- A VLOG of my visit to the Lexus Car Dealership in Santa Monica. I was interested in a 2018 Ford Fiesta-with 25k miles on it. I didn't have the best experience there. The Korean man that helped me was not that accommodating-as far as "customer service" is concerned. The MSRP on the vehicle was roughly $14,200. The printed out piece of paper that he handed me- added on an additional $3,000. The man was unable to explain these hidden fees . I've never thought that anyone would ever ask about a previous owner like that. He asked like this guy knows all previous owners of all their vehicles personally, their backgrounds, and every single thing they did with the car from how many times it was serviced to how many times they farted in the vehicle...like what the actual fk..he was even saying he thinks the guy knows but just isn't disclosing the information...
You are totally right about that place Steve. Bad energy. They didn't care about taking care of you. I would not done the deal either. Your gut will always guide you to make the right decision. When you find the right car, it will be effortless and you will feel good about the deal. Stay positive about the process, so you can attract a good outcome.

When you’re budget is 10k-15k max in a used car market like today you are going to get fucked😂 if it was pre Covid he could’ve got the same car but thousands of dollars less😂 this is why you don’t wait until your 50s or have good credit… be realistic. Dealerships are the absolute worst. Only tip that ever worked with me is you got to bring multiple friends/family with you, never try to solo a dealership.

The guy wasn’t that bad he just probably wasn’t comfortable with you video taping the whole time. Also the question “is there anything else you want to disclose about the vehicle” seems like you’re trying to set him up. “Was the owner white or Asian?” probably also had him confused.

I really liked the car dealer. The overly friendly ones are the ones who aren’t straight shooters. This guy felt honest, no bullshit.

Most car salesmen can tell if someone is shopping with no intention to buy and Stevie doesn’t seem like he’s shopping around ready to drive a car off the lot. They’re paid by sales and it’s not a hourly job so if they can tell a sale isn’t going to happen they have no $ motivation to play that role you were expecting.
I manage a store and I have morals and motivation to be kind and nice to other humans no matter weather they look like they are going to buy or not.

You should consider a new car as a used car will most likely have problems in a few months and cost you more money to repair. New Hyundai and Kia models are great with excellent prices, warranty, and great interior. Check them out in your next blog. You’ll prob meet a friendlier sales person there. 👍
Also its wierd with pricing.. and 3 y/o low mileage car is 3-5k$ less than brand new w/o a warranty. There is just no value savings in used cars right now

Not true. Those fees are staying. Somone will pay it. Thats how the dealer makes their money. plus they cant waive the Taxes/DMV filing fees.
Buy from private seller. No fees, just taxes at dmv
The fees in today's market they don't care. Their inventory is so low.
I love it when people act like they can go into a dealership and just tell them what they’ll be paying and which fees they’ll be paying. Sales tax and registration fees aren’t hidden fees and are mandated by the state of California. The dealer can’t make them go away. You can negotiate add ons and the price of the car, but at the end of the day the dealership will let you walk away because they know someone will buy it.
he read you off the bat, knew you weren't gonna buy anything. plus you come in with a camera, film him and ask weird, unnecessary questions about the previous owner like her race?? he doesn't go to work expecting to be filmed, he was clearly uncomfortable. professionalism has to come from you too, steve.

Hey Steebee! All of the warning lights on the dash are supposed to come on before the car starts, this is testing if the lights work. If your car has a problem, for example a bad ABS unit, the ABS light will come on, a dishonest person may take the dash out and just remove the warning light before they sell it so that the potential buyer has no idea there is a problem.
You want to make sure the battery, check engine, ABS and airbag light come on when you turn the key on and then make sure they turn off once the car is running. You are right about this guy having a bit of a sketchy and unhelpful vibe but I don't know if your going to find a super honest dealer that you can really relate to and genuinely wants to help you selling mid priced used cars in LA. Good job bro! Those are good looking cars but not sure of reliability. I'm in Chandler AZ and Gilbert might have more of a selection. That sales guy was just busy or tired which sucks he wasn't more informative or friendly but you did good. Ask a car friend to help or about the car before you buy if you can. Good luck!
