looks like the math and history department got together to jam and then needed a drummer. Turns out the guy that kept ending up in detention was actually an accomplished jazz percussionist
crazy... a few years watching this over and over. Its my favorite live session OF ALL. I enjoy the studio versions, but the sound on this recording is phenomenal!!
I have to admit... this IS the one video I come back to the most. There's something magical about this performance. Not the same with their studio albums.. this is insane! Hypnotic. The second one is good... but this one..... oh man...
Quite possibly one of the best jams of all time. Four people working together to find a higher purpose through sound and ingenuity, it is an organic exploration into the unknown.
so, i have been a musician (amateur) all my life.. playing guitar seriously from 9 years old.. 46 now.. and may instruments and singing etc.. anyway... ....KEXP has single handedly grown my music appreciation by 1000% percent.. and i have found all my NEW fav groups through this medium.. and seek shows and merchandise from these bands just to support.. such an awesome station.. best thing ever.. sheez.. it still just makes me want to move out of po dunk missouri in that direction..
I like how at 6:40 the buttery smooth sax bloke is just admiring the space mullet from mars guitarist like "im not sure what you are doing but me and my velvetness are approving" Also I like the Milka wrappers on that organ. Right at the top of bands I need to see live for me.
I've been watching all day long videos of KEXP this last month and ADHD is the band that has impressed me the most! I've listened to all their (self-titled) albums too! They are amaziiiing !!!
They pair a tame, contemplative atmosphere with some mind blowing shredding! I feel like the tension of the crazy guitar parts on Merkilegt followed by a return to the more relaxed theme of the song put me in a really alert but calm mood.
This is the most amazing thing i've ever heard! This guys have everything! The power, the insanity, the melody, the rhythm! I´m impressed and delighted!
I just picked up a saxophone and started classes. When people ask me what kind of music I want to play, I did not have an answer that was better fitting than ADHD until now. Foook yeah!
Well they're not from a country where people reproduce like rats, they respect every kind of work...the hard work is Well paid they Say studies are only to avoid physical working... They understood everything
@@chaussette1er interestingly enough, I most enjoy this when relaxing after a hard day's work - some of the passages are like floating in water, gliding through Icelandic volcano-scapes, warm fur-lined parka jackets and wild, windy, black beaches. If I'd been listening to this after sitting on the sofa for hours smoking weed playing computer games, it would just be 4 dudes (albeit 4 terribly accomplished dudes) playing some jazz. Hard work and skill recognises hard work and skill. No Icelandic privilege here, just pure Iceland, and pure music. Superb beyond words.
Mind completely eviscerated by the creativity and talent of this band. One of the best fusion performances ever captured. I’ve watched this many times and it never ceases to amaze. Bravo gentlemen.
This performance says a lot to me and answers a lot of questions in an abstract form that's difficult to translate into words.Beautiful in a way I didn't even know I was looking for until I found it.Or did it find me? Someone said it is "out there" to me it's "in there". Never get tired of listening and watching their creative inventiveness, good and true art,Love it! :0)
I had to go back and listen to Merkilegt again it's so groovy. But you gotta do it starting with the ending of the previous song, that change at 14:30 is phenomenal!!! :) Would love to see these gentlemen live, I hope a tour is coming towards central europe soon
We saw them live at the “Domicile” Pforzheim, southern Germany, a few weeks ago and I have to say: one of the best jazz bands I have ever heart a seen. The “Domicil” is a very small jazz club where we sat close to the musicians - it was great, the atmosphere and the musicians were in a really good mood and you could tell they were really having fun. That's what makes them so lovable, they love their music, their audience, no matter how many listeners... great - I give a thousand stars!
This remains one of the best concerts I've ever seen put on film.
For real.....I've replayed this one countless times
I completely agree with you
Yeah, this has stuck with me - and its been 5 years since I first watched it.
100%
Agree

This is my favorite performance ever since it came out. Always a treet listening from time to time 🙏
9 years old and still kickin ass. Just can't get enough of this
Coming back to this is giving me hope for humanity
I must have watched this 500 times but it's equally as good every time
I come back to this performance every once in a while too, this is just too good

I haven’t looked yet!!!! I’ve only glanced but wow! I’ve been in deeeep with headphones for 3+ hours & ohhh wow
What a performance this is.
Must have watched it a thousand times...each time it gets better!
still coming back to this so often, absolute perfection
i like how guitarist and saxofonist enjoy each others playing

it sounded like shit, worst jam ever.its not even a jam..
@@strabo1 good joke.
@@mishagas3912 no joke, this is some of the worst shit i have ever heard..
@@strabo1 more like you just dont get it.
@@strabo1 you must love black midi then! Personally I think it's astonishing
Wow. A guitarist doing his own thing in a truly artful, interesting, and musical way. And kudos to the whole band for a very unique and original vibe.
@Adam Jacobs Bill Frisell is awesome. Honestly, we're living in this golden age with so many amazing talents.
This is my favourite video on the internet. Thank you KEXP again
i used to have the exact same silvertone guitar back in the 90s. that is such an interesting choice for this style of music. bold.
Iceland has some amazing fucking talent. For such a small Country, you guys are way ahead of the game!
just like portugal ;-)
Can you recommend some bands? Obrigado!
Maciek Gut _ Maria João e Mário Laginha :cor. Terrakota ... And so many jazz musicians .... Orelha negra ,. Madredeus
@ Maciek Gut Dead Combo and Clã's earlier work was already spot on , too!

Shon Stutes haha sounds like me...where at in MO? I'm down by Cassville. We should jam!
I ALWAYS discover on KEXP.
This is quite the musical journey, fn ethereal and hard at the same time. I keep coming back to this recording for some reason ✌️❤️
This is the most inspiring band I'v seen in a long time! Great musicians!!!
Magnus throws down some crazy transitions between songs. Never been thrown off that hard before
Sounds like a David Lynch movie soundtrack, complicated and so evident in the same time, straight and freaky. Gorgeous !!
Again and again. Never enough

theantwillrule Saw them live yesterday in Salzburg, Austria. THEY BLEW MY FUCKING MIND. So fucking good.
Space mullet from Mars, you say, eh?
Is it from space or is it from Mars? MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! ;)
apparantly they are brothers :)
Yes I could go for Milka!!!!
love the drummer's 'The Roots' sweater
Incredible dynamics, wonderful sequence and transitions, and some creative solos. This is a real gem!
This music grows synapses.

Brilliant. The best music I've heard in years. You think you know good music, and then you hear this and realize what good music really is.
I have come back to this vid so many times over the years. It's just so excellent.
Essential listening, such variety and teamwork
I come back to this at least once a week. It never fails.

Just love the way it all comes together. These guys clearly have played together quite a bit. Best music comes from that.
I have looked at this video over 100 times now, and I love them even more every time!!
dope
me and my wife met to this song.
Its so annoying they don't make music like this anymore. What a time to be alive
I'm loving the tones the guitarist is getting, amazing band through and through
Hot tip: Dont forget to insert 'band' when googling or searching ADHD on YT
I see what u mean 😂
I have been listening this session again and again. Haven't worn out my ears yet.
The art of making wonderful pieces and to create fabulous connections between them.
This is lovemaking to my ears.

This must be my most seen concert on YT. It's been almost 10 years and I always somehow come back here.
This guitarist makes me think of what would be if Marc Ribot and John Scofield had a baby. ^^
GREAT work, ADHD.
Thanks, KEXP.
This just showed up in my recommended..and I am so glad it did. Outstanding!!
One of the best live sessions on TH-cam. Watched it so often!
Loved this concert 9 years ago. Love it still. Love from the Himalayas.

This is absolutely fantastic!! I listen to it again and again every now and then!!! My favorite.-

Excelente y alta improvisacion de jazz/fusion. Mendoza, Argentina!!!!!!
So much respect for that anti-guitar solo in song two.
Nucking futs!
@@stanvanillo9831 That is NOT a normal solo!
That solo made me want to buy a guitar.
This is great to play with the top down.

That went by like 5 minutes not 30. 👏
The joy, the bliss, the lack of words to describe what earing this over and over brought me.. TY
Yes mind blowing!!! Mind is blown!!!
Mesmerizing. The guitar all throughout is amazing, but especially in Merkilegt. I keep listening to that solo over and over.

holy shit this is absolutely incredible. great stumble upon. very thankful this exists....
That's magic right there, Awesome musicians, and even better music.
Going to see these in Budapest, 12 Feb. Can. Not. Wait.
Is no one gonna talk about the guitar solo at 6:25 ??? That was mind blowing
and the one at 16:20 sooo funky
why talk? just enjoy, the whole thing is pure gold
Jonny Greenwood would be proud ..
Well...you don't have to talk(write) and listen at the same time
I must say that I do not like the solo at all. To me it is unnecessary exaggeration, but it is their music...
La Música es lo mas humilde que hay.
Ich muss jeden Tag hören...am besten!!!
Fantastic group.
I love.
