I It's so uncomfortable to watch, he's placing her here and here and here and she's playing the helpless female, it's just awful. Incredible song tho. I love it !
This song and Abba's Dancing Queen sums up my childhood during the heatwave summer of 1976; going to the park every day on my chopper, keeping cool with jublies and ice poles, staying out until it got dark with my brother; queueing with mum at the standpipe for water. Lifelong great memories. I could listen to both songs everyday for the rest of my life
This song was around when I was 19 yrs. Boy, how things have changed. Reminder: At this time, Elton was the biggest rock star in the world. Saw him, live, in Portland OR in 1976. There was NO opening act. Elton was at his piano at 8pm and with a short break, he finished at 11:35pm. F en awesome !
Elton was light rock at best. As for biggest, that was and is a highly contested claim. He was also one of the most hated artists at the time as well. Especially since Fleetwood Mac was getting huge around this time, and Pink Floyd as well as Led Zeppelin were still very much household names (although this was about the time Zeppelin started to wane). Not to mention this was the beginning of the rise of Metal era, and Black Sabbath was pretty massive at the time. Oh, then there was also another band.. named Queen. So sure.. Elton was the biggest Light Rock performer... but biggest overall.. like I said, highly, highly contested claim.
@Meh Bernie writes all of the lyrics and elton writes all of the music. They never swap roles at all... bernie sends sheets of lyrics to elton and he turns them into songs. It's a weird process they use, elton says they've never sat next to each other and wrote a song ever, he always just gets sheets of lyrics. But yeah Bernie deserves a huge amount of credit for his wonderful lyrics (and elton talkd about him a lot and makes sure he gets credit), but it's elton who writes all the music. This is a cool video to watch btw... it shows elton with the original lyrucs bernie gave him for 'tiny dancer' and he explains how he wrote the music for it: th-cam.com/video/B0W6jCOggWQ/w-d-xo.html
Bernie Taupin wrote these lyrics but it’s one of the few songs he hates. Elton and Bernie’s musical partnership is on the same level of importance as Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

This is the greatest male female duet of light orchestrated pop to have ever happened in my opinion. To spite what ever else I may think about it. It touches me deeply.
Hi Dave. I saw Kiki in the musical, Blood Bothers by Willie Russell many years ago in London. She was terrific. Not only did she have to act, but she had a couple of the most tear-jerking solos I've ever heard (in context). A real trouper in fine voice and such fun to watch play.
Even without Kiki this would have been no ordinary song to me. The vocals are great of course but I am a musician and always appreciate the music and the the song in it's entirety.
Brilliance, sheer amazing and wonderfully collaborated talent, Elton and Kiki woohoo. I can listen to this over and over and over. It's always a treat. Greatest song!
I danced this song in 1976 in Bavaria. This song still makes me crazy, it gives me big joy, hope, happiness. Always, even after 48 years ! Ready to dance again and never tired to listen to it for the 9th time again 😅😅😅. Never.
The fact that this was accomplished in only one take is amazing. Not unheard of, but usually only with performers who have worked together before. Two pros at their best.
I think it was taken in two takes because at the time his bf walked into the studio after leaving Elton in London for bisiness purposes. So Elton stopped the first take to talk to his old bf.
not too hard, the audio isnt whats being recorded on that microphone. No way it'll pick up those voices coming at two different angles and distances. i doubt this is one take as well.
When I was 18 in the 1990s I used to work evening shift in the local supermarket and the manager who must have been a massive Elton fan used to play this full blast to motivate us while we mopped the floors before closing at 10pm. One Christmas all the lads had to wear Santa hats during the shift. Whenever I hear this song it immediately reminds me of mopping the supermarket floor in a Santa hat.
This song is magic for me. It takes me to my 16 when living was exciting and beautiful and every day was something unexpecting and life was worthy to be lived
This was supposed to be a duet between Elton and Dusty Springfield but Dusty was sick at that time so they picked this cute lovely woman to take her place and I am so glad to have had a chance to meet her. Kiki Dee is so pretty and talented with lots of music rhythm. She should have been a super star! Just like Elton!
Still a great song and duet. Listening to this I'm reminded of what truly great vocalists, rock singers and performers these two were. I tend to think of Elton John as more of a flamboyant pianist and showman, who was lucky enough to work with the best writers and producers, but he really has some great pipes on him. Kiki Dee's glossy red, helmet bob and overalls, so 70s!
What a life Elton John has led. One of the great, timeless talents with an ability to write and play music that is unique and happy and sad and meaningful and every other emotion. And from what I can tell he’s lived his life on his own terms. Kudos, Sir Elton.
Kiki Dee was drop-dead gorgeous, like many of the female performers in the late 70's and early 80's. No recourse to CGI or unnecessary plastic surgeries. Just naturally beautiful. Elton didn't look bad either. 😊 👍👏
Women was way more beautiful back than no BBL or bloated lip surgery just natural beauties the good old days will be missed kiki was beautiful especially the blondes with blue eyes was astonishing as well
Was 10 years old in the summer of '76 when this song was all over the radio. Elton & Bernie were cranking out those stellar hits non stop. They were a big part of my youthful soundtrack before my teenage years kicked in.
I am 51 today, but this song came out when I was 7 years old. We lived in Holbrook, AZ by the railroad tracks. But today, I am enjoying some good old simple memories to get away from the Pandemic. Bless the World. God is watching. Love and Peace my brothers and sisters.

I'm 55 . I don't care 🙂
Same. I am also 55. Love this song. They complement each other.
This is the greatest male female duet of light orchestrated pop to have ever happened in my opinion.
To spite what ever else I may think about it.
It touches me deeply.
This is what I love about music videos long ago. The clothing style is so ancient but so awesome.
I think my dad had a suit similar to that one!
😁
@Roger Stryker INR!!!
Where are the fashions of today that are so great?
P
I've known this song since 1976, and it's the first time I have seen this wonderful, joyous video.
Always though Kiki was a vastly underrated vocalist. Her voice is beautiful and she was able to elevate an ordinary song into something special.
Hi Dave. I saw Kiki in the musical, Blood Bothers by Willie Russell many years ago in London. She was terrific. Not only did she have to act, but she had a couple of the most tear-jerking solos I've ever heard (in context). A real trouper in fine voice and such fun to watch play.
Hello Hugh and thanks for the reply. Didn't realise that Kiki also acted but I'm not really surprised as talent has many outlets.
Even without Kiki this would have been no ordinary song to me. The vocals are great of course but I am a musician and always appreciate the music and the the song in it's entirety.
The 70's will crush any period in American history for music!
70’a and 80’s
50s, 60s, 80s, early 90s.
These two are English.
PERIODTTT
I love 70s music but 50s and 60s are better
Brilliance, sheer amazing and wonderfully collaborated talent, Elton and Kiki woohoo. I can listen to this over and over and over. It's always a treat. Greatest song!
I danced this song in 1976 in Bavaria. This song still makes me crazy, it gives me big joy, hope, happiness. Always, even after 48 years ! Ready to dance again and never tired to listen to it for the 9th time again 😅😅😅. Never.
Elton John is so sweet and goofy in this I love it 🥰
Tay Marino aww ikr haha😂
The fact that this was accomplished in only one take is amazing. Not unheard of, but usually only with performers who have worked together before. Two pros at their best.
They worked together plenty, she was a backup singer for him.
I think it was taken in two takes because at the time his bf walked into the studio after leaving Elton in London for bisiness purposes. So Elton stopped the first take to talk to his old bf.
@@oosberry158 maybe that only happened in the rocketman movie and irl they did it in one take.
Or lip synced.
not too hard, the audio isnt whats being recorded on that microphone.
Haha 😂 cool. Good memories I guess.
How lovely.❤️🙏
Me encanta tu comentario!
@@miriamfatimayoreismael316 Gracias 😉
At least it wasn't a Keebler Elf getup lolz ... Satan errrr Santa love it!
Happy Birthday Sir Elton John!❤
Always thought this was a good, fun tune, then saw this performance of them together and its a wow. Kiki Dee is insanely good!
I love how Elton is dancing and miming while Kiki is just hanging out chilling
I DON’T KNOW WHOSE VOICE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL
Noel Ochoa Both they are an awesome duo 👍👅✌
Both, but Elton's just perfect
BOTH
This song is magic for me.
She did she was part zoo a girl band later on I’m sure maybe not as famous
Their voices complement each other so well. Truly a unique performance.
One of the most catchy songs from Elton. Still goosebumps after all these years ❤
my words exactly..i have them now
I've heard catchy-ier songs.
Tão maravilhosa essa música e as interpretações dos ícones , Que não consegui identificá-los ouvindo pelo Rádio ! 😳💎😅😍☮️🌿🎆🤩❇️❣️
A's long as not ugly alone 😅
Don't go breaking Peter's balls Karen
Gees I wish it was 1976. Those were good days. Music was so cool.
@bibsann861, yes it was, I was turning 18 that year of 76, I have this single, & few more of Elton John, he was a great singer with a great voice
I was 9 years old in 1976 when this song was released. The 1970s my childhood years, I miss the 1970s.
@@alicehenderson7983 I'm too 18. Every pop song from Elton or others still alive
❤Yes 1976 👍💯
I was 14, turned 15 in October, one of the best years I had🎉
Two voices in harmony making wonderful music together. Such a great song
Nicely put. The best writers and producers could have worked with anyone, they chose him for good reason!

What a life Elton John has led. One of the great, timeless talents with an ability to write and play music that is unique and happy and sad and meaningful and every other emotion. And from what I can tell he’s lived his life on his own terms. Kudos, Sir Elton.
Highly overrated p00f.
Elton looks better with weight and hair
Kiki Dee was drop-dead gorgeous, like many of the female performers in the late 70's and early 80's. No recourse to CGI or unnecessary plastic surgeries. Just naturally beautiful. Elton didn't look bad either. 😊 👍👏
Women was way more beautiful back than no BBL or bloated lip surgery just natural beauties the good old days will be missed kiki was beautiful especially the blondes with blue eyes was astonishing as well
Kiki started her music career in 1964.
"Don't go breaking my heart"
*gets heart broken*
"I'm still standing"
He didnt get it broken by her.. he has a man
@@janette1860 it’s a joke
lmao
😂😂😂
@@janette1860 yeah it’s a joke
one of the sweetest music videos I've ever seen
Kiki has a lovely head of hair. So shiny and bouncy and that color is stunning.
Ella era hermosa, una mujer muy bella, Y ni decir lo talentosa
willkittwk Kiki Dee was so adorable ! No rhythm dancing but adorable lol....
One more thing Toni Tennille had the same hair cut !
she used the shampoo " gee your hair smells terrific ".
Elton had wavy hair back then....the kind that waved bye bye
music of the 70's are timeless
Sim
I love Elton for all time but Kiki Dee is seriously underrated. She’s wonderful.
Interesting 🤔, 70s song. Music 🎵🎶, had meaning back then. They both did a tony the tiger 🐅🐯 Greattttt, job!!!??
Totally agree!! She's a fantastic singer and should have had more success
Elton was, initially, fine but then became w- - - - but Kiki was always wonderful
Does Elton have aids?
Kiki ...more than a woman !
Was 10 years old in the summer of '76 when this song was all over the radio. Elton & Bernie were cranking out those stellar hits non stop. They were a big part of my youthful soundtrack before my teenage years kicked in.
Shane Anthony great year 76
was 8 and heard this and " Crocodile Rock " on they way to some trip with my mom . we both loved it so much . good times
Crocodile Rock was the first music I ever bought...a 45 of the single. Ya, good times :)
And when your teenage years kicked in Elton and Kiki were kicked out.
I was in 6th grade when this song came out. it holds some sweet memories for me!
His voice is awesome but Kiki's voice is so gourgeous as well. I Love her range
She is so cute❤️😍
Impossible not to love this song
I am 51 today, but this song came out when I was 7 years old. We lived in Holbrook, AZ by the railroad tracks. But today, I am enjoying some good old simple memories to get away from the Pandemic. Bless the World. God is watching. Love and Peace my brothers and sisters.
Awesome 🎵

Happy birthday

This was the first 45 record my mom ever bought me. I'd wake up and play it every morning as I got ready for school.
Hell yeah!
I'm 52 and listen to Tiny Dancer every morning putting my makeup on :)
70s in their full glory! Pure, simple and amazing
Best music ever won come back
70's pop. Because there was also Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Kiss and Black Sabbath.
This song and video is from 2015.
their music is amazing together....love the old days....music was beautiful then.
i'ts amazing how they sing PERFECT without even show difficulties
It was the 70s Baby,,
They’re lip-syncing, and take your mask off bro.
It's called being a good listener and not being atonal ^-^
@@guthrie1181 okay karen
Such a powerful performance and so simple video, two great artists and Elton John is a living legend and one of the best artists of all times. Loads of respect and admiration to him.

another classic, could listen to all day👍❤💋💙💜💛💚
Verna Johnson yeah I love classics!!!!!! But my age group HATES THIS MUSIC!!!!!🙁
Victoria William Gaming I start listening to these classics music since I was 11
Victoria William Gaming because it's real music. The real instrumentation is too complex for the younger generations. Growing up listening to music like this, made by real musicians, It breaks my heart to hear the general crap that's passed off as music now. Sad.
demento
Born in 89 and grew up listening to music from the 60's 70's 80's even the 50's ( thanks to my dad) and still do today.. hope i can pass my taste in music to my kiddo :)
One my favorite songs of all time from Sir Elton. The music was quirky, the lyrics were catchy and it's a feel good song too. They don't make songs like this anymore.
Classic
Sencillamente transmite bienestar, confianza, alegría y amor.
My favourite is " Philadelphia Freedom "
@@alfonsilozano837 English, PLEASE!
@@Armybrat173 super super tune, still got the orig single.
I was 12 years old when this song came out. Loved it then and love it now.
Katie Lee I’m 12 now, and I love Elton John So much! I love this era of music.
I was 7 in 1977 and I played it on the jukebox at summer camp.
