BTW this VH1 special was aired in the 90's so that's almost 30 years ago. And in that special, they interview his brothers and they talk about Andy's addiction. It didn't seem like they blamed Victoria back then. What I will say is I was young when he died and the MEDIA blamed his drug use on their breakup but when you watch the VH1 special, it was the other way around, she broke up with him because he was so addicted and she felt helpless.
What really hurts is that Andy didn't realize how talented he was! He was a good actor as well and he also presented Solid Gold for a while and he was very good at it! No addict can put the blame onto others or life circumstances, rejections, etc. Addiction is a brain disease with many risk factors. Ultimately, recovery/remission is up to the patient. Like some other celebrities with talented families, Andy likely suffered from "imposter syndrome." He had talent and skill in his own right. Such a waste!
Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend my partner & I visited Robin's grave & just a few yards away is a memorial stone to Andy. It is just over the road to Robin's homeowners his wife & son still live.
