    Pokémon evolve in various ways, but what if they simply grew from one form to the next? That's where in progress Pokémon come in, which are fan made halfway evolutions between the creatures we know and love! I've seen these around but I decided to dive right in! (Also, Happy Birthday to me, and thank you to everyone who watches!)

    OKAY! For the literal dozens of comments; I know what a Glacier is!! What I don't get is the name "Galceer" because I don't buy that it's a simple corruption of the word, so what does "seer" mean? It's good at seeing things...?

    • @MegaMew204
      @MegaMew204 2 ปีที่แล้ว +90

      Well it could've been a combination of Glacier and sear since frostbite is technically classified as a type of burn. You don't typically think of it as a burn because it happens with extreme cold. But it's apparently classified as a burn?

    I’ve always really thought there are some Pokémon who really need a middle evolution. They go from some tiny cute little creature like cubchoo you and all the sudden there this huge freaking monster beartic. Or Growlithe to Arcanine. I do think the five stage Evolution line is a little much though. I think three should be the max.

    This is a fun concept but I think part of the magic of Pokemon designs is that the evolutions can be so distinctive. I think this is partially why so many fakemon designs are kind of plain since they tend to have one idea then stick with it through the evolutions. Pokemon on the other hand considers concepts and mental/spiritual growth and not just physical. Magikarp turning into Gyarados is a prime example since it's based on a legend. All the gen 8 starters basically go from innocent child to "rebellious" teen to confident adults. It also just makes evolution more exciting especially if you've never seen what something evolves into before.

    I like to imagine that if you stopped a Pokémon’s evolution midway, you’d get one of these Pokémon. Of course this would be useless, but a fun inclusion nonetheless

    the only place i think they really messed up was in between forms for pokemon that evolve via a stone. there wouldn't be a in between form because its a sudden and dramatic mutation of the physical form that cannot be achieved without the stone, the growth didnt happen naturally over time but so theres no time for a in between form.

    Lol I love how you said you don't know what Glaceer means, but then immediately unintentionally say what it means.
    Glaceer sounds like a combination of the words glacier and sheer. Sheer being a transparent material used in fabrics. Hence the ice and see-through legs.

    I often prefer the middle stages in real lines. Particularly, Dewott is vastly better than either Oshawott or Samurott and Wartortle already has the best possible mix of cool and cute from Blastoise and Squirtle. A lot of Pokemon with three stages, I wish would only have had two. A lot with two stages, I wish only ever had one. Most commonly, the starters and pseudo-legends, or gen 1 Pokemon to randomly get evolutions in one generation and pre-evolutions in another; Elekid and Electivire, I believe, are the _only cases ever_ of the designs of later additions to its line generations later actually being any good, much less two added evolution stages being good.
    A lot of these fan designs here I also prefer to the two things they're inbetween.

    Honestly most of these are pretty uninspired. I get that they're supposed to be inbetweens but most of them are just bits of both mashed together. The bergmite to avalugg one is great but femurick just looks like marowak with cubone's skull.

    • @matthewkuscienko4616
      @matthewkuscienko4616 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @A B.......Maybe so, but I honestly feel like they would be better served to help to envision some of the more dramatic changes between 2 different Pokemon rather than actually being their own new Pokemon; this is especially the case for the bug Pokemon with the cocoon stages that were showcased in this video. Besides that, it also bears mentioning that if a new evolution is ever designed, it's always a new evolved form or pre evolution to an existing Pokemon rather than a form that gets stuck between 2 already existing evolutions

    3:07 okay so bronzor and bronzong are based on two real types of artifacts from ancient japan. bronzor is supposed to be a bronze mirror or dōkyō, which were found in high numbers (it also holds significance as an object as one of the three imperial treasures gifted from the sun goddess to the emperor itself as legitimacy of his divine descent and right to reign over the other clans, but that's more reflected as a concept in azelf, mesprit and uxie) while bronzong is a type of ritual bronze bell called dōtaku. baltoy and claydol are also examples, and are based on artifacts called dōgu. anyway all this to say that for these particular reason the in-progress evolution seems a bit pointless to me lmao ignore this rant

    This really seems like generally stages of improvement and development in general.
    Like how it is a slow and smooth process with uncertain in between areas, rather than just from going from stage to stage too stage almost immediately with huge differences between each.

    I think a lot of these Pokemon don't have additional stages for a reason. These middle designs take away the impact of the drastic and sometimes very different looking final forms. Often the middle stage is overlooked and kinda boring. Also from a game design viewpoint reworking move pools, stats and evolution levels to be balanced to include additional stages would be a nightmare. All in all there's a nice simplicity to keeping evolutions to a two to three stage format it makes the transition feel impactful and meaningful not like a small half step.

    Just want to let you know, the image you used for pokemon uranium when talking about the fan games at 0:49 is not an actual image for that game, nor are the bottom pokemon in said image related to uranium in any way, may want to change that or at least keep it in mind moving forward as it seems to use the original fakemon designer for uranium's designs against her wishes as she has stated she does not want her fakemon used for others games unless given explicit permission.
