@@doms.6701 I ordered a response kit from him months ago and just ordered some odds and ends to finish out my general purpose BLS bag now.
I just got a couple of these and they will only be used for training. The ones i got were less fabric on the windlass, only needing a turn and a half to stop my wrist pulse. It did feel like I was gount to snap the buckle and the fabric on the windlass felt very flimsy, like it could rip as well. Thanks for the info.
Awesome. It shows that anyone, regardless of training, can fall victim to fake products.
I refuse to buy from anyone off Amazon. Once I bought an Amazon CAT. It looked good in the pic but was a fake when I received it. I wrote "train" on the time strap so everyone iny house knows. It's nice to teach the wife and kids but not an EDC.
Since I have bought 3 CATs direct from you skinny and 1 from my local gun store as they had them on sale for $28.
I ordered a bunch of these before I knew any better. I still keep use them for training, but none are in any of my kits. They are also marked “Training” in red paint pen as to not be accidentally added into kit by someone else
This is why I never buy medical gear on Amazon. And good for you, I'm too dumb to understand what dealers are reputable, so I always buy from Medical Gear Outfitters,... but not nearly as much as I should. I need a couple more TQs and some bandages.

I had the same problems with a real NAR but really old it was from 2009, luckly it happend during a training and not a real situation

Other things to look at? They have white time straps.
I have had a "cat" tourniquet off amazon in my med kit and thought i was safe. This just blew my mind. I didnt know they could screw up a tourniquet, but mine will be getting replaced immediately. Haven't checked if its really but id bet its not.
I just got a CAT Gen 7 in the mail, I'm in Canada so I bought it from a local company which I believe to be reputable, but the TQ does not have a red tip. Wondering if you are aware if some come with a black tip. Thanks.
i don't understand why some people buying knockoff then Realize it won't work , and started complaining so much , when the price is two or three time less then the genuine , oh well the knockoff seller won't survived if we stop buying knockoff product , so buy genuine only and buy from reputation seller ..
what about off-brand chest seals? (like rhino rescue and the like)
As expensive as tourniquets have gotten, and with "Gen whatever we are at now" changing every month, people will either buy these, or not carry one at all.
I know that I was not happy needing to switch to "Gen 7's" from the "Gen 3/4's" that we had been carrying (due to departmental SOPs, and them NOT providing the 7's to replace the Gen 3/4's, that would now come out of our paychecks - dealing with the unions on that).
If you could, please do a video explaining the differences between the Generations of the tourniquets (and some links to that info, so that we can show those differences, or that we can keep the Gen 3/4's - because they work the same).
Thank you for the heads-up on this issue, so that we don't end up with the fakes.

Yes! A video to help us train others in the prepper community the differences in the genuine and fake CATs would be a great idea.

At the very beginning of my 2A and basic trauma care journey, I bought a HANDFUL of these fake ones off of Amazon. I've isolated these now and I use them as reference for others of what not to buy and how to check for genuine traits. Medical Gear Outfitters is great!

@@aidan5083 I agree. There is a teachable opportunity for trauma care specialists such as Skinny Medic to help the layman in general to be a better consumer of these life saving medical products.
@@chuckconnors7516 its definitely hard to navigate a market where people copy successful products, but the easiest thing to do is to buy brand name. For tourniquets, buy any brand that is TCCC recommended. They are all combat tested and have saved lives.

I think it was Skinny but someone did a video on the fake Chinese CAT's a few years ago and the windless broke on them. If you have any fake ones, replace them. Could you imagine if you could have saved someone's life if you wouldn't have been cheap and bought the real ones for $10 more.

Used this on a bleeder once it worked but because its fake i carry an extra one
I got some of dose and I train and I never have no issues whith Chinese tourniquet is not that fast like the real one but will do the job
