Fantastic engineering again KEXP. Mixing these atmospheric sounds is a beautiful art. And not easy. You guys are the unsung heros.. keep up the great work.
My word, the vocalist's voice is possibly one of the best I've ever heard. Absolutely fantastic! Such lovely subtleties that are incredibly difficult to control, but she nails it. Good job to the whole team. Loved it.
This is fantastic. I love the interviewer, the setting, the clean sounds and sound on my good Mackie speakers...and seeing Bonobo break down the songs I love so much live. Watching him play bass...Thank you KEXP for this. I can't wait till the 2022 Nashville show in February. It will be my first time to see a live show..
That moment at 8:20 or so where the drummer is just sitting there listening to szjerdene sing her heart out and nodding, grooving before going back into the beat and it's just visual poetry. This whole performance is just a meal. Thanks KEXP!
I used to have a band, and sometimes i used to play drums with an amazing singer from my hometown. Man, hear this reminds me how music is one of the few things that really matters. What a great perfomance, Szjerdene's interpretation on Break Apart is one of the most beatiful things i've ever seen. Can't wait to see her in Rio next week.
Last night bonobo absolutely crushed hulaween festival with his beautiful worldly Dj set, everyone letting loose and dancing to his deeply human vibe. This video is a totally different sound, but the absolute perfect thing to listen to the day after that cathartic and pounding bass experience. Break Apart brings the happy tears.
Not only Bonobo's studio albums are all extremely excellent production quality, their live performances are all very well 'interpreted.'(from studio albums.) Too bad Cheryl didn't host this live, like to see her showing affections toward Simon Green. :^)
The trackNo reason is a martepiece, damn man. With nick Murphy its huge. Brilliant. But with her on the vocals, this music turns into a real masterpiece. My sincere respect for this music and all the musicians involved. Cheers
Gracias KEXP. Son los mejores! Cada vez que me gusta un artísta ustedes ya están presentándolo. En este caso vengo escuchando a BONOBO desde "Black Sands". You're the best KEXP, thank you! I listen Bonobo since "Black Sands", and I was waiting for this...
Pretty amazing Bonobo, really awesome. You guys have a way to make music that always gets me. I'm from Venezuela, a big fan of you. It's funny, 'cause migrate is all that people in my country do, after this dictatorship, so that comes to my mind. Very hard times for Venezuela indeed, but this music feeds me with strenght... Oh! That sound 2:56 !!! Thank you!!!
I was gopong she would wear something different and be even more immersed emotionally than last time...I mean last time in that navy/white shirt and those teary eyes...man...but still, this band just keeps getting better and better, less ellectronic, more instrumental...more organic...the old stuff is greeat, but from black sands onwards....damn...good stuff...I gotya hear and see this band live!
bonobo is gods gift to people with great taste in music
You said it!
Agreed.

This version of 'Break apart' live is such a jewel!
it is Szjerdine - she makes it all better (although there is nothing wrong with the studio version performed by Rhye)
That moment at 8:20 or so where the drummer is just sitting there listening to szjerdene sing her heart out and nodding, grooving before going back into the beat and it's just visual poetry.

Thanks KEXP!
We're so lucky to watch these musicians together
It was such a special treat to watch this from the sound booth...one of the many benefits of being a KEXP volunteer.
Leana Clothier
Very lucky!
That is a brilliant idea.. Your comment sent me on a fantasy scenario where I move to Seattle and make my life fit around my volunteering at KEXP.
Nice flex
I white envy you, Leana! Cheers from Brazil.

That girl, her voice so sweet and deep. Amazing
Floating Points, Portico Quartet and Bonobo's live stuff all pleasantly in a similar vein.
Beautiful. Nice to hear a sax as a backing instument.
nice - can you recommend any others in a similar vein, perhaps with vocals too?
My album of the year.
You have such a precious voice, Szjerdene. Great music Bonobo, as always!

Break Apart's easily my favorite song from the album but Rhye's voice is far more delicate and personal in the album. Great performance though!
