I was a mine emergency technician on underground coal mines for several years. The company I worked for was very good for supplying is with everything we needed. We had a "rescue sled" that had everything needed to deal with a cut or splinter to keeping a 22 man crew alive in a 0 oxygen environment for at least a week. I also kept a "oh shit" pack to deal with really bad things till I could get someone else to run to the sled and get what I needed. That pack had gloves, a pair of shears, a tourniquet, a face shield, a cheat seal, a clean Ziploc bag and roll of duct tape just in case the chest seal failed, and 4x4 gauze and lastly a space blanket and to instant hand warmers to break and stick in their arm pits.

I suggest to ad instant chemical hand/toe/bodywarmers. Depents in the size of the pack. A pair of toe warmers fits in the most space blankets bags. Most are self-adhesive, so it can put on the renal area before wrapping the patient in a blanket.
You and prepmedic are the greatest medics I've found on youtube! I'm saving up my money to buy 5 packs of the NAR packing gauze and the Xshears from medical gear outfitters so i can support these videos and build my kit. Also, i have a question, could a pressure dressing be improvised with an elastic bandage, some gauze, and a shooter marble/rock?
You seem pretty comfortable with the 4" compression bandages. Are they just as good for a belt mount or chest rig kit, or is it a half measure reducing the size for convenience or marketing at the expense of effectiveness. I have what i think is a full size ifak on a pack, but i put the micro minimalist one on my belt.
Medical Gear Outfitters is awesome!! I’ve placed a number of orders from them over the last couple of years and they’ve always been great. Good prices, huge selection, and fast shipping! Highly recommended!!
Thank you for your time and experience in helping us out, question.? Have you covered wilderness first aid; I apologize if you covered this topic over the years. I see the Hiking med Kit on your website, Thank you!
Great video 😊😊😊. Question about gloves, do they need to be sealed? Or could they be tossedblike that in your kit? Thank you and have a great day and weekend ahead 🙏🏿😎
Any thoughts on adding Narcan to your kit? I don't have anyone that I know of who uses drugs and might need Narcan, but you never know when you're traveling or out and about. Thanks for sharing.
As a former drug addict...i quit carrying narcan. Those people are usually so far gone in other ways, its a mercy to not bring them back. Again, i say that as a former iv heroin addict, so im not judging or think they're lower than me. Ive been there. At a certain point youre only prolonging suffering and delaying the inevitable.
Have you looked at the Slishman pressure wrap? If so what are your thoughts on it as both a pressure wrap and secondary tourniquet similar to a swat-t?
Most cities support the national CERT program, which provides a wide range of free training and can tell you what is available around you. Your FD, PD, or emergency management office may be sponsoring that. The local Red Cross usually dponsors first aid and CPR courses, typically $50-75.
All good info. Good to see you back with us, we look forward to your vids. The Heimlich Maneuver. What is your opinion on the Heimlich maneuver device? I picked up a cheap one just to see what they're all about. The one I bought, Cheap, that looks like a plunger, however even as a plunger it didn't work. Are the better Heimlich plungers any better, or just false hope? If are good, which would you recommend? Keep your vids coming.
Just rememer, Hot Hands and similar warmers often have a 2 year life from mfr date. Ones due to expire in a year are often sold cheap online. I use a Sharpie to mark expiry dates, and go through the kits annually to replace as needed. The expiry date on hand warmers is a hard stop, enough oxygen gets through the pack so they really go dead.
I will have you know I have the best IFAK money can buy. I have Motrin and a bottle of water in it, and if things get REALLY bad: a spare change of socks.
Simple googling would be all you need. Nothing he said was a super complex concept. If you want to, you can respond to this with a question and I can answer it if I know the answer. I am a EMT, so I have some medical training. But I am not a surgeon lol.😃

Home Depot cheap paint drop cloth. 15'x15' is cheap, packs tiny, keeps the weather off you and a patient. Keeps them off the ground.
I’m just building one right now and this video popped up just in time. Thank you, Mr. Medic! 👍🏽🇺🇸

I don't think I have covered one in a long time.
What I learned from this: Since tourniquets are like women and I need two tourniquets, ergo I need two women.
Hahahaha dang it …:
Maybe you can but I barely afford the one and only woman I got as is. So yea, no. I’ll pass 🥴
Hey leave some for the rest of us? Since I am still looking for the ONE.
I need two women like I need a hole in my head.
Lol
I love these videos. I've built 2 bags because of your videos. Working on a 3rd that's more boo boo related for the kids at sports events and the park

I don’t think there is enough data to support the devices. I currently thank the hold fashion hands on abdominal thrust is the best.
Love this was looking at rhino rescue are they any good? Or just build thks kit?
Stay far far away from Rhino rescue stuff

What do U suggest with regards to pain medicine skinnymedic?
Tylenol/ Ibuprofen… or Ketamine

What about Kotex Pads instead of 5 X 9's?
Or Clot agent then Kotex on top?
Yep that would work!
To save space in your kit use adhesive Hot hands pads instead of hot packs.

Its pretty basic man....unless youre 10 years old. Any adult in 2024 should be able to deduce what hea talking about, even if you dont know the terms.
