Paying respect to the uber talented and beautiful Irene Cara. Rest in peace beautiful one
She mapped out the 1980s with her signature video, of her singing fame in the middle of new York, so sad to hear of her passing hearing it on the breaking news on the BBC hear in London .my condolences to her family and friends. what a brilliant beautiful talent the world has lost.
She was so talented and beautiful. So sad to hear about her passing

Now this hurt to watch. I'm 56 and they were 2 of my teen icons. Rest in Paradise Andy and Irine.
I didn’t know that she passed ❤️🩹🙁
@@veritasaboveall1591 She died at 63 in 2022. I don't know the cause of death.
If he hadn’t died so young, he could if been one the greatest blue eyed soul singers of all time!
I agree!! I thought he was a SUPER SPUNK!!!! 😍💕🇦🇺
This was back when entertainment was actually entertaining. Singers could actually sing.

Love the subtle looks they were giving each other and Irene still visibly flush at the end was delightful. Good chemistry and the performance showed
Andy Gibb broke many women's hearts, particularly when he died. Mine included. Such a horrible waste of a talented, handsome man absolutely oozing in charisma. He had a great smile, beautiful hair, charming accent, gorgeious voice, and his moves!
Funny, I picked up that she didn't really care for him, but needed to do the performance.
Bingo. She was a great professional. @@DivineSublime22
Her innocense reminds me of Tammie Terrell
@@DivineSublime22 whatever it was a good performance
RIP Irene one of the best voices of my generation this duet with Andy was one and still one of my favorites 😍 ❤️
She is dressed very conservative compared to pop stars of today.
@@dontennis2260 This was back in the days when recording artists didn’t have to dress like streetwalkers to get attention.
@@KissMyBiscuits Well except for Cher, Tina Turner and of course all the back up dancers. 😅
@@taltalim18 Touché! But it seems like they were exceptions though, not the rule. Madonna also. I remember people talking about Cher’s & Madonna’s skimpy outfits. These days it seems like it’s more the norm.
@@KissMyBiscuits And it's great!
Can't believe another legend has passed away. Irene Cara was a time Traveller who could instantly take me back to carefree childhood era when the world was a better place.

It was never better though, that was just the illusion! The forces of darkness was always working.
I agree 100%!
Yep, absolutely.
We are very proud of Irene Cara, a fellow Puertorican, for her exuberant talent! May charming Andy and her be happily singing in heaven now.
She was Cuban, not Puertorican, anyway She was great

I can't believe that this song is from 47 years ago, and that watched them sing this song 41 years ago. How fast time had flown by.
They both were great talents. I love the song "What a Feeling" in Flash Dance. They are both gone, but never forgotten. Rest In Peace Irene Cara and Andy Gibb
🔥❤❤💯
Flashdance: What a Feeling was a BIG hit for Irene Cara. #1 on the charts. From Wikipedia: The song spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts around the world. It was awarded Gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of one million copies and won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song and earned Cara the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
I loved both of them R.I.P Irene and Andy.
@@chuckchuck7668
I will have to agree with you on that comment.
"American Patriot 1776" Andy died so much younger than Irene.
Irene Cara is a phenomenal talent
Really? I guess you are going by all those Gold and Platinum records she won 😂
@@Superbowler08 ?
I've always loved her voice. And record sales or awards don't always speak to a person's talent.
She was a phenomenal talent. Unfortunately, she passed away 11/25/22😭
@@Superbowler08 Don't need plaques when you've got 1 Academy award 1 Golden Globe and 2 Grammys telling you that you had the best original song, best pop vocal performance, best soundtrack song and best music from that year beating a whole lot of other musicians. Plaques just tell you how many people bought your track. Them awards are from the industry telling you your were the best of that year. Phenomenal.
Oh my God the old days much better .RIP BOTH OF YOU
I love these two.
I am glad to be a child of the 70s👏👏👏👏👏👏
Me too.
I'm just 8 day before this performance
It’s so surreal to see so many of my teen favorites pass away so young. Loved these two.
They both had the world at their feet. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Same.
Irene Cara and Andy Gibb did so very well here with this then-classic 1970s song in 1982. Irene was past "The Electric Company" and had just had fame with the theme from the movie "Fame," and was just a year or so before her "Flashdance...What A Feeling" success. It was a beautiful combination!!! At least these are preserved videos of an era that is so long ago, despite it not seeming so. Thanks, Michael, for rolling this out of your video vault time machine from the early 1980s!!! Oldies but goodies.
Glad you are enjoying the treasures, and, as always, it’s great to see all of the history you inject into your comments.
Jason Burger Yes, I agree with your view.
That's why I couldn't feel the 80s vibe from this video.. it just looks so 70s.. no disrespect intended but to me 80s and 90s are my favorite era.. is it because I am a millennial? Hehe
@@janath9118 Thank you for that.
@@squallleonheart8494 Yes, that might be the case of being a millennial. Many tend to favor the music of their youth. As for the more 1970s vibe coming from this performance, the video is from a 1982 episode of the 1980-1988 television series "Solid Gold" and this part of 1982 was early in the year, so only slightly more than 2 years removed from the end of the 1970s, that being 1979. The 1980s musical sounds were just getting established in the early 1980s, with the end of 1970s musical sounds that were uniquely 1970s, such as the soft rock of the era and disco, which began close to 1974 and faded by the early 1980s. The rise of synthesizers and the New Wave sounds took over a lot of popular music of the 1980s much as grunge and alternative rock did in the 1990s and emo rock did in the 2000s.
Interestingly, although "Solid Gold" is a resoundingly 1980s series, but that had grown out of a 1980 2-hour special called "Solid Gold" that was a countdown of the top musical hits of 1979, with Dionne Warwick and Glen Campbell as co-hosts and and end theme "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, which was popular at that time. The Michael Miller/Dean Pitchford classic "Solid Gold" theme did not get composed and lyricized until August 1980, a month ahead of the September 13, 1980 debut of the series.
On the regular series, there was a 1983 episode that was a salute to the 1970s. So, although a 1980s television series, there was other 1970s music featured as well.
Goodbye and rest in peace Andy Gibb and Irene Cara. 🌿
I watch this all the time because their music is so elevating -- and I just love their light flirtation throughout. Here are two incredible talents, having so much fun with this song. I can only imagine what thoughts were going on in their heads while they were singing. Both gone too soon, but never forgotten, and this video is timeless.
Still watching! Still loving this and still putting a smile on my face and lightness in my heart. 😊
No doubt Andy wanted some of that brown sugar that was Miss Cara!

@stevescissors - She was working on something recently, from what so read, before she passed away.
What a beautiful duet! RIP Andy and Irene!
What a pretty and adorable woman ,hello, my darling ?
Both of them are angels in heaven singing
Not unless they were born again. Salvation is repentance from sin and believing the gospel.
Repentance means turning away from sin. Sin is transgressions of God's laws. The gospel is believing in Christ death, burial and ressurection. Believing that he died for our sins and that through him, we have Salvation. Salvation from what? Spending eternity in Hell. Yes, Hell is real just like Heaven. Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. It's not by our works, being a good human, being rich or poor, being able to sing, play an instrument, going to church.... None of these things get you into Heaven. Call on the name of the Lord for Salvation. Not your mother, father, brother, sister, kids cousins or a priest.
This is the way to Heaven......
Romans 10:9:10 kjv
9.That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Irene Cara - fantastic 👍
Andy Gibb - gone too soon, the Gibbs family had such amazing voice
Most of the Gibb singing family is gone except for Barry Gibb. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
“She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live forever through her music and films.”

And they were singing in live; no trick or hoax at all, only their talent. RIP both of you ❤
@@rossscott7157 I like them both. They were present in my youth. When I was 20 I began to attend a jazz dancing school because of Irene Fame movie and Flashdance and her What a Feeling song. I miss the 80s.....Awesome time in life
I lived for Solid Gold as a pre-teen, it was much-watch TV for me. I always felt as if I were being transported into a musical world when I sat so close to the TV screen, absorbing every detail. This was a great memory. Thanks for sharing. The light banter before the song was cute. I can also appreciate Irene's more conservative dress compared to what some artist where on stage in the modern era. May both Irene and Andy rest in peace.
I know, I never missed the music show. I wished it would be on dvd
I agree about the clothing. They were selling talent back then, but these days their managers have them selling sex. (Awful.) 😮😮
She was very good looking and good sing. So, no reason to dumb down dress.
Conservative dress and all, she was very pretty.
