I am so subscribing, I think you are just a straight up honest dude.
hey quick question, If you can help I just installed my U1000 and this is the second day, while I was driving the WiFi will disable after 15 min of driving did that happen to yours too? and what is the EXT for?? can you explain what you did at 18:29 please, i have the battery pack too
flipmode00 squad It’s funny, the extension port on the device was not accounted for Even in the instructions manual. It simply glassed over it like it never existed. So I’m thinking I think we’re is going to make this usable in the future release or from your update. I will reach out to them to try to get more clarification. For the Wi-Fi issue, make sure your device isn’t set the switch off Wi-Fi if network is poor. Plz see instructions below. How to Connect with Wi-Fi (iOS): (F200/F800/F800Pro/Q800Pro) Go to your Phone’s Settings App> Cellular > Scroll to Bottom > Wi-Fi Assist Disabled (Keep Disabled) Press the Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi Button Connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi Network with the default password "123456789" Open the Thinkware Cloud App If not connected, Tap the “Not Connected” Bar Click Wi-Fi and press Next until you hear “Connected to a Smartphone” How to Connect with Wi-Fi (Android): (F200/F800/F800Pro/Q800Pro) Go to your Phone’s Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > Top Right Corner (either 3 Vertical Dots or Advanced) Switch to Mobile Data > Disabled (Keep Switch to Mobile Data Disabled) Press the Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi Button Connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi Network with the default password "123456789" Open the Thinkware Cloud App If not connected, Tap the “Not Connected” Bar Click Wi-Fi and press Next until you hear “Connected to a Smartphone”
At 18:28, I use the battery that I had from the previous installation; it was from a BlackVue system. So I simply used the wire that came with pink where for the fuse box. And routed it to the BlackVue system with a harness for that battery. I am not sure how you have your system configured, but if you don’t have this exact configuration and I do it may not be helpful to you. Any specific question about your set up that you want me to answer?
@@Triple_M Well I drive a g37 and I have to connect the wires to the Fuse box. I saw a video on the tube from 🌟 CarTeck and they splice the wires instead of using the fuse which is brilliant but when I had the f800 pro, my device kept resetting while driving and when the car was parked at night. After so many troubleshooting with Thinkware we couldn't find the issue but I had a feeling it may of been the connection getting loose while driving but that wouldn't explain why it would happen at night too. So I went to a shop and they said that the wires were in fact connected properly meaning "power and constant etc"
Just so you know, there is no alarm/alert from the rear dash cam if someone is approaching fast. Also the “ext” port is for an external gps antenna. Our units don’t need one as we have it built in, but you can add a second one if you want. I don’t think it adds any benefits, though. The FCWS has two modes as well in the settings. You seemed to not really know the difference between the two in the video. One is for lower speeds (under 30km/h) and the other one is for higher speeds (over 30km/h) Hope some of this info helps.
Great video, I’m looking at purchasing the Thinkware cam setup, but I have a couple questions... 1. What is all the concern with the hotspot deal? Don’t all dash cams require a hotspot or WiFi the same way? Am I able to access videos or live feed from the dash cam anywhere on my phone? Do other cameras allow you to access video from anywhere whether the cam is connected to a network or not? 2. Can you confirm that video in parking mode will actually show the seconds prior to the sensor trigger? 3. What are your negative assessments about the unit? 4. Is there another unit you would recommend more? 5. I would want to put a 128gb card in the unit. Do you have to buy Thinkware’s 128gb card or would a SanDisk High Endurance card be sufficient? Thanks for your time!
1. The hotspot comes in handy in parking mode, when you are away from your vehicle.. you can log in remotely and view live what's happening around the vehicle.. it will also send you alerts in parking mode... for instance, if someone bumps into your vehicle, you will get a notification on your device. 2. yes 3. no much to say at this point, maybe bring some of the improvements over to the rear camera would be great, but they already have one of the best rear cameras in the business, so that's just being nitpicky... 4. for now this is the best in my opinion because it is a reliable, jammed pack full of features and its has 2k in the rear. 5. no, I remove their SD card and replaced it with a Sandisk it works fine
Just a curious question if you turned the power button off will that shut everything off when I park the car in the garage at the house I don't want to drain the battery even if I get it hardwired
My car has automatic start/stop feature during stop and go traffic. Do you know if the parking mode kicks off when the engine turns off in slow moving traffic?
Good review! Thank you. Just a heads up... looks like the reason why the rear camera quality doesn't look as good as the front seems to be caused by your rear tints.
I have enjoyed your review. You never said ummm, or uhhhhh!! Professional job and thank you. My question is they sent one for you to review, can I be sure that does not influence your words?
It's a really great system, I still have it installed in my vehicle. If there were issues, I would have pointed them out in the review. I have since added a wifi hotspot in my vehicle to have monitoring while away from home.
Triple M how did you do that. Is their a certain device for the WiFI. I am a Professional Umpire and Referee. I want my car covered. Can you tell me if this fits. I really wanted a 360 with parking mode. Pls respond.
I stumbled upon this video and was curious about the freedompop hotspot you mentioned. I have this dashcam and the video quality is fantastic but the mobile hotspot and notifications are the part that confuses me the most.
Yes, I have Freedom Pop, and once you get it set up, you can use the free data every month to monitor for parking mode... I started recording a video for it but didn't see much interest so I scrapped it..

Great video. Thank you. I just got my thinkware installed. The setup is a little confusing. I can't figure out the difference between wifi and hotspot. And I can't get radar enabled.
@@Triple_M Hi, Im worried if it can withstand extreme cold? I live where it gets -40 to -50 (winter). Will it affect my car battery if hard wired? Thanks
How does this dash camera work in the heat of Florida? Here in California sometimes temperature gets over 90 degrees and dash cameras don’t do well in hot weather.
Hi TripleM I bought this dash camera the radar module and a blackvue battery pack but the Issue that U have is that I cant get more than a day running the camera after after 14 Hours the battery is at 30% I set the recording at time saving the only thing with this power magic ultra battery B -124 X it charges really fast
Does the rear camera independently detect motion and start recording during motion detect parking mode? Your info is much appreciated. Trying to figure out if I need 2 front cameras or just a 2Ch unit.

Why do I have to change phone settings every time I want to connect ? Just too damm complicated , Why do I have to be in the car if I want to see the videos ?
