This ends up looking worse because Ouya hardly even touted their product. The most they seemingly ever went with was "anyone can mod this small plastic cube," despite also admitting no one was ever going to bother. Overall, they probably threw it under the bus more than they boasted its nonexistent capabilities. So as it stands now, they could appear to be less dishonest in comparison.
I was pretty psyched for the Ouya but then I realized all the games found on the Android market were still pretty rubbish. I had fun with it for like a month or two before I went back to my steam library xD Best Game I found was Maldita Castilla. That was pretty great.
@@juggernogsoda4515 It's actually fairy inconsistent. some homes have amazing internet speeds, due to more modern copper cables in the house, and not being as far away form the nodes the fiber optic cables are connected to, and better still are the homes that have a direct connection to the fiber optic cables. Unfortunately, fiber of semi-fiber connections aren't available country wide so some people are reliant on ADSL still.

As someone who installs internet for a living, I knew this would never work like they advertised. Most of the US has trash internet, and will continue to have trash internet for many years to come.
Well, I want to say we're closer to it improving, but I wouldn't count on anything absurd for another decade. Technology has been moving significantly faster over the past half-decade.
You call your internet trash yet it's an absolute paradise for me. Here in Germany you're already happy having anything over 3 megaBYTES per second. Meanwhile in the US it seems like you always have way more than that literally anywhere.
@@RyosukeTakahashiRX7 speed is great and all, but there's also reliability to take into factor. The UK has an average internet speed of 46Mb/s (just over 5MB/s) but as far as I've experienced, my internet constantly slows and more often than not has high latency. I'm sure that Americans have the same issue too, considering that a fairly large portion of Americans are still using DSL internet instead of fibre.
everytime i come back to the us from my summer break visiting my family back in south korea, the biggest thing that annoys me is the internet. watching youtube and playing games is usually fine but downloading big files like movies and games that would literally take less than a minute in korea takes several minutes or even an hr over here

I think it's the side effect of Google making so much money that they can dump a lot of it into all these massive pet projects and tolerate a high failure rate.
So, when they drop this thing, is the controller Bluetooth for use with a PC? Better yet, can you use it with Switch (since it looks like the pro controller)?
List of advantages: •No downloads needed •Fairly easy to set up •Stylish List of problems: •No unique features for controller •Extremely long input lag •Requires hardware •Full quality requires extra fee •Many features delayed to 2020 •Only supports Pixel smartphones •Missing hardware •Requires launch codes, which were sometimes not received •Random framerate drops •Random resolution drops •Unable to guarantee good experience •Lower quality •Phil Harrison says that all games support 4K, but some only support 1080p •Much smaller library selection •Requires an internet connection to play
@Adoki You're right. You nailed it. Cloud-based gaming, but you download the game and play it locally and don't need a stable internet connection once the game is installed. Yeah, it still requires a capable PC, but what's the point of playing demanding games on an old potato?
Google went so far with stadia actually thinking its gonna be successful that in youtube in the trending/explore tab they put a stadia controller in the gaming tab

The input lag the guy had in the demo was very little compared to what everyone else faced. My guess is they had the demo near the data centre so it wouldnt be quite so bad.
Somehow Google managed to have worse marketing for the Stadia than Nintendo had for the Wii U. I applaud Google for that. That is really hard to pull off.
@@weegeewegee639 The marketing was absolutely awful though. They could have given it a different name like the "Super Wii," but instead they gave it a name that was too similar to the original Wii (which had a peripheral called the U draw). The unfortunate thing is that (IIRC) false advertising as written in US law is intended to deceive a REASONABLE consumer. “Reasonable” is very squishy language, and so what advertisers did was keep pushing and pushing on BS and fibbing until the public was like, “yeah, don’t believe what advertisements say.” Now advertisers can point to that and say, “See? People know to take our advertisements with a grain of salt. They know not to believe us. That’s what a reasonable consumer looks like. So, if someone does get tricked by our advertisements into thinking we’re selling something that we aren’t, they’re not reasonable consumers. They’re outliers; they’re too stupid. Therefore, it isn’t false advertising.” Yeah, if you tried that logic anywhere outside a US court of law, you’d be laughed out of the room. It’s basically flat-out admitting that you’re lying, but because of some logical loopholes, you somehow aren’t lying.
Nintendo: the older, kinder brother who is humble and kind towards nearly everyone Sony: the second oldest, snobby and competitive, always picks fights with Nintendo Microsoft: the third oldest brother, just “exists” in the background, sometimes partners up with Sony and Nintendo Google: the youngest brother, snobby, overconfident, the newest addition to the Console family, terrible at doing anything, claims he’s the best but is always shot down my the older three
That's ironic, because, if you know about the business side of things, you'll know about Nintendo treating its third party developers like trash in the past.

I have no problem downloading a game and playing it on a system. However, streaming games and playing it on a system is a terrible idea. That concept might work for movies and TV shows, but it won't ever catch on in the gaming world. Input lag, frame drops and even connection breaks are always going to be present, or games will have to significantly scaled leading to them not being considered cutting edge.
They... never did any of those things. They talked about how Stadia delivers a diferente approach to gaming, not a better one, specially they never say anything bad about current consoles performance or features.

Slenderfoxx37 lol right? And Nintendo didn’t call the pink and green set the “girls” set lol I think they were meant for splatoon! As soon as they mentioned “Streaming is the future of gaming” I laughed my ass off. Nothing will beat your old school console or a gaming pc. Specially the pc.
Going to have to disagree. As soon as the issues are fixed, and it’s only a matter of time until they are, the convenience of cloud gaming will draw the casual audience away from traditional consoles. Dedicated gamers might keep their PCs and Nintendo has enough exclusives to survive, but I doubt enough of a market would remain for Sony and Microsoft.
As if to drive home how dead it is, Google released a DIY software toolkit that will allow people with Stadia controllers to turn them into regular controllers... Two words: Scrubbed. Clean.

In fairness they were correct. From anywhere Stadia does let you play the latest games. Whether or not those games are responsive or are of consistent quality is a whole other matter! 🤣
It's for the modern gamer who doesn't have a console but still wants to pay full price for their games and doesn't care about consistent performance. So, no one really.
Even if Stadia *did* work properly, I’d still be against it. Companies trying to do away with physically owning a game will make game preservation all the more difficult.
Why would I even bother with buying a Stadia console, when I could get Nvidia Shield TV and use Geforce Now to stream my whole Steam library. Stadia's garbage business model would kill it, even if it happened to work right. No smart person who owns a PC or Console would rebuy their games again on a cloud streaming service.

Brandon Holyfield He’s talking about what Google did
But Google is one of the biggest companies on earth so nothing will happen as usual
@Brandon Holyfield Jesus you're not too bright are you?
Therefore, it isn’t false advertising.”
Yeah, if you tried that logic anywhere outside a US court of law, you’d be laughed out of the room. It’s basically flat-out admitting that you’re lying, but because of some logical loopholes, you somehow aren’t lying.

It's funnier when a dial up connection can be faster then NBN as well it's rediculous

It's funny that the Ouya, an indie console that was an giant flop and mainly runs mobile titles works better then Stadia.

"The platform is Googles data centers."
Which is miles away. You can't break the laws of physics. Hardware in the living room is much closer and therefore less latency than piping in from miles away over unpredictable network reliability.
Harv Begal if you try it actually works well for example I live in Texas and most data centers are in Dallas or a core major city and I have 50mbs so it’s actually not as bad as everyone makes it out to be
Maybe in 5 years when my PC becomes totally obsolete again. If Google hasn't shut it down by then, like they usually do with their little projects that do horribly.
@@Rocketbro135 Hi Google Stadia executive, your lies won't spread far here

How there are so many toxic people in this thread?
I knew this was doomed to failure. For streaming modern games in 4k you need gigabit fiberwire. Until that becomes the standard everywhere, this will never work.
I mean, it might work well in Silicon Valley where everybody has a satellite link up their arse, but us plebs don't.
This isn't true
@@christiancsq Oh so why am I not getting a Gigabit connection still then lol
@@nightmarepotato5000 what?
@@christiancsq It is. 4K streaming requires a really good connection, and most people don't have that.

"A quarter decade old box"
I dont think ive ever heard 2.5 years dramatized to such an extent in order to make it sound much longer than it actually is.
Yup, it is almost like they are trying to make it look worse than it is to hit a narrative.
I got a buddy pass. Stadia works great. People love to hate it though.
For me the input lag will be the first problem they need to solve, imagine playing souls game with it, hell even playing fps should be impossible.
Lag is hell for fast-paced games...
Even games like RaC sound like hell with input lag. Hell, some of the games with worse framerates like Nexus are annoying enought to play
Xboxs xcloud took them ages to build enough data centres to decrease the input lag on there streaming game service. Stadia will takes years to even get close to achieving that.
And i dought there commited enough to try
Imagine playing a rhythm game with input lag
Actual hell
"Stadia is not constrained by consoles"
My console isn't constrained to have internet in order to play, and it is a lot better having a physical copy
@Dark Night Then they should have made the service available on Samsung, iPhone, Huawei, or something other than their failure of a smartphone line, that only a minuscule amount of people own or care about.
*Laughs in Steam*
@Dark Night Too bad Smartphone audience and paying $60 for a game doesn't go together.

@@mythosinfinite6736 yeah, just don't mind my utter stupidity
I actually worked on some games, around 20 years ago, that had sudden resolution drops, but these were clearly and specifically mentioned in the manual. Those games would adjust resolution on the fly to guarantee continued smooth framerates, even if you were on an older system.
N64 games did that.

Yeah. I don't really care about resolution. Hell, I still play PSX games on a 14" CRT TV. All I want is a decent frame rate and no input lag.
Stadia fails at both.
Input lag, is second worst thing that cna happen to a gamer. There is NO excuse for such a thing. Unplayable
