These movies also deserved so much better
They were way ahead of their time/or were concepts that were not commercial or masala
The directors dared to make movies on something no one explored

Most of the movies in the list have never made a frequent run on satellite. Like you will never see Earth 1947, Rann, Guzaarish on television that much. Sadly, thats why a common-set of audience have no clue about these masterpieces.
    Good List TRP! :)

These films dont feature in the television coz people are not very fond of such films...indian audiance watch films to be entertained after a day of exhaution.... They want raunchy item numbers, stereotypes being praised and the orthodox style of good vs evil.... Films portraying reality is not something that will appeal to indian mass....

Guzarish was visually stunning and had great performances by the actors. I truly enjoyed watching it. 1947 Earth is one of my favorite of Amir Khan’s movies. I remember going to watch it in theatre and my friends are were the only women in the audience 🙄I can understand that not everyone wants to watch a deeply moving and thought provoking story every time they go to the theater. But I wish everyone would give these movies a chance. Thank you Jammie pants for highlighting these movies. I would like to watch the ones I never got a chance to see when it was released.

I watched Earth and one of the scenes made me think for an entire week, I got goosebumps while watching the movie. Since then I have watched the entire Trilogy - earth, fire and water. Water is banned in India unfortunately. Fire was way ahead of its time... such movies never sit well with the masses because it questions their core beliefs!

*Earth* left me undone. I always wondered if it was the inspiration for *Atonement* w/Keira Knightly, James McAvoy and Saoirse Ronan.
*Guzaarish* also guts me. I can’t help but cry when Hrithrik sings *Wonderful World.*

Jhootha Hi Sahi should've made the list. The movie is so underrated. It released back in 2010. But it dealt with sensitive topics like suicide, mental health so beautifully. Another thing I loved about this movie was the way they portrayed homosexuals. They were shown as normal people which Bollywood hardly does. This movie was definitely way ahead of it's time.
