The remoraid line is also based on a joke by Japanese sailors. What happened was fishermen who were trying to catch octopus would put a small fish in a pot and drop it down. Later when they retrieved the pots to find the octopus caught, they would joke that the fish turned into an octopus
Very interesting fact there. And we're talking Pokémon, come on. It's not like we tried to make sense out of why six egg-looking seeds evolved into a palm tree in the late 90s.
I wonder why everyone is surprised with pikipeck’s evolution line? The closest living relative of the woodpecker are toucans. But the one that doesn’t make sense is fletchling’s line, IT EVOLVES FROM A ROBIN INTO A FALCON!
The funny thing is, according to the latest scientific studies, falcons (like Talonflame) are more closely related to passerines - songbirds basically (which includes robins like Fletchling) - than they are to other birds of prey like eagles or vultures. Actually, the closest relatives to falcons are currently believed to be parrots. That nod probably wasn't intentional, but it's still interesting.
I highly doubt the Lilligant, Cottonee connection. Especially now that we know the Lilligant line originally was supposed to be a three stage line during development. I wish that were true cause more Lilligant’s make a better world.
This one's actually the easiest one to understand, somehow the things head switched places or it was upside down, you can see how it could change to its evolved form
even if Lilligant didnt have a second stage planned emperor cubone's reasoning was still dumb, the 2 cotton balls go together, the small flower bud and the big flower go together, similar looking eyes dont mean anything people
@@An_Entire_Lime I hate to sound mean but that was the dumbest explanation I've ever heard. You'd have to be blind to think that they look similar in any way. And later in the vid he talks about the clampearl one being grasping at straws? When his explanation made thousands less sense than the other theory. That angered me so much.
See, the eye theory doesn't really hold much ground for me... since Whimsicott also has the same orange eyes. Suspecting them might've been part of a swap evolution by trade is just more complicated than it really needs to be.
Not to mention cottonee is meant to look like a lamb head and whimsicot is based on a ram. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that petlil is based on a human toddler and lilligant is based on y’know a human adult?? Makes a lot more sense.
In the anime, when Gary explains why he wants to research pokemon, he specifically mentions "Remoraid and Octilarry are completely different when they evolve, which shows how much we dont know about Pokemon". So the anime acknowledges it and gives us an answer
@@emperorcubone you literally just tried to make an argument saying petil and whimsicott line are related. Which is grossly false. Since. Not only is your reasoning quite flawed itself. But you are factually wrong since it was confirmed that the petil line was supposed to be a 3 stage evolution. It was never related to the cottonee line to begin with.
12:08 “but if you ask me that’s just grasping at straws” Okay mr. “Cottonee and Petillil were intended to be trade evolutions because their eyes are swapped”
I think Togekiss looks like a pretty natural looking evolution of Togetic. The colors and general features are mostly the same, it becomes much more graceful and aerodynamic, and it's not like it's the only Pokémon to lose some limb access upon evolution.
That design looks like it's arms went under its wings, if you look closely, the wings have grown and so have the arms, there just underneath, the wings
dragonair and dragonite should have been there before togetic and togekiss, when me and my brother first played firered we didn't know how to get one, first we thought it might actually be aerodactyls evolution and was surprised to know it was from dragonair
Sorry to sound so harsh, but #3 is nonsense. The last thing we need is more specific trade evolutions, and having the same eyes does not make two Pokemon related. There's plenty I could say about the rest of the entries, but that was the most egregious offense and I had to say something. Except #2; that one I agree with. I'm a little surprised that Pikipek wasn't on here, especially considering the thumbnail.
I also agree with the Whimscott and Lilligant one, too. It made no sense to me at all, and was one of the weakest reasonings I've seen for an entry on any of the videos he's made.
If forgot the poketuber that did it, but they actually explained why Pikipek to Toucannon makes sense. It basically boiled down to being of the same real world genus, or something of that nature. I was actually shocked to find out this information.
So, basically the Galarian split evos, Perrserker and Runerigus are based on the Viking Invasions in the UK throughout history. Having researched Runerigus a bit, the location part of the evolution method would imply that the Dusty Bowl is where the stones to carve the runes were taken from. The runes itself are based on the Ingvar runestones, engraved by Vikings used to commemorate the lives of notable people and events, most of which discovered depict a Giant Serpent, most likely Jormungandr. In the case of pokemon, it would probably depict Eternatus. The 49 hp of damage seems to be a reference to Buddhism, where a soul takes 49 days to travel through Purgatory. Perhaps the yamask of those same vikings visited the very runes they left behind and were possessed by them, giving birth to Galarian Yamask. Its complicated, but makes some sense. Now, the real question is, how will they adapt this odd evolution method in the future?
Thank you for actually helping educate people, I hope everyone reads your comment instead of just dismissing these designs! But mind it’s the UK or Britain rather than just England though (us in Scotland, Ireland and Wales get forgotten 😅)
@@matthewj3993 I see what you mean, but it's highlighting the ones that for the average person, or from a first hand perspective, biologically don't make much sense, even if the reasoning behind some of them stem from a scientifical or historical reason.
@@DaSheepKiller first off, O O F ! Secondly, when he shows all four of them together, Whimsicott has orange eyes. Also Cottonee and Lilligant look nothing alike. Same with Petilil and Whimsicott. All Cottonee did was get a bigger body, the leaves turn into horns, and more fluff. Petilil gets bigger, grows arms, and gets a pretty hat and dress. Whimsicott is my fourth favorite mon. My fluffy baby! And he has to bash on it! Team lineup is Drapion, Tsareena, Mawile, Whimsicott, Torterra, and Gardevoir. BIG weakness to Poison, Fire and ice. And Mawile and Drapion are dead to ground.
For me Clamperl is Fish Egg making the clam his house, then once it has scales and teeth to defend itself it gets out of the clam and become a fish/serpentine thing.
@@GigaPangolin Yeah, like the pokemon is in the place of a pearl, not a literal pearl. Don't tell me Remoraid is a literal revolver. And it's essentially a clam egg, because that's where clams incubate their eggs, well not there exactly, just inside. And the fact that a clam egg evolves into fish is much less of a stretch than some other evolutions, I'm looking at you Pickipeck, don't think you evolving into a toucan makes much sense.
I honestly think that the whole theme that the Togepi line had going for it was the hatchling theme. If that’s the case, then it’s evolution line would make since, the line would go egg (Togepi), baby bird (Togetic), adult bird (Togekiss). Edit: Also (unrelated to the list but it still feels important that I get this out there) the Pikipek evolution line makes complete sense if you do some research. Woodpeckers and toucans belong to the same order of Piciformes, so it would make sense for the woodpecker Pikipeck to evolve into the toucan Toucannon
@@emperorcubone He wasn't agreeing with you, he was paraphrasing how you prefer changing an object from animate to inanimate over, say, a clam turning into a bigger and better clam.
The Vikings left left runes all over the Britain, runes were used as graves for fallen Vikings. Runes are also known as magical artifacts, so them taking over yamask isn't too farfetched.
For me I've always found the Dragonite line very jarring. The first two stages are blue serpents, then suddenly they become a big, orange dragon? Too much of a drastic change imo. If Dragonite had kept the same color palette at least I think it would be been better, but it literally looks nothing like its previous two stages
Maybe they figured that the only existing Dragon type family at the time should have a member that better resembles what most people would think of as a dragon? Granted, Eastern dragons are long and thin as well (see: Rayquaza), but they usually aren't as slender and smooth as Dratini and Dragonair, don't completely lack arms and legs, nor do they usually live in water.
@@Compucles You're correct for the most part, but many Eastern dragons actually DO live in water. In Asian folklore, dragons are usually associated with the weather (mostly rainfall and typhoons) thanks to their ability to control the water element. They were also worshipped as rain gods in ancient times :)
But in the games Clamperl does have Pearl as a hold item which you can take from it... so are you taking the baby head, or is there another, third kind of pearl hiding somewhere?
Gorebyss kinda makes sense. It seems to primarily be the actual 'pearl' grown up. It even still has the shells still as part of its body. Huntail only thing common with it is the shell color. Its probably the shell itself evolving and absorbing the pearl into itself or something. Which is why it has radically different features. So basically the clam and pearl are their own entities and the item promotes one or the other to evolve.
Your argument for cottonee and petilil switching definitely isn’t valid considering whimsicott also has the orange eyes and both petilil and cottonee have the white face as well as petilil having the leaves on its head
there's also tauros buffalaunt. and the Gen3 flying rocks and mineor. as well as the lack of baby pokemon to connect the Gen3 fireflies, flying rocks and generic electric rodents together...
Just because 2 thing look similar doesn't mean they are related Look at dolphins for example, Dolphin and Orcas look like just giant fish, yet they are all mammals Meanwhile Seahorse look nothing like a fish, but they still are fish All spiders and scorpions could be easily confused with insects, yet they aren't And all fungus were believe to be plants, even tho they are not and are actually more closely related to animals Alomomola and Luvdisc could just be examples of convergent evolution in the Pokemon world
@@jvbon646 Well, on the other hand there are pokemon evolving into each other despite the animals which they're inspired by not having a lot in common (remoraid and octillery being the most egregious example). Also, but that just might be me, it's just annoying to see such a lack of new evolutions for pre-existing pokemon ever since gen 5 despite the potential being there. To me that's just a lot more interesting than making a whole lot of standalone pokemon that can't even evolve.
Here's the problem tho, aside from them being Pure water type pink fish that have the ability hydration(And even that's is a stretch since Hydration is Luvdisc's hidden ability and Hydration is Alomomola's Secondary Ability, also pokemon sharing abilities is nothing new), they don't share the same themes. Luvdisc is a small Discus fish/Kissing Gourami that's themed around romance. Alomomola, however, is a Mola Mola/Doctor Fish based around Motherly love or even a Nurse/Doctor Theme (Given its wide array of healing moves, it's Abilities and even the heart representing Good health or health in general rather than love). The Love one gives to a romantic partner is far different than the love a mother has for a child, so the love similarity Luvdisc and Alomomola are often compared with already falls flat. But even then, Luvdisc has nothing relating to the Doctor/Nurse theme Alomomola has.
I don't think a Pokemon essentially changing animal species is in itself an evolution that "makes no sense", if for no other reason than that's actually what a LOT of Pokemon do. Seriously, none of the regional birds are the same species at the end of their line, even the ones that look the most consistent. But the examples in the video are pretty weird, probably because they're way more divergent than normal.
That is the point because wouldn't a small bird , medium bird and then a big bird they are made into a closely related bird rookidee is a corvid and corviknight is a corvid too
There are theories that I've seen that clampearl is actually an egg so it becoming fishes makes sense, it is just a theory thought but it can explain it. Also i have always imagined the togekiss line were going from egg, to young bird, and fully adult bird
The Pokemon Sapphire Pokedex entry implies that Clamperl is something inside the Clam, and not the clam itself, so you could be right. Sapphire “CLAMPERL grows while being protected by its rock-hard shell. When its body becomes too large to fit inside the shell, it is sure evidence that this POKéMON is getting close to evolution.” So the Clam shell is more like armor that it will eventually outgrow
6:56 What does being competitive has to do with you forgetting which one is which? I'm not into competitive side either but I remember which one is which, it might be because I like Petilil and Liligant (some of my favorite gen 5 pokemon) but I still don't think whimsicott is that forgettable either, they're not that similar, unlike other pokemon.
Well before the Fairy type I just meant that Prankster making it better in competitive would be the main way people could tell it apart if they did favor either of them...
And a couple that could be fixed by making the middle stage the final evolution and then tweak the stats and when the level up happens for balance. (But I just really dislike 'add another face' as an evolutyion trope. In some designs it works well enough - Doduo -> Dodrio, or Deino -> Zweilous, but where that doesn't feel baked into one or more of the designs concept, like with Vanillish -> Vanilluxe? Not a fan)
A couple two-stage lines did have a middle or final stage. There was originally a lime green duck-like Pokémon called Weirduck that would bridge Psyduck and Golduck together.
I am confused the whole yamask having a piece of stone thing makes perfect sense. Sure it might be a bit less than holding its own face, but holding a memorial gravestone plank (I forget what they were called but the things Vikings did) still makes sense. Both are around the death.
I found it pretty stupid considering we've had Salamanders turn into Dragons, Snakes into Cobras, Turtles into Tortoises and Carps into Dragons in the 1st Gen
Honestly I 100% disagreed with the Petilil and Cottonee theory until I saw their thumbnail sprites (Forgot what they're called). So I can kiiiinda see what Emperor Cubone's saying. I still mostly disagree though because Cottonee and Whimsicott, to me, look like grass sheep in a way. I always thought the things on Cottonee that Emperor referred to as leaf arms were ears and made it look more lamb-like.
I completely disagree with this theory. First of all, Petilil's face is also white, so bringing that up has no real relevance to evolution. Also, there was an interview where it was stated that they scrapped a middle evolution from the Petilil line, which to me further proves that these Pokemon did not have their evolutions swapped
if slowbro isn't on this i'm gonna eat my hat update: currently eating my hat and grumbling that slowbro's tail looks nothing like a cloyster, nor do you need a cloyster in your party to evolve it
Well, back in Gen 1, they didn't yet have the game mechanics in place that would've allowed for a complete fusion evolution like that. (Then they couldn't do it for Slowking or for the Galarian forms in order to be consistent with the original Slowbro. If the Slowpoke family had been introduced in a later generation, yeah they probably would require you to actually fuse a Slowpoke with a Shellder like with Kyurem or Calyrex.
Galarian Yamask was a major missed opportunity. I can't understand why they didn't use the famous Saxon burial helm as inspiration for the new mask, it fits the theme perfectly and they wouldn't even have to change Runerigus.
Octillery's artillery origin is also reflected on its incredibly diverse movepool. That's not enough, however, and the design should have been given a different prevo in my opinion
05:10 I like your videos but this section felt REALLY ignorant. Rune stones are very symbolic and important, they are essentially gravestones, often used to honour fallen tribesmen, the engravings representing their story, tribe and offer their soul protection. Destruction of these stones will lead to a curse on your soul and lineage which explains the broken ‘rubble’ as you call it and the connection to a haunted soul. Clearly the designers did their research with this design, I wish you’d do the same. 🙁
I like the idea of Clamperl being an egg. It's a simple case of mistaken identity. coming across something really shiny and cool underwater only to find out it was not what you think it was. Like finding a gelatinous blob on the beach only to find out it's a jellyfish or swimming past some rocks underwater only for one of them to open up and reveal it was a giant clam. An egg being mistaken for a pearl does make a lot of sense especially since a lot of animal eggs can be mistaken for other things.
Sapphire’s pokedex entry kind of implies that clamperl is in the shell, not the shell itself, and that it evolves because it has outgrown its shell. So, technically Clamperl could be an eel in a shell
While they have no relation, the running thing between remorras and octopus is suction cups. Remorras have a suction cup on their head, so I guess the thought process was that the best upgrade of a fish with a suction cup was something with a lot of them: an octopus.
cottonee is literally a unripen cotton fluff as you can see with it being tinged alittle green while whimsicott is a ripe cotton fluff as you can see with the white coloring of the cotton i understand petlil might have been more related to whimsicott but cottonee is more related to whimsicott so pettlil has to be related to it's flowery adult stage
Woodpeckers and toucans belong to the same order, Piciformes. Pikipek turning into Toucannon is less "nonsensical" than Starly (a passeriform songbird) turning into Staraptor (an accipitriform bird of prey).
some of these are based on upgrades and interesting history Remoraid evolving into octillery is a pistol evolving into a tank. Yamask and Meowth's evolutions are based on the viking wars and invasions in UK. petilil and cottonee are plants (Petilil is an onion bulb evolving into garlic and Cottonee is a cotton ball evolving into a Cotton plant.) the togekiss lines are based on Doves and young birds (Togepi is the egg, Togetic is the chick and togekiss is a dove) Dugtrio has always been lazy Clampearl is actually the EGG (The pink pearl in the middle) and the "Bivalve" is a shell.
@@JosephJohnson-gu5fw true haha, he's like this pokemon has thin red eyes but then both of the evolutions have orange eyes. Also how exactly would you swap cotton as a plant? It's attached to your body, like cmon

Oh yeah, got deleted from the earlier post but to me it would've made 100x more sense if Gorebyss evolved from Luvdisk (especially since Alomomola crazily doesn't) as a joke on how love can become beautiful but cruel. They could've then modified Huntail to be more an angler fish-eel with features/colors that carried over more from Clampearl (like the pearl now being a lure like on Lanturn, and being used to draw prey into its clamping mouth)
Actually, pikipek evolving into toucannon makes perfect sense because woodpeckers and toucans belong to the same bird order (Piciformes) and are closely related. So the preview for a video is a clickbait.
Blastoise's cannons don't look like real life cannons, though. It's like how Western cartoons (and even the Western version of the NES Zapper) used to require unrealistic designs (that usually shot lasers or something like that) with their guns.
Honestly that killed the video for me. There's a clear difference. Cotton for the cottonee line and LITERALLY THE SAME COLOR SCHEME FOR PETILIL'S LINE. He cherrypicked details that don't matter and completely forgot about the most important details they possess
Have the seen the Seel line? Like, Seel evolved in Dugong. Really? How lazy. A seal into a bigger seal. .. Jk, everyone! Pokémon is weird overall, but I love it
Ok, to get started on your #6 entry, I'm a bit disappointed. At first I thought you added it as a red herring, but no. Maybe you feign ignorance for content, but as a pokétuber, you really SHOULD know this, so I'll tell you: Remoraid is based on a Remora. Remoras are known for attaching themselves to larger sea creatures, just like how remoraid can be seen attached to a Mantine. How do they attach themselves? I'll give a clue: Remoras are also known as suckerfish, because of their use of a suction cup. What sea creature is most associated with suction cups? Octopus. There's no coincident that Remoraid, a remora, evolves into Octillery, an octopus. It doesn't make sense in real world taxonomy, but there's clearly a thematic connection beyond "military weapons" and "lives in water".
I’ve always assumed that clamper has fish eggs that will evolve once you give it the right item 😅😅 on another note big congrats on 80K subs!! I still remember when I first found your channel thanks to the top 6 problem series time sure flies fast
So then what happens to the original Clamperl? It's not like it gets cast off to become another Pokémon like Shedinja or incorporated into the evolution design like the Shellder on all the Slowpoke evolutions.
The difference is Runerigus has nothing to do with an actual deceased person like would be in a sarcophagus, but is explicitly stated as some form of curse that has overwritten the existing ghost, so I'm not convinced all vikings were witches...
You had a theory so I'm debunking one, go back and crack open the ds again and use waterium z against dugtrio. Its not the huge monster that everyone memes about. Lol
Pikipek line does make sense if you think about it. In addition to woodpeckers and toucans being in the same Order, toucans make holes dug out by woodpeckers their nests.
Ok i got a theory for clamperl. Maybe when it evolves into gorebyss the pearl itself evolves into a serpentine like fish and the scale thing it evolves add to it and it leaves the shell. But with Huntail the evolves into the same serpentine like creature but instead fuses with the shell (which would also explain its blue coloring) and the tooth and that explains the fangs. Sorry if that made no sense but thats what i think happened.
Oh look, another video where I get to comment about my hate of Lickilicky. For people who haven't seen my deep and profound hatred for Lickillicky. Everything except it's stats are weaker (Meaning gameplay-wise it's stronger, anatomically however that makes no sense.) It's torso gets larger and rounder, and it's limbs get smaller, looses it's joints and turn into stubs, even the tongue. The Pokemon's main deal is it's longer tongue and it gets shorter while it's body gets larger. Thankfully they stopped tacking on these awful extra evolutions to pre-existing pokemon, gen 4 was a mess for it. Now back to my dark corner to seethe about Lickilicky until the next time it becomes relevant.

Irl metamorphosis is weird Caterpillars can look drastically different from their moth or butterfly stages On one side of the spectrum evolutions that feel like they “belong” make sense but on another side ....idk Pokémon are weird
Emperor Cubone have made many sensible and entertaining videos, but this isn't one of those. But he also have videos that have more flawed explanation than this.
You'd think we'd have gotten a regional variant for Clamperl to evolve into a traditional treasure chest/Mimic creature from D&D that is Water/Steel. That would have been awesome!
The whole Togekiss complaint about how something goes from a creature with arms, to a creature with wings is kinda weird, since birds decended from dinosaurs. Also I don't think there's enough ground for the Whinsicott and Liligant theory, mostly cause Cottonee and Whimsicott have the same exact eyes. Plus in an interview it was stated Liligant was originally gonna have a mid evo, since its purpose was to be like the Vileplume of the region. You can see this in Dr. Lava's video about scrapped gen 5 pokemon.
the cottonee and petilil thing doesnt make sense if you have eyes and use them for 5 seconds and see that petilil heavily resembles liligant, most of its features are a less developed version of liligant's, they are both dancing flower people, while its only connection to whimsicott is that their eyes look the same
I only agree with your Remoraid/Octillery and Clamperl/Huntail/Gorebyss picks. The Togetic, Contenee, Petil, Ryhorn, rune guy all seem perfectly good and logical to me.
I was wondering what the best moves on Smeargle would be. Maybe that's an idea for a video. With Sketch, Smeargle could learn nearly every move. You could give it the most powerfull moves available, but would that really be an optimal strategy. It is still a normal type, so maybe stab moves instead. You could also give it a moveset to counter it's weaknesses. Or as a support Pokémon, there are plenty of moves it could learn that help an already strong attacker. Maybe just give it Transform, the easy way out. There are so many options with a Smeargle, too bad it's not in Sword/Shield.
Smeargle has been pretty good in VGC (especially in gen 6 and below) because of its support. It used to be able to use Dark Void, and double sleep is overpowered.
I can safely say the best strategy is support. It has a decent speed stat while literally every other stat can only be considered bad, so much that even if it could use explosion repeatedly it still wouldn't be particularly good. The only way it could deal damage would be through mixing atk stats with the opponent and separately boosting your own, which considering your defensive stats is off the table as well. As for transform, ditto and mew do it better. Mew can block, imprison and transform with the bulk to pull it off and higher hp and speed. While ditto has imposter. Spore + hazards is usually the way to go with smeargle since it's something it can do reliably for a team and putting stuff to sleep at 100% accuracy is very useful regardless. Especially when you're throwing webs and rocks on their side. As for vgc or doubles, the nerf on dark void and making it only work for darkrai certainly hurts smeargle as a whole.
@Gabriel Mota Oh yeah, so Spore over Dark Void now. Sheer Cold is plenty good with 100% accuracy (which yes is how Lock-on works), especially if you put the opponent to sleep first, as you only need to worry about the opponent waking up as early as possible, and Pokémon with sleep or powder immunity or the Sturdy ability. Well, it's not like Smeargle has any better attacking options if you can't use the above OHKO combo on them. Metal Burst will at least do a good chunk of damage. Maybe Seismic Toss is better at L100. Alternatively, you could go with a support move like Thunder Wave, Wish, Stealth Rock, Trick Room, a weather move, etc. Maybe Reversal after the Focus Sash has been triggered.
The remoraid line is also based on a joke by Japanese sailors.

@@An_Entire_Lime I also thought his reasoning for the Whimsicott and Lilligant was really stupid as well.
I think Togekiss looks like a pretty natural looking evolution of Togetic. The colors and general features are mostly the same, it becomes much more graceful and aerodynamic, and it's not like it's the only Pokémon to lose some limb access upon evolution.

Yeah remove #3 and replace it with the pikipek line maybe? Considering it was the thumbnail it not being here feels a bit like click bait

Edit: Also (unrelated to the list but it still feels important that I get this out there) the Pikipek evolution line makes complete sense if you do some research.
Yeah. There is nothing that connected them. They should've kept the eyes and the color scheme at least
It's so confusing that even the anime protagonists acknowledge that it's weird. 😂
Yes that would be number 2 on my list after Remoraid to Octillery
The anime Clamperl with another pearl, was actually a Spoink pearl.
Which is the focus of that episode.
But in the games Clamperl does have Pearl as a hold item which you can take from it... so are you taking the baby head, or is there another, third kind of pearl hiding somewhere?
Octillery: "I don't want to turn into a tank!"
The fanbase: "It would be a lot cooler if you did."
"Please Gamefreak, don't turn me into a tank!"
Fan base: be a lot cooler tho if ya did
Gorebyss kinda makes sense.
That actually makes a lot more sense!
Your argument for cottonee and petilil switching definitely isn’t valid considering whimsicott also has the orange eyes and both petilil and cottonee have the white face as well as petilil having the leaves on its head
Luvdisc not evolving into Alomomola still bothers me.
Idc if they are based from different species of animals. Its a fantasy world ffs!
there's also tauros buffalaunt. and the Gen3 flying rocks and mineor.
as well as the lack of baby pokemon to connect the Gen3 fireflies, flying rocks and generic electric rodents together...
Just because 2 thing look similar doesn't mean they are related
Look at dolphins for example, Dolphin and Orcas look like just giant fish, yet they are all mammals
Meanwhile Seahorse look nothing like a fish, but they still are fish
All spiders and scorpions could be easily confused with insects, yet they aren't
And all fungus were believe to be plants, even tho they are not and are actually more closely related to animals
Alomomola and Luvdisc could just be examples of convergent evolution in the Pokemon world
@@jvbon646 Thank you. Finally someone gets it.
When its body becomes too large to fit inside the shell, it is sure evidence that this POKéMON is getting close to evolution.”
So the Clam shell is more like armor that it will eventually outgrow
6:56 What does being competitive has to do with you forgetting which one is which? I'm not into competitive side either but I remember which one is which, it might be because I like Petilil and Liligant (some of my favorite gen 5 pokemon) but I still don't think whimsicott is that forgettable either, they're not that similar, unlike other pokemon.
Well before the Fairy type I just meant that Prankster making it better in competitive would be the main way people could tell it apart if they did favor either of them...
There’s so many Pokémon evolution lines that could be fixed with a middle stage.
This is moreso evolutions you don’t like rather than ones that don’t make sense, all of these have explanations as to why the evolution makes sense

I completely disagree with this theory. First of all, Petilil's face is also white, so bringing that up has no real relevance to evolution.

Everything except it's stats are weaker (Meaning gameplay-wise it's stronger, anatomically however that makes no sense.) It's torso gets larger and rounder, and it's limbs get smaller, looses it's joints and turn into stubs, even the tongue. When I was younger I thought Luvdisc evovled into Gorebyss. And to this day, I still think it makes more sense than Clamperl. Where that puts Huntail, I have no clue.
It actually make sense that togitic would lose its stubs when evolving because it's trying to focus on it's wing to be a faster at flying. Also rhyperior looks like rhydon.
Yeah I disagreed with him also on these two. They both make total sense to me
@@lifeinsidekyoto6553 I honestly don't get how Rhyperior doesn't look like Rhydon, it's essentially just a bulkier version of Rhydon. With some orange.
No mention of Cubone , Salazzle? I can't really think of any others atm
Girl- did he call dragonair a dragonite? 11:28
With clamperl i always believed that the shell part, with better physical abilities, evolved into huntail, while the soft pink inner part evolved in the more specially based gorebyss
Irl metamorphosis is weird
Caterpillars can look drastically different from their moth or butterfly stages
On one side of the spectrum evolutions that feel like they “belong” make sense but on another side ....idk Pokémon are weird
I think a caterpillar should evolve into a snake to keep the design continuity
Emperor Cubone have made many sensible and entertaining videos, but this isn't one of those. But he also have videos that have more flawed explanation than this.
You'd think we'd have gotten a regional variant for Clamperl to evolve into a traditional treasure chest/Mimic creature from D&D that is Water/Steel. That would have been awesome!
Love the Pokemon Uranium shoutout with the Grozard/Terlard line!
I always like the idea of Dark Void, Lock-on, Sheer Cold, and Metal Burst while holding a Focus Sash.
@Gabriel Mota It depends on the format. It's certainly not banned in Battle Spot.
I think the Cottonee/Petilil evolution swap theory is a bit of a stretch.
I actually love Togekiss so much. I always hated Togetic and I always rushed to evolve it into Togekiss.
Togetic is cute, but Togekiss is far stronger and has better level up moves. So I think your decision is justified
Actually, Toucans are a type of Woodpecker, or at least super closely related.

Dragonite??
"Dragonite"
Why is trumbeak-toucannon in the thumbnail if it’s not in the video?
11:28 Yes. Dragonite. My favorite sea serpent.
6:23 I think it’s a unique evolution method
Lots of people like unique evolution methods
