My thoughts on Night Reign are that its going to play fine. Reused assets are meh, especially entire bosses and characters. Its going to be mediocre. Not terrible tho. Its just extremely insulting to have the Elden Ring name on it because it is NOT Elden Ring. It is something entirely different. I think it borderlines slop. If they keep making games like this then..... If it's a once in every so often occurrence to celebrate the success of the franchise? That's a different story. It's no secret that Elden Ring is built off the framework of the original Demon's Souls that came out in 2009.
I get it, but I find it concerning that they're copy pasting bosses from their previous games into Nightreign. If they mixed them up a little (like how consort has some pontiff moves) and gave them a new look it'd be more okay with it but that just seems lazy. If I wanted to fight Centipede Demon, Freyja or Nameless King I'd play their respective games, not Nightreign.
I think legacy boss movesets are being revamped. The Centipedes Demon was mentioned as being able to split of parts of itself, while it previously only did that if you hit it in certain locations.
Considering that Santa Monica Studios released something very, very similar(roguelike extension with assets from previous games) for GoW Ragnarok as FREE DLC, and no one can accuse Sony of being terribly pro consumer, Nightreign is most certainly a cash grab. Whether it is slop remains to be seen.
We expected innovation and updates, actual replayability, multiplayer and social elements, larvar tears as a reward for Invasion and Arena so we could solve booth PvE and PVP problems... instead, we got this. miyazaki is just simply outdated. always has been. Elden ring is simply just overrated AI made game for console players only. not even keyboard sheme for pc/steam players etc
I also wish and hope for an update that gives us larval tears for invasion and arena rewards at least in a future update. I'll cope that there planning it for a future date as well as not being able to just turn the TT off when an invader is present so they can't grief players.
I absolutely understand where you're coming from on this. Elden Ring bummed me out to no end, as did the DLC and the Nightreign announcement. That said, I still think they're putting out quality work that is far above the mark of slop or any AI casual-only garbage. They've abandoned a lot of what I cherished about the series but it feels wrong to say they're stagnant or cashing in or whatever. Miyazaki has always been a maverick and likes to do things his own way. Nightreign being a completely different director makes a ton of sense, given how weird it would be coming from Miyazaki directly. And it's probably important to acknowledge that Nightreign isn't a follow-up in any serious way to Elden Ring. It's not a great sign of where the studio wants to branch out, but it's more of a non-answer to our longstanding issues rather than an outright dismissal. I do feel your pain. I really do.
I'm not gonna address anything else you said but wanting to play souls games with a keybord and mouse is genuine psycho shit You can use a controller on PC, some games were clearly designed for it including these ones

@@emotionaljonxvxyou understand where this whiner who is clearly over exaggerating comes from?
Bro what?
I'm not gonna address anything else you said but wanting to play souls games with a keybord and mouse is genuine psycho shit
You can use a controller on PC, some games were clearly designed for it including these ones

It looks and smells like slop so it must be slop, i was hype for Elden ring, I was hype for shadow of the turdtree, I’m not hype whatsoever for nightreign. I’d rather play black ops 6
Calling night reign slop and then playing call of duty is crazy. Especially when they unironically have AI generated art as progression rewards in zombies 💀
@@JohnMatragrano at least CoD is honest about it being ai slop
