  • This is a video that I recorded 3 years ago back in 2018 that I realised I hadn't released, so I'm releasing it now. In this video I show the Sailor 1911L with a Naginata-Togi nib that I have in my collection.

I have the Naginata Togi nib on a Sailor and it is a writer's dream pen.

Thank you Dave. An excellent and informative look at another great pen.

It's made to write Japanese or Chinese characters. It's Eastern calligraphy specialty, a bit similar to an architecture nib grind.

I loved this pen, but I gave it away, it was way too wet and big for the kind of paper I usually use. I wish I'd gotten a thinner nib, mine was a medium fine.

Great review, Dave! Imo Sailor makes one of the best pens in the world

Great review as always, I really enjoy my Naginata-Togi, probably one of the best Sailor nibs there is that I've used (haven't been able to sell my soul for a King Eagle nib as of yet though..). I quite like the simple black and gold look, but was lucky enough to pick mine up with a Maki-e design on it, so that helps add a little more interest, does mean that I won't post it though in case I mess that up. Going to have to ink mine up now as well - my recollection is that changing the writing angle for me didn't do much for line thickness - just seemed to make it write wetter.

Same here Pete regarding the King Eagle, I'd love one but selling the soul and vital organs isn't an easy decision! I'd love a Naginata-Togi in a King of Pen nib, I think I would probably get a lot more use out of it.

It is the reverse of a music nib I think. They are interchangeable because you can of course change the position of your hand 90 degrees. I much prefer the music nib, and change my position for architecture writing.
