Glentress MTB Trails | Red, Black and Enduro Trails

- This mountain biking MTB / enduro POV video was shot at Glentress MTB trails. In this video I did part of the Glentress Red Route, riding both Spooky Wood and The Super Gee. I also did some of the Black trails including Double X and The Bitch. To end the ride I hit one of my favourite Glentress enduro trails, Ponduro aka Super Steep. The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 7 mounted on the chin of a Fox Proframe helmet using a Gnartec mount.This video was edited using Filmora Wondershare 9.3.
The bike being ridden is a Bird Aether 7, 140/130mm travel, 27.5 aggresive trail bike.

@@streetpigeonmtb Hereford was hit badly Mate but i'm lucky where I live in the City, it doesn't flood. If water is lapping around my front door Noah will need to make a comeback with his Ark and we'll all be doomed. How are things up your way?
@@5492sparky I think we are similar. High water and water overspilling, however it is so wet up here that the water clears quickly.
Got 10 more weeks then I’m back out on the trails. Will probably ride GT red/black for my first ride

Great video.. so the question is... which 'do it all bike'? Mostly off piste Hamsterley, Guisbrough, and the Yorkshire Dales...occasional Inners, BPW a couple of times a year and the Ard Rock.... Aether or AM9??? On a Banshee Spitfire at the moment which is similar travel to Aether..
If it's mostly off piste and visits to places like BPW and Inners then I would personally go with the AM9. I think that is probably more all round. The Aether is really good if you regularly ride tight, steep, or just standard trail centre. It's a tricky choice though. Expensive solution... buy both? 😂 Have you demoed them? That would actually be my recommendation 👍 Should give you a good idea.
Hi there. Well done on your channel. How do you think this bike would be on long days, like picking off a couple of munros? Is it heavy?
Thanks mate. I really appreciate it. It's not too bad, I'd say just under 14kg. For munro picking I'd go with the Aeris AM9. I've done a few munros and a bit of additional weight doesn't matter as you often don't get the benefit with the lack of pedalling up. Because of the terrain, the longer travel 29er really comes into it's own on the descents. IMO this means you descend quicker, safer and with a lot less fatigue. I use a hookabike system to help carry the bike. Anyways, that's my opinion for what's it's worth. Both bikes are great 👍
I suppose what I'm saying is more able bikes, despite their weight, leave you less fatigued overall because of their descending ability 👍
I am stuck in a massive ponder....... 27.5 or 29 this bike or the AM9.... I'm also attracted to the Canyon spectral AL 6.0....all slx builds and pretty much all the same price.
Now you've ridden this more.... What's the better all round bike. The AM9 or this...
How do both climb?
Both climb well mate. They have decent seat tube angles that are steep enough. The Tweed Valley has steep climbs a plenty so I can vouch for both. For the riding I do my choice is the AM9. It is in my mind the perfect UK enduro bike. The Aether for me is more a trail bike that can easily be ridden on enduro trails. Does that makes sense. Build up an AM9 right and it'll be pretty light. 29 wheels roll hell of a fast and the bike is nimble feeling. I just can't imagine you getting an AM9 and having any disappointment. In have owned a Canyon Spectral before and it was really good. My only issue is they always play the geometry a bit conservatively.

What kneepads do you wear? I have to get kneepads, and I am looking everywhere, but I literally have no clue which to buy haha!
I guess you should choose based on the type of riding. Mine are Race Face with a hard shell. Very protective but on long pedals and ascents I have them round my ankles for comfort. If you have the money POC VPD air or Sweet Protection are nice. I know Terraventuren will be doing Rapid Racer stuff soon which looks really nice 🤙

What tyers work best at gt
Hi Steven. At the trail centre itself you don't actually want something to full on as it just slows the bike down. I would reccomend something like the MSC Singletrack or Maxxis High Roller 2. These type of tyres offer loads of grip on hard pack stuff and do ok when it gets muddy.
For the off-piste stuff you need to go more extreme. I run MSC Grippers front and rear. I also used to run a Maxxis Shorty/DHR combo. You need more mud slaying tyres once you get out of the trail centre trails. Hope that helps 👍
