This movie reminded of one of the episodes from Are you afraid of the dark. A boy disappeared from the school pool and they closed the pool afterwards. Some time passed and one of the students find a door blocked and it turned out it was towards the inside pool. The school decides to re open the pool, but then the boy and his crush discovers a creature has been living under the pool. Apparently there used to be a cementary, but they didn't pull out all of corpses so thats why the pool was haunted. They kill off the creature and thats how it ends. But yeah this movie reminds me a lot that episode. You're better off watching the Are you afraid of the dark episode instead of watching this movie. By the way the name of the episode is called Dead Man's Float.
Yes, I've seen that episode about two years ago for the first time. It actually creeped me out a few times. I still have to watch the rest of the series. Good stuff.
Wave pools! As a kid I used to be terrified (which also made it fun) of going over to the grate, where there’s nothing but darkness behind it, and whatever massive sea monster that makes the waves, lives. And one day, I just knew the tentacles of the creature were gonna reach through the grates and pull me back into there. As an adult, I understand how ridiculous it is, but as a kid it’s our imaginations that make pools and the empty blue or pitch black scary. I totally understand Joe on that!
This reminded me when I was a kid after watching Stranger Things I couldnt stand in a bathroom without lights on, I was thinking that a Demogorgon is gonna appear from the walls. To this day I never watched/played a horror movie/videogame with headphones at night
I loved that Are You Afraid of The Dark “pool monster” episode Alex mentions. That episode always scared the piss out of me when I was younger. It’s one of a few Are You Afraid of The Dark episodes that have always stuck with me. Edit: Just noticed there’s an ad for this movie right now below the comments on my TH-cam and it gave me a good laugh.
Alex nailed it. I recall that episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark of a haunted pool at a school. I remember it being the only episode that was actually good in my opinion.
OJ don't be ashamed! Jaws really messed me up too! But the movie that scared me of pools was Alligator (1980), the scene where a little boy is pushed into the pool at night and the giant alligator is in it waiting for him - terrified me to this day!

It's funny that you guys are talking about this movie AND Lights Out! I say that because I had a moment where I was very scared in a pool, at night, by myself. My best friend was house sitting his aunt's house, which had a really nice pool area in the back and he asked if I wanted to hangout with him while he was there, so we had a sleepover. We watched Lights Out at the movie theater then decided to go for a swim once we got back and it was already dark out. We were expecting guests as well because we were gonna have a party. While I was in the middle of the pool, my friend left to go answer the door before I could even tell him to wait for me, so I was left all alone in this lit pool, and I was too scared to get out and go inside because it was surrounded by darkness. I just stayed in the middle of the pool for several minutes paranoid as hell and cursing my friend for leaving me lmao. He finally came back with friends and I told him what happened lol, but I was so relieved when they showed up.
