  • Folks, this one took a minute.
    I was introduced to this band by a good friend, and about :30 into this song I was hooked. I've been working on this song on an off for a year, trying different basses, tunings and fingerings. It's one of the more challenging songs I've ever learned. Please enjoy!
    Bass: Yamaha BBP34 Custom
    Pickups: Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounds
    Preamp: Darkglass Electronics Microtubes Infinity
    Strings & Cables: D'addario

    Absolute legend of a bass player, tiny TH-cam channel, plays in sold out arenas around the world, covers deep cuts in his "spare" time. You gotta love it.

    Another referral here from the SBL pod with Ian. I watched that pod at 1.25x and didn't realize it was still on 1.25x the first time through this cover, had to scrape up my jaw from the rug. Yikes. "Even" at 1x, this was awesome.

    Superb cover and monstrous technique 😧 loved your SBL interview with Ian, so many wise words there. Fascinating to learn about your metal background and how practising metal gives you a strong foundation for those epic long shows with T-Swift. Having all those different techniques and genres under the hood must have taken seriously hard graft to acquire, and kudos for your taking on the whole synth/key bass thing so well. It's really impressive to see the different styles you can play, thank you Amos for your inspiration 🙏🏻🤝🏼🤘🏼

    Question from a semi-newbie! Around the 1:45 mark, it looks like you are plucking with two fingers at once. Is this just to add extra oomph, or is is actually a pair of closely-spaced. notes (…or maybe you’re fingers are just tired)? I’ve only seen one other person do this on TH-cam, and can’t find a name for it to look it up. Beautiful playing though. And I love the Yamaha.

  • @crocholiday

    Damn Amos... That was killer. I'm always impressed with unison metal riffs like that. I can't even fathom how they write rhythms like that. I get groovus interuptus just pondering it lol. And man, those QP's sound awesome.

    • @crocholiday
      @crocholiday ปีที่แล้ว

      btw... what's the tuning on that? Sounds like D string tuned down to C? Sat to give it a go and realized right away my start point was jacked lol.

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the kind words! This one took a lot of shed time to get together.
      Tuning: C G C F
      Basically Drop D all strings down a whole step. I’m impressed the Yamaha can handle it!

    • @crocholiday
      @crocholiday ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmosHeller I really dig those BBP's. The string through body holes at 45 deg is genius. Been pondering the 5 string flavored one for a while.
