I would only add that you should make sure the window is in the track before you button it up. If it isn't, put the window all the way down and loosen the 10 mm bolt at the lower right. You can then finesse the window back into the track.
Dear friend, I THANK YOU FOR THIS HELPFUL VIDEO. I replaced my front driver side window regulator just by watching your video, it was great help. I live in St.John's Newfoundland and the weather is terrible as its gusty winds and snow fall, I took my vehicle to a friend's shed and changed it, it saved me at least $70 for which I thank you. The window regulator that I got locally is made in Taiwan $180 not that good, where as the one from Honda was $500, but can not afford it, but is good.
I did it! The video was great, although it took me a lot longer to finish my repair (mainly because my window was stuck in the up position and I had to cut the cable to move the window down. I had to wait until I could get my hands on something that could cut that strong cable. ) The new regulator works perfectly and even though I probably took two or three times as long as a mechanically inclined person to install it, it was well worth the effort. I saved close to $200 over what the dealer was going to charge for the repair. Thanks!
Got this done in about 2.5 hours as a relatively handy person with only very little car experience. My window was stuck up and would not budge even with me pulling the window down while someone depressed the window down button. I was able to get the job done by taping the window in the up position and (with significant difficulty) I was able to use a box wrench to remove the bolts from the regulator - it was so tight I even had to remove my wristwatch. I got the left regulator bolt removed by snaking my wrench up through the large cut out in the bottom left side of the door. I then removed the right bolt by working my wrench down from the top windowsill area and working it into place by guiding the head of the wrench with my left hand which was snaked up through the aforementioned cutout in the door. Thanks again for the great video and best of luck to everybody!
my new to me 2005 crv window was stuck down after being left open in a rainstorm. My local mechanic wanted $750 for repair using genuine honda parts. He wouldn't even quote me for aftermarket parts. Charged $220 for diagnostics and putting window up with duct tape. Thank you sooooo much for this video. Took us about 2 hours with another $75 in parts and the window works like a charm!
Thanks for this great video with detailed instructions. I’m new with fixing vehicles and having a lot of fun saving money and not going to mechanics anymore. Had this done in little under an hour!

Very clear instructions, and the part from 1aauto fit and worked great. Took me about an hour total. Your time may vary depending on your skills and automotive experience. Thanks, guys!
Thanks 1A Auto!!! Ordered the replacement regulator/motor assembly and the window now works. My issue was the window was stuck in the up position. Cut the cable and the window would still not budge. After unscrewing the regulator and motor, was able to move the window around inside the door to reach the two window screws with a small 10mm wrench, it was difficult, but not impossible to reach up to unscrew even with the window still relatively in the up position. But once those two window screws were out, could remove regulator/motor and lower/raise window and replace.
I am so far from a mechanic and this only took me 40 minutes with these excellent instructions. Saved me hundreds on labor and only cost me $70. Thank you for this video!
Great help! I would never have tried that if I didn't watch your video first. Honda wanted about $900 total in Vancouver Canada although that was a phone estimate. It took me three hours to go slow and check the video constantly. But I am not a mechanical and thought I gave up repairing my own car about ten years ago. I do follow instructions well and these were good.
very good video. One suggestion. My window was stuck in the up position. After reading the comments I cut the cable for the regulator. That did not work and was also quite a feat to do. As an alternative you can still remove the two bolts by reaching in the door panel and fishing in a small box wrench. I used one of those flex end ratcheting box wrenches. I knew they would be good for something sooner or later. I am no mechanic but I have taken off a number of door panels for car speaker installation and fooled with all kinds of wiring harnesses. This job is not complex but takes a bit of finesse.

Great Video! Replaced the regulator in my '06 Honda Element after watching. Love the editing (speeding up in places with detailed instruction). Thanks for helping me save some money on this project. Took me less than an hour and I'm not a mechanic by any means.
Good video. Like others, here, I ran into the problem of not being able to get the window down far enough to be able to loosen the bolts that hold it to the old regulator. The video should have covered this problem. Yes, I thought of cutting the cable but could not find a way to get at it. I ended up completely disengaging the old regulator from the door and moving it into a position where I could get my socket wrench (without extension) in through the large hole in the door panel on the left, to be able to undo the two bolts.
This video is great! I bought this part and was able to swap it out in a couple of hours. My window was stuck closed so I had to cut the cable to lower it. This window regulator was labeled as made in Taiwan and seems pretty close to OEM, if not better. Thanks 1A Auto!

Many thanks for this. For me it turned out to be a bad connection, but it was your video that helped me get the door panel off in a jiff. When I do need a part I will come to you first.
Many thanks for the video.....I referred to it several times as I changed my mechanism. Sorry, could not get the part from you as would have taken to long to get to New Zealand. One thing that might be useful for others. Its really hard to get the cable ties back in place. So I snipped them off. Then there is a slot at the bottom of the clip where I could put a new cable tie through and tighten up to similar tension to the old ones. This may stop a few rattles.Once again...thanks...great video.

Hi and thank you for this video. I do have a question though..my 2003 CRV drivers window is frozen in the upright position and will not go down when the button is pressed. I was told by Honda that the switch is ok, but the regulator needs to be replaced...how do I lower the window to loosen the bolts as you show in the video?
I've replaced 4 of these on Accords, but last night, in the cold, and dark was not in the mood to go about it on my crv in the "trial and error mode". My window was stck down so my son and I watched your video while thawing out (we are in Colorado). We then went out and removed the broken regulator on 5 minutes and jammed a 2x4 under the window to hold it up. Came inside and placed an order with tyou for the part. In my case, the cable was frayed and twisted so it wouldn't move much. Thanks

Thanks for the great video! How can I tell if the problem is with the switch or the regulator? My driver's window is unresponsive. There is no sound at all when I press the window switch. All the other windows work from the driver's master switch panel, just not the driver's window. Can you advise which leads to test for continuity on the master switch panel and on the window regulator connectors? Just want to make sure I'm fixing the right component. Thanks! Jeff
The issue might be related to a pinched wire some place and is ground out the entire window to the frame of the CR-V. Your best bet would be to check for any frayed or pinched wires.
Great video --- thanks much for putting it up. Also, I know it would be a few extra steps, but would removing the speaker help in gaining access to removing/installing the unit?
I am currently fixing my 2004 Honda CR-V. This video is perfect tool for learning to do this. I do have one/two questions. Did you grease the regulator before installing? What kind of grease do you recommend?
+7froggy2 LOL gameplays The window regulators that we sell come pre-greased. Here's a link to them on our website if yours is bad and you would like to take a look at the ones that we carry. Mine was stuck up also. I removed the 4 track bolts and the 3 motor screws then pushed the bottom of the track forward, towards the hinges, and was able to get the window low enough to get the two bolts out with the ratchet and 10mm socket.
Very competent. Impressive video. The driver side window on our 2005 Honda CRV will not lower. The other windows are unaffected. I don't know if that indicates a bad connection, bad switch or regulator problem. I plan on opening the door panel tomorrow to find out. If it is the regulator, I'll order it through you. How long will it take to deliver?
Most orders reach their destination within 3-5 business days depending on where it's getting shipped to. If you call our sales staff they can give you a better idea. 1aauto com 888-844-3393
thank you, I have a 2003 CR-V and my drivers side window got wet when I left is down at lunch and ah yeah, it rained!!! It went back up but it kept fogging up so I rolled it down and down it stayed. It doesn't make a noise!!. All the other windows work and the door lock works! Is this going to be the same problems seen in the video, and I need to get a replacement window regulator???
Thanks for posting this helpful video. The driver-side window on my 2001 CRV is stuck in the closed position. Incoming voltage on the plug to the regulator motor tested fine. But when I applied 12 volts from the battery directly to the wire attached to motor, nothing happened. So appears I need a new motor and regulator. But how do I get the glass down to remove the 2 mounting bolts that secures the glass to the regulator. I have the panel off, but can't budge the glass manually.
There's only one window regulator in your door. In the video we're showing the old and the new window regulator and explain that you need to transfer the bolts from the old window regulator to your new one.
They could be. You could try to spray all of the weatherstrip around the windows with a little silicone spray. You can this at your local auto parts store. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
+Daniel Clark Our pleasure! For anyone else needing to make the repair, you can find the window regulators here: www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Honda/CRV/1AWRK00353?TH-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony
Hey, video looks good. Any chance you guys have another how-to for a 2001 CRV, front driver side window. I've noticed the door panels are different from the later models.
Hi. The experts say that if the regulator has gone (my problem is driver's side 2002 CRV), there will be a grinding noise, or will be able to move the window by hand. However, my window just stopped working and, if I try the switch, there is no noise and the window doesn't move. The other windows work from the master panel. In your expert opinion, could this be the regulator, or something easier? It's not the fuse, as I've checked. Great video by the way. Thank you.
A Quick question: does that part include the circuit board having code PWSS5A? Sorry I do not nothing about auto parts and my father’s circuit board has broken. Thanks
At the 14:52 Mark, you moved that bar slightly upwards to give room to get the regulator out. I did likewise but the left side popped free. Do you have an idea what that connects to so I can pop it back in? Not the end that connects to the door handle but the other end. Video?
Just a comment on the technical side - do you need to add grease to the part as I noticed the Honda regulator I took out has a good deal of grease on it???. Also - when you put in and take out the 2 longer bolts that connect to the window connector - the bolts most likely will not line up with the bolt holes (as it did in your video). It may be necessary to reconnect the window power putton and manually raise/lower the track holding the window so the bolt holes line up with the 2 bolts.
Good tip John that is correct unfortunately it is not always as easy to line the bolts up as it was in this video, sometimes you do need to raise or lower the track to get at the bolts. And as far as adding grease is concerned, you dont have to. The regulators are ready for install however if you wanted to add a little grease in the tracks it isn't going to hurt anything. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Trying to get this swapped in, window is stuck in the up position, cannot pull it down manually to remove the two bolts in the track, any other suggestions?
It takes very long for my window to roll up and it's so close to dying as you can really hear the motor trying to turn over. I took my panel off, so now I'm ready to put the regulator and motor in. Can you tell me what model I need for a 2000 honda CRV.
You would need to replace the motor and regulator as a complete assembly on this vehicle. We carry new regulators with the motor on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
The window still seems to go down/up slowly in your video. All four of the windows in my CRV are very slow and I would like to remedy that. Are the window channels at fault here?
I have a question and I kind of want to know what could be the issue before I send it to a mechanic. My passenger side window goes down slowly and goes up slower, as I try to hit the switch to make it go up, my engine seems to want to stall off, I can hear the difference in the engine as if the engine's idle speed is slowing down. I'm guessing it's a short in the switch and I need a new window motor but I don't know I'm not a mechanic, yet. Thanks for your help.
You may want to take the door panel off an see if you can physically see anything going on with the window regulator. You could also check the power going to the window motor from the switch with a test light. We carry a new drivers side window regulator with the motor for a 2002 Honda CR-V with FREE SHIPPING on our website 1aauto.com Part Number: 1AWRG00409 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
You may be able to apply some of the basic steps that need to be taken and apply them to your vehicle. The correct part number for the drivers side window frint regulator on your 2007 Honda CR-V is Part Number: 1AWRG01056 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Question, what if you just want to replace the motor, how do you separate the motor from the regulator? I was told by Honda that is what is wrong with it
This may sound like a stupid question but is there any difference between 00-01 and later model crv specifics when it comes to what kinda window motor I need to get?
+shadow “shadowking13” king13 That's not a stupid question at all! But it's definitely important to be sure you're getting the parts that are appropriate for your model year. You can find the parts you need on our website at www.1aauto.com! Just enter your year, make and model in the dropdown menus to the side of the search bar and then type in "window motor" and you should be able to find what you need. Thanks for watching!
how do you get the window down if the button doesn't do anything at all. Is there some release that will let you push the window down? My right rear window does nothing when I hit the switch.
+CMDR Karos You will want to test for power at the window regulator because you will need to cut the cable to get the window down. You will want to make sure the regulator is bad before you break it more. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com

Great video, thanks!
Great video! 💪👍🏼

We currently do not have one for that particular year.
Cool beans thanks for this tutorial. This looks pretty easy to do now I can go and do my own.

You may want to check to see if any of the electrical connections in the door need to be dried out.
On your site you offer this regulator. My main question is what brand is it?
thank you, I have a 2003 CR-V and my drivers side window got wet when I left is down at lunch and ah yeah, it rained!!! It went back up but it kept fogging up so I rolled it down and down it stayed. It doesn't make a noise!!. All the other windows work and the door lock works! Is this going to be the same problems seen in the video, and I need to get a replacement window regulator???
We are currently doing videos on other vehicles but we can keep this in mind for one later on.

Thanks for making the video but you need a camera man because i cant see how you got those clips out.
+Yah’s Chosen Thanks for the feedback!
If you fast forward to 44 seconds we explain all of the tools that you should need to perform this repair. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I found a heat gun is great to loosen the sticky stuff to get the plastic to remove and then stick back in place. Just don't get it too hot.
Thanks it helped me
They could be. You could try to spray all of the weatherstrip around the windows with a little silicone spray. You can this at your local auto parts store. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Super helpful! Thank you so much!

They're not any specific brand, they are made well. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks
Super, thank you.
At the 14:52 Mark, you moved that bar slightly upwards to give room to get the regulator out. I did likewise but the left side popped free. Do you have an idea what that connects to so I can pop it back in? Not the end that connects to the door handle but the other end. Video?

Does the water shield need new adhesive or it can just be reapplied with no problem?
I just bought the window motor regulator in your website. is there any difference to do in a CRV 1998 ?

Trying to get this swapped in, window is stuck in the up position, cannot pull it down manually to remove the two bolts in the track, any other suggestions?
Thanks for watching. You can cut the cable for the regulator. That will allow the regulator to go up and down.

What tools are needed?
Hi Chad, I'm not sure which one you need. You can visit our website at 1aauto.com we may have one listed for your vehicle. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thank you for your order, it may be a similar procedure to the one shown in the video. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
thks your video greats..
Where can i get the replacement screws for the inner door panel on the passenger side of the 2004 honda crv
1AAuto.com
