Project Subzero is back! Today we take my 2018 Mustang GT project down to VMP Performance to do a little bit of RnD. We wanted to find out just how much very minor bolt ons and a tune would help out the S550 Mustang and if you are on a low budget which mods are the best for you. Today we install two mods that usually are more of a placebo effect rather than making much of a difference on many platforms - a ported intake manifold and also a JLT cold air intake. VMP Performance couldn't wait to surprise me using only 93 octane pump gas and upload one of their incredible E85 tunes. The Mustang GT from 2018 and above can run E85 with no fuel system upgrades as long as the tune is built in, which absolutely shocked me. One day we will run E85 in the car to see what she does but for now this was an amazing time! Huge thanks to VMP Performance once again for the hospitality! What do you think of SubZero and the simplistic approach? Thanks for watching and new uploads every Tuesday,Thursday, and Saturday!

Guess you could say the Coyote ate the rats nest. Thank you I’m here all week. And pretty much forever.
Yep and your welcome
Also had the same surprise when I swapped out my manifold, had a big nest in there!
Wait how did rats even get in there tho. That's what I'm tryna figure out
Since we’re all stuck at home maybe you can film some more episodes of judging our cars too keep content variety! Love what you’re doing and am always excited to watch your vids when they come out!
Guess u bought a mobile home
That orange GT500 peaking around the door jam like "want some boost?"
That orange mustang makes over 900hp and cleetus drove it at the freedom factory
@@Thors_Garage no kidding
Evan Thorpe he just took it on race week well cooper did
Hey boss if you ever need any landscaping needs give me a shout we're local. I graduated from the same high school as your girlfran I think (Mill Creek). My landscape rig has actually made its way into a few of your videos.
What? You guys didn't know that the coyote v8 also make cotton candy. Where have you been David under a rock.
Quite revolutionary actually, ever since the Cadillac 32V northstar made chocolate milkshakes in the oil pan
@Chris Martinez... Holy Shit, I thought that was a Myth 🤣🤣🤣
David dropped that disclaimer at the beginning fast like medical companies talking about side effects lol

@@ThatDudeinBlue I had that once couldn’t walk for a week 😂
So does that make Sub Zero a "Rat Rod"?! (I'm sorry, I'll leave now) ;o)
Best comment of the day yet 😂
I feel like boredom is going to kick in by Friday and we're going to see
"Cooking with Thatdudeinblue"
....want some recipes?
Don’t worry I have some intense content thankfully in the editing phase :)
ThatDudeinBlue Patterson home cooking
want some mustang bbq
4:30 you just see the GT500 chillin in the back
Love a step by step! Am really excited for the route you’re taking with Sub Z. Super excited for some mountain run impressions!
Met you and saw this car at LZ’s open house, happy to see it progress!
I love your new mustang and the power numbers are incredible. I started my car career around 2009 with a base model Rsx and man was it hard to extract power from that thing. I love all your content and you have been killing it and I feel getting back to your roots with these rad car reviews lately. Keep it up and I’d love to see any content you put out. Iv been watching your channel since damn near the beginning.
Love the look of SUBZERO, simple and appreciating. The HP is impressive as well with such little mods. Stay safe and thanks for the content.
That texture in the port is a good thing, the smoother one is so great. Atomized Fuel
That fiberglass insulation under the intake manifold is beautiful
The people at VMP are great. They did my total build. ODIN and OPG and tuning. Car runs great and customer service is second to none. Will be going back soon for fuel system and E85 tune.
David, thank you so much for doing this I've been thinking about this exact combination the results are astounding!
When you're so early youtube says 'no views'...
Love the channel David, stay healthy!!
Regards from Belgium
Awesome video, David! Very useful information on the coyote platform
Actually I think your a natural at these videos. Not boring but keeping ones attention. Great job.
Your S550 is starting to come together and it looks so clean and bad ass.
Insane!!! I just got my pp1 401a package and I can’t wait to do these mods!!! Awesome vid bro
Love the guys over at VMP. really great products.
J Whit Thank you sir!
This is going to be a great video!! Heck yea David!! This is Chase the own who owns the 93’ Probe GT that you reviewed!!
When I bought my 96' Ranger back in 2018, I was doing some tuneups and had the same thing under my intake!
Dude that thing sounds freaking beautiful man.
Hope you're staying safe too bro! Love from UK.
Best way to spend your time during self quarantine
Glad to see you still part of the mustang fam. Need to come review my car so you can see what one of the worlds fastest 18+ S550 mustang feels like
Those guys at VMP are awesome! I just bought a 2022 Purple Mustang GT premium/performance, I want to do this ASAP! So thanks and thanks for all your content.
It was good to see sub zero again awesome video
I like some of the vlogs you do, even though you don’t do that many. That’s something I would want to see more of
Sometimes and especially these days the smallest touch makes the most significant difference, another great video dude of blue, may you and the crew be safe and sheltered from the hazards of corona 🙌😷🙏✌💛🌅
So little mods very good power great vid. Stay healthy buddy stay safe we love you.
Judged by TDIB would be pretty cool, I’ve always enjoyed that!
0:07 you can find those nests in almost all ford 4.0L v6s and the v8s with raised intake plenums, I've cleaned out seven nests in our 08 mountaineer so far without any damage to any wires
Dude, solid numbers!
Garage tour of your proyects, it’s Smurff Ready? Can’t wait
Finalllyyy a new subzero vid!!
Love your Chanel your one of my favorite TH-camrs keep up the good work
Got you hhehehe that means so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Super duro mano, con tan poco se saco tanto!
Im liking this platform more and more
My Dawg Mike has been the man since the turbo MX6 days!!! 💪🏿💪🏿
I love how the coyote motor sounds 😍
I've been enjoying lots of your videos lately. I'm old. 59. Back in the day in high school my 73 Monte with a 350 four barrel was bomb. I can't really relate to all this modern stuff. But I guess I live vicariously through all of you young people. I wish my 2019 3.3l naturally aspirated f150 and 2007 1.8l Corolla had some balls....but obviously they don't. Keep having fun. Maybe someday I will go crazy and buy myself an old muscle car
Love the Integra build. Honda Fan myself
I would love to see a ChrisFix style video where you work on your cars at home using basic tools and doing basic mods to your cars! Even something as simple as interior upgrades and checkups would be cool to see, to see how they are on a Stang.
Definitely the judge vids they are awesome and congrats on 450HP
Mannn I love Sub-Zero content
Very good upload! Just a few bolt ons can make all the difference
The “not smoothness” on the intake that was hand ported does help with fuel atomization. Exhaust side you want smooth
Great video!
Great video and info
Wait till you throw E85 in it. Seen and felt the 10 speeds become a different car entirely just from the fuel, with the other bolt ons it can jump 20-30 hp.
So all u need for E85 is a tune?
@@scottmagyar6572 gen 3 coyote stock fuel system can do it just needs tune
Love your videos man! While your videos are pending edits or uploads, post on your Life of Patt Channel of how you are spending these quarantine days and what not. Stay Safe!
Hey David do you still have Smurf? I really dig your vids and appreciate you being honest and impartial.
Since your stuck at home would be cool to see more of your detailing brand. Some suggestions could be: your detailing process, how and why you started the company, products you use and sell ect
Love these types of vids. Planning on doin the same to my Ecoboost F150 since I’m leaving the mustang alone for a while... now an we get a vid of mikes garages .. 🤣
Detail all your cars👌🏼🚜💨
please do more pimp my ride videos there honestly hilarious love the content bro! be safe and stay healthy
Take away: "Low budget" is extremely subjective
i mean if you can afford a newer 36k+ vehicle you can probably afford these mods.
They are low budget mods though.
lugoe98 exactly lol. This isn’t a 3k 2v 😂
@@lugoe98 True, like I said low budget is subjective. To me a car that totals around $19-23k and makes less than 500whp isnt low budget, but it is for Dave. And it makes me happy he's been that successful.
Juan Ceasar me as a 18 year old I bought a car for 22k making minimum wage. If someone in their mid 20s or older can’t afford a 36k car then they got some personal issues at hand
David what if you made, a fave of your top 5 car reviews you did so far, or last years which was that #1 review and why.
Loving the use of the fender cover. Lol
Gt500 in the back chillin
Gah I already want a new mustang GT and you're making me want one even more 😅
Yo bro I feel like you will be the best at this. I think it would be a wonderful idea to make a video on shell Rotella t6 and how every single modified platform runs it with phenomenal success. The car community needs to be educated on this haha
David hope you are safe and sound and doing well. Glad to see you’re doing fine though yes more judge that dude in blue and some of that pimp my ride reviews too that be awesome
Great video. I’m jealous of your new Stang. 😂 Maybe for content you could do reviews of other brands of sports cars and your opinion of them. For example I believe Toyota is put a 4 cylinder in their Supra and a turbo on the 86. Also, your thoughts on the Electric Camaro rumor. Is the next car mod going to be removing gas V8’s and installing electric motors?
Hopefully I'll get my mods installed next weekend on my s550
I had the same thing happen with my 2007 mustang GT, theres a huge empty space in between the intake manifold and the engine block, I'm guessing the car had been sitting parked outside somewhere for a bit of time long enough for some mice or something to find their way up in there and there was a lot of straw and tumbleweed type material in there haha we found it while changing an alternator out. Good times.. surprised that dry material didnt catch fire at all there was a lot of dry leaves too
Awesome video! Do some detailing videos... White can be difficult to pop...
Online forza or assetto races would be sweet for sure.
N/a coyote are a blast to drive and it's a lot easier to stay out of trouble
Best investment ever is a pair of gas assisted hood hinges to get rid of the hold up rod. Looks better and much easier to work .
You should do a low budget notch back or new edge mustang
His first car was a new edge I'd like to see what David does with a fox
Lmao I just picked one up with pretty much no rust for $1k but mine is a LX notch backs are ugly xD
Auto mafia racing has em all
@@lowslo9287 no notch backs are way better looking
@@willmcg7513 they literally look like a normal coupe . they're boring
Would have been nice to see quarter mile time before and after.
Great gains. Still Not gonna sell my sbf though.
Bro like 40+hp over stock these engines are awesome with such basic mods
Super smooth isn’t always good. Air needs something to grab onto. At east with head porting
Seen that before on 3 different Ford F-150 4.6 and 5.4 motors all 3 came from same factory. Full of mouse house and dropping.
Bret Barber does amazing work
Hey dear David, about the future content, don't worry about that, just be safe and stay at home. I'm sure you can do interesting stuff from there, and even if not - you will make up for this later on. thank's for your videos! BTW, more stuff on the 240 will be very welcome.
We need more of DJ Dudeinblue!!!
Subzero gets to the good upgrades!
Well, yes this is good. You wanna have a smooth intake, when you get to the injector you actually want the intake ports roughe from then to the valve. This will cause a little turbulance and atomize the fuel better/mix the air and fuel.
I think that’s just bs
@@Roanen no, it’s helps give a better fuel mixture, it’s old racing tricks. Now they do a more advanced technique called dimple porting. But you only want to do it after the injectors because you want your intake manifold to be as smooth as possible to get better flow and velocity
You can try doing some more film reviews. I always enjoy those. idk start with Initial D.
Cooking with that dude in blue
Lets see a video walk through of all your cars/projects, setups, etc, and future plans for them post COVID19 quarantine
Wish you were racing in the Freedom 500 Dave!
Patterson's car care car detail.
@5:23 where you trying to turn on car to relieve fuel pressure or was it doing that on its own?
Nice! I want to see how my bullitt with the Gt350 intake handles a tune but warranty 😕😕
Great Mustang gt commercial! Im gonna buy one lol
I would like to see a full review of smurf with the vmp.
15:45 I know your pain, David 😢 lol
Woah DJ TDIB is also a car guy 🤯
is that intake CNC'd in the plenum too? and i wonder if ppl still get the extrude hone process done on their manifolds?...
So, the ported intake, is this something you replaced with new or was the intake already on Subzero taken off and ported? I have a '19 and would hate to have to buy a brand new one when I could send mine off.
HORSEPOWER=❤
Do more “judge by that dude in blue” and id like to hear your thoughts about the new broncos. I’m a GM guy and even I wanna get one.
Here is a thought: wrap + airbrush art... bring SubZero to life visually.
I haven't ever seen you try sim racing. Not sure if you have any sim content, but it'd be cool to see you try to get your best lap on the Nürburgring or something similar :)
