It's so strange seeing kratos gently snap his neck instead of ripping his entire spine out of his body attached to his head. Kratos really has chilled out over the years.
What’s so ironic about Freya telling Kratos that she will send him straight to the darkest pits of Hel is that Kratos has *LITERALLY* been through Hell and back over 3 times

That "well done boy" followed by the attack of the world serpent, coupled with the simultaneous swelling of the score, is honestly one of the most epic things I've ever witnessed
In Norse Mythology it was Loki who caused Baldur's Death Atreus carried the mistletoe arrows and if Baldur didn't punched the boy then he wouldn't die, so basically Atreus caused Baldur's Death and he was revealed to be Loki in the end The writers are damn good.
Something I feel that’s under appreciated about this game is that there’s no cuts making the cutscenes and gameplay ebb and flow very seamlessly. I just think it’s a nice touch.
Something I rememberer hearing was that when the made the game they tried to make it so that it had no loading screen (or what could also be called a “black screen” still meaning the same thing but just a different word) expect of course the screens when loading into and out of the game.
Gow better attend the oscars. Because this is a movie with a bit of gameplay. It is enough to press a few buttons to finish this game. In 2018, it was Red Dead's right to win Game of the Year. Not this movie.
It’s funny, Atreus spent this whole game doing my head in, and then boom, he absolutely blew me away in the final fight, the arrows, the summoning of the serpent and just the all round commitment that he had to the fight, I really respect him as a character after that finale
Let’s not forget that Freya could have ended Baldur’s curse at ANY TIME. She saw how angry and upset it made him, and she said that she feels bad or whatever, but she could have easily found mistletoe herself and used it to end his (metaphorical) pain. As much as I love her, she’s definitely not someone who should have her own child. 19:07 one of my favorite parts

@@tip4736 Actually, he goes against Norse myth in this one. Freya and all the trolls are Norse. Grendel originates from Beowulf, which comes from Scandinavia (not necessarily Norway though). All the Valkyries are Norse as well. Unfortunately, there's no Thor or Odin in this one. Maybe in a direct sequel.
@@zephyrgaming865 jormungandr came from the future thats why atreus/loki is still young. But in the future atreus/loki will shag a giantess and make fenrir hel and jormungandr. Which means hes there father
It's a good thing they didn't add the Quickie time event in this game. With Atreus going with you everywhere, there is absolutely no subtle way they could pull that off. "Dad, why is she naked?" "Wait outside, boi..."
That, and it doesn't fit Kratos anymore. At the end of GOW3, he forgave himself for killing his wife and daughter, which means he didn't need to lean upon vices like sex anymore. He moved to Midgard and found love again with Fey, rather than lust.
@@stevenwayne3701 Indeed and that is very important for a child's development, especially in the early stages when very vulnerable. It becomes a problem when the child grows older and the mother continues to control too much.
This is my favorite fight in the game. Just the way that Kratos and Atreus truly fight together is so amazing, and the wordless synergy they have is so great to see after their struggles
Kony Lane What the fuck? It happened in any age. Whether golden age, viking age, or medieval age. Why else would you fucking think why Game Of Thrones And Skyrim exist, or how they are! They’ve all existed ever since. So quit with your bitching, dumbass!
Ragnarok still has more and better boss fights though on top of dlc so i wouldnt say rushed it was just as univerally acclaimed as this one and is better in more ways@abangman8942
This part was extremely deep. Both sides are fighting in order to protect their sons. I like that Kratos always had symphathy for people who attack him to protect their children, in GOW3 he has respect and symphathy for Hephaestus after he tried to kill Kratos to protect his daughter. The only difference here is that now Kratos didnt attack Freya and also saved her life, show how much better Kratos become morally
FYI. Atreus is Loki for sure. Because the second of wife of Kratos is Laufey/Faye. In Norse Mythology. The mother of Loki is Laufey. Loki's Son is The World Serpent. That's why World Serpent said that atreus is so seem familiar. I see in the wall in Jotunheim, Atreus with the wolf. And that wolf is Loki's Son. And it is Fenrir. Why Atreus will Cause Ragnarok. Well. In Norse Mythology. The Fimbulwinter will come after Baldur die. In Ragnarok. The Combatants of Ragnarok are World Serpent, Fenrir, Surtur and Frost Giants.
I noticed when atreus calls the serpent his eyes start glowing. I also love how kratos is gaining his old skills back (due to years of deprivation from combat) when he gets hit in the air he counter attacks in this fight. Although when baldur does that exact attack earlier on he doesn't counter attack. Although you could argue Kratos never had his blades of chaos earlier on.

Well most human girls only have to deal with that for about a few years give or take. Baldur has had to deal with his mother's bullshit for like, I dunno. 1,000+ years. Again, give or take. I think he has the right to complain. xD
@@jstar3382 kratos put his sheild put so be could have a smooth landing I'm he didn't he would probs bounce of the bridge. He also puts his sheild put to sheild atreus even though he knows it won't hurt
I think kratos saw his old self in baldur that's why he tried to talk him out vengeance instead of fighting him again but in the end baldur was so twisted up by his life he couldn't let it go
He’s definitely going to appear again in the sequel because it is said that during ragnorak all the realms are open including hel so maybe he could come back
“Boy, listen close: I come from a land called Sparta. I made a deal with the gods that cost me my soul. I killed many who were deserving.... and many who were not. ..... I killed my father.....” “That was your father in Hel... is this what it is to be a god? Sons killing their fathers... their mothers?” “No. We will be the gods we choose to be, not those who have been.”
I love the character development so much. Kratos went from a cold unfeeling man bent solely on revenge to a gruff father who wanted the best for his son. More than that though he tried to reason with baldor before the fight started to spare Freya the pain of losing someone she cared about. People talk about how he became a great dad but I dont see nearly as many talk about how he became a great man.
Knew only love, but not punishment or scorn, so when the authorities got a hold of him and his mother cried for him, he bit her ear off, or something like that.
Sometimes mothers tend to only see the best in their kids, no matter how far they've fallen. I'm sure, if Freya would be living in 10's, we'd find her in r/entitledparents.
Entitled Freya= EF Entitled Baldur= EB Kratos= K EF: Give my child your axe! He gets good grades and deserves it K: NO! What are you crazy! My dead wife gave me this! EF: I don’t CARE! GIVE IT NOW! ( Lunges towards k) K: (Smacks EF out of his reach.) EB: starts crying K: Aw shi- EF:LOOK WHAT YOU DID! NOW MY SWEET INNOCENT BOY IS CRYING! K: *runs*
The interesting thing is that in Norse Mythology, Baldur is depicted as maybe the nicest God ever. He's the god of love, poems, beauty and happiness. It's likely Baldur was completely different before Freya cast her spell on him.
Riley Chavis Zeus was Prophetized to be killed by his son, like he killed his father, and his father killed his grandfather. So when he killed kratos in GOW 2, he thought he was ending the cycle of sons killing fathers
Agree, we already had like a dozen angry boy kratos with the same game mechanic for a decade. No jab against the old mechanic as it's still one of the best, but a major change is due
If their fight actually happens, I kinda hope Freya would eventually realize there's no point for her grudge and just give up since it's unlikely that she can beat Kratos, and I doubt Kratos would kill her, seeing how Kratos has changed.. I mean, I at least hope we'll finally see Kratos spare a God/Goddess and at the same time, we'll also finally get to see a God/Goddess that yields their anger on Kratos and accept that he is the personification of War.
@Ib7 h he's not a man, he's a god which means as he ages he gets stronger. it was confirmed by cory barlog. Kratos is like mature now so refuses to attack and let his temper get the best of him. in the novel it shows that he woudn't even attack a bunch of wolves he would just wait for them to get tired. If kratos got mad then he would easily beat odin.
The most badass part about this fight was how Kratos and his son were perfectly in sync the entire time. When Kratos dived off the giants nail and gestured Atreus to follow and he just straight up started sniping Baldur in midair.
The only part that threw me off about it was the "we must be better than this" like who was he referring to when he said we because baldur can't improve as a person when he's dead 😂
This boss battle is like a step dad kicking his step son's ass and the mom wants it to stop but it needs to be done. "STOP DISRESPECTING YOUR STEP MOM TIMMY"

Its only a game im cringing
hAHA IM 12 AND CRINGE AT EVERYTHING
I noticed when atreus calls the serpent his eyes start glowing. I also love how kratos is gaining his old skills back (due to years of deprivation from combat) when he gets hit in the air he counter attacks in this fight. Although when baldur does that exact attack earlier on he doesn't counter attack. Although you could argue Kratos never had his blades of chaos earlier on.
