Work life balance, stop chasing money and status, let go , forgive yourself lost opportunities, cry all out if you need it and stop feeling shame because of it, cut toxic people out and do not be one of them, be grateful for all you're taking for granted, stop buying and throw away stuff you don't need, exercise walk run cycle, jump out if the matrix, stop watching TV news.

Wise words those - I’d add it’s important to eat as well as you can and drink more water than alcohol - what we consume physically literally fuels our mind and body. Make good choices; to have the best chances 👍

Everyone has that voice. Some are so engrossed into it, that they don't even know they are listening to the runners commentary. I would call it lost to ego, subconscious thinking. I had to stop listening to that voice to get sober a few years ago.

Nearly everyone has that voice talking to them. That running commentary as you go through the day. I call it the ego , subconscious thinking mind. The reason I call it that is because I was totally unaware of it, it was just me. I had to learn to stop listening to it to get sober a few years ago. I did that by learning to pray and meditating. When i prayed for a sober day something happened and I realised there was another place. A place of silence a place of feeling rather than thinking.

@DeputyChiefWhip: Do you know what one form of "sitting and doing nothing" is? MEDITATION. So I understand what you're saying and I agree with you in a certain sense, but not across the board. When you are distracting yourself, what are you distracting yourself from? What is gnawing at you? Depression can be anger turned inwards. Anxiety can be suppression. When someone doesn't feel like they're living an authentic life, eventually they can become dead inside or the alarm bells of anxiety are trying to wake them up to their unhappiness.

@@DeputyChiefWhip No, I understand. I just wanted to remind people not to always run away from their feelings with distractions but to really be present with the sadness and even anxiety. From my experience it really works excellently! It doesnt even need to be a full hit. With potent shrooms 2-3 small ones will still make a clear difference. It will be a few hour cosy rumbling moment around rest time, but afterwards its just calm and you feel amazing and gain your freedom. Psilocybin is different dudes, its the only "treatment" I would recommend to someone who genuinely wants to get better. There is no addiction, withdrawal, or negative side effects. It's just pure healing., far more effective than any anti-depressant. You can thank me later

Funny thing happened to me 8 months ago!! I suffered from anxiety/panic disorder and depression most of my life. Around 4 years ago my granddaughter Ana was diagnosed with autism and I recognized it or knew something was off. Well she helped unlock an unknown secret in me, I went through a 7 day emotional change and it was intense. My brain rewired to how it was meant to be. I have autism/adhd and was a heavy masker and all that suppression presented as anxiety and depression with heart palpitations. So i am currently weaning off my anxiety medication because even though my autism is anxious, it's not bad anxiety. I now have new neuro-spicy issues to deal with and it's tricky to navigate through. The good thing is i am living and releasing my emotions and my thoughts even though extremely complicated are free with no suppression and it's liberating in so many ways. Always remember the most important person in your life is "YOU"!! 👍😎👻🤪🌶♾️

This was great to hear from eddy , he is spot on. We do i do run a constant relentless narrative in own mind in response to all external events no matter what they are. So it's not so much the outside thing , person, words, etc but more how some of us perceive and process and make sense of that information. I'm highly sensitive and codapendant with addictions . And I'm still learning about my own process . Its tough very tough but the deeper i can see my own internal experience and be self aware i can see that it's a learned pattern and can be changed . Amazing how complex internally we can be😮. Lot of us don't have or didn't have sound mentoring or modelling for good mental health and as adults it's our role now to love and nurture ourselves. Opposite positives to addiction anxiety and depression. , limit alone time, talk and laugh with people you gel with , sport exercise in any form , plenty water , decent varied diet, try and get sound sleep , write , yoga meditate, detach and watch your own thoughts. Build self love and compassion. Love to all x

Adding mindfulness, gratefulness meditation has been a positive experience that has helped me put positive words in my mind regardless of the situation. Cheers Eddie. Stumbled across this unintentionally. So pleased you mentioned resilience towards the end as I believe a significant part of the current mental health crisis is what I would call a deliberately indulged lack of just that….resilience.
Meaning a dilution of emotional resilience whereby we very casually label the difficult yet understandable emotions we experience in life’s everyday challenges as being a mental health problem…instead of teaching, contextualising and encouraging people, especially the young, to overcome, navigate through the experience and in a healthy way move on. The byproduct of NOT doing this is what we see all around us now. It encourages people (from a young age) to see themselves as somehow ill or having a disorder, as opposed to seeing difficult feelings as being a part of the normal human experience.
Naturally every situation and every individual is different in both scale and impact, but there is clearly an element of social contagion going on here…and on the back of it some very confused kids (the identity issues that play out of this most obviously) and of course down the line, if not already, a generation of confused unhappy adults is the result. Meanwhile doctors encourage medicating everything as a first response and “big pharma” as the sponsor of this approach gets super rich.

I listened to Shalamar doing the dishes this afternoon and today is my second day on Vortioxetine 5g after decades of not admitting my bastard mum ruined my life. It's all well suffering on and on and on. At some point you are allowed to ask for a crutch. So here I am, living in Spain and starting a multimodal antidepressant that also improves cognitive function. Balls to suffering when you can take a pill. And balls to those who think their ruined mental health is THEIR fault and not the fault of their shite parents not giving them a solid structure to build their personalities on... It's not being a victim, it's believing what you experienced was real and totally horrible, and judging and condemning the perpetrators. And if anyone drones on about forgiveness and the universe or any other new age nonsense, they can simply DO ONE. The fact is children who grew up in households with mentally healthy parents do far better than those of us who grew up with nutters, and spent the rest of our lives trying to get over it.

Your experience is real. Your interpretation, the narrative, or the ‘story’ you’ve created from that experience is in your imagination. You most definitely have created a ‘victim’ narrative. I did too, out of my childhood experiences, until I told myself ‘so what’, I’m no different to most.
The millions of kids around the world from shitty parents don’t all develop MH issues.
Your childhood experiences are not special and are quite normal. You don’t need to forgive them, but you need to forgive yourself. Your upbringing may not be your fault, but how you live your life and the decisions you make from now, is your responsibility.
Take ownership of your life bud 👊🏻

I remember when I was younger, i got something what i now as 'brain fog' , i panicked, went to the doctors and I got diagnosed with a mental health label and I spent years on and off meds and in therapy etc.
Now i've educated myself and there's a lot of things on youtube and all over the internet about brain fog, so now when I get it I know what to do, I change my diet, i exercise more, stop working shifts, stop smoking and drinking and reduce my screen time or wear blue light glasses and it goes away within a few days.
Not sure what my point is, but I guess i'm trying to show that your perception or how you deal with it can mean, a few days of poor mental health or a few years

Depression is like cancer; it is not one illness, but many. Autism and depression are now both considered to be on the same "spectrum." But all cancers respond to treatment of the same kind; every case of depression is different, and needs individual treatment. My depression is in my genes, from ancestors who migrated here from England, so there is no complete cure for me. A woman who was having shock therapy every 5 years was said to be cured. She was probably more cured than I am, but she was not free from treatment. Some people have depression for only a few years.

Mental health problems are man made by our maddening world we are creating. Pressures of modern life , life expectancy, we life in a want want want society got to life to and fit in with a so called society, keeping up with the jones . There are many things in this life we need but don’t get that confused with want . And told we have to have . The world population has tripled in the last 100 years and the world has got far more complicated and pressurised and every person is expected to life on the same path

My recent problems are related to nutrition. I tried to research what I should be eating to do it right for my overall well being but I read a lot of things that affected me even more and now the whole situation is obviously worse than before. DON'T eat beans (full of toxins), be sure to peel tomatoes (seeds are also toxic), don't eat any fruit with carbs at the same time, avoid carbs, avoid dairy, soak nuts, avoid many nuts, soaking does not help, oatmeal is horrible, don't eat meat, be sure to fast etc. etc. etc. Every time I put something in my mouth, I feel like I don't belong there.

I appreciate this video, and it opened my mind. To accept the illness as real is difficult. But it made me stand back from what was hurting me, observe, and understand the enemy.
I think, deep down, we have already experienced the worst day of our lifetime, we just Don't know it.
Take a look at the enemy, see it for what it is. Conquer it before it Conquers you. Just tuning in to this has proven you are fortifying yourself, not pretending it's not real.

You didn’t understand because you didn’t fully absorb what I said in the beginning… I stressed that this is multi layered and one video in a series to help people with MH issues.
This video concentrates on one concept and that is mental health illnesses are real but have imaginary causes. We all experience events, but it isn’t the event that makes one ill, it’s the story, or narrative we create from that event. I then give a couple of examples.
At the end I explain that if one fully understands this concept, then one is ready to understand more.
Not everyone will understand, but you’ll see by the comments that many do. I do know that people like to complain, criticise, or insult on TH-cam (I have two channels) and the lack of these types of comments on this particular video signals a broad level of satisfaction at the content. It also has a 98% ‘Likes’ statistic. So far, this video has also gained over a thousand subscribers, which is an excellent ratio per views.
I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied but thank you for watching 👍🏻

I do think we live in a victim culture where we are all told we have mental issues, where labels are quickly diagnosed so more and more drugs can be pushed on people which in turn creates further mental health issues. I find it hard these days to determine who's actually got mental health issues and who's just making bad decisions. Good habits such as healthy eating, fitness and working hard help mental health, sometimes our grandfather's stiff upper lip, get out and do it mentality helps but we've demonised that for aome reason. Not everyone is the same though and I think of Gary Speed for example that just came out of the blue so it's certainly very important we lookout for the signs. Great news that you've come out the other side mate 👍💙

Anytime I end up in bad circumstances financially or lose everything I go through a period of depression, but I think it’s based on my circumstances. I don’t think medication‘s going to help me. I did substance abuse, and smoke crack for a while and that actually made me feel better, but now that I’m off it, the depression is worse, I hope I can get over this material loss and recover so the depression will go away again like it did before. I hate it. I just stay in bed.

If it were that easy everyone would be doing it. Just because it works for one person doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. Ive cycled from different medications because i kept quiting them thinking i could magically will myself to feel better and when i get off the meds guess what? I get depressed and hopeless and anxious where it just gets corrected as soon as i get back on the meds after nearly driving myself off a metaphorical cliff because the emotions get so overwhelming. So to anyone who thinks they can “just feel better” talk to your dr first and get blood tests see if theres any nutrients you lack and discuss if you want to get off medications a safety plan on how you’d do that or an alternative to medications like supplements that might be able to replace the pharmaceutical medications which i agree no one wants to be on them

The originators of mental illness are 'others', especially significant others. There is a genetic vulnerability with mental health, but it would not be expressed/ exacerbated without others and the social environment. A genetic vulnerability for alcoholism would not be expressed without drinking alcohol.

    • @Eddy-Hope
      @Eddy-Hope  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I’m certainly no clinician but I’d be interested in seeing the science that suggests we’re genetically predisposed to suffer from depression, or anxiety as an illness.
I disagree with social environment factors as that’s what this video is about. The illness is real, the causes are imaginary. It’s not the external event that causes the illness but our minds reaction to it, our imagination.
If it was the external event then everyone witnessing, or experiencing it would develop an illness…

Different people process and deal with trauma differently is 100% correct. EMDR THERAPY saved my life. You regress back and process traumatic events, so you can finally live in peace. It's the only thing that has worked for me. I was abused from birth, for decades but repressed most of it. I finally understand.

    • @Eddy-Hope
      @Eddy-Hope  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I had similar therapy and found the opposite worked for me. I learned that there is no such thing as a traumatic event, only your mind makes it so.
The example I give in the video is that not everyone who experiences, or witnesses the same, or similar thing becomes ill. So, was it a traumatic event? The obvious answer is that it is neither.
Thousands, even hundreds of years ago abuse and rape would have been ‘normal’, an everyday hazard to avoid and negotiate.
We are then free to experience the emotions of the event in a more natural way without it dragging us under.
One of course can resist this line of thought, fiercely even but I do know how it will work out

Hi Danny, thanks for sharing. The concept needs to seep into your bones to really get it.
Distraction techniques only works temporarily for some. It’s about changing the lens on how you see life and your part in it. I’ve covered these concepts in some of my other videos. There are more to come.
Messages I’m trying to get across are summarised here:-
      You’re not special
You’re not worthy of special attention
The bad things that have happened in your life are normal
      Everyone goes through hardship
      Escape the ‘victim’ narrative
      Take responsibility for your decisions
      Stop blaming other people
Your illness is real but the cause is in your imagination
You’re going to die someday and the universe doesn’t give a shit either way
What are you going to do about it?
      I hope this helps 🙏

I’m not a victim nor do I consider myself one I just want to feel normal years ago I didn’t understand what real depression was I thought pull yourself out of it! But with what I’m experiencing you can’t but I’m trying to mine sounds completely different from what you experienced anyway thank you.

Hi mate, just clarify, this isn’t about positive thinking. I don’t believe in that either. You’re misunderstanding the message…
And believe me, I know what depression and anxiety feels like. It’s debilitating and scary. I had a full on mental breakdown in 2018/19.
Your illness is real, but what you think is causing it, is all in your imagination…

@@Eddy-Hope in our field I knew it could happen at anytime. I was just given a nice raise and we were told it was going to get really busy. I was totally caught of guard. My anxiety holds me back from going to another job because I feel like im not good enough. I don't know what to think of the whole thing. I push myself but its very hard for me.
