Only an Alt J intro to an album can be one of your favourite songs. I remember coming home from working at a pub in 2020, it was about 4 in the morning, I decided to put on some Alt J because I hadn’t heard much of them since 2016. I played this video and when I tell you I had an eargasm to Intro that’s an understatement. I felt like it was euphoric. I played it over and over again that night. For the following few months that song was in my ear everywhere I went. This started me on my journey of obsession with Alt J. Can’t wait to see them in Dublin May 23rd.

im not really sure that matters...
speaking from a nerd pespective, alt+j means nothing..
musically, this has nothing on people like john frusciante who can sing and or both sing properly..
people dont give cred to bands like "crippled black phoenix", which has a mix of "super" artists... so why praise this band?
it can and has been done by other bands already.

I was literally sitting here remembering how much I love their style and sound, the melodic tidal wave of the whole album blows my mind now and when it came out, I had just split up with the love of my life and moved to another city and this album kept me alive through that time and many others over the years, the whole album was a masterpiece and takes me back to a time when I was finding out what growing up entails, she eventually came back into my life and moved in with me in aforementioned city, spent the last 12 years on and off because I ended up with an addiction I wasn’t able to kick until this march, we split up a couple weeks ago and after so long with someone being the center of my thoughts and worry’s for that long it’s like being back in that city alone with my thoughts to keep me company and alt j is once again keeping me inspired and alive through their musical mastery.

SO in love. the way they can create the most simple sounding parts on all instruments that come together sounding so complex and beautiful. they know what they’re doing to the brain. and don’t even get me started on the talent lyrically. my god. just in love. his voice is like no other. and the drummer is deaf?? amazing. so amazing. i am a drummer and have a slightly deaf friend who drums as well, it’s all about the vibrations and the atmosphere. the relationships they must have to stay so intact. such a beautiful world they all created that i strive for in my music. ✨

I’m not sure if people realize how much individuality Thom has created with his drumming style. I love that an instrument made to keep tempo can be used much more as an essential sound to a song, the patterns he plays have an awesome flow and the fact that he doesn’t use cymbals makes his sound distinctive and shows his ability to create his own sound.
