Dont forget the question your repel is over do you want to spray another one A very tiny thing but nowadays its soooo much easier to walk through a cave of zubats without having to open your bag every minute
The Unova Leaders being listed as underrated makes me think of the Sinnoh Leaders being even more underrated. To me, Gen5 perfected what Gen4 did with Gym Leaders. We had family relations (Byron and Roark being father and son), master-student relations (Crasher Wake and Maylene), and friendships (Maylene and Candice), with plenty of them being found outside their respective gyms.
Comment below if you spotted our shaking friend from my last video, in the foreground of this one. ALSO, stay tuned for next week's video; it was highly requested :)
Pokémon world tournament NEEDS to be a constant feature. They've pretty much given up on the battle frontier, so I think the tournament is the next best thing. Post games have been really lame after gen 5
To be able just to click on the water or a stone to use a HM instead of needing to open the menu, select 'pokemon', select the pokemon who knows the HM move, select the move and finally, you were done
Well, I feel like the exclusion of PokéStar Studios from Black 2 and White 2 from this list cement just how underrated it is. It was awesome! The idea of battling with different objectives and scenarios was really fun and the writing for all of the films is fantastic. And it adds a lot of playtime to the games. Getting all the good endings took me about 10-15 hours and getting all of the endings took like 30 hours. I've been active in the Pokémon community since mid-2013 and I have heard practically no praise for this post-game masterpiece. Maybe I'm talking to the wrong people?
Granted Black 2 and White 2 have a lot of post game features and this is the one that is introduced to you first so I understand why most people forgot about it, but it's still great and incredibly underrated in my opinion.
I think that contests are a VERY underrated feature, I adore them and love to play them but I feel like nobody talks about them, which is a shame :/ Nice video though ! :3
It seems like they brought back the gen 5 gym leaders in the form of the trial captains...they have jobs, and roles, and families. It honestly kinda sweet.
One of my favorite features ever is having any Pokemon follow you. I know it takes up a lot of memory but it's just so satisfying to have your buddies follow behind you.
Truegreen7, I've got to say, I've really enjoyed watching your videos. Every time a new video pops up I get so excited to see what topic you're going to talk about, because you make your videos so fun and entertaining to watch, and seeing how much passion and love you have for the Pokemon games really changed my perspective on them. I never noticed how amazing the Pokemon games could be, like the amazing music it has and the awesome additions that you talked about in this video, it all seems so different now, and I don't think I would've enjoyed Pokemon Sun and Moon as much as I did if I hadn't watched your videos and it's become my most favorite game, so thanks a lot! :-)
You know what's underrated? The ability to view stats and abilities in battle in Sun and Moon. Seriously, you can be able to keep track of stat changes and get familiarized with moves for your Pokemon.
I think one of the most underrated features is when it automatically asked you if you wanted to use another repel. Cause digging into my bag 5 separate times while traversing Chargestone Cave in B&W was a pain in the ass.
The bags having different pockets and being able to hold a pretty much limitless amount of items. The organized boxes. Moving your cursor freely on the map screen. Genders. Breeding. Shinies.
Number one reminds me. Gen 4 in general is where the competitive part started to become strong. Before that, it was mostly an afterthought. The battles became deeper and needed more strategy and dedication to them. In fact, in the previous generations, I remember any Pokemon I leveled up enough and had at least decent stats could win battles with no problem. (In a time I didn't even knew much about stats other than the numbers). But in Platinum, most of time I actually had to learn how to train my Pokemon, making them learn the right moves, change Pokemon from boxes a whole lot more and some other things here and there.
Man. I forgot that some people play Pokémon with the sound off. It would drive me crazy to see someone do that. It's like going to an art museum with a blindfold!
I thought "move pokemon" would be the most underrated because it was unavailable in gen 1, or the boxes automatically switching if it was full and you were catching pokemon
It's honestly these kinds of features that make me enjoy pokémon games a lot more. It's the reason why I think gens 3, 4 and 5 are the best, the other gens are great too but especially sun and moon just felt like something was missing, I probably spent more time underground in pokémon pearl than actually playing the rest of the game and things like the dreamworld in generation 5 and the pokéathlon in heartgold are just so much fun. Also generation 3 and 4 had by far the best spin-offs that we have in pokémon : all ranger games, the first poképark, the first 2 mystery dungeon games, colosseum and XD. I think I even enjoy playing those spin-offs more than the the main games. Do you like the spin-offs Ron? They also have some great music, especially the ranger and mystery dungeon games.
The most underrated thing I find is being able to use HMs just by pressing A on the object. E.g. "Taking" to a tree to cut it. That and the various bag space improvements though out the gens.
I miss my pokéwalker... battery ended up dying and I lost my shiny suicune because of it... Anyways, great video by the way! Thank you for pointing out the music in pokémon, even though I'm guilty of turning the sound off at times (Thank arceus for headphone holes in newer handhelds, rip gameboy). The music is so underappreciated, especially route themes and the little details that the composures create in these pieces like the season changes.
I agree with you 1000% I actually have the volume off when I watch a TH-cam video and play Pokémon at the same time, but when awesome music comes, I pause the video and turn up the volume!
What about that Gameboy Recorder thing in HG/SS which converts all the music into the original 8-bit music of the original games? I never see anyone talk about it very, often. It was so fun listening to the old music of each location while playing the remakes of the game.
Another feature that always people forget is gender dimorphism, now some Pokémon are a bit different depending if they are male or female, even if Game Freak don't includes so much Pokémon with that feature now.
Permanent form changes is really underrated these days and I honestly liked them better than temporary form changes, it gives something unique to a Pokemon who doesn't evolve further. I really don't like Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion for legendary Pokemon because Mega Evolution especially isn't considered unique if so many Pokemon has them. One of the many reasons I play Pokemon is the uniqueness of the Pokemon themselves. That's why I don't want any more Primal Reversion-like form because it's what makes Kyogre and Groudon unique. If I want a Pokemon to get a stronger form, I'd rather it be permanent like Giratina's Origin form or Kyurem's fused forms.
I think the reason Game Freak leaves out old features is to give you a reason to go back to old games. Like if OmegaRuby had the Battle Frontier I would never touch Emerald, or if Sun and Moon has the PWT I wouldn't play Black and White
In conjunction with Running Shoes, I praise running indoors starting in Gen 4! Made more sense than always walking and made going through the pokecenters quicker so I could get back to grinding!
love this! Wish u put music as #1 though. I am a musician- guitarist to be exact- and learning certain songs written for piano (national park GSC for ex) is amazing exercise for a guitarist. Also, music and moving picture are not meant to be separated from one another when the intentions where for them to interact especially. Certain routes/towns/battles would not have the same demeanor to them if it werent for the music... just like a movie. Glad u notice and embrace the music. Ive written countless papers of Nintendo's song writing and its definitely not something to be overlooked
One of my favorites for gen 7 is the inclusion of trainers behind the Pokémon. So many times (probably mostly distracted from watching tv or videos at the same time) and I'd forget I was in a trainer battle and try to catch it.
You're so funny! xD I love every second of your videos~ ^w^ I often watch videos while I'm drawing or doing something else, but when I watch yours, I have to put everything down and pay full attention! x3
I absolutely love DexNav; glad to see it on here! What about reusable TMs? In games prior to Gen V, I rarely ever used TMs. Some TMs can be purchased infinitely at the department store and later the Battle Frontier, too, but plenty of TMs were available once per game, never available again.
inferjay Well I Love All 3, but possibly Gen 7 slightly more, because of the fact that Pokémon's sizes are the most accurate that they've ever been. I mean, have you seen Excadrill in Gen 5, Excadrill is not that big! I mean, it might be just the fact that I'm OCD & I like things to be accurate, so, I don't know. I Love All Of Them Anyway! 😊💜💝💚
I gotta say, you hit on alll the great small things that make the recent generations so great (especially VI and VII for me!) I love that you brought up the soundtracks, too, I love the music of the Pokémon games, from Red and Blue to Sun and Moon.
Why do people get so annoyed when people say first? I don't do but I also don't see anything wrong with it...it just shows they're really dedicated subscribers and what's the problem with that? :/
Imogen Oakland I would say, at least for me, it covers a lot of the comments section of videos, & it's almost like spam, plus it's annoying because they're CLEARLY not FIRST. Oh well. \_; (•~•) ;_/
I know this may be a "shameful comment"... but... I've never played Pokémon. But, I really want to! It looks fun. Sadly I don't know where to start. Which Pokémon game should I play first?
Most people recommend "the best" or their "favorite" Pokemon game to play first, but that means you won't have even better Pokemon games to look forward to. If you aren't picky about graphics and would like to play all the Pokemon games "in order", the following would be the best way to go. I'd recommend starting with Fire red (it's the most minimal and bare bones Pokemon game) Simply fun. Then Emerald, then Platinum, then HeartGold or SoulSilver. Then Pokemon Black/White, Then Pokemon Black2/White2, then X or Y (all games before Pokemon X and Y can be played on the computer, this and the following require a 3DS) Omega Ruby of Alpha Sapphire and then Sun or Moon. If you need "modern" graphics, then X and Y should be played first. Sun and Moon is in my opinion superior, but I don't want you to play the best current game first, cause then you have less to look forward to. The problem is that all Pokemon games can be equally enjoyable if you love the franchise. So I can't guarantee that you'll love a specific Pokemon game. Each person plays video games for different reasons and each Pokemon game has different strengths. If you only have the option of playing one game, and don't have a DS or 3DS, then play Emerald. If you have a 3DS and only have money for one game, buy Pokemon Sun and Moon, although it is completely different than other Pokemon games. If you dislike Sun and Moon, there is a high chance you'll still love the other games.
Carly S I would recommend Gen 5 (black/white). this is my opinion, and I, and many others think was the best game in the series. but watch walk throughs and read reviews before you make a decision- the first game you play is the most memorable.
Truegreen7 I'd love to play in order, but aren't the older ones only available on the GameBoy? I don't have a GameBoy. I also don't have a computer, but I'll have one soon so I'm not worried about that. Right now all I have is a 3DS XL.
Carly S I'd suggest maybe gen 3 or 4 on. The way things work has changed s lot and if you play the old games quickly before it you might get confused. My personal favorite is gen 4 and you can play that. Soul silver would be a good start(cyndaquil is the best starter) or maybe diamond. Pokemon sun or moon is great for beginners. I was personally annoyed by it but for someone new to pokemkn it would be great
Truegreen, I am so happy yhat you showcase all the awesome music in Pokemon, it actually makes me sad when I hear that people play with the sound off...
thank goodness for you, my dude. i somehow just got lost in this weird part of poketube where every video's title was five variants of the same title strung together (like "Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon SHINY HUNTING How To Find The Best Shiny Pokemon in the New Pokemon Sun and Moon Games! Shiny Pokemon!" or something) and then this vid showed up in my recommended feed and i did not hesitate to click.
Reasons I love Truegreen7: He likes sceptile, His choices in lists make sense, He's funny, He likes "Avatar The Last Airbender", He's just great in general, ok?
I super agree on the music! I've been working on a playlist with my favorites and it REALLY bums me out that so many people never listen to Pokemon tunes. I'm kinda really into video game music haha
DAT OPENING/INTRO. :D And, HEY! I was part of the Facebook post that posed this question! :) Haha. Well, this was awesome. Well, ALL of Ron's videos are awesome. Hah. :D
I LOVE the underground, and seeing it return to the remakes with new additions is amazing. It isn't as underrated as others here but it still kinda is so I'm glad that this feature made it to the list
The feature I think is most underrated is the fact that the Trainer's Eye from Hoenn has various info on in-game characters, including several standout NPC's. I love it's format and the idea of Trainer's getting their own spotlight and I've even tried to create these kinds of things for older characters in the series.
Making TMs reusable is one of my favorite changes. I used to horde them, and I only used the ones you could buy again.
Dont forget the question your repel is over do you want to spray another one
A very tiny thing but nowadays its soooo much easier to walk through a cave of zubats without having to open your bag every minute
Doesnt contribute to story that much and doesnt have anything to do with the player maybe thats why . but i love gen 4 more than gen 5 lol.
I wish they brought back the feature of Pokemon following you. That was one of my most favorite things about heartgold and soulsilver
BringMeThe.Bands Ikr
Since they no longer use sprites because it's all in 3d I really don't understand why it hasn't come back
You guys got your wish! (Even if it is a little bit buggy)
People that play Pokémon with volume off don't know what they are missing.
Do they even exist? No way, music is like 50% the reason I play
We do exist and my head hurts from hearing pokemon music
Comment below if you spotted our shaking friend from my last video, in the foreground of this one. ALSO, stay tuned for next week's video; it was highly requested :)
Truegreen7 Or comment above, this thing got buried!
Truegreen7 You should have said Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, its reaaaaaaaally underrated.
Truegreen7 Could you make your top 10 creepiest pokemon fusions? pls?
poor burmy...
Truegreen7 mate what is the bgm at #8 ? really craving the song
Pokémon world tournament NEEDS to be a constant feature. They've pretty much given up on the battle frontier, so I think the tournament is the next best thing. Post games have been really lame after gen 5
LoudSoda Same here. Original gen one player.
Yeah
I loved the Dexnav! I was really sad it didn't carry over to Alola.
Dit Dot ME too
Dit Dot agreed
i love full odd shiny hunts! makes it more hype!
just get like a few gameboys and ds's and you should be fine btw with the full odd shiny hunting
i love foxes!
in my opinion the most underrated feature is auto sprint from hg/ss
it even let you run indoors!!!
Not gonna lie. I don't like not having to press the b button.
To be able just to click on the water or a stone to use a HM instead of needing to open the menu, select 'pokemon', select the pokemon who knows the HM move, select the move and finally, you were done

I was playing pokestar studios last week! But I restarted my game to run a nuzlocke
i remember how much i enjoyed playing that a few years ago
however i played it a month ago and i felt asleep, it wasnt as fun anymore :/
Yes! I spent HOURS on PokéStar Studios! One more thing to prove that BW2 are my favorite Pokémon games!
Someone once made a list of certain stuff in B2W2 and claimed that the sprites from Pokéstar Studios went ‘‘unused’’. Humph! Did not even bother.
i like how there's a couple things about Unova because it's one of the least popular regions
and Unova is my favorite!
Unova update : its the best gen now
You know what's underrated? This channel. I mean it's entertaining to watch and look at some of the editing
I think that contests are a VERY underrated feature, I adore them and love to play them but I feel like nobody talks about them, which is a shame :/
Nice video though ! :3
Blondy〈3 ^t h i s
i love contests ;w;
It seems like they brought back the gen 5 gym leaders in the form of the trial captains...they have jobs, and roles, and families. It honestly kinda sweet.
the most under rated things in pokemon are the spin off
espetialy mystery dungeon
jesus kung fu ALL HAIL LORD CHUNSOFT
marc Stuart same
jesus kung fu Eh, I've seen more people praising Mystery dungeon that any other Pokémon spin off.
jesus kung fu pokemon conquest
that one 2, of course
When the number one underrated feature nerfs your mascot Pokémon xD
:(
Truegreen7 what's your favorite starter? let me guess... Sceptile
Truegreen7 The sadness is mutual dude. Leaf blade will never be the same :(
At least you still have Energy Ball
In my opinion, loss of TPunch and Dragon Claw (to some extent) was worse
Chanderule 123 Now Sceptile only learns _dual chop_ trough levelup.
One of my favorite features ever is having any Pokemon follow you. I know it takes up a lot of memory but it's just so satisfying to have your buddies follow behind you.
When you live in a tropical location and the weather never changes ;-;
Arlene Cardona where?
endurs Dominican
when you live in Texas and never know what season it is 🙍
Arlene Cardona Ah
In San Diego, we have Allergy Summer, School-Start Summer, Slightly Cooler Summer, and Incineroar's Ballsack Summer.
I liked most of the choices, but was honestly surprised you didn't include one item on the list... color.
You know what's underrated? The ability to view stats and abilities in battle in Sun and Moon. Seriously, you can be able to keep track of stat changes and get familiarized with moves for your Pokemon.
Gen 5 is fucking amazing
No kidding!!!
Serperior 5 Yes!!
It's my first pokemon gen forever, just like snivy is my first pokemon forever.
I wish I had pokemon black 2 -_-
Serperior 5 ikr
I have pokemon black 2.It was my first game and generation and had my fav pokemon,Serperior.
Genders.
Breeding.
Shinies.
I'm getting the feeling you are one of the few who enjoy gen 5. I appreciate that.
This video was great. You really shed some light onto those underrated additions
Your inventory Bag!
The way items are stored in new generations has definitely improved a ton :D
Number one reminds me.
Gen 4 in general is where the competitive part started to become strong.
Before that, it was mostly an afterthought.
The battles became deeper and needed more strategy and dedication to them.

But in Platinum, most of time I actually had to learn how to train my Pokemon, making them learn the right moves, change Pokemon from boxes a whole lot more and some other things here and there.
It's also the Generation of Wi-Fi battling.
I totally agree on the animation part - people call me a graphics whore, but constant animations just make the Pokemon feel so much more alive!
Man. I forgot that some people play Pokémon with the sound off. It would drive me crazy to see someone do that. It's like going to an art museum with a blindfold!
I'm I the only one who really likes the phrase "red thread" when describing destiny knots?
that AJ in your name means Animal Jam right? (I love Animal Jam its my favorite game)
Omg more ppl who like Animal Jam, My main user is Datkawaiicoolness, Destikohs is my spare. Whats ur user?
Moonscaled
I thought "move pokemon" would be the most underrated because it was unavailable in gen 1, or the boxes automatically switching if it was full and you were catching pokemon
It's honestly these kinds of features that make me enjoy pokémon games a lot more. Johan Hendrik van der Meer gen 3 all the way
The most underrated thing I find is being able to use HMs just by pressing A on the object. E.g. "Taking" to a tree to cut it.

Agreed with every single entry, especially number 3! In fact I'd switch it with 1. Keep up the work, you continue to be my favorite PokeTH-camr
Abbreviations of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire = ORAS. ORAS re-arranged = SOAR. ∆
Everytime you post is a good day. Have you ever made a top 10 worst features? If not, I would wanna see that.
Another feature that always people forget is gender dimorphism, now some Pokémon are a bit different depending if they are male or female, even if Game Freak don't includes so much Pokémon with that feature now.
I love that you use gen 5 music in your videos. It's awesome how their's a Poketuber who actually loves Unova.

Nick Gamer yessir
One of my favorites for gen 7 is the inclusion of trainers behind the Pokémon. So many times (probably mostly distracted from watching tv or videos at the same time) and I'd forget I was in a trainer battle and try to catch it.
3:46 Oh God please dont remind me of that, I was so enraged with all of getting confused >~
You're so funny! xD
I love every second of your videos~ ^w^
I often watch videos while I'm drawing or doing something else, but when I watch yours, I have to put everything down and pay full attention! x3
I didn't play 1 gen first.
*GODDAMN* I was frustrated when I played it because of type effectiveness and the *lack* of running!
That physical and special split tho... truly a blessing addition to pokemon moves
What About The feature of using pokemon?
John Ozemwogie What about the feature to start the game ?
True
I absolutely love DexNav; glad to see it on here!

At 9:55 the Leavanny is called Thicc, I wonder why...
He forgot one thing...
BACKLIT SCREENS
Thought I guess that was more Nintendo game systems rather than the Pokemon games.
who else prefers the gen 5 animations then the future 6 and 7
inferjay Well I Love All 3, but possibly Gen 7 slightly more, because of the fact that Pokémon's sizes are the most accurate that they've ever been. inferjay gym favorite is gen 4 but gen 7 is a close second
I Suck Same with me.
Me
Wailord size still wrong
I thought I was the only one who appreciated the music! I love this channel!
I got a BuzzFeed ad and wanted to die
I gotta say, you hit on alll the great small things that make the recent generations so great (especially VI and VII for me!) I love that you brought up the soundtracks, too, I love the music of the Pokémon games, from Red and Blue to Sun and Moon.

Imogen Oakland i agree
Dude this is an AWESOME list. Your #1 pick is my all time favorite addition to the pokemon franchise and I agree the underground is super underated.
Who plays with the music off 😩😩!?? WHY?!!! The music is so relaxing sometimes!!
Super cool as always. Really enjoyed it!
At least it's not clickbait
The music in the games is the most important aspect for me. Just love them so much! 😍
Secret bases are not underrated...
because of the Blissey exp farm
I love the little animations the Pokèmon and trainers do! Animating the official art makes it that much better! 😍
i read this as underrated pokemon ADDICTIONS. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I'm addicted to character customization!!! XD
In all the time of my life I've spent playing pokemon, the music has always been one of my favorite features. Glad to see I'm not alone!
Running.
Fucking running
i expected it xD
I'm the same way I enjoy the music of Pokémon immensely the soundtracks from each game are absolutely amazing

I was personally annoyed by it but for someone new to pokemkn it would be great
Try Platinum, or Emerald.
Truegreen, I am so happy yhat you showcase all the awesome music in Pokemon, it actually makes me sad when I hear that people play with the sound off...
Uhhh... I'm early, let me make a joke
This is not a joke.
Team Skull Grunt wheres ya boss boy
Team Skull Grunt
Team skull is a joke
Suniti Bose Here. ;)
Man that meme is overused
That number 8 kiss of approval, made me subscribe
Pokemon sun and moon is probably my favorite pokemon game!
Apple Cider Yea platinum peral and diamond are my second favorite!
The music is literally one of the best parts of pokemon. Nothing gives me more nostalgia
No Pokémon music will ever, ever, be close to Pokémon colosseum's music. It's just a fact
Josh Mickelson lmao
Josh Mickelson Nope. Just your opinion c:
thanks for making my day Ron
My favorite underrated addition to Pokémon is women.
This is my first time hearing of this channel and I love it already after this video

Keira StormBlade exactly
thank goodness for you, my dude. i somehow just got lost in this weird part of poketube where every video's title was five variants of the same title strung together (like "Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon SHINY HUNTING How To Find The Best Shiny Pokemon in the New Pokemon Sun and Moon Games! Shiny Pokemon!" or something) and then this vid showed up in my recommended feed and i did not hesitate to click.

Reasons I love Truegreen7:
He likes sceptile,
His choices in lists make sense,
He's funny,
He likes "Avatar The Last Airbender",
He's just great in general, ok?
The PokeBlock making mini-game in Pokemon RSE. I missed it when they took it out in ORAS.
Ah! So thisbis what you were working on! I can't believe I suggested contests over seasons. I love Unova's seasons.
I super agree on the music! I've been working on a playlist with my favorites and it REALLY bums me out that so many people never listen to Pokemon tunes. I'm kinda really into video game music haha
Asking to continue using repels/Last used item are so underrated
DAT OPENING/INTRO. :D
And, HEY! I was part of the Facebook post that posed this question! :)
Haha. Well, this was awesome. Well, ALL of Ron's videos are awesome. Hah. :D
I LOVE the underground, and seeing it return to the remakes with new additions is amazing. It isn't as underrated as others here but it still kinda is so I'm glad that this feature made it to the list
The most underrarted thing is...truegreen7!! how can't you leave a like on these videos
The feature I think is most underrated is the fact that the Trainer's Eye from Hoenn has various info on in-game characters, including several standout NPC's. I love it's format and the idea of Trainer's getting their own spotlight and I've even tried to create these kinds of things for older characters in the series.
