A proper mechanic doing jobs the correct way, why has this channel not got 300k+ subscribers? I'd watch this over some novice botching jobs on their driveway any day.
Doubt I'll be driving at 96, I'm half that and already sick and tired of driving in this country 😂 Top job though fella. Always a pleasure watching your videos 👍
Baz you are a true trooper, glad a good sleep and a little medicine as helped you, have that good rest tomorrow, another great video, if only the people who's cars you work on knew they have a master at work, clean and conscientious, and a true grafter, im sure they would really appreciate it, nice one have a good Christmas with your family 👍

Handy little cords with the ratchet, I use bungee cords but they are always a little overstretched. Get that shopping done, I can just imagine Mrs Baz's face when she gets a Pichler tool set 😆
Nice job. Totally agree with re-using clean gear oil.... just changed a engine with a s/hand one on a renault master lll, customer on a budget so all through a fine filter mesh, re-uesd gear oil p/s fluid & anti freeze 😊
@@darrenhearn1365 the oil is fine and I know it's easy for people on a keyboard to say just change it, if it's clean and no metal init it's going back in, if I had any doubt it would 100% get replaced
Love pulling the box on the i20s, any hyundai/kia is a joy actually. Every single one I've done has been straight forward with no unnecessary faff in the way 😂. 1 tip though for when your filling it, put Dexron 3 ATF fluid in and your customers will thank you for it 👌
@GhostLead65 indeed. At lower temps, dexron 3 flows better than manual oil making gear changes smoother and ensuring the gear sets get coated faster. At higher temps it holds its viscosity better than "manual oil." The ATF also doesn't have any additives that could potentially eat away at the syncros.
@@GhostLead65Not uncommon for Manual Transmission to use ATF believe it or not, I'd always stick to what the Manufacturer Recommends though on a Customer Car.
@@khalidacosta7133 the manufacturer also decided not to use corrosion proof hardware... I've been a gearbox builder my entire mechanic life. I've filled thousands of manual boxes with Dexron 3 and done dozens of tests (with my own vehicle) and I haven't had one issue using the ATF in a manual.
An elderly driver up my road owned a certain make of car and told me that he wouldn’t buy another one as he had three new clutches in 18 months ! He was a bit deaf and used to reverse off of his drive at about 4K revs slipping the clutch you could smell it half way up the road lol ! I used to think if his foot slips off the clutch he’ll probably demolish half the houses up the street !
It would have been interesting to see the mileage of the car and if it was the original clutch. A 2010 car is likely to be original if owned from new. My 2020 Piccanto is now on 62K and clutch seems fine but I am only 77 . That guy has 19 years on me . Can't believe I'll last that long. Goodness know what motoring will look like in 2043!
Agreed! And you can't judge the state of the oil just by colour. Baz, please don't reuse any fluids ever. Chances of introducing contaminants when reusing fluids are real.

Hey Baz im completely off topic could i please ask your opinion of the BMW 1.5 diesel engine reliability. I have the oil and filter changed every 5k currently at 50k milage im just wondering will this help with reliability and when do i need to consider changing the timing chain. Is it something you could do for me please..

Working on a M5 today & doing the plugs involves more dismantling than doing that clutch Baz, lol.
i'd love to of had you as my mentor through my apprenticeship, you're an inspiration baz!!
Have a relaxing weekend Baz and get well soon!
I've used the clutch plate and pressure plate edge aligning method when I haven't had an aligning tool to use. Works a treat.
That is all i do. I've never owned a clutch alignment tool and done tons of clutches fine.

How easy is the clutch if you are working on the road? Do you need to pull the offside axle? Can it be done on ramps or axle stands under the body?
Can the pichler tool still be used if a subframe needs removed?😳🤷♂️
96 still driving 👍, wonder who is the oldest driver in Britain .
Have you ever done glow plugs on these? They are hard to reach and apparently they always snap.

Obviously 96 and mobile 💥 but bet he needs another clutch done by New Year’s Eve 😂
Ha , Ha
Why drain the gearbox oil ?
When you remove the front drive shafts , fluid comes out of the drive shaft shaft seals if gearbox is full. Less mess this way.
Do the input shafts no longer fit into a pilot bush or bearing in the crankshaft? I've never done a clutch on a transverse engine....thankfully
Where did you get them hooks on the ratchet from?? Got a link?🙏🙏
