For everyone asking, "Why not this person?" Here is a list of every unique typing currently in the games, and if you keep scrolling it will even show pairings that used to be unique that are no longer such Dark/Ghost, etc...

One of the strongest typing in the game is Dark + Ghost.
Only two pokemons have that typing, Sableye and Spiritomb and they had to make sure those pokemons sucked because the typing is ridiculous.
3 immunities, one resistance and one weakness.
Just imagine if they created a pseudo legendary that's Dark + Ghost with Levitate as an ability.

was no weakness before fairy was introduced.
But tbh it has almost no resists so an STAB outrage, Brave bird, or anything high power can easily knock them down.
not to mention Dark and Ghost type are the same thing offensively
They both are super effective against Ghost and Psychic Type
both are resisted by Dark (and Steel before gen 6).
the only difference is normal is immune to Ghost and Fighting resists Dark.
Not really a good dual type since it provides almost no resists and offensively the dual types do almost the same exact thing so no real coverage.

I've got a funny story about Abomasnow. So, I had been out of pokemon for a while, had stopped playing after Emerald/FireRed. I got Diamond, but I both lacked time for it and it was slow enough I lost interest. Fast forward to X/Y and I was playing through it, having a good enough time. First time through the snowy area where Abomasnow hangs out and I find a shiny one. Now, I didn't really have any low-level pokemon in my party at the time, and I also didn't really know all that much about the pokemon's typing (because again, I wasn't trying to catch anything). So, I go, "Alright, who's weakest? Uh... my Talonflame should do." It had Fly on it, this was an evolved Abomasnow, and I was thinking that it was a pure ice type. So I hit Fly.
Then, as the animation is running for it to go up I remember Abomasnow's other type: grass. I literally can do nothing but watch with hands over my mouth as I murder this shiny Abomasnow.

That, and change Fairy so that it's weak to Poison, Steel, Ghost, Bug and Grass and resists itself, Dark and Fighting (and is immune to Dragon), and to have Normal, Ghost and Grass resist it.

Sure, he couldn't switch in to much (sometimes I'd Explode my Bronzong to get him in), but with Blizzard, Wood Hammer, Earthquake and Ice Shard he smashed almost everything for serious damage. Being the gen that was all about weather wars meant there were a lot of opposing Politoeds, and by outslowing it Abomasnow could get the hail up and then destroy it with Wood Hammer, whilst Earthquake did a number on Ninetales if Trick Room was up.

    • @stevenleonmusic

All 3 of them can OHKO each other under the right circumstances so it comes down to speed. I would argue Torterra is the worst because it has the lowest speed. Torterra can OHKO the other 2 with Earthquake if it doesn't get OHKO'd by Empoleon's Ice Beam or a Special attack by Infernape (it can usually tank a physical hit). Infernape can use Fire/Fighting to OHKO the other 2 as long as it takes advantage of the right stat (Special Attack for Torterra, Physical for Empoleon). Empoleon can OHKO the other 2 with STAB Water or Ice Beam. So really it's all about speed. Infernape is the best on paper but Torterra has Rock Polish and Empoleon is effective with Choice Scarf-all 3 of them are pretty good.

    • @Payneylp
      @Payneylp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Steven Cooper i have to disagree with torterra being the worst of the three as defensive torterra can both survive a special attack and a physical attack from Infernape if it gets a good roll on pure Defense max health 4 spd torterra infernapes fire blast only does 87-104% of torterras health and that’s not counting the accuracy check of fire blast and if torterra goes special defensive then you can’t even OHKO it with fire blast it’s the same with Attack infernape so id argue that torterra is better than infernape as even defensive torterra Guarantees an OHKO vs offensive Infernape

Theoretically the way to use Magcargo is to do sunny day, switch to Magcargo, use rock polish, then solar beam the lured water/ground Pokemon. The sunny day, speeds up solar beam, boosts fire moves(which Magcargo shrugs off easily thanks to quad resist and then utilises for its own fire stab), and weakens water moves(which means Magcargo can resist a water priority move)
So if you use a grass type and set up sunny day, the opponent might try and throw in a fire type to make use of the sunny day boost for its own STAB, which will potentially leave the fire type screwed against Magcargo which can easily switch on a fire attack
But yeah considering the tons of Pokemon carrying water/ground attacks and the fast ground types with neutrality to grass(Garchomp specifically) plus the multiple turns of setup that you might be giving an opponent it’s purely a gimmick

Only reason why I watched this video was because my favorite starter from all the Gens was in the thumbnail. Empoleon, Gen 4 was nostalgic to me as it was the first game that I played through the game on my own as while I did have fire red and Emerald. In fire read I beated the fifth gym and didn't know where to go or what to do next. For Emerald I was stuck where you had to battle Winona cause I was trying to progress through the bridge where Kecleon was blocking the bridge. Gen 4 I chose Piplup cause it was my favorite basic type which is water. What made Gen 4 memorable to me was I didn't know about saving before having a battle with the gym leader and I was having a tough time with Gardenia. By the time I beated her. My piplup was a Empoleon. Also Gen 4 was the time I met my best friends which I have been friends with 10+ years and counting. One time we ended up battling each other and I was done for. Only having Empoleon left in my team while he had his full health Torterra and some other Pokes, it was a Double Battle. Lived from getting hit by a attack which I believe was wood hammer though I can't quite remember. Though Empoleon was at yellow/red as of health. So then my Empoleon OHKO'd his Torterra with a Hydro Cannon. That was the day we learned about Pokémon abilities and they actually worked cause it couldn't be possible for Torterra to die from it without the help of Torrent. Which in turn enlightened us to the competitive scene of the game

    Empoleon rules!!
What was the soundtrack in the end? That track is awesome (not the endcard)

If Empoleon is not ohko'ed by Infernape, your monke will never survive any move from penguin. And Empoleon has very decent defences, so chances for him to survive close combat and oneshot with surf or scald are getting sky high. I always thought in that way: You have the best Infernape, and Barry have the worst Empoleon.
