    I think the powertrain information regarding the CRV is wrong. The CRV hybrid has a 2l naturally aspirated engine to go along with the electric motor. It does not have a turbo 1.5 L engine.

    Kia dealers mark up their prices from $3000 to $5000 for Sportage. They never have the stock available.

    • @CarSavvyTV
      @CarSavvyTV  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sad, but that's what happens these days unfortunately. They might as well say that they don't have it in stock just so they can justify the markup

      It depends on the state. I'm in California and they definitely do, but it depends on the model. I'm buying my Sportage from a dealer in Colorado to save money.

    But do they have pick up? I'm in a rental Rav4 that has no pick up when trying to get on the highway :(

    • @CarSavvyTV
      @CarSavvyTV  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's because of the CVT transmission. You should look for something that has a conventional automatic/manual transmission, but they are pretty hard to find these days unfortunately

    We'll see if any of these tiny engines can make it to 2-300k miles. Why so many CVT's? Wonder what repair costs will be down the road, when the tiny 4-cyl engine and one (or all) of the electric motors need replaced.

    • @gymjoedude
      @gymjoedude 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      CVT's get a bit more mileage so company's use them. Absolutely horrible experience. I think electric motors aim for 130-150k, at least Tesla and I'm not a fan.
      These cars are all disposable, except maybe Toyota or Lexus.

    Happy to see that #1 is KIA Niro -- I'm going to get a Niro PHEV SX Touring and with 33 miles of EV range, I'll only use my ICE about one or twice a week!! Yes, I'll have a charger inside my garage. BTW, CR rates Niro PHEV top score for PHEV (87/100) while the hybrid and EV models in low 80's. My Kona is now rated 62/100, making me glad that I decided not to lease another one.

    • @CarSavvyTV

      @@Rew123 Don't get me wrong, I think hybrids are fantastic for those it works for. PHEV is the same. EV also. My issue is dealers charging outrageous mark ups from the MSRP which negates the savings up front. I've considered all 3 for different reasons. Being retired and having a 2022 SUV that actually gets impressive mileage doesn't make sense for any trade in or purchase of anything new right now. The development of technology is excellent and I believe we'll land on vehicles using various combinations of what's available. Smaller engines, slightly larger batteries and increased range of the batteries perhaps? Mazda has an onboard rotary engine generator that charges the batteries but doesn't drive the vehicle for example. It's a built in charging station. Notwithstanding the use of the rotary engine I think the principle is sound. Imagine using a 750cc diesel or motorcycle engine instead that has better mileage? Exciting times for car owners and buyers.
