As an owner of a Medium nib Sailor PG Imperial Black, I am so excited to see this pen get some love on TH-cam! It's one of my favorite writers and I find myself reaching for it all the time. It's understated and refined! I love that I can use this at work and no one really notices, compared to my Lamy LX Maron which caught a lot of unwanted attention because it's considered "flashy" (not my words)! I also have to post mine due to my big hands but it's very comfortable when posted. I don't yet have a KOP like you do, but I'm really looking forward to adding that to my collection one day! I have typically used dark inks with mine BUT I am currently using Sailor Ink Studio #341 which is a pretty bright blue and I love the contrast between the dark pen and light ink!
Hi Simone! Your resident Sailor Penexpert here! Lololl I’ve heard some folks have issues with these black coated sailor nibs. I since sold my imperial black because the Fine nib in it was tearing at paper. Medium sailor nibs are generally quite wet and write on the broad side. If a western medium is super fat and juicy thick, then Sailors mediums are the fat juicy western Fines. But because most of my jowo medium experiences are a bit on the tamed side of mediums, I think of Sailor mediums being almost as thick as my jowo mediums. My 21k medium is much broader than my MFs but both M and MF have a tolerable feedback with M being much softer and smoother of a feedback. You might not enjoy a Sailor Fine or extra Fine’s feedback though. It’s much more scratchy sounding and requires much lighter touch as they are very thin. Also Serenity blue is a nice ink, so that definitely helped make that feedback feel much smoother.
I might just have to try the F for giggles at the pen show. I know I really like the broader nibs and this medium is just perfect for me. I since have acquired a broad nib as well and it's so good!
I just received mine in a fine nib a few days ago. Also got on Amazon for an amazing price of $166!!! I prefer extra fine and fine and this nib writes very similar to my others, but maybe a little wetter. Definitely the classiest black pen ever. I have Sailor Kiwaguro black in it now, but do think you all make a good point of putting in a bright pink. I think I’ll do that for May.
Congrats on your new pen! It is gorgeous! I would probably go dark red or hot pink with the ink for a goth or punk vibe. I really wanted to get that pen but I didn't sell enough of my pens before my trip and needed to save some funds for burritos. So I bought the most bog-standard Pro Gear off amazon for an insanely cheap price! Also black because I do get hung up on the matchy matchy and I am trying to break away from that a little!
I was thinking diamine party pink, so, same page! The only pause for me on that would be the shimmer. Burritos are super important 😉, but I missed your sale I think! 😕
I love the idea of a really vibrant loud colored ink in a Black stealth pen! I get caught up in the whole matchy matchy ink to pen vibe that I forget that I don't need to have it match! If I want to write with a pen and have a completely contrary ink I CAN... No one is policing my choices but me! I have issues with the Pro Gear Slim nib being way too fine for me. But the way that medium nib looks in your video, I am definitely going to have to look into that. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us!
I'm only like 5 minutes in and this is a beautyyy that I didn't know existed!! I have my eye on the Yoseka Home Pro Gear (hoping to get that one later this summer) - so I definitely can relate with your feelings about pulling the trigger on the Origin.
@@seemownay Definitely adding on my... to think about list, haha. I do have a PG with a medium nib and I feel like it's MUCH more smoother than the MF or even the M on the PGS. Totally with you on not loving **distracting** feedback.
Awesome pen and presentation. I only have a few small sized sailors. I have the Medium, Fine and Zoom nibs. They all have the typical feedback. They are soft. I like them. I put one in the Asvine V200, and it is one of the best pens in the world now :) :) Cheers.
What stealth pen! I love that matte look. I have the Estie Raven and I really love the finish and the coated nib. Maybe that's the sailor pen I should get. I'm still trying ink pairings but I find them kind of scratchy and/or have feedback and It's very distracting as you mentioned. I'd much rather write with my Esties, TWSBIs or Kaweco pens.I agree that this pen needs a vibrant color ink.
Thanks for the video, love it! I was really considering this one but it's 350,- on Amazon in Germany...I bought the Sailor Cylint a while ago and while it looks really phantastic it's not comfortable: unposted it's too short and it does not post deeply enough so it's too long posted. I really love Sailor F nibs so I might not be able to resist 😅
I’ve been eying this pen in a B nib as well! I keep checking to see if the price has gone down at all because il TRYING to be good 😂 I second CerealNana and say hot pink! R&K Solferino would look amazing in that pen too!
I ❤ Sailor Medium nibs, by far the my preferred nib size for Sailor. Kudos on your new pen.
Good to know!

Very interesting- so far I‘m not interested in Sailor (too much research needed ☺️), but I will definitely note these infos somewhere for future! 🙏

How do you compare Sailor Broads to Westerns?

I have not tried a Sailor fine nib yet. I should do that at the next pen show.
I absolutely love the look of this pen! It is my current everyday carry.♥︎
It's awesome and totally your style.
Love the look of the black matte! I may need to add it to my wish list as well!
It is definitely worth a second thought.
Beautiful pen. Lovely & congratulations.
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks!

It's even cheaper now so you should keep selling your pens and then get it later. It doesn't seem to change in price?
Very classy. I think pink ink in a black pen is an excellent idea!
I think so too!

I actually went with a green. Maybe you can test the medium nib at a show or a store. It is definitely a jump up in width from the MF.
Matte surfaces on black pens looks great especially with dark metal trims! ❤👍
Yeah, I didn't know I would love it as much as I do. I fell in love with the price first.
Dang it I want it!! I can't wait to see what you ink it with! Tsutsuji is an awesome option.. I am thinking of new samples I have like bpc tiger lily.
Yes, Tsutsuji is loud. I do not regret this purchase one bit, it feels so good in my hand. The matte finish is so different and I love it.

It feels so good in my hand and I love it. I have pushed the Origin off my list for now.

I love how the matte finish feels in the hand. It's so good, but if you're not happy with how Sailor pens write it's not worth it.

Have you checked ordering it directly from amazon Japan? I need to google and see what the Cylint is, I have not heard of that pen yet.

I actually went with green - but I love the pen and I'm sure there will be a loud pink in there at one point in the future.
Lovely pen, I would put Diamine bliss in that pen.
That is such a great suggestion.
I would put in a dark, black ink, Noodler's Raven Black, as the contrast to the page is sublime.
I have a friend who put Chou Kuro in it.
Whoa there are some cheap Sailors on Amazon right now (April 10 2024).
Yeah, I'm not looking I have more than enough right now.
Your fingers are as bad as mine , lol , I though it was mine
