@@x-perimentalthoughts Best way to break that cycle is to save your earnings and work toward purchasing assets that you can use to help you earn more money.
This is how I've thought recently. As a Senior in high school I'm being pressured to go to college so I can get a job to make money to spend on things I don't need or want. I'll spend my whole life working a job I don't like just so I can look forward to retirement. I think that is ridiculous but I don't know what to do
@@paullucas7504 B R O I am literally a 17 year old senior in high school, dude. Fam, I've been learning so much in the past 7 months from doing so many areas of my life, academic & miscellaneous. But bro, there's so many things I thing could help the both of us. For instance, there are definitely ways of making money that you'll literally *only* spend on things you want & the money that you save *still* eventually compounds in interest until you're 30 or almost 30 and you now have 6 digits just to spend on a car alone.
I work for Amazon, I stow items into shelves all day but I try to find a way to expand my consciousness while I do this. Even if I just use the time to repeat an affirmation, or sometimes I’ll send love and light to whoever receives the item I stow, anything to make myself a better person while I work a temporary job to get me to my next step in life. ❤️
I use to work 7 days a week, 12 hour days, I couldn’t do it physically anymore as I was resting to only go back again. I decided to resign, and apply for a criminology diploma program. I signed up for 4 college courses and am managing my own time now. Everything is online and I do all my exams at home. I am still learning time management!
Sorry... clarifying, I meant work as in home work for my classes, I use to be a supervisor for a processing plant. 5 years travelling 60km, making my days more like 16 hours, it was time for a positive change
I'm shocked at how much you've gotten better at this in two years. Idk if you remember but we chatted for a bit two years ago when I first started my youtube channel. You have excelled so quickly!
@@Spinstormgaming lol it's all good I was just wondering if he remembers that. He reached out and asked me to do a video but at the time I was not very serious about my youtube game 🥺, However, I sincerely congratulate him on the work and the passion he has.
I never understood why time is more important than process or reaching goals to some people. I would get an assignment, say to finish 5 pages in a math book in school. I'd do that, having completed it way before the class had ended, and I'd be so exited to finally get some time to do whatever I wanted. Maybe draw or read or something else. But when my teacher saw that I had finished, she just said "ok, you have time for 5 more pages." and I was like, wait why do I have to do more math, just because I did a good job and was quicker than the others? Needless to say, I learned to never be productive and I became a slacker. Whereas now that I'm working on the side with my own business, I am so productive and creative and reach my goals. I can do an 8 hours, non stop work day if I feel like it, and finish everything I have to do in a week, in a day. Not having to live by a clock, is my goal. Loved this video! :D
Unfortunately, when you're broke, your passion is to have a roof and food. But, when you can find a 40h/week job, at least you can invest the next 10 to 20 hours in your vocation. It won't be easy, but you will be able to follow your passion after some time doing this.
You remind me about Joe Rogan's idea "fuck da money". As an unemployed who has different passions and projects, I cannot think about my passions until I start to work again. For instance: I want to write a book, start a TH-cam channel and work on my songs, but the most important thing: i don't want to make my projects for living. That's one of the worst problems of nowadays with all sorts of content creators, they want to share everything, the algorithm wants them to post content all the time and the audience is always asking for more -> this happens to pretty much everything, music, writers, vloggers, podcasters, comedians, all types of artists. I was having dinner while watching this video and I thought, maybe it would be better having a 6 hour shift or perhaps working 3 or 4 hours everyday. But thinking more deeply, I am not sure if humans will need a job in the future because of automation of pretty much everything. I've been watching The Expanse and it has some time I saw CGP Grey's video about "Humans May Not Apply" (something like this), and I really wonder when this future will arrive.
@@daniloluizgrunge wow! what a well thought out comment. I feel like the average person doesn't even consider alternative options to the 9-5. I'm one of the only people at my work that intentionally stepped down to a part time position. Obviously, I have to be extremely careful with my finances now. But eventually I want to get to the point where I'm living for my work, rather than working for a living. In the meantime, I'm super happy with the extra time I have to spend on videography and other creative outlets. We'll see what the future holds brotha!
I tried this with my employees... and the quality of work was garbage... and they really just wanted a paycheck. It takes a mix of responsible management and responsible employees.
Good point. Employees who are motivated by the paycheck only will not increase their productivity when given more time off, they'll more likely just... enjoy their extra time off. I don't know anything about your company or whatever kind of workplace it is you run, but I still gotta ask: how did it come to be this way? Why are you hiring people who are there for the paycheck, instead of people who actually want to be there? Do you believe that it's even possible for someone to actually want to do that job, no matter the paycheck? Or do you believe the work your employees have to do is so horrible that they have to be motivated by a paycheck, otherwise nobody would be willing to do it? And how come these people chose to apply for a job they didn't really want? Are they that desperate for a paycheck? Is there anything you can do to turn that around? Is there anything you can do to make the work more enjoyable so people might get more reasons to show up besides the paycheck? Could they be supported in some way so they don't have to depend on their paycheck?
@@howtohuman99 "Why are you hiring people who are there for the paycheck" They make up 90% of the workforce. It's incredibly rare to find people who are actually motivated to work, and those people tend not to apply for low skill, low pay jobs. They know their worth, and only apply for the good stuff. So the rest of the open jobs, only get applications for unskilled or unmotivated people. "how come these people chose to apply for a job they didn't really want?" Bills have to be paid. Lots of people will do all kinds of shitty work if it pays the bills. They don't like it, they won't work hard at it, but your mortgage won't pay for itself.
What is this? I remember watching your channel a year ago maybe even more and oh my the quality has absolutely exploded! You moved from making videos about amazing things I have loved to listen to from time to time, to making videos I want to get lost in and binge for hours! There goes your well earned bell, keep up the amazing work.
I'm convinced that we'll have 4-day work weeks one day. Even though now the mantra seems to be the more the better. Digitalization has to be good for something. And btw, there are already companies that implemented that successfully.
Some of the more prestigious companies in my area allow 10 hours a day 4 days a week, or work an extra hour each day for every other Friday off. They're slowly transforming
Who’s gonna take care of all the old people? Nurses are working 12 hour shifts and there is not enough help. And no shortage of old people. So what do you mean 4 hours a day? No facility is gonna have 6 nurses come in just to cover a 24 hour period. And that’s just for one section/assignment.
This is true. I worked for a few years for an outdoor recreation gear store. I love the outdoors and love talking about it with people, so working there with coworkers who all shared my interests felt like play. Yes I did work 40 hours a week because let's be real it's retail and they'll never understand that people need lives...but my work hours were actually something I looked forward to most of the time.
The weird thing is that every time you post a new video I almost feel like it was made specifically for me. I'm experiencing this right now. It's funny how the things I used to hate doing in a job, like sales and prescriptive copywriting, and all the stuff that used to make me want to slit my wrists sudde ly becomes a pleasure when you're doing it in alignment with your own personal goal. everyday I write my journal and my goal is exactly what you outlined in this video. I want to live in abundant life, doing only what I love and what I'm passionate about. And when you're passionate about something, you'll even do the boring drudgery to further that goal. Anyway, amazing video, and now I'm off to comment on someone else's comment.
I Love this... I was doing so well with zero procrastination and I saw a great improvement in my grades (Thanks to your videos). But then I thought maybe I should use a daily schedule to optimise my productivity. I had planned every hour of my day. And the result was that I felt so demotivated to do my work. So I am now going back to doing whatever task I want to do whenever I want to do it.
Unfortunately, I believe alot of people will never be able to achieve the 0 hour work week because (at least in my experience/opinion) there are to many companies out there that are more focused on having the cheapest labor possible making it to where even though I work 40 hours a week at 1 job, I still need a second & 3rd job and a hussle just so I don't have to live paycheck to paycheck and am able to try and save a buck here and there. I've been searching for years to find a "job" that I enjoy. Havent found one yet and I have literally held over 100 jobs in all sorts of positions ranging from construction labor to office management. In order to have change and for everyone to live a more fulfilling life I think there needs to be change at the top first. I think alot of these types of videos are aimed at "Professional" types and not the people who actually make the world go round. Other than that, I love your videos brother. You're always an inspiration, keep up the good work.
If I could give an advice, I would say try to live with just your primary job for at least one year, and let go of your 2nd and 3rd jobs. That way you will have more time left in a day. Try to use that time to build a highly valuable skill set. I can't suggest a specific one because it totally depends on you and your interests. For time sake, lets say programming. Now if you can put in 2 hrs a day to learn programming, in one year you will have developed a highly valuable and competitive skill set. This will put you in a position where you could earn 2x or 3x the salary that you are earning now. The goal here is to focus on just one skill set and keep on improving that. Hope this helps. Thanks :)
@Chris G If you think I wouldnt have work if there weren't professionals then you have issues. Blue collar workers are the life blood of everything you see. And who says I slacked in school? I have a college education I just refuse to let anyone talk down to me.
@@thomasterance98 I understand what you're saying but for alot of people if they stop working a 2nd or 3rd job that means some bills aren't getting paid so it's not that simple. Also I am working on building a skill set but not programming. That industry is way over saturated and the hours that those companies expect you to put in is definitely not a 0 hour week. Lol. You would become a slave to a system. No in my opinion the best way to go is to start your own business.
@@thomasterance98 also a professional education is over rated. 10 months of wielding school and then 3 years of work experience and I'll make the same as my girlfriend who's spending what seems like 10 years in med school to be a vet. Just a random observation.
@Chris G I'm pretty sure I didnt bash white collar jobs. Obviously you think white collar is better and that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But think about this. If every blue collar person took a month off of work then what would happen? Your offices wouldnt get cleaned. No homes would be built. No restuarants, grocery stores, gas stations, would be open Etc etc. Your car broke down? Tough all the mechanics are on vacation so take the bus or a taxi... oh you cant cause they are on vacation too. You're quick to be confrontational and assume someone is in a shitty spot in life because of their own choices. Im actually quite happy with my life because I have the power of "Fuck off". What does that mean? It means I'm able to do what I want when I want without fear of repercussions. (Within the scope of the law) It's how I've been able to spend months abroad and travel all over. And guess what? When I come back I can have a job making the same amount of money I had before I left within a week. No 4-6 week interviews or any of that crap. You need to humble yourself and think about the whole picture brother. Theres more to life than a career and a paycheck. I'm extremely "rich" just not in the way most people think of when the word "rich" is used.
I work over 240+ hours a month... Been doing that for almost 3 damn years... Luckily I have come to the realisation pretty early on, that I'm just slaving away to make someone else richer while I just live paycheck to paycheck. I'm 23 at the moment and working these long hours ALMOST became the norm to me. I felt stuck but now I'm branching out and starting my photography business full time... I'm pretty good at what I do even if I have to say so myself. Thank you for motivating me and now I know that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it!
keep it up! You'll slowly replace working for someone else with your own passions! Extract all the value possible from your current employment that you can.
You're living above your means. Get a cheap apartment, invest a set amount in s&p 500 every month, schedule your time and record your thoughts and you will be happier and richer over years.
This is the sort of angle we need to begin to look at within our own lives. Some things can seem out of our control but changing perspective on the matters present to a state were you can find passion in everything you do will give you the fulfilment in life you're looking for. Loose distractions, utilise work time and remember you always have choice. Always great videos Andrew
Very well said - again! This is just what I did 1 year ago - quit a highly payed 9-5 (actually 8-6) absolutely unsatisfying job and start my own business with micro watch brands. Now, I do much more than before but it doesn't feel like work as every click I make, every person I contact and every satisfied customer brings me closer to my goal. And this success is incredibly satisfying. Go for it gals and guys! Have a goal and believe in you! And don't be afraid of failing!
I recommend this: when you’re working, if you’re doing something that doesn’t involve your phone, silence it/put it on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode, make sure you’re as fed and well-rested as you can be, and doing a couple of deep breaths while being aware of your body (as a means to meditate and clear your mind) before starting the task. Hope that helps!
Plenty of companies in the UK that will happily give you a zero hour work week. Asda, McDonalds, etc. The trouble is, they often times won't give you the hours when you want them. There are probably less than one percent of companies that would allow the flexibility that you're providing, so most people would have to become self employed to have the possibility to achieve this.
Im a programmer and the saying if you love what you do you never work a day in your life is so true. Now with remote working i can do what i want all das long as long as the code is done. Its amazing
The responsibility has to be paired with some sort of reward though! Without it, there is no incentive. We can see that everywhere where we have free markets. Remove the "bounty" for achievement, and there will be much less of it, regardless of responsibility.
It's like working at uni. Every student has the same deadline but they choose their own schedule. Which actually involves developing time management skills but definitely worth it
Amazing. I feel this way all the time. Something that I’m struggling with right now is leaving my 9-5 in order to do my clothing brand. I’ve always felt this urge to create something bigger in the world. I’m still very young but I’ve always felt as if I don’t fit in into the “matrix” the way that things have been getting done are not for me
Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel one tiny stroke at a time, but the vision was there from the beginning, guiding every one. Sounds like you know what you want, but what do you fear? Many of our worst fears are what they are because we inflate them rather than breaking them down. I genuinely envy you a little if you are so young and know what you want. Make a plan, get started, step back, and review what you learned. If it seems like too big a step, find a smaller one. Instead of asking yourself whether you can, ask everyone HOW you can. The "Matrix" is not something anyone healthy really wants, but rather what they settle for out of fear. Call your shot and take a leap. If you can see it, you can do it. Good luck!
Try to use actually sustainable materials please, there is too many clothes brands that are just: "its designed a little bit different from 1500+ other brands so its unique"
Everything in this video is so compelling. If only all employers and leaders thought this way, we would live in a much happier world. I am saving this video in the hopes of achieving it as a self-starter and maybe as a leader one day. Thank you Andrew!
I'm going to do what Andrew said and state my current plans towards achieving a zero hour work week. I'm in IT, information security specifically and I've always been fascinated about computers and especially how they work under the hood. I've found reverse engineering, really deep dive to computer bits and bytes to have practical scope for landing a job in these days of constant cyber attacks and malware infestation. I'm looking forward to a really technical Malware Analysis profile, I in fact have a interview scheduled this Thursday that I worked quite hard for, and I wish this will be one step closer to being in that blissful state where you basically really love what you do on a daily basis and actually get paid for it, the manifestation of a zero hour work week.
I just wanted to say to you good people I landed the job. It'll pay handsomely and is almost the perfect profile that I'm looking for. Obviously I worked my ass off for it but I truly can't believe I can be this fortunate. I wish you guys all the world's luck in your journeys too.
I work hard because I want to make impactful and valuable videos/content like Andrew Kirby! I refuse to work hard just for the sake of working hard! All work and no GOALS makes JACK a dull boy. . . Fantastic video here!
I always try to rationalize my anxiety to calm down and realize that there is no reason to be anxious sometimes. Sometimes anxiety helps me though. If we had no anxiety we would be way too laid back. It helps me to not procrastinate. It's all about what anxiety you think is irrational.
I have anxiety. What I typically do is ask myself a series of questions (when I am acutely suffering). It depends on the task/situation, but I ask myself questions like I'm taking a lie detector test and like I am the person evaluating my answers. Simple yes and no questions to focus on the present so I cannot obsess about something that may/may NOT occur in the future. Hope this helps!
This video is something new. Its mind blowing. im saving it for later in few years when i start my own shit. When you have a whole team that wants to succeed, failure is not an option
Corona home-working already shifts my time spending: my boss only checks my progress, so I can reduce my working hours in order to get more results. E.g. by regularly short meditations. Excellent video!
It’s called “Dharma”. Something ancient cultures always understood. Industrialization created an ever increasing obsession with quantification, and everyone statutes counting hours, then minuets, and finally seconds. Have you tried reading Bertrand Russell’s “In Praise of Idleness”
I am retired from the military and I struggled after looking for a job that I would love and not feel like a job. Well I’ve decided to start my own business. Im not struggling with this particular issue anymore but I really enjoyed this perspective and am using it to think long term for my company as well. Since by next year I’ll need to hire someone. Thank you, believed. You have great content and delivery. 🙏♾💜✨
15.23mins video is mind blowing! It changed instantly and now I am going to self reflect and take necessary action. Thank you Andrew, you are a gem! ❤🙏 grateful❤
I recall that Henry Ford also introduced the 3-shift working pattern, each working 8 hours. It was easier to organise and maintain 3 x 8 hour shifts than 2 x 12 hour shifts, and better for employees who also were given a pay rise despite fewer hours overall. He was a forward thinker for sure and not a computer in sight!
This is appliable in certain professions, but I'm talking from my own view. I'm an electrical engineer and I was leading a team of electricians on a construction site. We were building a large transformer station. The thing that bugged me was that we were working so much (10 hour workdays, 7 days a week), but when we sometimes worked less, we achieved even more. I noticed that most of the time, workers were making small breaks, smoking cigars all the time, leaving the tools randomly on site and so on. In a way, you need to work to get stuff done. There are no shortcuts, especially in construction business, but otherwise, one should always seek to improve and to be more organised while getting more done in less time.
oh shit this turned out to be one of your greatest videos I really enjoy your research + speculation about the future. I think you're on to something. Good luck with your business if your employees are watching the same videos you're watching you'll do great things with them
Spot on, this is what I've always thought about the standard 9 to 5. I continuously struggle to fit myself into that bracket for sake of "work & productivity". It has always felt so foreign. Great stuff!
I agree on all of this. I love your videos. I view this theory of time for money in all aspects of life, not just work. What I mean is, I hate the repetitive tasks of cooking from scratch daily, cleaning and tidying on repeat. The boring daily stuff we all do. I could be more productive in my business if these things were completed by someone else. They can tire you out at times, leaving less time for business productivity. Whilst I love your idea of paying a cleaner and hiring a chef or ordering pre-set meals to cook, it’s having the money in the first instance to do this. You’d have to be at a certain earning level before you could feasibly afford this. I am always thinking of ways to work smarter. I do create hacks for myself. I wish I’d have known these things 20 years ago though!
I have been fortunate to follow a career that helps people recover from injury. I have moved it a step further and have started my own company. Not all the work is fun but my vision is worth it.
Process-oriented has important advantages as well. It is easy to procrastinate without adhering to a fixed routine. Furthermore, more often than not, just starting to work on something will provide enough motivation to keep going. Perhaps the ideal approach could be some combination of the two.
@@miketaiwanwalkcity6355 Could you elaborate? In that video he made an argument against working aimlessly (goal oriented) and also quoted "The score will take care of itself" (process oriented).
Andrew, I saw the Netflix series “the Playbook” where Doc Rivers talks about his rules and the special one is Ubuntu. I think it would be very helpful if you make a video about to share to this people who want to improve.
Oooh, Ubuntu. Zulu for "I am because you are." I've always really dug his concept, because it seems to align perfectly with quantum physics. Nothing exists unless it's observed. Maybe we only exist because we're observed by other people, yet at the same time we can live intentionally and become whoever it is we truly have the potential to be. I'd love to see what Andrew did with this concept.
Thank you big brother , I can just thank you for giving me answer that I was seeking for since years . thank you , your every videos give something new thank u
Outstanding video and interesting concept. As an entrepreneur, establishing a clear vision and soaking tour team with empowered enthusiasm is key. Great insight!
I don’t like how I’m stuck in front of TH-cam sometimes.. in somewhat of a zombie state and regret all of the hours I could have spent perfecting my craft instead of watching garbage

I'm just lost and not sure what to pursue, I graduated with a computer engineering degree but i really hate coding. Been spending my time in covid learning about investing and trading and had success with alternative investing but dislike the methods of traditional finance. So all I see left is to work unskilled jobs with no career path while working on my hobbies of drawing and playing music , but not sure how that can lead to anything.
Here’s my advice. Since you know you have a passion for creative activity art and music (very right brained activity) and dislike coding (very left brain activity) it’s recommend a career where you can use your tech skills in a creative way. Like web design or animation etc.
Hear me out, I doubt you hate coding. To put it simply, if you wish to have a pool in your backyard to enjoy for years, the installation procrss requires work. Furthermore, pools require maintaince. Coding is really the same way, but the nature of the labor is different. I think of it this way, given the circumstance of SUCH a useful tool under your belt: if you do it well, and you do it towards your own goal, you will be capable of creating a product you will reap great benifits from with lesser maintenance than what was required at install. Write a program that solves a problem for people with a willingness to pay, and make sure you are in direct line for a worth while portion of that revenue. Say its not your idea, but a friends-- partner with them if they have drive-- or perhaps they wont take action toward it and give you the green light. It takes time, putting your intentions towards getting an idea worth while, but there is opperotunity for you somewhere if you are patient and persistant. In the meantime... maybe you want a job as a barista? Trader joes maybe? A good attitude and enough focus & energy to finish a task / day's work is key to success! But... you wont reach greater hights if you dont take things into your own hands eventually. Employers don't plan to make you rich or happy.
Hey! I was on track to becoming a physician assistant, but it wasn't because I myself wanted to. My true passion lies in creating, whether that is in art, photography, business, whatever. It took me time to figure out what really drives me and makes me happy, but I'm glad that I did. Now, I am working on building up my creative ventures alongside earning my degree. I'm briefly telling you my background, as I would suggest for you to try something similar. If you're not sure what to pursue, try different things! Art, music, podcasting, graphic design, basket weaving, marketing, esports, anything! See what makes you happy and drives you each day. Honestly, you just need to figure out yourself first and then go from there. Hope this helps :)
I'm in the exact same boat, except for playing music.. instead of trading I started to learn about ecommerce and started a shop. The shop didn't go well and now I'm slightly burned out and back to not knowing what to do in life. However, having a CS or Comuper Engineering degree has a big value! The IT field is very extensive and eventually you'll find what you like by combining the IT skills with something you enjoy. At least that's what I'm trying to do(without success yet tho, but at least it sounds like a logical thing to do).
I’ve wanted to make an Uber for food service workers. You want to work pick up your phone and look at an app to find out what restaurants need workers. Sure it would struggle in the beginning, but requiring people to be certified at restaurants or a mandatory 1 day a week so that restaurants can make sure they have a staff and are trained. However I think with enough people you could have enough desire and availability to work when you want and never have to work. Love this video man. I also have a cool idea for real estate and repairs. There is so much room to scrap wasted hours.
Ok Andrew, props. Your production quality and quality of video has really elevated lately. Keep up the good work man, I'm loving what you're putting out.
You should read "Reinventing organisations" by Frederic Laloux. This book inspired me to make a change in the world of work. It's like a few steps ahead of just 0-hours work week. Really inspirational.
We have a company here in Bielefeld, Germany called Digital Enabler. The CEO Lasse Rheingans started the experiment of the 5 Hour workday 2 years from now and still holds on to it
I worked for a large company/industry recently, normal 8 hour workday. We had ~1h lunch and 2x 15min breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The thing was that it often got to be ~30min breaks, since the boss liked to talk and mix in meetings with the break. So we really had about 1.5-2h of "break" every day, and really only productive work for 6 hours, and in reality between socializing with co-workers and bathroom breaks, it was probably even less than that. The problem is that feels like a lot of wasted time imo. Now, instead of being at the workplace for 8 hours, including the hour drive everyday (being away from home about 9-10 hours), I would much rather work from home or being able to live very close to my workplace, and be hyper efficient at work but be there the least amount of time possible. My dream scenario would be something like this: Work Monday->Friday, about 6 hours a day, but in different hours. Get up at 5:30-5:45, take a shower, get some water and get ready for the day. Then work 06-08:00, take a 15-30min break, work another 2hours, take a 15-30min break and then work another 2 hours before eating lunch. Now, depending on if you take 15 or 30min breaks, your workday will officially be over 12:30-13:00. That leaves you with about 8-9hours of free-time everyday. You could also end your workday early at 12-12:30 (meaning you work 5½ or only 5 hours), and then put that last halfhour/hour in the end of the day, to prepare for the next day. I also would like to try the method that CGP Grey thanks about in his video "Weekend Wednesday", where you are off Wednesday and Sunday, so you only work 2-3 days in a row and there is always a break near.
i dont like working 9 to 5. I simply only work 9-4 and my employee doesnt notice the 1 hour im on this channel trying to change myself into a shape i want to become. I am an electrician and I work 10 hours a day. I enjoy doing the wires but the time constrains are killing me. I can see myself taking up contracts for specific jobs from clients but I dont have the experience for it yet, so my own plan was to stay at the job I am right now, gain that experience and move on to something more output focused. I would love to hear your guys' opinion on it and is it in line with the vision of the 0 hour work week ^^
I'd say it aligns well. As long as you are doing it with intention. If you truly care about wiring and giving people electricity, then keep doing it. Is it meaningful to you?
I'd say you are on the right path. Start slowly figuring out how the transition will happen, what will you need for that? May be its hiring other less experienced electricians, maybe it involves getting an LLC, may be there are other steps needed for you to work on output focused projects. It is unclarity that may slow you down once you get the experience needed, so get rid of it before you get to the transition part.

Currently unemployed but I've been doing freelance Broadcaster hosting work. I despise doing the production side but I love the on air portion of the work
I havent watched the full video yet, But I want to say 2 things: 1. You are right, 9-5 isn't close to be the best way to enhance productivity, quite the opposite. 2. Yet, if you tell the worker they will work less, and depends if it's a hourly salary job, they might think it's not worth the money
I agree with this idea. It’s about getting the right people to partner with you on any given project or who aligns with a company..... however I question how this will work with say benefits and health insurance as the 40 hours is a key structure to providing those benefits to employees.
Without noticing this I was actually doing if from a long time. I always took a day off from my school a week and sometimes I was absent for more than 10 days a month but inspite of that i scored better than those who were attending every class.
andrew the young seneca of our age. keep the motivational videos coming my friend. but one of the most important things is that you enjoy your everyday journey and also take breakes. have a good 1 everybody
'According to time theory, an employee is paid by the amount of value they add, not by how many hours they work.' Problem is, it is never objective. There is no limit to 'higher value'. Therefore your boss can give you endless amount of work in the name of demanding value adding; the work you once loved, will soon become the cause of your stress, even death.
I'm fine at being productive when it's at my job, but when it comes to doing class assignments I know will take me a while, I just feel so intimidated by the thought of doing it. I also have trouble practicing flute because I get frustrated and discouraged whenever I can't get something right.
I find it difficult to sit through something for long periods of time, especially if I'm not doing anything with my body (just listening) unless I'm focused. So it could be a lack of movement/engagement? I'm still trying to figure out what exactly takes away from my interest. [Example: I can clean for 1 hour without break but I can't spend that much time answering questions on my devices without getting tired of it]
Your movement is your motivation. Without movement you lack motivation. Is there anyway to take the new information with you? Have a conference or call while going for brisk walk, or while cleaning if it is a quiet activity. My mind disengages if I do not value the information I am receiving. Find what makes you contented/happy and incorporate as much of that in your life as you possibly can. I wish you good fortune on your journey.
Maybe try sitting on a yoga ball or something when doing work on a device. Or try a standing desk and stand on a balance ball (can be risky as you could lose balance and fall over, so it's best if you move any furniture around you). But anyway, those two methods, especially the second one, can help you achieve your focus and your body is constantly trying to balance itself.
I have been doing this for the past several years. With myself and those who work for me. No one clocks in or out. We have tasks we know need to be done. I just came off a 30 day holiday and it made me realize I could have stayed away longer. Each day I completed work for clients by 10 or 11 and then the rest of the day was mine. It is very possible..

@@AndrewKirbys Hey mate, it's going good! Shocked you found my comment...
The 9-5 works great for a lot of people. But for the rest of us, I think following your passion is always better than following money.
Unfortunately, when you're broke, your passion is to have a roof and food. But, when you can find a 40h/week job, at least you can invest the next 10 to 20 hours in your vocation. It won't be easy, but you will be able to follow your passion after some time doing this.
@@vsalbuq honestly I've been thinking of going homeless again to follow my passion. Sucks that's almost the fact of the choice

I agree. I think this works if the job is an centered around creativity. If I am managing a restaurant this does not apply.
@@howtohuman99 "Why are you hiring people who are there for the paycheck"
They make up 90% of the workforce. It's incredibly rare to find people who are actually motivated to work, and those people tend not to apply for low skill, low pay jobs. They know their worth, and only apply for the good stuff. So the rest of the open jobs, only get applications for unskilled or unmotivated people.
"how come these people chose to apply for a job they didn't really want?"
Bills have to be paid. Lots of people will do all kinds of shitty work if it pays the bills. They don't like it, they won't work hard at it, but your mortgage won't pay for itself.

There goes your well earned bell, keep up the amazing work.
I'm convinced that we'll have 4-day work weeks one day. Even though now the mantra seems to be the more the better. Digitalization has to be good for something. And btw, there are already companies that implemented that successfully.
Im working 4 day weeks, though its on evening shifts from 14.00-23.40
Some of the more prestigious companies in my area allow 10 hours a day 4 days a week, or work an extra hour each day for every other Friday off. They're slowly transforming
Here in India we read almost every day 😫😩😫
Who’s gonna take care of all the old people? Nurses are working 12 hour shifts and there is not enough help. And no shortage of old people. So what do you mean 4 hours a day? No facility is gonna have 6 nurses come in just to cover a 24 hour period. And that’s just for one section/assignment.
Another epic video Andrew. Keep bringing the heat with these videos. We all need to hear this and have a good reminder. ONE LIFE
This is true.

If you earn money with something you love, it automatically feels like you've got a 0 hour work week. Aim for that peepz!

Setting your intentions is very important. I know a lot of people who work hard just to work hard with no real goal or plan set.
This is the sort of angle we need to begin to look at within our own lives. Some things can seem out of our control but changing perspective on the matters present to a state were you can find passion in everything you do will give you the fulfilment in life you're looking for.

I love this call to action. Please keep reminding people to become as full of their true selves as possible 🙌💯

The responsibility has to be paired with some sort of reward though! Without it, there is no incentive. We can see that everywhere where we have free markets. Remove the "bounty" for achievement, and there will be much less of it, regardless of responsibility.
Ameer I very interesting
Is that true? I don't know.
Yes, you work to outcomes.. *this* project needs doing by *this* deadline... go do. As long as the project is done, the hours are less important.

Good luck!

Yeah, goal-oriented instead of process-oriented!
Process-oriented has important advantages as well. It is easy to procrastinate without adhering to a fixed routine. Furthermore, more often than not, just starting to work on something will provide enough motivation to keep going. Perhaps the ideal approach could be some combination of the two.
His other video say the opposite th-cam.com/video/GMyOw6f7KDk/w-d-xo.html
@@miketaiwanwalkcity6355 Could you elaborate? In that video he made an argument against working aimlessly (goal oriented) and also quoted "The score will take care of itself" (process oriented).
Embrace the process not the end result
I personally want to constantly be focusing on working hard on something I love doing. I think we have a similar mindset, value > time spent.
Thank you my friend. Such thought provoking and consistent content as always !
@Kevin w I use Arch btw.
Thank you big brother , I can just thank you for giving me answer that I was seeking for since years . thank you , your every videos give something new thank u
Your explanation is simply the best!👍🏻
Outstanding video and interesting concept. As an entrepreneur, establishing a clear vision and soaking tour team with empowered enthusiasm is key. Great insight!
I don’t like how I’m stuck in front of TH-cam sometimes.. in somewhat of a zombie state and regret all of the hours I could have spent perfecting my craft instead of watching garbage
If youre spending all of that on pc well just lock up your current one on safe or storage room and buy the slowest intel atom laptops they cheap and by using them daily it'll gradually discouraged you from doing that habits same goes with phone hope this help
Get 2 screens if you work on computer. Much easier and helps me focus more actually.
You. Are. Amazing.
Such thought provoking stuff! Keep going man!
Thanks! It's all about thinking about output.
You should read "Reinventing organisations" by Frederic Laloux. This book inspired me to make a change in the world of work. It's like a few steps ahead of just 0-hours work week. Really inspirational.
We have a company here in Bielefeld, Germany called Digital Enabler. The CEO Lasse Rheingans started the experiment of the 5 Hour workday 2 years from now and still holds on to it
Thank you for the video. I am trying to believe in myself and make my own way. I find your content informative and useful.
Book recommendation: "Bullshit Jobs" by David Graeber, on why we work more and not less despite technological progress
Thank Man.♥
Another recommendation: "The 4-hour Workweek" by Tim Ferris!

Thanks Andrew your work change my life and prespective :)
I also would like to try the method
that CGP Grey
thanks about in his video "Weekend Wednesday", where you are off Wednesday and Sunday, so you only work 2-3 days in a row and there is always a break near.
i dont like working 9 to 5. I simply only work 9-4 and my employee doesnt notice the 1 hour im on this channel trying to change myself into a shape i want to become. I will search for a passion to find a job that i really like and than i will quit my current job. I dont care if im not beeing productive there, because i am productive in terms of making progress. Thank You all!
Amazing! Never thought I'd be finish watching this video!
The only thing that keeps me from a 0 hour work week is all the social media side of things that comes with being an artist xD
I’m in college now I was never good in school k-12 grade I wasn’t even gonna go to college but my aunt did everything and set me up to go. Now with online school I get to do it whenever I want plus my main career of an mma fighter I go to the gym honestly mostly when I feel like it fighting/ and bodybuilding. I’m more productive now then I ever was and I feel great. I feel good about my work I come home and I still do stuff I don’t even think about it. Just thought this can help as a trial thank you for the video
Work smart achieve your goals!!
Brilliant video again Andrew! your so articulate and likeable
Smart intellect people are such a turn on. Subscribed.
@@SantanaBanana47 Its not exactly about the message but the work itself, but yeah I take satisfaction from it
@@medved0987 I have a few plans already, going directly to clinets to do wires on top of many other things in their private houses was one of them or moving on to a power plant or maybe an oil rig later one, I am only 20 so I still have time to think about these things and I do pretty much every week so its not like I am stuck, my dad helps me a lot but thank you
Hello I would suggest you familiarize yourself with the pareto principle. That way you can identify what part of your work gets you the most results (outputs) and start removing or save time by optimizing your work hours
Currently unemployed but I've been doing freelance Broadcaster hosting work. I despise doing the production side but I love the on air portion of the work
I havent watched the full video yet, But I want to say 2 things:
1. You are right, 9-5 isn't close to be the best way to enhance productivity, quite the opposite.
2. Yet, if you tell the worker they will work less, and depends if it's a hourly salary job, they might think it's not worth the money
Incredible videos are made by you andrew. #Respectfromthearts
I agree with this idea. It’s about getting the right people to partner with you on any given project or who aligns with a company..... however I question how this will work with say benefits and health insurance as the 40 hours is a key structure to providing those benefits to employees.
I’m so impressed by this video, just subscribed! Can’t wait to see more content. I love the idea of a 0 hour work week, 9-5 is definitely not for me.
Awesome job, Andrew! This video is everything🔥🔥🔥 Thanks a lot for what you’re doing!
Without noticing this
I was actually doing if from a long time.
I always took a day off from my school a week and sometimes I was absent for more than 10 days a month but inspite of that i scored better than those who were attending every class.
"Work with what you love and you'll never have to work again"
You have a thoughtful ideas! I appreciate your work, well done!
andrew the young seneca of our age. keep the motivational videos coming my friend. but one of the most important things is that you enjoy your everyday journey and also take breakes. have a good 1 everybody
'According to time theory, an employee is paid by the amount of value they add, not by how many hours they work.'
Problem is, it is never objective. There is no limit to 'higher value'. Therefore your boss can give you endless amount of work in the name of demanding value adding; the work you once loved, will soon become the cause of your stress, even death.
Thank you for that great information
I can't work without a boss yelling at me,
Telling me I'm running out of time and giving me deadlines.
[Example: I can clean for 1 hour without break but I can't spend that much time answering questions on my devices without getting tired of it]
Can you take breaks every 10 minutes doing a workout routine? You'll get a great body in the process
