So I once got the opportunity to see Júníus Meyvant live in New York. It was a very intimate gig and me and my boyfriend at the time, with whom I'd listened to Floating Harmonies on repeat during a roadtrip in Scotland, had front row seats. Junius was everything I expected him to be funny, talented, relaxed, throbbingly cool. After the set we got the opportunity to go up and say hi. I giggled like a fool to everything he said. Far from the profound and grateful words I'd imagined saying to him. Dejected I carried on drinking. Then, coincidentally, we ended up in the same bar as him and his band later that night. Now, confidence artificially elevated, I sauntered up to him and tapped his shoulder and said "Hi Júníus, I'm Júníus". I'm not. My name is Dylan. I backtracked and tried to save face, telling him that I had come all the way from Ireland to see him. To which he replied "Wow, very cool". I then had to clumsily explain that no, I'd actually come to visit my cousin, but that he was great. In the end I gave up, turned to the bar and ordered two shots of tequila. For me. You know the saying "don't meet your heroes"? Well don't meet your fans, because they might be me.
When English isn't someones first or even second language, it always amazing how well they sing in English. Great set, never heard of this guy and the band is solid AF.

My new favorite band...long live Icelandic Soul!!!!
Yes! They have been a fave of mine for a long time, bought a album and it doesnt have the magic of their live shows.
probably one of, if not thee best drum sounds on any kexp recording. that snare is saucey as fuck!
BDCSounds k40 man that drum beat on neon experience is one of the most subtle yet catchy things ive ever heard in a song :O
BDCSounds k40 i agree. i love that live drum sound. and its so good on here
amazing. everyone play just what the song need. The drummer and the drum sound is amazing. all the compositions are amazing
One of the best finds I've ever had from KEXP. Just awesome. This music just smoothed a rough day into smiles. Thank youuuu
This is an unexpected discovery. Loving it.
What a great session.
Neon Experience is an incredible song, best I've heard in years. I found in today, and have listened to it 20 times already.
The first song was a marvelous journey :)
Angad Khanna All that was missing was the part where Rocky is training :p
love to hear that 60,s soul feeling music
i've seen him live twice, im gonna see him a third time if i can :D
Heard Color decay in the background to an advert and was hooked.
Brilliant!
There are so many great Icelandic artists.
Brilliant session!
I think I might even like this show more than last years! The new songs are great
The sound is just awesome!
I'm struggling to hear the guitars, are you? Drums, brass, I hear them strongly. But I don't hear the guitar?
Great stuff. If you watch some of his shows you'll also notice a kind and warm humor.

This 'random man' XD and John Grant are my best discoveries from KEXP this year, thanks a lot!!!! 😊😊😊
Funnily enqugh, Both of whom reside in iceland and John Grant is fluent in old Norse (Icelandic.)
Gorgeous, organic sound, none of that GusGus shite here. The horn section are killing it.
+ohthepeppers i love both sounds, lucky me... twice
Those two bands are not comparable at all.. Both have their allure.
Great , great great!!!!!!!!!!
The Motown from the Iceland ;-)

I love how he tickles a ton of soul out of the Jag-Stang which certainly wasn't designed for that kind of music.
