Thanks. It's great that you mentioned "attention literacy". 90s kids will remember that there was a time when they could get through a movie without scrolling on their phone or read an entire book in a sitting. We need to bring back that level of attention.
I'm a gamer, I can play a game without watching my phone, Video games like Rdr2, God of war, cyberpunk etc,, changed me into a better person, Video games>>> any media.
I tried all the ways to block my dopamine addiction with a smartphone and failed. I use a nokia dumb phone now, no insta, whatsapp, no gpay -- life seems a little more boring but I am able to do other things better now like start actual conversations, meet people face to face and pay in cash - who everyone loves.
@@yoyodude662 you say that but what advantage do you gain by being good at attention on video games. although i do agree that u've got a much better attention span than most of those that are way too into the brainrot.
I don't know about others, but when I scroll through reels, I can’t even remember the last one I watched. I just scroll mindlessly. When I watch TH-cam videos, I either play them at 2X speed or keep skipping 10 sec continuously. My brain has become completely dependent on finishing everything quickly. Since I realized this, I’ve decided to make a change in 2025. And this video is the perfect way to start the year.
I am skipping 10sec with videos with lot of talk and no informational value. Bad editing is a waste of time. Especially if the videos are more than 10min or 20min long (or longer) and at the end it could have been said in less than 5minutes. I need the information I want to know and not all the gibberish around it. It's true videos contain much more information than written text , but videos also can be badly put together. Quality over Quantity.
Here is how I tackled this problem : 1. Place the phone somewhere else , and incase of need I simply turn on ( Focus mode ) in my phone to avoid distractions. 2. Sit in a chair for half an hour doing nothing ( If its a sunny day just sit in the terrace or any place in house where the sun reaches )except what I do is write down any interesting thought that comes to my mind and search it on AI chatbot or google . 3. I exercise and play table tennis , Its good for blood circulation and brings peace to mind . 4. Slowly decrease the screen time , I couldn't just drop it to some few minutes cuz it was 8 9 hrs before, it has been 19 days and its down to 2 hours including my lecture video of 1.5 hr
last point, as a computer science engineer, screen time is something that i cannot avoid as an entierty, but when it comes to phone screen time, we can for sure control the thing. As of now, 20:48, (yes i prefer military timing, to get a sense of proper time measuring of the day) i have limited my screen time to 1hr 12 minutes, and most of the hting i did was play with camera, chatting for sometime, and a short burst of instagram(in phone web browser, for friction). In phone my weekly avg used to be 6-7 hours. This is the second time i have achieved to control my screen time in phone, but for today my laptop screen time is 11 hrs 28 mins, now you may say i am just shifting the device, but no, i have watched only 6 yt videos including this one, and 2 shorts, 10 reels (in phone). I have exams going on, but even so, this will be an achieve ment where i am actually selectively choosing the content i see and making the most of the time and having a worth while, i am trying to rewire my brain where it will release more dopamin when it does something productive.
@@theonlymaster9374 someone like you who is working in a field surrounded by tech devices , its pretty difficult to avoid screen.I use blue-ray glasses to avoid straining my eyes, ( You should try that as well , do some back exercises too ) . BTW I also use laptop for most of my work. So, from screentime what I mean is the useless content I used to watch 😆.
I am a clg student who is struggling from distraction and brainrot for few months , this video put a new mindset in me and I wanna thank u people for doing such a great job...
@@sumitlodhi8775i feel like it made an impact on him and helped him realise stuff and he wants to give something back? why are you bothered tho? is it your money?
I just feel this video came into my feed as a warning. I can sense that I'm unable to focus at work, unable to complete tasks, procrastinate, running around consuming stuffs and not practically implementing it. This video is an eye opener. Thank you so much for this
Im sorry but watching this free feels like illegal im sorry i cannot give out money like other people do but you guys are slowly but surely becoming one of the best educative channels in india especially editing wow

The editing was top notch, the graphics and all. Even though it's AI generated, having the skill to harness the powers of AI to create such graphics is no joke.
@@mandar_desai34 Increased production with reduced cost means they can afford viewers who do not directly pay them (although every viewer brings indirect benefits). Not talking about anyone's skills.
The sound effects while playing graphic illustration is crazy, someone put really that much effort for a little thing. The details in this video is mind blowing
Just 3 steps: 1. Start watching longer videos related to nature, learning (which brings you peace and shouldn't excite you) without skipping or increasing playback speed. 2. Reduce screen time as days pass; keep your phone away after the certain time limit of the day ends. 3. Do NOTHING. It may sound easy but it's much more difficult I followed this long back and this video mentions the same. This absolutely works! Pro tip: Instead of spending time in devices, get some FRESH AIR bruh!!
I'm glad this video was recommended. Lately, I have realized how little my attention span has become due to constant scrolling on social media and I have started seeing same outcomes in personal life. That was the must needed for me to watch!!
Brainrot has really affected me the past few months. Its so easy to go down the rabbit hole of reels and lose track of time and days. This video motivated me to get off social media and reset my dopamine receptors. One thing that really resonated with me was "focus, memory and creativity are worth protecting". Thank you :)
Absolutely bang on, the struggle is real; its high time we reclaim our attention as our own to spend. The first step like you rightly concluded is acceptance and then being intentional about how we spend the attention currency! Keep up the excellent work!
dude you just gave someone over the internet you never met/seen/smelt/touch a day in your life 500 dollars. Your not even getting a product or service in return either from that 500 dollar you just spent on literally nothing and please dont say "i gave her 500 for the youtube video gave me value" because you couldve easily just downloaded this video for free.
I am through this process of unlearning and trying to rewire my brain and but bit by bit I was understanding. But after I fix something, my brain was ready with another problem. And again I have to start it from the beginning. I don’t know that, everything that makes us happy has direct relation to dopamine. In this way it would have taken some more months to totally understand what’s happening. Then more and more to train myself to get control over my brain. I don’t use insta, or any short videos. No to digital devices after 8pm and many more. But it was not totally helpful But Thanks to u that u made it so simple and save a lot of time in understanding. It’s time to save ourselves from this digital era as they keep finding new ways to control our brain. This is surprising that reducing stimulus overload restores brain capacity for deep focus Thanks a lot achinamayya and aevy tv for ur amazing content I feel happy now and dopamine…….😂

I have my ways of controlling my brain and well mostly the content I consume even in the form of short reels is also something related to either my field or prolly my interests or some sport I do in my free time
THINGS THAT I'M DOING TO AVOID BRAIN ROT: 1. As u mentioned in the video, Keeping the phone in the other room definitely helps( Bonus tip: You can put ur phone at DND While studying or working out) 2. I made 2 google accounts for accesing youtube. When I have to study I use a different account than what I use to watch entertaining stuff while eating or just consuming informative content like this vdo. 3. Practising Mindfullness is also very important measure. When I used to live alone at my PG, I used to listen Podcasts or songs While doing any tasks like folding clothes or cleaning my room etc. But now i make sure that I'm doing one thing at a time. 4. Deleting All the social Media apps on my phone. I can't emphasise more on this point as it's one of the MOST IMPORTANT amongst all points . After I deleted my social media I can notice many changes in myself like Increased focus, Less restlessnes. (I am even thinking of buying keypad phone) So, these were few Measures that I'm taking in my journey of defeating THE MONSTER OF BRAIN ROT. I hope it helps Someone.
i have gone through this situation too .. i got out of it with 3 steps that took me years yet they are very effective 1. deleted all apps, insta, facebook, etc 2. turned off all recommendations in youtube 3. turn off almost all notifications these 3 are more than enough to decrease screen time but I'm still struggling with my attention so i started meditating, and i am can slowly see the changes if you are starting ur journey now, i hope u get out of it as soon as possible with these 3 steps, ... just remember not to lose hope as this even takes years. all the best :) to Aevy TV thank you so much, ur videos are literally changing my view about TH-cam, ur videos are so informative and useful. im really grateful that i found this channel.
How do I start meditation? Are there any apps or tutorials available? I want to start meditating but I'm not sure how. I don't just want to close my eyes and daydream; I need legit help. Anything will be helpful.
Absolutely, I have done the same as well. No apps on phone at all. an d no notifications, all are disabled. Except banking apps and other few important apps.
In 2018, I deleted my Facebook account, and the following year, I accidentally uninstalled Instagram. My approach is simple: I block all notifications from apps that I don’t need. The only notifications I allow are from WhatsApp, which I primarily use for work, and emails related to my job. Even with these measures, it can still be challenging to resist the temptation of watching TH-cam shorts from time to time.
After I read all books on mindBloomery, I finally feel like I am in control of my life. I stopped listening to negative people and I started to focus on my goals every single day. This video really reminded me about the contents of these books. I focus on clarity and chase my goals one by one.
so everyone, that person was right:" Eat 5 star and do nothing." Boredom is important (thought not for more than one hr a day, be productive as well). Thankyou so much to Aevy TV team for delivering this content
I have almost completely lost my ability to read books - I used to read about 15 books per year. The only thing that can still completely immerse me and make me put my phone away is watching movies. Edit: It was a struggle, but I managed to watch the entire video in full screen on my computer. Thank you for this gem. Greetings from Brazil!
Frankly, I'm relieved that I managed to watch the entire video without changing the playback speed or skipping. There's still hope for me. I did zone out multiple times, so I went _back_ a few seconds and listened to those segments again. This is why I hate technology and this inherent "speed is good" thought in humans... but I must adapt as well! ₹40 is my teeny-tiny contribution to help you create such meaningful content. Thank you for this much-needed video!
I thought about this a lot. Infact most of what you mentioned in the video, I already realised maybe by myself. But obviously it took hours of deep thought. For starters, eating food without doing anything else, you can let your mind wander around or focus on chewing. 2. Not taking your phone in the washroom 3. Walking or cycling without any music, podcast, audiobook is great. 4. I don't remember the exact word for it, but a feeling of "rooth Jana" from something works wonders if you want to avoid it. Works for sugar as well as phone. 5. let us not drool our mind and amuse ourselves to death Think of free time = letting the dust settle in your mind or let your mind breath
You're so real for that. And yes cutting down on listening to music 24/7 is a great place to begin with. Eating the food on dinning table with family/friends/alone instead of earing while watching a video on YT or anything is way better!!
I started reading books about some important decisions in life which helped me. I find the idea of doing something you like rather than avoiding is a better work around mostly
@@aayush4161 I don't know how it started, but back in 2019, I saw a lot of vids/podcast on why sugar is bad and why we should avoid it. I used to love sugar until then. But after watching these videos, i felt betrayed, like something I loved eating is just so much harmful. So mein "rooth Gaya" (in a childish way) towards sugar. It not like I don't feel cravings, maybe once in couple of months (only if I have sweets at home -example in diwali) but also as you grow older you just don't want to feel ache and pains or upset stomach all the time so you avoid eating certain foods just to feel normal. Last year I tried this with phone, cause I felt bad how much time I'm wasting and it was effecting my work. So as soon as I used to wake up I start the forrest app and keep my phone on charging (face down) in the corner of the room and I'd try to ignore (as long as possible) it like my ex. I hope it helps.
I just stumbled across your channel. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together. It's a serious issue that I'm noticing in everyday life more and more. The long-term implications are stagging and absolutely destructive. Like yourself, I've found my ability to read long form books has greatly diminished over the last few years. Like all things, it seems the body *must* be constantly trained to remain in good condition. We can't simply expect that we're going to maintain the ability to focus deeply without intentional effort. Thanks again for this great video. I'll be sharing it.
Thanks a lot for the amazing video. I have also been researching Brain rot and how it affects my studies. The tips that I am working on are: 1. Turn off the notifications and keep my phone silent and away from me when I am studying. 2. Keeping a book with me all the time so that I could read it. 3. Keep a habit tracker to track my habits. 4. Do something that looks boring for 5 minutes so that I can continue it. 5. SPORTS: Doing any kind of exercise even 10-20 minutes walk can be very good for our mental and physical health. 6. I have taught myself that STUDYING/LEARNING is nothing boring but the best way to increase my knowledge. 7. Also, I would like to be around people who share ideas with you so you can learn from each other and grow together.
Your time and efforts to research these content are incredible ✨️, and I'm literally enjoying the way your videos are edited by your team, I'm highly appreciate behind team their efforts towards making these beautiful videos💖
I have been going through all the things you talked in this video. I had no idea how to come out of it. I knew i was in a trap but at the same it was me who made to fall deeper into this trap. Thanks for talking about this and giving us some ways to come out of it. I'll definitely try and will see if it works for me. Signing off.
I’m honestly the best when it comes to controlling phone habits. All notifications ? Blocked. WhatsApp ? Only essential chats. Instagram ? Fifteen minute limit. TH-cam ? Just one hour. Everyone else is glued to their screens like addicts. When I am out with friends, I am the only one not scrolling mindlessly or taking ten snaps a minute. I do not even bother with Snapchat because it is pointless. I have already convinced two out of ten friends to follow my lead, but honestly, I am on a whole different level compared to most people. Someone has to set the standard, right?
Can you please help me with this too.... I have my exams next month and I am not feeling a thing, no responsibility, literally nothing. I sometimes feel like studying but after sometime I am back to doom scrolling. Please help me!
You're like my mirror image ,I haven't logged in my fb account since 10 years ,I haven't logged in my insta since 2 years didn't use it more than 2 months when I created ,didn't like it much ,but youtube was my main problem ,now I have time limit for youtube regularly read books for hours ,and I feel better each day.
Beware there will be a sense of superiority youll think that you’re better than them make sure to be mindful,Just putting away your phone doesn’t mean your life will change
I feel u bro , same here...I deleted insta 3 years ago and before that also I used to deactive more often...I have habit of disappearing...and no whsp , no inst, no other app...but my friends used to call me old fashioned...and I left them too....😂😂😂 Because they were too much addicted ...they will come together to just watch movies or make reels which was frustrating for me....and never had a hour deep convo with them... But do u feel same - when too many people use phone...and u want to talk to someone deeply...u see nobody .... because everyone will start using phone in 20 mins
I watched this video and i sat for about 45 minutes right after and i realised i loved learning new things, and i have decided to take changes in my life. I always wanted to get a PhD in Marketing. I’ll look more deeper into it. Thanks! It’s the first time a digital content has opened my eyes!
I just stopped using my phone and laptop for a week and my focus increased drastically. I was hard for first 3 days but after that your cravings decrease. If you feel like using your mobile phone just wait for 15-20 mins that's how long the cravings usually last.
This is my day 2 of learning something everyday. I started this journey because, I understood that I am not able to remember or memorize anything for the past few months. But few years back I was not this person. This is very alarming and I came across this video, the way you explained stuffs was actually nice. I now even struggle to type a long message. Guys we are in danger, or it's just me!
Huge respect for you maam. I am from gen Z but I also thought that this scrolling period taken our creativity and imaginative powers. Human brain is capable of so much to do incredible things . Thanks to support and raise this issue .
You can start with small steps. Start working out, it has great influence on your mental well-being. I also felt like my brain is stuck one year ago, but I completely changed my routine. I started working out at the gym three times per week, walking every day 6k steps per day, and I got myself a meal plan from OnlyMeal. I dropped 90lbs in 2024, and I feel better than ever, and my brain works like a clock now. That's it, happy new year!
I used to carry a lot of resentment and pain from my past mistakes without realizing it, but at 34 years old I finally feel like I live in peace and with greater joy every day. This change was motivated by a book I recently read called Manifesting with Alignment. i love it
From this new year, I pledged to put my phone in my bag (away form my sight) and also deleted social media from my phone. This helped me lot to regain my focus; even I started observing results from day 1. And in addition to this I am strictly avoiding my phone in the first and last hour my day; this gained me a lot of focus, clarity and mindfulness about how much I was harming my brain....... All the best guys.....❤
This is how I solved this problem. 1. Uninstall all shorts/reels/feeds providing platforms from the mobile phone (TH-cam and Facebook in my case). Install an extension to block feeds and shorts from youtube for browser. 2. Stop using smart watches 3. Play some physical sport (Table Tennis and Badminton in my case) 4. Go out with friends at least once in a week 5. Read books from actual books or maybe using a kindle 6. Use youtube for only educational purposes. No shorts at all.
Is there an extension that allows you to block videos shorter than the specified duration, 10 minutes for example. I think even videos less than 15 minutes may be a waste of time in most cases.
i just decided to stop consuming mindless content and your video popped up at just right time . thanks alot im sure that the insight that you have provided will surely help me in this fight against myself. other than that i really look up to you as someone who i want to become like someday. lots of love to you.
this is just what i didnt know i needed. the way you explained everything before just insisting to leave everything was phenomenal and at some point it felt like this phone is being devious and using me, thank you! for showing how to actually escape this atrocious situation instead of just giving vague info. i will prevail over this brainrot and will come back with updates
I'm 19 and in my school days i used to be up till 4 or 5 in the morning. And honestly it destroyed my once perfect academic history. I was so devastated and helpless of my situation that time. Fortunately here today I'm learning new things, I'm still not over the reel habit of mine but I'm exploring new dopamine hits and habits that i switch with 15sec reels wali habit. And it's helping. Again thank you so much of such good quality content Achina jiii we are glad to be a part of aevy tv
I was having my lunch while watching the beginning [0:02], and every time there was a notification, I would stop preparing my next bite and look instantly to the screen. WHAT A REALIZATION.
As a neurology student, I deeply understand all the concerns shared in this video, I can share some tips which I follow for better attention span and thanks for sharing this kind of content because we definitely need this. We can write diaries and journals of daily happenings, or just grab a pen or diary in an empty room without any distraction, write your thoughts and feelings, it won't just help you mentally, it would also help you spiritually as it would connect you to your deeper self. If you've read till here, be glad that at least you still have a bit of attention span. The next tip should be to learn to stay still and not keep scrolling, in my theory the instant gratification would ruin the true essence of life and humanity among us,
The funny part is my brain insta skipped to "If you've read till here, be glad that at least you still have a bit of attention span." after dismissing the journal idea as not for me. I do have a good attention span though I watched the entire trump inauguration yesterday back to back, but I am trained to process irrelevant / relevant info very quick.
Actually first of all, I've been watching Aevy Tv from quite a while now and you lot have become one of my favourite go to channels for good and healthy content!!! So I was facing this same SOCIAL MEDIA BRAINROT problem a few months back and as I'm a JEE25 aspirant, this was very bad for me, my career and my mind...So the few small steps that I took were, firstly setting a timing for social media for 20 mins a day, and for breaks I took walks and naps instead of watching reels.. I tricked my brain getting used to less dopamine rather than a huge mountain of it...And now after 6 to 8 months I can actually say that, I don't use social media like ig, reddit, and twitter for even a minute....I can say, this process might be a bit long but gradually you can become the best version of yourself!!!✨️
Consistently working (and failing but trying again) towards building self-discipline and being AWARE and CONSCIOUS of what I am doing has worked wonders for me. Remember, AWARENESS is the key!
Thank you for addressing this issue. A lot of people are suffering from low attention spans, which is leading to a state of frustration. To improve my focus and intensity, I started doing things that can be done without the internet and phones. I also make sure to go outside and stare at nature-whether it's the sky, trees, bushes, rivers, lakes, or the ocean-and just sit there, admire them, and try to keep my phone far away. This approach has really worked for me.
Thank you so much. I was fighting constant anxiety issues over the past couple of months and now I feel like I can actually gain back what I lost in the competitive run in this digital world. Change will take time but I will be patient till then.
1.Watching long form content (at 1x speed!!) 2. Having timers set for reels/shorts. 3. Sitting ideal or Looking around.(avoiding the constant urge to check your phones) 4. Keeping oneself engaged by trying new hobbies or working on the ones we already have!! 5. Being curious and questioning new things around! Hopefully this might help :)
As someone reverse who isn't entertained by shorts I think a lot of it also has to do that long form content must be meaningful to you. A huge part of watching long form stuff is watching stuff thats meaningful. And a lot of times I do enjoy multitasking so ill do a hobby with a long interllectual podcast on I am also following and taking in. Its about giving our brain the right balance of things at once, thats not a bad thing if its boring to just sit still and watch something. But make sure your not missing out by doing it in such a way that works for you. Also big important thing, be well rested on my days I am behind on sleep my brain also goes full brainrot mode and nothing holds my attenttion. Thats a self defense against doing to much, just don't hack the system by opting for easier to digest stuff and have a break.
In other words: "Acknowledge the Implicit" We hold a fuzzy stress of intention and impression for any social or material interaction. This stress is often guided by a culmination of bias or habit. Somehow, I find that the very act of acknowledging one's 'first thought' hooks their attention or curiosity for what may be the second thought. Another rationalization may be that it pushes one's ego. We are hypocritical/inconsistent in that we subconsciously or lazily act against our true values.
Thanks a lot for putting this out so clearly. Loved every second of the video. Hope we get enough mental power to tackle this problem. Just a solution to fix endless scrolling: Every phone has a functionality to put a timer on the apps. Please start using it. All the best.
Today i was preparing for an interview and i had to go through a question, it literally took me an hour to process that question and answer inside my head and it never happened before, though it was so simple. man brain freeze and brain Rot is so real 💯
This is the perfect video i needed! I didn't realise i had a disconnect and urge to close this video every 3-4 minutes.. Lately iv realised i have trouble focussing even in office meetings and conversations.
I got my first mobile phone in 2021, and I was addicted to it for 2 years. I used a simple trick that helped me avoid phone usage: consume content only between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Here are three reasons why you should follow this : 1. Content consumption at the end of the day it's the last part of your day, it won’t affect your thoughts because you won’t dwell on the content you consumed the previous day. 2. Let time decide, not you: If I feel bored, I don’t decide whether to use my phone or not; my set time determines it. 3. It’s simple and easy to remember: The plan is straightforward, making it easy to stick to. ❤
Consuming content which is not right at the end of the day can disturb your sleep quality! It does not rely on time whether you consume content in the morning or night, but the qualities/values/moralities which you inserting in your brain through that content! ❤
@parikshitshelorkar8753 yes... I set the qualities I'm interested in for my favorite things and I spend my half sunday in social media and cinema.it's not about time and quality it's all about the information or content. We don't need an execessive amount of information in a day. Otherwise, It will leads to information overload.
Love this video! Tips: If you have an iPhone, set notifications from all social media platforms that use some sort of infinite scrolls system to deliver in scheduled summaries rather than immediately, and put on a really low daily time limit for the same apps. This allows you to place more emphasis on the "social" part of social media as opposed to the scrolling machine mechanic. Use it or lose it is a super important concept. As mentioned in the video, focus on performing activities that use long term memory, deep focus for extended periods of time, and that provide long and slow releases of dopamine. This allows the brain to understand that these mechanisms are still required and are being used, and hence they will be retained. Chess, going out rather than staying in, joining some kinds of regular classes, long slow conversations, reading, philosophising, long deep focus, meeting new people and getting to know them are some examples. Cannot stress how effective just leaving the house and interacting with other people is! (Especially if you live alone.) As you slowly start occupying yourself with other activities and hobbies that take up the majority of your time, you'll suddenly have this moment where you realise, "Hey, I can't remember the last time I doomscrolled!". One of the main reasons these issues exist is that in today's world, a lot of us do not occupy ourselves outside of obligations and end up holding up a flag saying, "free attention available, ready to grab".
I have been addicted to social media for years now, although i made a lot of changes like quitting instagram, turning off yt shorts but the problem I'm facing now is trying to get dopamine hits from long form content of entertainment, it consumes my whole day and to change it I'm here ready for giving up this addiction as well and learning something new in my life. If I'm aiming for this then I will because i know i can. I've realized that this might be the last chance to get out of the loop. We can be more than this it only needs a try. Let's wish ourselves Luck.
I'm a 21 years old boy I never used any social media app except youtube and telegram(for my study ofcourse) and never watched reels (if you turn off your youtube history it will not show you any short video and that's what I do) when I first heard about brainrot I thought is this really possible but after seeing around me children of age 5-8 constantly scrolling shorts and reeling and crying when their parent took their phone I understand that it's really happening. I think it's good cause that makes our competition very easy if we are competing with them.
We are on the same page buddy😂( btw people who think that this person is a bot account are actually dumb cause I myself don't use FITS just TH-cam that too because of studies)
Excellent video here. I've learned so much more about myself from watching this video all the way to end. I think this video should be getting a million likes and the 66k likes as of this moment is a highly underrated count for representing the quality of the content this brings. It's a shame to human society knowing that there are so many 15 second short video clips out there getting millions of likes for some brainless activity that brings instant pleasure while this only gets 66k.
Hi Guys, First thing - I previously followed Varun Mayya for years and following you guys from inception. You people are doing great, thank you so much for the content! I simply uninstalled the Instagram (which is the real mind killer), and I have a limited social circle of friends who won’t give a damn about whether I’m in Insta or not, they just give me a call or ping me. Then I started watching TH-cam shorts, turned off the watch history now I won’t get recommendations as well as shorts. I only have videos in subscription tab which is well filtered by me. But the thing is I scroll reddit and listen to podcasts in TH-cam as well as Podcasts. However I cannot able to sit without mobile and listening to something maybe partially due to I’m living alone currently. Trying to get back to my kindle, coincidentally I’m just started with your book The Content Creator Handbook, I’m not planning on becoming one but Varun’s perspective is good to listen and read. Anyways thanks again for making such videos, keep rocking guys!
Thank you for sharing! Let's fight this together! Actionable Steps: 1. 30mins uninterrupted quiet time 2. 1 or 2 hour Screen time reminders. Remove notifications from unimportant social apps. 3. Reading for 15 mins or one chapter a day.
The advice she gave at the end is truly valuable. We're constantly being bombarded with information, but we almost never get to filter out what we're actually consuming as we just hop off to the next video or to the next chat, and this scatters our focus so much. I think we should try to stop living on autopilot and be more aware of our everyday life actions
I have just made a pact with myself this year. Begin the day with meditation and end the day with introspection. By just doing these 2 things, you'll be able to consume and participate in everything mindfully.
Thnx alot I was stuck in a bulshit loop of destroying self from 6-7 months..... From few weeks i decided to change my self And this vedio helps me a lot....❤
The production quality of this video is INSANE ! As a motion designer myself, I can understand the efforts and time it must have taken for the Aevy TV team to bring such top notch quality. PS : I was once offered a video editor role at Aevy's team when they were just starting out. Good to see how far they have come!

Hey, Viraj here! So glad to hear that I'm part of that 15%! Haha! It's so true - creativity really does take a hit when we don't let our minds wander. You said it perfectly!
Agreed, but the topic is at least genuinely beneficial to us, unlike other useless videos. One thing I will try from now is watching videos with audio only to avoid distractions from visuals.

Some social media platforms have this streak thing, and it’s kind of scary. At some point, you feel like you can’t even take a break for a day without breaking the streak. It’s like they hook you in, and it’s a bit too much sometimes.
Although I can't watch any movie or a season of drama in one sitting, I am thankful that I can read an entire book in one setting. Reading books is something for which I am willing to ignore every notification from social media. In fact, my friends are tired of me because I don't reply to them quickly. They say I am a weird one.
I suddenly noticed a surge in my consumption of YT shorts in the past 2-3 weeks. I feel overstimulated, anxious and fickle most of my day. I will gain my mental focus back anyhow. No matter how difficult it will be, I am going to take action and regain control over my mind.
3.8K comments already, don't know if you ever got to know about my comment I just wanted to share that I've been spending the entire day watching TH-cam rather than studying. I was very good at my studies but then I got highly engaged with TH-cam and just moved on with it🙎🏻 ⚠️But I've now made a strong intention of not taking my phone up at least for the upcoming 21 days! Thanks for making this video that shows our one of the biggest problems right now!❤❤
1:22 Same, I also feel Difficulty in Reading after shorts came in youtube. TH-cam was best before Shorts. Miss those 2018-2019 era of youtube, the best era of youtube.
@@saadmahimi7537 Exactly. Early 2010 was the best time for youtube. Everytime I login youtube, I used to watch some funny animal videos, 5 minute craft, just for laughs, hacksmith, geekyranjit and very few channel which was actually informative. Everything gone downhill when these content creators started exploiting the platform for money. I really miss the old internet.
I watched the complete video. Thanks for changing my life. I literally deleted all of my social medias today, permanently so that I don't have the option to go back. Thank you so much!
Here is how i tackled the problem: 1. Get to know my screen time and set in my mind not to let it increase over 2.5 hrs a day(safest upper limit) 2. I should sit or sleep doing nothing but donot watch TH-cam... 3. As i get bored.. I get nice thoughts about my own life rather than seeing what others are doing on social media. 4. Im a student, hence i would do my academic work instead of watching others and commenting on videos... Result was a bit nice for me.. It is taking time for my brain to set right as im on psychiatric treatment❤ Thank you 🙏 for this beautiful and thought provoking video 😌
For nearly 1.5 years, I was truly addicted to consuming brainrot content. I spent a lot of time doom-scrolling and struggled to focus. I tried everything the internet suggested to break this habit, but the most effective solution for me was to start using a shorts and reels blocker on my phone and PC. I also shifted my focus to reading books. After 2 months of making these changes, I'm proud to say that I'm almost back to a point where I'm no longer wasting my potential on this stuff.
maaaan, i tried those apps but unfortunately during my free time my brain started to think if there's anyway to like use apps while they are blocked and i somehow did break few of those blocking apps T-T

Guys , I consider myself a loser before this video. In eyes of my relatives and family I am a good student or child but I know my potential and things which are affecting me mentally and driving me towards brain rot . knowledge given by this channel is being fixed into my mind. They have not given so many ways but after watching i have clarity what is needed for to be done and how to do it .
Few things which I feel it’s kind of working for me to get out of brain rot. 1. Create friction to things you want to avoid ( Yt remainder, deactivate insta, extension for blocking sites, etc.) [atomic habits] 2. Most important working out. [ most neuro specialist recommended] 3. Whenever I sleepy or lazy , instead of coffee or energy drink close left nostril and breathe via only right nostril for few minutes, you can actually feel the energy surging up in 10 minutes slowly. Unlike coffee u won’t crash after sometimes lasts longer [ Luke ] 4. Pomodoro technique for blocked working sessions and I takedown so random thoughts that come so I can look into them in break. 5. Most important is having a todo list for day. Without that most of time goes in scrolling. 6. Reflect on how u spent the day, how much time went to productive work and how much went to scrolling, just feeling guilty is not sufficient. You need to measure to improve. You can’t improve if u can’t measure.
Pomodoro Technique has been my most effective way to study. Just 2 months ago it was difficult for me to study for 5 hours now I Divide my tasks, set Timers, count hours and minute and I study 10 hours a day. Its almost like when the timer starts, all your distractions vanish and only think your brain remembers is to do the task. So true if you don't measure you can't improve
“I am 34 years old; some time ago, I was a *chain smoker.* My brain was *thinking in a strange* way, but after a lot of hard work, I gave everything up. To think clearly, the *brain should develop good habits; this is the mantra for 2025.”*
Thank you aevy for the information, and your research . You are putting a lot of efforts . I really learned many things from this video. Do not have words to describe your work.
This video was really informative, especially as a student no one could relate more. Though we try to unhook ourselves from these platforms, circumstances are such we cannot make it without finding any reason to use it again. My college requires us to use laptops/tabs to write exams, they keep communicating via Whatsapp every day, it is hard not to use it. Not just for education, a week without social media and you feel like you missed out a lot from your peers.
this steps help me a lot-- 1--->I’ve set a time limit of 50 minutes on my social media apps, like Instagram, to prevent excessive use. 2-->I’ve disabled all recommendations on TH-cam, so when I open the app, nothing appears, and I have to search for what I want to watch. 3-->I’ve turned off all notifications to avoid distractions while doing focused work.
The video was very, very informative. A thing that really worked for me is meditation, even a 30min meditation in a day really works a lot. There are so many alternatives, but it's totally upon you how you're going to fight with the distractions.
Thanks. It's great that you mentioned "attention literacy". 90s kids will remember that there was a time when they could get through a movie without scrolling on their phone or read an entire book in a sitting. We need to bring back that level of attention.

@@yoyodude662 agree, video games are great at keeping our attention.
I feel like shit after watching shorts/reels
Just disable shorts and install google digital wellbeing 😢😢😢
Fr man
Then don't ?😂
You won't scroll through TH-cam shorts continuously, as TH-cam won't recommend 1 short after another, if you turn your TH-cam watch history OFF.
Been there
I don't know about others, but when I scroll through reels, I can’t even remember the last one I watched.
Same.. I have also decided to reduce my screen time
Same attention spam is decreasing 😢
I support you bro!
Same! I could watch 100 short Reels or shorts, and remember maybe 1. Just noticed this a few weeks ago. Kinda frightning.
Thank you for great insights. This was really helpful to rediscover the self-attention. Much appreciated. 🙏

@ no, but I can understand Marathi :)
Here is how I tackled this problem :
Interesting, I will try too
We will try
last point, as a computer science engineer, screen time is something that i cannot avoid as an entierty, but when it comes to phone screen time, we can for sure control the thing.

Just 3 steps:
1. Start watching longer videos related to nature, learning (which brings you peace and shouldn't excite you) without skipping or increasing playback speed.
2. Reduce screen time as days pass; keep your phone away after the certain time limit of the day ends.

I have my ways of controlling my brain and well mostly the content I consume even in the form of short reels is also something related to either my field or prolly my interests or some sport I do in my free time
THINGS THAT I'M DOING TO AVOID BRAIN ROT:
1. As u mentioned in the video, Keeping the phone in the other room definitely helps( Bonus tip: You can put ur phone at DND While studying or working out)
(I am even thinking of buying keypad phone)

1. deleted all apps, insta, facebook, etc
2. turned off all recommendations in youtube
3. turn off almost all notifications
these 3 are more than enough to decrease screen time but I'm still struggling with my attention
so i started meditating, and i am can slowly see the changes
if you are starting ur journey now, i hope u get out of it as soon as possible with these 3 steps, ... just remember not to lose hope as this even takes years. all the best :)
to Aevy TV thank you so much, ur videos are literally changing my view about TH-cam, ur videos are so informative and useful.
im really grateful that i found this channel.
Yes I started with this a few years ago too and it helped. The 1st step is the most important step.
How do I start meditation? Are there any apps or tutorials available? I want to start meditating but I'm not sure how. I don't just want to close my eyes and daydream; I need legit help. Anything will be helpful.
I also did the same it's been 1 year since my youtube feed is off
Absolutely, I have done the same as well.

2. Not taking your phone in the washroom
3. Walking or cycling without any music, podcast, audiobook is great.
4. I don't remember the exact word for it, but a feeling of "rooth Jana" from something works wonders if you want to avoid it. Works for sugar as well as phone.
5. let us not drool our mind and amuse ourselves to death
Think of free time = letting the dust settle in your mind or let your mind breath
Can you elaborate 4th point
You're so real for that. And yes cutting down on listening to music 24/7 is a great place to begin with. Eating the food on dinning table with family/friends/alone instead of earing while watching a video on YT or anything is way better!!
I started reading books about some important decisions in life which helped me.
I find the idea of doing something you like rather than avoiding is a better work around mostly
Going back to roots maybe? Haha@@aayush4161
We can't simply expect that we're going to maintain the ability to focus deeply without intentional effort. Thanks again for this great video. I'll be sharing it.

2. Keeping a book with me all the time so that I could read it.
3. Keep a habit tracker to track my habits.

I’m honestly the best when it comes to controlling phone habits. All notifications ? Blocked. WhatsApp ? Only essential chats. Instagram ? Fifteen minute limit. TH-cam ? Just one hour. Everyone else is glued to their screens like addicts. When I am out with friends, I am the only one not scrolling mindlessly or taking ten snaps a minute.
That's it, happy new year!
nice result! I am also thing the same, start with small steps is the best.
You bloody legend. Good on you. That's massive.

Wow😮
Life unplugged Ep 5 to 8 haa ! Thanks me later if you by mistakenly watched those videos on YT they are something else 😏
Wow man
Bro, what do you do for a living?? 😮
2. Stop using smart watches
3. Play some physical sport (Table Tennis and Badminton in my case)
4. Go out with friends at least once in a week
5. Read books from actual books or maybe using a kindle
6. Use youtube for only educational purposes. No shorts at all.
why smart watches? I feel like if you arent always looking at them its just like a phone. I mostly use it for my workouts :(
Is there an extension that allows you to block videos shorter than the specified duration, 10 minutes for example. I think even videos less than 15 minutes may be a waste of time in most cases.
i just decided to stop consuming mindless content and your video popped up at just right time . thanks alot im sure that the insight that you have provided will surely help me in this fight against myself. other than that i really look up to you as someone who i want to become like someday. lots of love to you.
this is just what i didnt know i needed.
the way you explained everything before just insisting to leave everything was phenomenal and at some point it felt like this phone is being devious and using me,
thank you! for showing how to actually escape this atrocious situation instead of just giving vague info.
i will prevail over this brainrot
and will come back with updates
WHAT A REALIZATION.
i haven't even picked up my phone in the past 6 months and i still caught myself looking lol. feels like i've been indoctrinated.
One of the books I recently read called Manifesting with Alignment by Ryuu Shinohaba talks about this. Crazy how this stuff aligns.
Are you confident for jee 2025
So glad to hear, you managed to do that. I hope it helped in your preparation, best of luck.
@@hey_ashh thanks mate! Appreciate that🙌✨️
Consistently working (and failing but trying again) towards building self-discipline and being AWARE and CONSCIOUS of what I am doing has worked wonders for me.
Can't believe they provide these videos for free
Huge respect
Thanks alot
They are never free....you are spending time
@@qwertykeyboard2142atleast better than spending time on yt shorts or reels tho

spoken like a true simp, they have sponsors in this video itself and earn ad revenue from google. That's why many people fight to create engagement.
2$ per comment
1.Watching long form content (at 1x speed!!)
2. Having timers set for reels/shorts.
3. Sitting ideal or Looking around.(avoiding the constant urge to check your phones)
4. Keeping oneself engaged by trying new hobbies or working on the ones we already have!!
5. Being curious and questioning new things around!
Hopefully this might help :)
idle*
And read books
turn off all notifications
0:27 that was a good reel in, people do what they're told not to do. Perfect way to make someone watch til the end👍
haha thats what i thought
In other words: "Acknowledge the Implicit"
We hold a fuzzy stress of intention and impression for any social or material interaction.
Just a solution to fix endless scrolling:
Every phone has a functionality to put a timer on the apps.
Here are three reasons why you should follow this :
Tips:
If you have an iPhone, set notifications from all social media platforms that use some sort of infinite scrolls system to deliver in scheduled summaries rather than immediately, and put on a really low daily time limit for the same apps.
(Especially if you live alone.)
As you slowly start occupying yourself with other activities and hobbies that take up the majority of your time, you'll suddenly have this moment where you realise, "Hey, I can't remember the last time I doomscrolled!".

I have stopped all youtube recommendations and that has helped me very much,I believe
Hi Guys,
First thing - I previously followed Varun Mayya for years and following you guys from inception.
16:28 I saw your video till the end, but tbh I had multiple distractions till reaching the end. I had to watch 3 ads and skip them.😂😂

Thank you for sharing! Let's fight this together!
Actionable Steps:
1. 30mins uninterrupted quiet time
2. 1 or 2 hour Screen time reminders.
Greatt initiative !!
Gotta do this too
meditation is what will make you crazy with nonsense thoughts.. do something useful.. only empty brains can meditate

Ah the irony of the video talking about brain rot, but edited in a way that literally brings the same effect
Was looking for this, exactly. But i got it, without it, the percent of people wo watch till the end would be much lower :D
@pavelstastny7892 so true 😁
Agreed, but the topic is at least genuinely beneficial to us, unlike other useless videos. One thing I will try from now is watching videos with audio only to avoid distractions from visuals.
@@pavelstastny7892 Or maybe because of this percent of people who watch till the end is lower? I could speak only for myself but i tend to skip parts of videos made like this. I dont like to see this many changes, sound effects when they are not needed for meritum of video.
ah nope i guess? what quick overload of stimulus does this have? its a medium paced long form video
Me too, reading books is something which keeps me away from phone maximum
I suddenly noticed a surge in my consumption of YT shorts in the past 2-3 weeks. I feel overstimulated, anxious and fickle most of my day.
I will gain my mental focus back anyhow. No matter how difficult it will be, I am going to take action and regain control over my mind.

1. Get to know my screen time and set in my mind not to let it increase over 2.5 hrs a day(safest upper limit)
2. I should sit or sleep doing nothing but donot watch TH-cam...
3. As i get bored.. I get nice thoughts about my own life rather than seeing what others are doing on social media.

1. Create friction to things you want to avoid ( Yt remainder, deactivate insta, extension for blocking sites, etc.) [atomic habits]
2. Most important working out. [ most neuro specialist recommended]
3. Whenever I sleepy or lazy , instead of coffee or energy drink close left nostril and breathe via only right nostril for few minutes, you can actually feel the energy surging up in 10 minutes slowly. Unlike coffee u won’t crash after sometimes lasts longer [ Luke ]
Well said.
So true if you don't measure you can't improve
what video/technique are you referring to in your 3rd point?

This video was really informative, especially as a student no one could relate more.
Though we try to unhook ourselves from these platforms, circumstances are such we cannot make it without finding any reason to use it again. My college requires us to use laptops/tabs to write exams, they keep communicating via Whatsapp every day, it is hard not to use it. Not just for education, a week without social media and you feel like you missed out a lot from your peers.
this steps help me a lot--
1--->I’ve set a time limit of 50 minutes on my social media apps, like Instagram, to prevent excessive use.
YOU MAKE SUCH A GOOD AND EDUCATIONAL VIDEO
